Sold! Just finished building a gaming PC with my kid. He's playing piano and trumpet and likes to mix so I figure I'll get him some a good set of speakers. Great review and thanks.
Great, honest, down to earth review! Thank you so much. (yeah, I also love good sound quality, but am not an "audiophile", and I live in share housing so need to be considerate of others in the space) I'm buying the speakers from Edifier Australia and I'm linking this review to the purchase. You deserve a voucher, sir! :-)
I know that - as you said - this isn't a super "technical" review, but it's a fantastic review nonetheless and I honestly value the practical side of things a bit more. I've been looking for a good set of speakers for a little while now and this definitely helped me come to a decision. Thanks!
bought the R1700BT to replace my 10+ years old M2300 immediately i can just turn off the Equalizer sound enhancement software that i used all those years and still sound better the bass on this speaker is stronger than most budget 2.1 and you will most like turn it down to enjoy the fantastic natural warm clarity voice i had my settings almost same like this guy, treble 1 cm right and bass 1 cm left from the default middle.
Thanks for the review man, it's nice to hear someone who is not an audiophile talk about them. I bought them today after watching some sound test videos and then regretted doing so until I watched your video. You've really made me certain about my purchase as I was worried the bass may be overpowered but you've put me at ease thanks.
If these are to be used with a turntable, the turntable must include a pre amp with RIAA EQ. You cannot directly connect a turntable with a magnetic cartridge.
I’m really considering these, except I’m looking at the BTs model. Not sure if that was even available when you bought your speakers, but it’s a model of these speakers that have a few updated features and have an output option for a subwoofer, Only $10 more, although they do not come with a sub. Haven’t heard of those speakers you mentioned having before for quite a while that you were happy with, in the same price range as what I’m looking at, so maybe I’ll give those a look. Is there one that you personally prefer over the other, after having the Edifiers for a little while?
Great review and demonstration! After a lot of research / fence-sitting I ordered the R1700BT yesterday (white version to match my setup). The bass sounds ample - and very warm - in these. Interestingly, the woofer in the 1700 is the same 4" size as the subwoofer found in the old Logitech Z506 (the bass was more than ample in those too). I can't imagine needing more than these for just music. Anyway, thank you👍🏻
Great review... nice guitars u have there!! Also u can make a monitor stand with a few pieces of wood instead of using books. Buying the speakers!! Thanks
Thanks for watching and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I finally broke down and got a nice monitor arm that clamps on my desk. Freed up a lot of desk space.

THanks for the review, and yes, i could actualy make out the sound and bass was very good and clear just by listening to the recording, even though its not the real thing like listening live, its not useless to give out a sample, it sounds really full and crisp!

hi thanks for the review... wanna ask ya if u use the in line aux mode, is the bluetooth profile of the speaker still visible for other decide to detect it?
Hi Nice review, I was thinking about buying these to play over backing tracks for guitar, do you think they would be suitable for that, and do you know if the sound quality is as good through Bluetooth, thanks again for the review
Thanks for watching. As far as playing along with a guitar, these speakers will definitely be loud enough. I play along with songs all the time. I did a A/B comparison with the wired and bluetooth connections, and there definitely is a quality difference. The bluetooth sound it a little more compressed and not as crisp. It's not bad though. Honestly, I never really need to use the bluetooth connection on these because they are my dedicated computer speakers. I hope this helped and if you have any more questions, let me know.
Hi! Greetings from Spain! I've just bought those for my computer and seeing your video I wonder if those would work in my record player by conecting in the extern amply cause the turn table doesnt have rca conection system. Thx in advance! And like!
Thanks for the review Dan. I used to have the Harman Kardon soundstick 3 , now I would like to purchase something with a little bit better sound on a budget. Any recommendations? We live in a small condo and I like to listen to classical, some country and jazz music
If you have a receiver, you can get a set of passive speakers and save a few bucks. The advantage of these powered speakers is that you don't need a receiver, and can connect them to your PC or a turntable, or use them standalone with a bluetooth device. I won't recommend something that I haven't had personal experience with. For my home stereo systems, I have Bose and Onkyo speakers, which I like, however they are bigger speakers and more expensive. Check out Edifier's website. They have a wide range of speakers at different price points. The R1280T speakers are the little brother to these speakers and only cost $99 USD. There are plenty of youtube videos reviewing them too. Good luck in your search, and thanks for watching my video.
Will these pair via a Bluetooth connection to a record player with Bluetooth? Specifically asking if they will pair via Bluetooth connection with my Audio Technica AT-LP60XBT record player? If so, how do you pair the two... And where is the Bluetooth pair button on the speakers themselves? Thanks in advance and cheers!
Jordan, there is a Bluetooth button on the remote and you can activate Bluetooth mode by pressing in on the volume button. When you do this, the speakers will show up on a bluetooth capable device, I am not sure about the turntable. I have an Audio Technica LP120 and it is not Bluetooth capable, and I only use these speakers connected by audio cable to my PC. The instructions don't say anything about paring with a turntable. Might want to check with Edifier. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Thanks for the review, I just bought a pair of Klipsch The Sixes for my bedroom and they are just far too-much for that. I was considering these, curious can the bass be turned-down to almost nil with the dial?
@@Bamali Thanks for the info DeeVee, I'm going to get them for a try , if anyone needs to know my Sixes are fully living-room speakers that even-then might get you evicted if you're in a condo or apartment, even down-eq'd the tweeters throw-out for about a minimum 20x20 room and the woofers a couple of doors on both sides of the hall, I think it's all great but I just wanted some high-end speakers for my bedroom, those things are beasts...🤔
You won’t be able to plug in a turntable unless it has a built in phono stage. I’ve just received these as kitchen speakers and they are unbelievable for the price.
Thanks for your review. I ended up getting a pair - also to replace Klipsch Pro Media - and I love them! They are also great to look at! I agree completely about the bass. The bass is strong but very, very musical - which I love! The imaging is also very impressive! When I sit at my desk, in the sweet spot, it sounds like the artists are playing on the desk in front of me! Love it! Hey, I really like your CD shelves/towers in the corners behind you. Love the color and corner functionality. Did you purchase them or make them? Thanks again!
Hi Sharon. They are definitely more bass heavy than my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers. I think partly because I had the subwoofer on the floor and the satellite speakers on my desk. With these, there is no subwoofer, so you get the bass directly from the speakers. I think them being in wood also adds to the warmer, bassier sound. That being said, I have my bass knob set at about the 10 o'clock position and the treble at about 1, and they sound nice. The highs come through nice and clear.
TheDeeVee I agree. You are a BOSS thanks for your review! Bought the speakers because of you and I like them but I will say I bought them with a home theater intention which you did not mislead in, and I wanted more power! Like You stated the speakers have good premium quality to them. I did manage to get them to sound like cheap speakers but it was due to me switching from bluetooth to line in and vise versa. The volume doesn't carry over through these channels. I had the speakers sound broken when I swapped from line in to bluetooth. NOT practical,. After some tweaking I got it going and know what I can and can't do. They are ok wish they were cheaper though. Can't help but think many same priced speakers would do better. SMH
