Seems silly to leave out the biggest contributing factor to why the average person working out doesn’t look like a body builder
They don’t put in the work. But that’s okay. Aside from steroids, even as a natural bodybuilder, it is an extreme sport that takes a lot of time and life dedication to really excel in, it’s not something that everybody has the time in the their lives to pursue that deeply. That being said, I do believe that if people push themselves harder and continue to improve their fitness and health mental dataset over time, they will see substantially improving gains.
Steroids doesnt matter for his point. U can compare natrual bb to natural strongmen and powerlifters and the difference in muscle mass would still be apparent. His point was the difference in training and how bodybuilders focus on time under tension which is better for hypertrophy but worse for strength gains.
So many people use juice and still look terrible and natty because you still have to put in the hard work of 24/7 dieting, sleeping and training right.
@@Shazam-rp7id I disagree. Honestly it only takes 2 to 3 years to achieve a substantial physique which imo is quite a short period of time. Beyond that point, the amount of muscle mass you gain is negligible.

What a great idea, why didn't I think of that! So, are you on gear?
An excellent summary on why bodybuilding produces I effective bodies for a functional life.
The most important part of the day 💉🫠
It’s their focus on pushing to muscular failure. It’s one of the main causes of hypertrophy along with metabolite build up. Most strength athletes don’t work to failure or when they do they do so at lower rep ranges. Recent paper summarising hypertrophy states that so long as failure is reached between a range of 6-30 reps then hypertrophy will occur. Slightly higher reps may induce more hypertrophy due to the greater metabolite build up
Comment I was looking for 👌🏼
No. It is due to the steroids. Drug tested athletes can take only moderate amounts and cannot take many super strong steroids like Dbol and Trenbolone.

Great content . Let’s say it … Gear . I was on 500 test and tren when I can off I went from 245 to 215 in six months. I have an athletic body now. But that’s really why they hold muscle I eat like garbage food and was ripped at 245 .
Putting the target muscle under maximal tension, that's the goal I keep in mind when lifting. Nothing wrong with half reps after reaching technical failure. It's all about maximizing that tension, that pain, that burn.
In terms of raw muscle mass, Brian Shaw beats all of those steroid juiced bodybuilders, without focusing on bodybuilding at all.
Height matters a lot more here, the taller you are, the more muscle you can put on.
Brian does not have more muscle mass than a professional bodybuilder 😂 He's trains for strongman so he's good at strongman. Like Peter said, how you train determines muscle mass, not simply lifting a weight from point A to B. He's also on steroids (as most strongmen are).
@@HerculesFit You just need to calculate his lean body mass, minus bone mass, you get how massive he is.
Just his muscle mass alone is at least the total mass of the average man.
He averages 400 lbs, of which only 20% is fat, so he still remains with 320 lbs of lean body mass.
The biggest bodybuilder, Greg Kovacs, weighed a total of 320 lbs competitive weight (so you have to cut his body fat now, you'll likely go below 300 lbs of lean muscle mass).
Steroids might play a role, but I think height plays a far bigger role: even amongst the bodybuilders that took steroids who who were below 6ft, most of them didn't reach a competitive weight of more than 220 lbs.
You see the really big guys only starting from 6ft up.
He maybe does have more muscle mass, but what Pete was reffering to is how much more muscular bodybuilders look compared to others. Even tho if they have less lean muscle mass
@@flekatron2148 Yeah, about that, it's definitely true that Brian Shaw doesn't care that much about looking muscular.
Probably, even if he lost all his excess body fat, he wouldn't look as big as some bodybuilders, just because his muscles are probably a lot more compact and dense, rather than voluminous.
He's been doing strength training after all, not bodybuilding.

Well said.
I used to go to the gym as a 15 year old and trying my legs to failure to the point that I could hardly walk down the gym stairs to leave. I gained minimal size but did get a lot of strength increase. If I had done roids I would have exploded in size with the intensity training I was doing. I bought every body building mag and bought into the protein shakes and the amino acid drinks and the dessicated liver tablets , brewers yeast, kelp (it was the 80s) etc etc. I just wish that every magazine had just said "wow look what you can do with steroids!" I knew they existed but because they were never really talked about they had this scary mystique. I was too scared to take them even if I had been connected enough to get them. I just wish back then the industry had been more honest as to what was possible natural v gear?
I used to read those magazines too. Like you said, they never admitted that steroids were the key. It's basically a form of cheating but nobody wants to admit that they have to cheat to win. Now that we know they're all cheating that's supposed to make it acceptable.
@Tyrone Simon cheers Tyrone. I worked out like a monster but I was a skinny kid and just got stronger. I think that I probably would have been harmed by steroids but feel that Arnold holds some blame and should have just blown the whole game wide open in the 80s and de mystified it. He didn't and just left kids like me wondering why we were killing ourselves with just supplements and believing it was attainable.

What is it called 2022?
CONSTANT TENSION is what makes a bodybuilder a bodybuilder
I don't know of 1 body builder that is as strong or stronger than a Strong Man
This guy is the irl guts
Basically bodybuilders utilize a different set and rep scheme to optimally grow muscle where as athletes that train for a different sport follow different programs better suited for their goals. A bodybuilder trains for hypertrophy, a powerlifter doesn't.
What you say is true, but you’re not making a distinction between Sarco plasmic hypertrophy and myofibril hypertrophy. Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is what bodybuilders do, which is why they do the reps they do under the control they do they’re looking to fill the muscle with more fluid than actually thick and tendons and muscles themselves. So it’s actually a fair comparison?
Next video suggestion
Why a chef could cook well?
The difference is focusing on a contraction and going slow as to throwing the weights around doing Power lifting! Bodybuilding you don’t care how much weight you can lift as stated but how much of a contraction you get from the weight!
Mind muscle connection....... that's the way
0:44 “eventually I just said 💉🧃 this
It's about muscle activation, it's about creating micro tears in muscles so that when they heal they become bigger than last time
Thanks for the reminder, I've been minding the weights I lift since most of the guys at my gym lift way more than me and they have really nice physiques and proportioned bodies. I'll stick to lifting with proper form and difficulty instead of more weight since my goal was to get more muscle not lift more weight.
Pssst lifting heavy recruits more muscle fibers and generates a bunch of hypertrophy. Just be safe and manage your recovery
In simple words the reason is:
More volume and more frequency
Ironically this approach has me me stronger over all sooo i think the body building traing style should be a major part of a mans training routine. My goal is strength but also to get jacked while doin it, and peters method works.
To be honest it's not only the lifting techniques, it's more the foods and the amount of foods they eat
Words that can come only from someone who has experienced and experimented for hours in gym
Some are training the movements while others are training the muscle , simple
