      They don’t put in the work. But that’s okay. Aside from steroids, even as a natural bodybuilder, it is an extreme sport that takes a lot of time and life dedication to really excel in, it’s not something that everybody has the time in the their lives to pursue that deeply. That being said, I do believe that if people push themselves harder and continue to improve their fitness and health mental dataset over time, they will see substantially improving gains.

      Steroids doesnt matter for his point. U can compare natrual bb to natural strongmen and powerlifters and the difference in muscle mass would still be apparent. It’s their focus on pushing to muscular failure. It’s one of the main causes of hypertrophy along with metabolite build up. Most strength athletes don’t work to failure or when they do they do so at lower rep ranges. Recent paper summarising hypertrophy states that so long as failure is reached between a range of 6-30 reps then hypertrophy will occur. Slightly higher reps may induce more hypertrophy due to the greater metabolite build up

      @HerculesFit Рік тому +5

      Brian does not have more muscle mass than a professional bodybuilder 😂 He's trains for strongman so he's good at strongman. Like Peter said, how you train determines muscle mass, not simply lifting a weight from point A to B. He's also on steroids (as most strongmen are).

    • @tudormardare66
      @tudormardare66 Рік тому +1

      @@HerculesFit You just need to calculate his lean body mass, minus bone mass, you get how massive he is.
      Just his muscle mass alone is at least the total mass of the average man.
      He averages 400 lbs, of which only 20% is fat, so he still remains with 320 lbs of lean body mass.
      The biggest bodybuilder, Greg Kovacs, weighed a total of 320 lbs competitive weight (so you have to cut his body fat now, you'll likely go below 300 lbs of lean muscle mass).
      Steroids might play a role, but I think height plays a far bigger role: even amongst the bodybuilders that took steroids who who were below 6ft, most of them didn't reach a competitive weight of more than 220 lbs.
      You see the really big guys only starting from 6ft up.

I gained minimal size but did get a lot of strength increase. If I had done roids I would have exploded in size with the intensity training I was doing. I bought every body building mag and bought into the protein shakes and the amino acid drinks and the dessicated liver tablets , brewers yeast, kelp (it was the 80s) etc etc. I just wish that every magazine had just said "wow look what you can do with steroids!" I knew they existed but because they were never really talked about they had this scary mystique. I was too scared to take them even if I had been connected enough to get them. What you say is true, but you’re not making a distinction between Sarco plasmic hypertrophy and myofibril hypertrophy. Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is what bodybuilders do, which is why they do the reps they do under the control they do they’re looking to fill the muscle with more fluid than actually thick and tendons and muscles themselves.
