That verse riff is one of the hardest metal guitar riffs to play ever. Seriously I’ve been playing for almost 10 years and I’ve learned some crazy shit I never thought I could do but still can’t play this riff that fast so clean.

The hammer on after the 2 triplets is the key to playing it right. It’s an awkward hammer on but once you play it slower for a bit it gets easier

it's Travis who ultimately shines in this album. just listen to that double kick work, such an amazing drummer. Trivium really sucks anymore without him.
Their new drummer Paul is really good. I've seen them live 3 times with Nick, Matt and Paul and he has the most energy out of all of them. Hopefully he can bring something special to them for the next album

Ihsahn is in his 40's and can scream just fine, in fact look at old school death metal bands, no problem screaming. "too old" is a really shitty excuse.
Has nothing to do with age, his technique in this album/the crusade/and shogun for screaming was awful. That's why he blew his voice out and had to relearn new techniques for clean/harsh vocals.

Opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one. I personally think their metalcore period was their best era, fuck "Silence in the snow" and such crap. Just as a sidenote, Matt Heafy himself said Ascendancy is his favorite Trivium album LOL
Matt actually still screams, they've saved their metalcore elements.
