I was 15 when I went to the House of Blues in Chicago to see Children of Bodom. Trivium was an opening act . . . I left with a Trivium t-shirt. Best concert ever!

+RRFan1250 I am experiencing that right now, I don't think that anything they do can be better (in my opinion) than throes of perdition. You're so right though, hearing a song for the first time when its this good is special.

I am, but I am not a huge fan of the vocalist. The guitarists are good, the drums are decent but I could live without the singing. the dude's a better screamer. fuck that chorus
I didn't know they were considered metalcore mainly because I don't get into that subgenre shit, but some of these big choruses just make me cringe. I remember buying The Art of Balance from Shadows Fall and thinking these dude might get huge. Then they came out with their next album and started singing way more and it just ruined them for me. If I want to listen to singing I'll listen to classic rock or Dream Theater "which is the worst part of that band." Regardless I guess there is a time and place for singing, but I think a lot of these newer bands are trying to be more mainstream, but I can't say for sure.
This album is simply a classic. It's so beautiful.

Tony DeCaro Ascendancy, Crusade and Shogun, all very strong albums. Whichever feels like a favorite depends a lot on mood for me.

In middle school we had a computer class, which I was in for only a few weeks, but I stumbled across this album when I decided to look through all the student files. Someone ripped the CD to a school computer. Needless to say, I listened and the next day I brought my usb cable to plug in my Creative Zen MP3 player and not once did I listen to any other song for a few weeks straight. I'm 23, out of high school, with a baby on the way, and this record still gets put on every device I own.

When i discovered this band it was almost 3 years ago. It was during winter break. Times were hard for us because we were in a car crash months prior and hearing this band at the time was uplifting. Ascendancy wasnt the first song i heard, it was Like Light To The Flies. It was great

Few years back I was struggling so much financially that I had to quit college and went into the rabbit hole of 8-8 job and literally after three years I had saved up enough so i started college did well and graduated and now I have a good paying job a house and im in a good position also its been a while since i listened to Trivium. Im going through their discography now again and saw this comment and had me in tears. I feel you bro and I hope you’re doing well now.

My all time favorite metal album. No doubts. This one got me into guitar playing.
For me it's mainly the combination of emotions + aggression. You can feel it in the lyrics, guitar and drum play. I love it.

Since Ascendancy and Trivium were cameos in the film Deathgasm I decided to revisit this nostalgic album and came to realize this was my favorite track and wish it were in the film. Basically goes along with the theme of the film. Great movie.

Heard this song when I heard my office crush was getting married. So many bad memories associated with this song, that I had to stop listening. Now I'm strong enough to listen to it again, and my god, does the aggression take away the pain.

First song to listen from them back in 2007. One year later we had Shogun... Now on 2022 he have one of the most complete album that have every tiny bit from ther musical Journey over the years.

I love this song so much, the guitar work especially in the bridge is phenomenal. Everything is written so tastefully. The guitar tones are perfect, Travis' drumming being a top notch performance as always, Matt's vocals are brutal yet moving at the same time, it's crazy to think that they were fucking teenagers writing and playing this stuff. Not to mention, it has an incredibly catchy chorus. Trivium is on top of the game as far as I'm concerned.
