India hails from both British and design royalty, so an appreciation for the finer things is in her blood. As the daughter of renowned interior designer David Hicks - who transformed interiors with his bold patterns and vibrant colors - and British aristocrat Lady Pamela Hicks - daughter of Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma - India was destined for a life of elegance and sophistication. With King Charles III as her godfather, it’s no wonder she possesses such refined taste and a keen eye for detail. Her background in fashion modeling - working with brands like Ralph Lauren and Emilio Pucci - and her extensive travels have profoundly influenced her distinctive style as well.
Situated on the simultaneously laid-back and upscale Harbor Island, India's home reflects her unique style. With five children, she has created a space that balances family life with aesthetics. Each room is filled with carefully curated pieces that pay homage to both her British heritage and island life.
Beyond her design prowess, India is deeply committed to humanitarian work. In the wake of Hurricane Dorian, she partnered with the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to provide critical disaster relief. She established a Food Bank on Harbor Island and continuously volunteers to improve the lives of those affected. GEM's mission is to provide emergency aid, sustainable development, and long-term recovery programs to those in need, and India has been a pivotal part of their efforts in the Bahamas.
Today, she invites us into her slice of paradise, sharing the inspiration behind her home and offering a glimpse into her life on the island.

Yes love her Father's saying...what a wonderful person she seems to be, so natural and easy to listen to ..Love to hear about her home and life in the Bahamas..
India Hicks is a gem. She has spent so much time in Ukraine helping the victims. She deserves every bit of happiness.
Hopefully, they are helping the people of Palestine now. God knows they need it. ❤🙏
@SVNopq I highly doubt that! Otherwise, she would have made it a point to mention that ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Sadly, not many high-profile celebrities have the courage to speak out against Zionism or speak up for the children of Palestine. 😢
@@sandravega6645 Sadly, I think you are correct.
God bless you India… your a gem❤
@@sandravega6645 The courage to speak out for terrorists?
India is a very comfortable public speaker and truly a special woman. Loved every bit of her and her beautiful home. Bravo Home Worthy for having her on!
I adore the whimsical elegance, and comfortable look of this beautiful home. And her stories and voice is like a glass of wine, warm & soothing.
Right about her voice instead of that annoying baby voice so many adult women use today
India Hicks has been one of my favorite women of style , inside and out, for so long. Thanks for showing us her beautiful home. ❤
India Hicks Fragrance has graced my dressing table for over 20 years. Nice to finally “meet “ this creative person.
Here is a woman, who was born into , and raised with wealth and privilege, yet has remained quite down to earth. Just goes to show "old wealth", does not scream $$. Their homes are always welcoming and unpretentious , as they are.
What is with all the commas?
@@andreaschmall5560 It's called proper English.
@@user-os7om7ef9k
you actually used too many commas and made it awkward to read. Here is what was necessary for correct punctuation.

@@andreaschmall5560There are a few too many~ 😊 I’m an English teacher. In defense of the commenter, I think it’s better than one long, run-on sentence with absolutely no breaks or punctuation.
@@janicetribbiani7535 There were no run- on sentences, just too many random commas.
I would love a in-depth tour like this of India's Mother's house!
Thank you for this Homeworthy, with India Hicks. I remember her from Charles and Diana’s wedding, fascinated by her name - me wanting to be Autumn instead of Jody - and over the intervening years have followed her in magazine articles loving her style. So to see and watch her was great. She seems like a lovely person, very interesting and her home is gorgeous.
What an example to others God bless her for her kindness helping others. What a blessing living her life with a fullfilling purpose 💖
This home is a dream. Brown, white, green and red. Beautiful tablescape. Beautiful person. Loved this tour.
What an extraordinary beautiful well mannered and educated you are Ms. India Hicks. Thank you for sharing some of your living quarters of your beach house in Harbor Island, Bahamas. All the best and hope to see another video of your home in merry ole England.
I have one of her books, Island Style, which eternally is a source of inspiration, myself living in the tropics. The stories in that book and how she manages to surprise everyone with her design ideas are all priceless. Thanks Homeworthy for featuring her home in the Bahamas and knowing the back story some more. Cheers!
What an extremely impressive person! Unpretentious and funny and real. And a humanitarian. How rare!
'Good taste and design are by no means dependent upon money'. Love it.
I love that she has people of African descent as her portraits and Caucasian people are of her & her family. Says a lot about person. ❤
However, the African folk are depicted in the European version of colonial servitude. There was also a portrait of a black person in ‘pickaninny ‘ style in the dining room…hmmmm…but, ok, there are black images in a white person’s house.
You’re such a great story teller and I never tire of listening to you. I look forward to your book about your Mom. Thanks for sharing your home and stories with us.
This was complete joy! The storied life of her mother I found to be always interesting and India never disappoints, I've long been a fan.
Ms Hicks is fabulous. I always avoided purchasing her stuff because I thought “Just another spoilt rich little girl” but she’s really wonderful.. I love, that red couch.
❤thank you for this treat Homeworthy!
As someone from the Caribbean who loves interior design, it was encouraging to see someone adopt a country and set up house across an entire ocean and sea....and yet, India's authenticity and her ability to 'make it work' reign supreme. She is so down to earth and her home is one that is lived in.
I live in the Bahamas and love design. Whenever I go to Harbor Island I always think, "I would love a tour of India's house". Thank you so much for sharing her very personal and elegant home. It was such a treat.
The class of simplicity and embracing the surroundings of what is home. How enjoyable was this view.
Absolutely loved watching India Hicks, I could have listened to more, which is not always the case with Homeworthy vids.
Beautiful hostess and home. It feels very welcoming and the collections of art, furniture, objects, and fabrics are fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible home with us.
I Like her very much. Her humor IS amazing. A smart Woman!👍😊
This has been my favorite episode, ever! What a fascinating lady, and the story of her home and family~
Yes, and even after reading her wonderful books I learnt a lot more watching this video.
She’s fabulous and her home is lovely.
Who did the camera work on this shoot? It's not good. It's never on what's she talking about. When she was describing the dining table the camera was all over the place and you couldn't see any of the detail she pointed out.
Extraordinary tour and interview!
A beautiful home with exquisite furnishings a whole lot of family treasures, books, photo's & most of all love! I love the simplicity of India's decor. ❤
What an interesting life, what a lovely and down to earth person with a great taste and sense of humor! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
I’ve always been interested in India Hicks, but I never realized how funny and down-to-earth she is. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home, along with all the stories of her family!!
Yay!! Another British homeowner… 😍Absolutely love everything about India & & beautiful home!!! ❤❤❤
Beautiful house, thank you for showing it to us.
Beautiful home! However the audio is horrible!! I can hardly understand what she is saying..very muffled.
Her 'no makeup, makeup' is very good. Great makeup artist!
I enjoy India Hicks. She is classy, yet down to earth. Love her style and stories about her Mother, David , kids and of course, the dogs barking😂
Just absolutely perfect. She does so much for so many people. I'm A huge fan.
Awesome! I like when homes match their environment. Island decor.
Beautiful home. Love those palm trees! 🌴 💚
Camera work is bad. Takes away from the video. Unpleasant to watch
“Us, ours, we, our.” ❤
Finally👍
Best tour yet!
15:25 Good taste and design are by no means dependent on money. I wholeheartedly agree!
What a fascinating woman with great style and grace - I like that she realizes her privilege and speaks to it - I would love to see more of the outside space but so enjoyed her home!
The camera operator was not having a good day here, so difficult to focus🤦🏾♀️
Edit: I commented too soon, it got worse in the bedroom. The camera itself is not up to scratch😢
Im here for this one, thank you
I can't wait to read Lady Pamela!!!
What an utterly beautiful home. This made me so happy to watch& calmed my soul.
What a beautiful lady.
Certainly one of my favourites. Thank you. ❤🙏
What a treat. Especially after dreaming of a beach house this past week and viewing beach properties on South Africa's eastern coastline. Thank you Homeworthy and India for opening your gorgeous property. Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement to go ahead with the house I fell in love with over the weekend
love her! luxury is in details
Stunning, beautiful home!!!!
It must be mind blowing knowing that you are a direct descendent of Queen Victoria 🎯🙌🏼🫡❤️
Nighttime here, so much to dream about, India! Marvellous house, home and life!
I am enjoying this beautiful host, her captivating home, and how she gives us a glimpse of her lovely family and history! Nothing stuffy. And, her sense of humor is a TRIP 😂! The little jabs at herself and the family makes her relatable and inviting. Thank you for opening your home to us 😊.
Love this. Such an inspiration.
I still have her Beetle tote, I was sad when her line closed but I am happy for this tour.
Im from Jamaica, and I agree with removing the tile, although it can be so cooling under the feet. I just love the way the wooden planks look.
You know, “to each his own,” as the saying goes. I have lived in Hawaii for forty years. I love my stone floors, so cool underfoot. They are impervious to termites, moisture and time.
@@merrywalsh2809 Tropical hardwoods such as Mahogany, Teak and Iroko are resistant both to termites and moisture and very durable. Many houses in South East Asia are built with them, used them as flooring and make furniture with them. They are widely used in boat building as well.
Extraordinary. Riveting. Elegant. More, please 🙏🏼
Just lovely ❤
Extraordinary! such humility! Love her work... I saw her once in NYC at the AD Design Show along with Erin Lauder
What an idyllic place to live! Imperfectly beautiful!!❤
Such whimsical elegance ❤
An absolutely wonderful story behind this beautiful home 🙏
Fab. Britain needs a dose of aristocratic style, *desperately*. Not solely .. we need our grassroots creativity too. Have pre-ordered the book ! Would love a take on grandma too 😀
We can all learn a lot, I think, from this amazing woman!
A beautiful backyard can elevate any homes aesthetic imagery. 🌿
The camera operator doesn’t understand how to deal with glare
Oh my gosh! I haven’t seen the video and had to comment. I’ve always loved India Hicks. I purchased her book from Anthro forever ago! 😊
Very enjoyable home tour but also history tour. I am very curious now to explore more of India and her designs as a designer. She is certainly a lovely woman of an amazing background. Easy to listen to leaving you wanting more!
❤❤❤❤Simply stunning!!!!
Who doesn’t love India Hicks! ♥️
Me!!!!!! She's so pretentious, acting like she's just an ordinary person living on an island as a local, not as the titled lady, lol with tons of help. This woman takes every opportunity to exploit her background, come on she's been in tons of videos and magazines with her home tons of times.
India, you are an incredible women! Thank you so much for all the work you have done from Ukraine ♥️
Such a treat!
Love everything but the huge grass display in that spot.
How unusual to find anyone (a designer, homeowner) these days saying things don’t have to be perfect and everything in a home must be coordinated and matching.. That is her English heritage shining through. English country house displaying layers of history and differing styles all mixed up together, but yet working as a whole. Lovely to watch ; it took me back to David Hicks giving me a private tour of Britwell Salome in Oxfordshire back in the 1970’s
Love your dog!!!!!!!
India Hicks is fabulous. I loved how down to earth she is. But who filmed this? Her head was cut off in the outdoor scene. Please do better.
I do the same thing! A giant french urn filled with fall foliage!
"So disappointing finding feathers on Amazon, isn't it?" I think it perfectly sums up India Hicks and the world she lives in!
Oooh I'm so excited I got my feathers on am-a-zin as well. 😊
What an elegant and utterly charming woman. I remember her from my time in Abaco and fell in love with her elegant casual nautical designs … I had her perfume island living spider lily and it was beautiful. ❤❤❤
I remember her being in princess Diana and prince Charles wedding. I recognized the name! I love the Bahamas.
Beautiful home thank you for sharing
She’s such an impressive woman. ❤
Splendid
When she said Princess of Wales…Diana? 😮
Yes, she was one of the bridesmaids at age 12
Her mother was lady-in-waiting for Queen Elizabeth II for 70 years. Her grand-father was the famous Lord Mountbatten & Burma. Simple and nice person. Real class.
Treat .. Thank you. Great speaking voice too.
Why is the filming hazy, politely I will say perhaps in soft focus?
Interesting and fun video!
So beautiful ❤
In awe!!! Wow, incredible woman. I want her bed linens. Heirloom was the company?
"Our budget didn't allow for leather covers for the books". Puhleez, who is she trying to kid?
Lovely house and lady
She's King Charles' cousin....her mom is of SaxeBattenberg lineage. Lady Pamela Hicks nee Battenberg.
Mountbatten, not Battenberg :)
(Although Battenberg is a big part of the family history, her birth name was Mountbatten)
@@m.l.bishop1914 They changed the name to a more English-sounding Mountbatten from Battenberg in 1917 because of the anti-German sentiments.
The rattan water jug❤❤❤❤
Look it up on line many places have a version…her taste is wonderful!
love it!
So not one person on Homeworthy knows that the island is "HARBOUR Island" ? Big difference. Smh No editors I guess.
Beautiful home! But you probably never had keys to the house because sure you probably have live in maids and ground keepers 😂
Love love India.
She said that they inherited the house, but then that they bought it.???
