I’d say that WH 40k even has (some) aspects that could work well in a potential funger 3. Hive cities and servators are the first two that come to mind, though I’m sure there’s more.
I had a nightmare where Fear & Hunger 3 involves time travelers who are from key points in history. Someone would gather them for an experiment, but the Old Ones would gather them to try and change the timelines, so they stay in power. A few people I had recalled were a girl from the Salem Witch Trials, A Slave before Slavery was abolished, a History teacher, a WW2 field Medic, and a Victorian Era Chemist.
Honestly termina was so eerie to me, the mangled monstrosities in a medieval setting are almost expected at this point but the 30s aesthetic really creeped me out. I really hope we see fear and hunger 3 in an 2000s aesthetic, the subtle wrongness would scratch a horror itch i didnt even know i had.
In my opinion, Fear and Hunger could easily work in a cyberpunk city. Just have it take place in a part of the city that is locked off, because some illness is spreading there and mutating the people and it'll work out.
I hope it is gonna be in space tbh. Space horror hasn't been fully super tapped. Fear and Hunger and its Celestial/Aldrich horror could easily be placed into this genre. It also is cool that in Abella's ending, she builds rockets and spaceships. So sumthin like System Shock or Dead Space. I think it would be cool to have it be up in the stars.
If I were to say three of my theories with a future scenario, then I would say something Cold War-like, maybe we'll look at the east of the world or maybe the places behind the Atlantic with them. But if I can also give my theories, what if something were somehow set in the 90s, or at least a twisted 90s. I also have a theory that we're going into space, that sounds a bit over the moon, but if you think about it the main Antagonist is in the second one, there was somehow the moon, plus we're going to the museum that shows some things maybe even come down from the stars.
Y'know this is the kind of game I feel like that comes along every so often and this is just the seed. I would not be shocked if the third game is both better even keeping to the same gameplay type, but jesus christ could you imagine if it ever got popular enough to get a 3D remaster ala Final Fantasy? Horror and Beauty all wrapped up in a skin-sandwich.
i was genuinely wondering about funger 3 and the time period myself for a few days now, and whether that would work since scifi is generally one of the harder genres to pull off, nice to see a whole video on it lol. subbed
I imagine having it be about an expedition into an unknown area of vinland or perhaps whatever their universe version of antarctica is called could work- since even with more modern tech those areas would probably still be isolated enough for the cosmic horror to not cause conflict with a modernized setting.
There's a handful of UA-camrs who consistently cover this game but Cillian Murphy's son was the last one I expect, you handsome chiseled-jaw Chad lmao. But honestly great videos man, I just got into the F&H series this month after watching soooo many lore vidyas and the news you shared makes me so elated. I didn't know F&H 2 was getting new content either and that just made my whole day too, I just downloaded the character mod pack a few days ago and it had me wanting for some official DLC.
If im not mistaken orange has said he is not a big fan of cyber future setting, im personally hoping for a cold war setting where the machine god is the skynet that set off the nukes or a setting past the techno future and straight into post apocalypse
I hope Miro does a Fear and Hunger game that centers around an Oldegard expedition into Vinland. Just enough to get us a taste of some of the mysteries that enshroud that continent. Hopefully we would get an idea of what Ragnvaldr saw on his trip to Vinland.
I love this games, I doubt I'll ever finish one, but I love the concepts and ideas they explore. It's such an amazing story, I'm really excited for the next one~☆
…Maybe an abandoned Museum for F&H 3 would be ideal location? I wanna be chased by the fossils of a Greater Blight like it’s a Night at the Museum game. Plus, would make sense for a Vampire-romance spoof to be around somewhere that’s a common place for dates IRL. _And_ it provides a reasonable explaination for the returning horrors to be back: The ancient relics are now apart of a *brand-new museum exhibit!* Also… *Could Ragnvaldr / August’s descendant somehow end up having a mechanic where she turns into a Moonless-esque werewolf form? Please I’d be so down for that-* **bonk**
If the third game were to continue where 2 left off I can imagine a scenario where all of humanity's minds has been merged creating a sort of "internet-y" setting that does not have to adhere to liminal space, basically even more funky than the rher dimension and any/ all inconsistencies can be summed up to "this is all a sort of dream world". Only in this setting the influence of the old gods either causes one mind to separate from the rest or we have to control an "avatar" of logic and the old gods influence distorts a portion of the collective mind to turn nightmarish with us either having no clue what is going on or we are there in an attempt to fix the issue or to prevent it from harming everyone else. It could also be that sharing thoughts with everyone else all the time is not as great as it was presented as and the protagonist is trying to gain independence in this setting with the aid of the old gods influence because in spite of all the horrors the old gods power have caused the deities themselves are not all evil. Another course still in the same setting could be minds of sulfur cult members causing a sort of "civil war" within the collective conscience between those whose ideals and moral compasses are simply too different to properly merge without inconsistencies. I can see something like this happening if any of the ascended gods power still remains to some capacity in the wake of logic's birth. Idk just figured I would throw my hat into the ring with everyone else seemingly going the: futuristic, cyberpunk or prequel-sequel route...
All that we know for sure is that this future setting is going to be very unique and supernatural. It won’t be anything like what we’ve seen before in media.
fear and hunger 2's setting was basically the direct result of the 2 new cannon gods from fear and hunger one (the yellow king's rule combined with the drive created by the God of fear and hunger) so it will probably be some kind of matrix situation considering Logic was supposed to be everyone's combined consciousness.
I would absolutely love it if it was a concept similar to Live a Live. Letting the player select a character that plays in a definite era and try to influence the world and the future of humankind/old gods. Each character finale leading up to a final grand finale
I’m not really sure Logic will be “evil” per se. I could personally imagine Logic as a “Chaotic Neutral” at worst in the grand scheme of things… Now the Sulfur God? I can very much imagine HIM as the villain of Fear and Hunger 3.
So for Funger 3 there are either two scenarios that can take place- the first is that Logic and Rher are present and the other is where only Logic is present(either Rher has left the world or has been killed depending on which parts of the endings of Termina are cannon). This brings into question with Pocketcat. He is truly a malevolent entity who enjoys inflicting pain but is limited by Rher's direction since he is a creation of Rher. If Rher is not present that means that Pocketcat is free to do whatever he wishes and would become an absolute menace. The youtubers at the New Gods Podcast did mention the idea of Pocketcat consistently being an ever looming threat throughout the game(like a stalker type enemy). I would hope he would function differently though than the Crow Mauler, Needles, and even the Death Mask. Maybe he can possess certain creatures/people that have souls much like he does with Daan(but used more as a game mechanic rather than for just lore).
I think when ppl say cyberpunk as a possible future for fear and hunger, they invision more of a future merging of man and machine. This game is incredibly psychological in its theams of the relationship between god and man. 3 may explore that idea of combining with technology along with those who fight against it and those who see it as the successors to the future. It might be a parallel to the idea of the aion of Aquarius.
I wish F&H 3 would take back into the journey of the fellowship and the rise of the new gods where we can take 5 of the character as an option and sees how it shapes the game and affecting F&H 1 and 2
Assuming that every FaH fan had a dream related to FaH 3: I had a dream where FaH 3 happens in some sort of really big or infinite manor, with a staircase in the middle leading to other floors.(There was a needles rippoff stalking the player)
It could be a plane crash on a mysterious island or far future space prison, a group of people could be sent to this prison colony etc for various reasons
My personal favorite idea is fear and hunger 3 taking place during the 50-60s space race time. A race to see who can get rocket ships to the moon when its moon god rher makes it a lot more complicated and interesting
I think maybe a prequel where we see the rise of gro goroth and Sylvian or perhaps all-mer. Like seeing how the sulphur god and all-mer. How humanity went from being primal animalistic like beings into what we see in Funger 1.
Nah the creator of fear and hunger is the type of guy that will make the third game a dating sim just to hide 400 different cult eastereggs within the games code
I personally would love if we went back to Mahabre. Thinking about it.. its the source of all the new gods humanity got therefore its the source of the god like power, without it there are no ascensions meaning no new gods. I think if like f&h3 went back to Mahabre to the true origin of godhood(exploring the reptilian civilization) how humanity got there in the first place would be amazing! Mahabre is why the world is as it is, and all the answers are there! So like in order to say defeat Logic, our party would need to venture to Mahabre(present and past) to discover the way to actually save humanity or destroy it.
the only way i could see the modern setting working is something like the underhive of a cyberpunk city, or maybe the frontier of vinland. But I really really hope that the game keeps its uniqueness and doesn't just become a normal rpg
For the next fear and hunger game with the setting progressing through time, I'd love to see a fear and hunger set during a modern war like the Iraq war where supernatural creatures appear like the game House of Ashes. If they were to go far into the future, seeing a fear and hunger game in a futuristic setting with retro sci fi tech similar to games like Signalis or Iron Lung would be cool
Maybe a chernobyl type situation with a city quarantined? The outside world still exists but the game setting is a nightmare. The Sulpher god and Logic will be major players in F&H3. Chaos and science.
All i have to say is Space God. A God based off our adventures to the beyond. Call this The Age of Voyage. Due to our haunted world by "New Gods" that just dont die and "Old Gods" that dont even help us. In this, we find out that theres worse out there. The solution is in this world not in space. However. We acend in this voyage. But we get stuck on another planet. Never to help yet wander. (As an S ending)
I hope Funger 3 is a murder mystery and you get to play as a gunshoes detective in a sorta sci-fi corpo setting or post apocalyptic hellscape or combo between the two.
I kinda enjoy the idea of the scale of the game increasing. If you think about it fear and hunger one and two were both technically open world games and each one increased in scope. I think the idea of functional cities and towns would be fine while the outside world is a massive wreck
i get the feeling that the disapointment thing will be a change of focus in either gameplay or tone. gameplay wise it could be like less playable characters, or miro might even tinker with a create-your-character style. tone wise, i think the game will still be violent, bloody, disturbing and even scary at times, with incredible story and lore as always, but he's gonna tone down the grotesque stuff. like how from funger 1 to 2 the nudity and sexual themes calmed down a bit (still very much there, but more sporadic), from 2 to 3 we may see less of the grotesque, like all the moonscorched townsfolk, but it will still definitely be there. in its stead, miro may dwelve deeper into a different kind of disturbing, and i think our glimpse into the future style is sergal the rancid (and heartless one to an extent). with how out of place he seems in the world up to that point in the story, but still being kinda scary, kinda beautiful, kinda BADASS. and just like the stuff that makes funger 2 fantastic were already there in the first game, the series has always been scary, beautiful and badass, but i think that's where the focus will go to in 3
My guess is that we should start asking the new gods stuff on Funger1 like thise gods are able to talk about termina stuff, maybe they can talk about funger3 stuff if we ask about the right stuff
Given the statement of 90% of the fanbase being disappointed, makes me wonder if it will still even be on the RPG maker engine, or still a top down, turn based game. Would be interesting to see Fear & Hunger taken in the action rpg direction.
I think there could be tons of cool things instead of relying in the cyberpunk/post apocalyptic setting per se. I think the game can work in a place that hasn't been destroyed (yet). Like in the middle of riots. You can gradually change the setting to be more and more destroy until the place is wildly different than when you started. So the mechanics of the game can work in this: it's a free for all and everyone is fighting for scraps so the game would start with fights with regular people until, out of nowhere, there are monsters and it gets worse. I think that's a better idea than go with the cyberpunk 2077/fallout route
I think a space setting would be super sick. Lean on the lovecraft horror. Spoiler: Abella’s ending was wanted to go space & Logic could propel humanity into a more futuristic society
Fear and Hunger 3 will probably be set in the future. I’m imagining like Blade Runner sort of stuff with robots and AI gods. Like I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.
Radiation could gave some new takes on the moonschorched. A post apocalypse world could be a sign of rher getting "paybayck" because of how sulfur cultists and the machine god followers explored his "festival". The moon high in the night sky scorching the earth would be cool. The great cities survive because of the machine god(tecnology and etc) and the sulfur cultists/old gods retreat to the underground.
Tbh i tried it two days ago after UA-cam reccomanded me a bunsh of shorts about the lore . It looked very basic to my liking but it was interesting...just too hard for me lol
my guess is that the third game will take in an apocalypse like setting and another new god will be born to "save" the current world continuing the cycle, or maybe miro will do something unexpected
fear and hunger was never POST-apocalyptic. fear and hunger has always revolved around unknowable godlike horrors happening simultaneously with normal life. Rher’s influence was only in prehevil, the horrors of the dungeon were localized completely within it.
Since fear and hunger 2 takes place around 500 years after the first one, it's safe to assume the third one will take place around 2400-2500 ad. The only other thing I could imagine is that it's a prequel and you play in ancient times as the first humans who start the new god cycle.
I interpret "90% of the fanbase will be disappointed" as "we're making the game something resembling easier."

We cand explore much more thw concept of the unknown, where the older god went, etc
L take, collectivism is based
I hope the game kicks off with our character saying "It's fear and hungering time" and proceeds to fear and hunger all over the place.
i hope they say "im fucking hungry! fungry even. "
YOURE AN NPC
Maybe it will be similar scenario to BLAME! That's the only futuristic setting that fits perfectly in my mind.
Could you give a brief summary of BLAME's premises for those of us who are unfamiliar with it, like me.
@@lordexohunter558 its about an ai linked with a machinery that was capable of building itself, but it goes bad and the machines keep building themselves continuously, covering the whole world with machines, weird structures, endless tunnels and so on.
I’d say that WH 40k even has (some) aspects that could work well in a potential funger 3. Hive cities and servators are the first two that come to mind, though I’m sure there’s more.
The mechanicus is a machine god cult too
@@internettransient8525 Absolutely, ad mech would work great.
It's le'gard the emperor of humanity?
@@xenodder7433 Nah, Le'gard is like...omega dead dead
I had a nightmare where Fear & Hunger 3 involves time travelers who are from key points in history. Someone would gather them for an experiment, but the Old Ones would gather them to try and change the timelines, so they stay in power.
A few people I had recalled were a girl from the Salem Witch Trials, A Slave before Slavery was abolished, a History teacher, a WW2 field Medic, and a Victorian Era Chemist.
Miro about to pull off a Serial Experiments Lain
I would love a early 2000s digital internet settings
Honestly termina was so eerie to me, the mangled monstrosities in a medieval setting are almost expected at this point but the 30s aesthetic really creeped me out. I really hope we see fear and hunger 3 in an 2000s aesthetic, the subtle wrongness would scratch a horror itch i didnt even know i had.
ngl, funger 2 didn't give me the feeling the first game did. Let's hope the 3rd game does justice.
Horror and Beauty all wrapped up in a skin-sandwich.
i was genuinely wondering about funger 3 and the time period myself for a few days now, and whether that would work since scifi is generally one of the harder genres to pull off, nice to see a whole video on it lol. subbed
I think vinushka will be a bit upset with us
Yea but it's kinda dead...
More like literally departed
😂
I had a Dream about fear and hunger 3 where they either kill off moonless or they dont even add her to the bloody game sadly ;-;
_And_ it provides a reasonable explaination for the returning horrors to be back: The ancient relics are now apart of a *brand-new museum exhibit!*
Also… *Could Ragnvaldr / August’s descendant somehow end up having a mechanic where she turns into a Moonless-esque werewolf form? Please I’d be so down for that-*
**bonk**
It won’t be anything like what we’ve seen before in media.
fear and hunger 2's setting was basically the direct result of the 2 new cannon gods from fear and hunger one (the yellow king's rule combined with the drive created by the God of fear and hunger) so it will probably be some kind of matrix situation considering Logic was supposed to be everyone's combined consciousness.
can we rescue johnny silverhand in fear & hunger 3 pretty please ?
I'd rather not. Guy was kind of an asshole.
I would absolutely love it if it was a concept similar to Live a Live.
Letting the player select a character that plays in a definite era and try to influence the world and the future of humankind/old gods. Each character finale leading up to a final grand finale
I’m not really sure Logic will be “evil” per se. I could personally imagine Logic as a “Chaotic Neutral” at worst in the grand scheme of things…
Now the Sulfur God? I can very much imagine HIM as the villain of Fear and Hunger 3.
Curious to see what it will be like when it comes out in like 4-8 years
So for Funger 3 there are either two scenarios that can take place- the first is that Logic and Rher are present and the other is where only Logic is present(either Rher has left the world or has been killed depending on which parts of the endings of Termina are cannon).
I wish F&H 3 would take back into the journey of the fellowship and the rise of the new gods where we can take 5 of the character as an option and sees how it shapes the game and affecting F&H 1 and 2
Assuming that every FaH fan had a dream related to FaH 3:
I had a dream where FaH 3 happens in some sort of really big or infinite manor, with a staircase in the middle leading to other floors.(There was a needles rippoff stalking the player)
It could be a plane crash on a mysterious island or far future space prison, a group of people could be sent to this prison colony etc for various reasons
i think two games isnt enough to confirm a "pattern" in the time settings however, with the emergence of Logic, it could be a possibility
My personal favorite idea is fear and hunger 3 taking place during the 50-60s space race time. A race to see who can get rocket ships to the moon when its moon god rher makes it a lot more complicated and interesting
Colonizing Vinland when?
If they are going to a future setting I feel like a good inspiration could be the horror of I have no mouth and must scream.
I think maybe a prequel where we see the rise of gro goroth and Sylvian or perhaps all-mer. Like seeing how the sulphur god and all-mer. How humanity went from being primal animalistic like beings into what we see in Funger 1.
If we get a modern setting it would be amazing. I've loved playing Funger 1 and I havent touched 2 yet but the worldbuilding is so cool.
I believe it should be a FULL galactic aventure in search of the Old Gods that abandoned humanity. Full Dead Space style.
Nah the creator of fear and hunger is the type of guy that will make the third game a dating sim just to hide 400 different cult eastereggs within the games code
Are those stairs just for decoration, or do they go anywhere? This house looks like an illusion.
Weird Dream Internet is all I ask from Funger 3
I haven’t played those games but I can’t wait for the third release to watch another 100 hours of lore and stories on YT.
6:55 those arent dopplegangers?
All i have to say is Space God. A God based off our adventures to the beyond. Call this The Age of Voyage. Due to our haunted world by "New Gods" that just dont die and "Old Gods" that dont even help us. In this, we find out that theres worse out there. The solution is in this world not in space. However. We acend in this voyage. But we get stuck on another planet. Never to help yet wander. (As an S ending)
I hope Funger 3 is a murder mystery and you get to play as a gunshoes detective in a sorta sci-fi corpo setting or post apocalyptic hellscape or combo between the two.
i hope it would reference the backrooms a bit, since it is essentially a modern random generated dungeon as well
Orange is working on some changes/updates for termina at this moment
I think that due to the severity of the time jump between 1 and 2, 3 will take place in like year 2400
I hope F&H3 is medieval again, loved the first one's setting.
Loved both f&h1 and f&h2, different experiences yet both very good.
My first thought was: F&H 3 would be set un Vinland
I kinda enjoy the idea of the scale of the game increasing. If you think about it fear and hunger one and two were both technically open world games and each one increased in scope.
I think the idea of functional cities and towns would be fine while the outside world is a massive wreck
i get the feeling that the disapointment thing will be a change of focus in either gameplay or tone. gameplay wise it could be like less playable characters, or miro might even tinker with a create-your-character style. tone wise, i think the game will still be violent, bloody, disturbing and even scary at times, with incredible story and lore as always, but he's gonna tone down the grotesque stuff. like how from funger 1 to 2 the nudity and sexual themes calmed down a bit (still very much there, but more sporadic), from 2 to 3 we may see less of the grotesque, like all the moonscorched townsfolk, but it will still definitely be there. in its stead, miro may dwelve deeper into a different kind of disturbing, and i think our glimpse into the future style is sergal the rancid (and heartless one to an extent). with how out of place he seems in the world up to that point in the story, but still being kinda scary, kinda beautiful, kinda BADASS. and just like the stuff that makes funger 2 fantastic were already there in the first game, the series has always been scary, beautiful and badass, but i think that's where the focus will go to in 3
4:30 probably we finally will know vinland or the eastern?
My guess is that we should start asking the new gods stuff on Funger1 like thise gods are able to talk about termina stuff, maybe they can talk about funger3 stuff if we ask about the right stuff
Given the statement of 90% of the fanbase being disappointed, makes me wonder if it will still even be on the RPG maker engine, or still a top down, turn based game. Would be interesting to see Fear & Hunger taken in the action rpg direction.
or integrate an atb system and tactical-rpg elements.
I'm excited.
It’s gonna be am apocalyptic wasteland of some sorts
i have an urging feeling that its gonna be set in like the 1980s and its like a modern prehevil city or like neighborhood and stuff
Cyberpunk future JRPG where you slay the gods... together.
Now we can devoa tha gods togetha
The setting will definitely be like Dead Space 1
Would be awesome if FoH 3 takes heavy influence from the System Shock franchise. It'll be a great addition to the techno-horror genre.
