Best source of flavanols: green tea, apples, cocoa products, berries, grapes. Fruits especially that have color, and astringency. 3:30

My plaque was reduced by eating a wfpbd. The improvement was dramatic enough after one year that it impressed my cardiologist who told "I was curing myself" of my arteriosclerosis.

Great talk , thank you. This is one question for Dr. Rahman. You mentioned fortified plant milks, but I understand that calcium supplements are all bad for the heart. So would foods fortified with calcium also fall into that category? I would suspect so.

Wonderful information. Thank you so much for all the hard work that all of your staff does to bring us these helpful, life-saving videos. Question: Many of us in your audience suffer from conditions where we have to avoid high-histamine foods. Please give us more information on this and a WFPB lifestyle. I have to avoid all spices (not herbs), vinegars, fermented foods (except tofu). And eating SOS free leaves me with a somewhat bland diet. I become quite ill if I persist in getting off track on this. I believe I have a deficiency of the enzyme DAO to digest histamine.

Alliums like garlic and onion are your friends. I'd also recommend you try cooking with ginger root and turmeric root - both can be easily stored in the freezer and you don't need to unthaw them before using them, so they're very low histamine friendly. If you can do nightshades, it helps to use the actual peppers rather than dried spices like paprika/cayenne. In regards to vinegar, lemon juice can be used instead in pretty much every case. If you react to citrus too, unsweetened cranberry juice works just as well! If you can't do nightshades, I recommend you make a nomato sauce and add either lemon juice or unsweetened cranberry juice to help make it acidic like tomatoes are.

How much fiber do you get daily? You might try tracking your foods in Cronometer for a few days to see how you stack up. I get about 8 cups of fluid a day, water or tea, soymilk, rarely decaf coffee. Cronometer will track this for you. As you already know, you need adequate water for fiber to work, you got to take it at the same time as your fiber.
If you're getting adequate fiber and water, next thing to check is iodine. Especially since WFPB means plenty of crucifers and other foods which bind iodine. I take lifeflo iodine to make sure I get my 150 mcgs, ( three drops daily) and cook my beans with a small slice of kelp.
If this doesn't change things, ask your doctor for a TSH test to check your thyroid function. Thyroid sometimes struggles as we age, particularly for females. Good luck and good health to you! 🌸🌱

Sorry to hear about your problem. If I were you I would pay close attention to what works individually for you instead of just all whole plant foods periods for example, for some reason when I eat certain types of beans and when I eat cooked greens text couple days for them to shall we say pass through the system. But other things like raw salad greens can go right through me. You also might want to think about reducing starches or eating them with the things you know don't give you a problem. And yes, more water especially earlier in the day!

@@judymoore6394 There are other causes, but redundant colon was mine. I didn't realize going 2-3 times a WEEK wasn't normal, bc it was normal for me. The colon is where water is removed, when you have an extra long one, too much water is taken out, which makes stool hard and difficult to pass. I also developed low thyroid at menopause, which slowed things down even more if you can believe it!
Sorry... trying to be PC here, failing miserably! 😆 Thankfully the hints I gave you( and leaving animal products behind), "cured" my problem. Also put a bit of inulin in my morning tea as recommended by my doctor. Hope these hints work for you. 🌱

No, generally the plaque does not diminish. It is just improved dilation and stabilization of the plaques. Once the plaques exist, they are encapsulated by a layer of endothelial cells and permanently blocked. What that means is that if you stray from the proper diet and lifestyle, the dilation impairment and traumatic effects return almost immediately. Also, do not use calcium supplements or supplemented calcium as calcium has more of a negative effect for heart disease.

    Flavanols for BP
    Green Tea
    Cocoa
Berries - blueberries may be top
    Grapes
    Apples
    Pomegranate
Fat is mentioned several times throughout this video and I wonder if they are really talking about trans and saturated fats.
I am not certain that extra virgin olive oil is unhealthy.

A lot of the information in this video is very flawed. It seems they have an agenda. Do your own research and establish your own eating regimen. With enough research and knowledge you'll be able to make the proper decisions on what to eat and make you feel better. You can't remain in top health without proper Omega-3 and Omega-6 balance. Very hard to find in plant based diet. Not knocking the diet. Just saying, do your research. This is the only body you'll ever have. It's worth reading a lot to take care of it. And that's what it takes. A lot of reading.

Show us the fat sick person eating just white rice and vegetables or just potatoes and vegetables. There are none cause they would be extremely healthy. Sweet potatoes plus vegetables were the basic staples of the Okinawan centenarians. So if you want to someone to live to 100, then take a lesson from them. Try it for one month and you will see. Remember, just sweet potatoes and vegetables.

Whole grains like organic oatmeal are good for you. Plants foods that are unrefined are carbs and they are what your body needs. Lots of veggies, beans, legumes, some fruits. Processed food is another matter, which is bad.
