Nutritarian testimony: I've been strict WPFBNSOS for four years, following all the WPFB docs.
BUT, it wasn't until I ate Nutritarian that I experienced the euphoric high of this highly concentrated nutritient plan. It's getting the most micronutrients per your calorie buck....like the highest quality octane fuel for your Ferrari. My energy, mood and mental focus went through the roof because of the increase in MICRONUTRIENTS.
IMPORTANT: My desire for junk food was 95% healed on WFBP, but it was 100% healed on the Nutritarian plan. I credit the focus on micoronutrients for accomplishing that miracle!!! For me, the McDougall or other plans didn't accomplish that.
I bow at Dr. Fuhrman's feet for designing this plan.

Sounds like she ate some low carb vegetables and fruits too. She wasn't like so many of us today where we are obsessed with tastey high fat, salty foods but really my biggest hangup is sweet baked goods.

I love Dr Fuhrman. I identify as a Nutritarian. I’m a Whole Foods Vegan, SOS free, and I have kept 150 pounds off for 6 years. The pandemic really helped me consolidate my daily habits. I do best when I don’t attend social functions. I cannot go to potlucks, not even vegan potlucks, because there’s nothing but bad choices except for what I bring. I am received with “Oh thank goodness, someone brought vegetables!” I love boosting the micronutrient density of everything I prepare, and even the whole process of figuring out how I can do that living under the federal poverty line. It’s almost like, if it was easy and I had all the money I needed to eat for the whole month the way I want to, it wouldn’t be enough of a challenge for me! I love the challenge, I love the intellectual challenge, I love foraging for some of my food, I include dandelions. I’ve had a prescription for fish oil for omega 3, but as soon as my social security retirement starts and I have an income again, I will get algae based omegas to replace fish oil. It’s not fair that my insurance will not respect my vegan lifestyle and approve vegan sourced Omegas by prescription when I am a 65 year old senior with zero income. I have had to apply for retirement early and receive less money because I need to buy with cash omega 3 supplements that insurance will only cover from animal sources. My doctor refuses to order an omega sufficiency lab test, so I can’t see if all the flax and walnuts I consume are being converted to DHA/EPA. It’s also harder to get an adequate amount of fresh, clean produce for the whole month on food benefits than to buy cheap, conventional flour and sugar based processed foods that are so heavily subsidized by the government. Everything is stacked against me, and I am challenged with turning everything to my good. Eventually, it would be wonderful if I could carve out a peaceful space of time to write about how I have transformed my health against all the odds and trends under the federal poverty line. Thank goodness for Dr Fuhrman. Thank goodness I have to walk and take the bus. Thank goodness I can’t buy anything I want any minute of the day. Thank goodness I have to wait. Thank goodness I have to plan every purchase out to the cent. Thank goodness if I miss the mark I go hungry. I see what happens when you don’t live with that pressure and you don’t have enough time to read and view and learn and practice to create the daily habits that serve your health because your energy is all going to a successful career.
On potatoes: I live below the federal poverty line. When I don’t include some potatoes in my diet, I literally cannot eat for the whole month. I use the potato dish to add onions, greens, carrots, mushrooms, nutritional yeast, turmeric, and other spices. I make it a vehicle for as much micronutrient dense ness as I can afford. I wish I could afford all the cauliflower I want, I would make my mashed potatoes with cauliflower all the time.
On oil: I wish I could afford to add nuts and seeds to my salads every day of the month for my healthy fat needs, and while I’m wishing, I wish I could use avocado every day as well, and I wish I could afford to eat salad every day while I’m wishing for things. I can’t do it below the federal poverty line. At some point in the second half of my foodstamp month, I am out of walnuts and pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds and even greens. I forage then. I do have flax all month. I will use a measured teaspoon of organic olive oil or sesame oil with vegetables if I don’t have nuts or seeds to consume with them. I have often just eaten fresh ground flax seeds at the same time as consuming the vegetables. I can do it if that’s my only choice for getting healthy fat to help absorb nutrients. Every strategy is on the table, and the table is loaded with as much micronutrient dense foods as I can get my hands on. I bet I’m more compliant with a Nutritarian food style than most people who have enough money to do it to the letter.

Thank you so much for helping us all learn to get our health back and to be the inspiration for others to follow the path to healthy living. If only the insurance companies would help supplement us with healthy food stipends for organic vegetables, that would go a long way to getting all people eating healthy and staying disease free, it would save money in the long run by cutting disease treatments in hospitals, it's a win win protocol. Blessings to you and many thanks again.

As a child, my parents INSISTED I eat meat. I would vomit. I was forced to sit at the table for hours until I ate the meat, which I not only would not, but could not, it made me ill. Eventually, my parents to me to a doctor who told my parents to simply allow me to eat what I would keep down, which was plants. As I got older, may parents still insisting there was something "wrong" with me since the SAD meat heavy diet made me vomit, took me back to a doctor who told them I was missing a digestive enzyme that would enable me to digest animal proteins, so essentially, I have sort of an allergy to animal proteins. So, I don't necessarily think it's really a great idea to insist that someone eat something that they have an adverse reaction to.

It would be great to have an entire interview with Dr. Fuhrman devoted to discussions of his early experiences with nutrition and health and the evolution of his understanding. I am also always fascinated to hear about personal family experiences when doctors are willing to share. From this interview, I looked into information about some people Dr. Fuhrman mentioned such as Dr. Vivian Virginia Vetrano, Dr. Keki Sidhwa, and Dr. Alec Burton. I was familiar with Herbert Shelton from online recordings and his book on fasting. I buy many old books of health seekers because I am interested in how much we knew and when did we know it. I feel so sad that the health pioneers often did not know what they needed most, but I realize that future generations will probably feel the same for us. Cheers!

I did not understand what scallions were for a long time. Finally I looked it up. Green onions. I assume garlic chives count. I have a lot of them growing on in my yard right now - so I eat those a lot. Probably many different varieties of green onions I could be getting. I was growing Egyptian walking onions last year, which should've increased this year, but seem sadly to have disappeared. For a long time I thought scallions were those shallot things - which are the red onion / garlic shaped bulbs. Leeks, I guess are another green onion.

His wife looked like mentally she was away with the fairies which concerned me greatly. Such lovely people too and I love some of her recipes AND he has good information to impart but, but, he's not right on everything (he seems to hate that) and is stubbornly stuck on some things. I think Fuhrman really respects people. I can see how he might appear abrasive - especially in his earlier book Eat to Live. It's not for everyone; it's for people who want it. I think is what he said then. (Don't cast your pearls before swine, essentially). Now he talks about food addictions, and difficulties people have. But the idea of giving them the best information, so that they have informed consent, and then respecting their right to make their own decisions. What do you do with people who don't want to hear anything, I find people asking me "Everything in moderation, right?" This question drives me crazy. I respect your right to make your own decisions, and I respect if you don't want to hear my opinions, but please don't ask me to condone your diet, if I think it's killing you. I don't know how to say that so they'll listen to the end. I might just try "No, of course not. I don't think we should drink soda or eat potato chips at all".

That's how I feel now too. If I go out to eat, it's grossly over salted. And then I wake up feeling dehydrated. That happens when I eat beans, lettuce, pico, and guac at a Mexican restaurant. If I go out for Asian food, I somewhat like it, white rice is okay eating it, but I know it's terrible for me, and the sauce is always way over the top salty. I just keep thinking, I wish I could go back there and prepare the food myself, because I know they have: snow peas, cashews - maybe they don't have raw ones, but I know they're burning the shit out of 'em back there and I could throw 'em on after steaming the veggies. They don't know what fucking steaming is. If I go to the Mongolian grill and I say no oil, but put a lot of water on the grill immediately so that the vegetables are enveloped in a cloud of steam and cooking quickly, not burning on the hot grill at the point of contact, etc, etc. So, if I'm not enjoying it as much as healthful food that I prepare, and I know it's bad for me, and I feel like shit afterwards, why in the fuckety fuck would I do it. i don't need it, either.

Herbert Shelton was in the military and he was subjected to a bunch of mandatory vaccines, maybe that's what caused him to die under 90. He's been put in jail and was under a lot of pressure for constantly speaking the truth also. But btw, it's not mentioned in his biography that he had Parkinson's, so I wonder if it's just a rumour. In any case, if he did have parkinson's it probably wasn't from an Omega-3 deficiency because he ate a lot of nuts.

just eating lots of nuts does not guarantee adequate EPA/DHA because many nuts contain more omega-6 than omega-3, and also the ALA in walnuts may not get converted to EPA/DHA in adequate quantities depending on the particular person's conversion rate - Dr. Fuhrman has written about this topic in his books and has spoken about it in various interviews and presentations - good luck! - by the way, I really enjoy listening to those old recordings of Herbert Shelton speaking!

@@greensmoothieparty Shelton said that pecans were the kings of nuts, so he probably had enough omega threes. As for the conversion rate to EPA/DHA, given the conflicting data and the fact that there is a lot of pressure to get people to buy pills, I think I'll go out on a limb and take it as a stretch that Shelton got parkinson's (which I'm not exactly sure he even had) from lack of proper conversion of ALA. Btw, if we factor in the tumultuous life he led fighting corruption and the fact he was born two months premature, does passing away at 89 not seem reasonable?

@@jean-chritophedesjarlais8435 I read that Herbert Shelton suffered from poor health for more than two decades at the end of his life which is very sad for someone who had devoted his lifetime to promoting more healthful living. While looking into some names from the Natural Hygiene movement that Dr. Fuhrman mentions in this interview, I found a pdf of a Natural Hygiene publication called The Revelation of Health with the very unfortunate and dangerous text below:
      THE VITAMIN B-12 HOAX
The meat, dairy and poultry industries have tried to saddle many myths upon vegetarians and meat eaters alike. One of these myths is that we must get Vitamin B-12 from animal sources. The question of nonmeat-eating animals come by their Vitamin B-12 we are supposed to ignore! Anyway, some new experiments with baboons give the lie to the meat/dairy/poultry myth makers. Baboons, primates who live almost exclusively on fruits with some vegetable fare, were fed diets totally devoid of Vitamin B-12. Tests showed that their Vitamin B-12 uptake was just as much as if it were in the diet. It was demonstrated that just about all types of bacterial flora in the stomach and intestines create Vitamin B-12 in plentitude. It is very instructive to note that most of our sufferers from Vitamin B-12 shortage are not vegetarians, vegans or fruitarians. They're meat eaters! It is also instructive that those suffering from anemia supposedly due to a Vitamin B-12 shortage have plenty of Vitamin B- 12! Moreover, fasting anemics where no new Vitamin B-12 is taken corrects the anemia.

@@greensmoothieparty thank you for sharing that text. We might agree or disagree with it but it sure is interesting, to me at least. Also there is something we might want to consider regarding Shelton's alleged poor health during the last two decades of his life: maybe he was using his health as an excuse in order to gently decline the huge number of sollicitations of various kinds his notoriety got him. This can really be a problem you know, I remember a famous author saying "everybody wanted his half an hour!".
