This opinion has not changed over a year and a half later. Yet, I think a lot of the hate is unwarranted. I think people are not judging Eredin fairly, meaning, they analyze him under the same lens as any other character, which I think is the wrong approach. Here's why. As we've all discussed at length, CD Projekt is really good at making complex, grey characters. So why is the main baddie of this epic fantasy drama a gravelly-voiced nobody with less depth than your average Saturday-morning cartoon villain? I'm of the opinion that this was done intentionally. Eredin is not meant to be character we are supposed to ponder the actions of, wonder what goes on through his head. He, and the Wild Hunt, are meant to be a force of nature - a constant, very real threat always hanging over our protagonists' heads. They're a formidable force, one whose power is truly felt throughout the duration of Wild Hunt's main quest. This isn't a revolutionary idea, but think Sauron, from Lord of the Rings. They're both a foe who can never be defeated through conventional means, and is only ever overcome when a retreat is forced to be made (the Battle at Kaer Morhen) or trickery (Thin Ice). Ultimately, both sides' undoing is what they themselves instigate: an alliance of the world they are invading. Eredin himself is the face of the Wild Hunt: mysterious, powerful, intimidating, and scary. Showing anything more than that will ruin this image. And to me, every scene he is in carries this sort of presence. Even when the truth of both him and his riders are revealed, that they are not wraiths or a demonic force, but elves from another dimension, this actually serves to make them even scarier. It humanizes them enough to give their threat more weight. Their skeletal armor is meant to strike fear in those they invade, and is possibly symbolic of the Aen Elle's own fall from grace. For we typically see elves of a noble kind, not at all fitting the intimidating appearance of the Red Riders. I'm sure I didn't bring up any world-rocking new insights about Eredin or the Wild Hunt, but I just wanted to throw it out there that for what it's worth, Eredin does exactly what CDProjekt wanted out of his character. I think he's an effective villain, even if his armor has more character than the elf wearing it.
Stop making excuses for bad game design, its a well known fact that towards the end of witcher 3 they had to rush the game due to constant delays. You can even see it toward the end off the main story telling, everything was just getting rushed. I hate seeing stupid comments like these that try to add some esoteric view to a character to a character that was never intended in the first place. Witcher 1 gave eredin beautiful exposition and came to geralt as his harbinger of justice and evil toward the end of the game. He showed geralt there is no black and white choice, there always has to be a sacrifice despite what the player may think. Your comment is essentially saying “blah never talks because force of nature and evil, doesnt need to” well than might as well apply that dumb rationality to every underdeveloped character in every underdeveloped game.
I've seen this reddit post before saying the exact same thing lmao, not many agreed with it either. It's just an excuse for poor writing. CD Projekt Red even admitted to not having enough time to spending on the character, so no. It is not "intentional".
Was i the only one dissapointed with this boss fight? I still feel that imlerith was a way more interesting boss fight, and the cutscene were Geralt obliterates him was so fucking badass and satisfying that it made me believe that they saved the best for last with Eredin but it was nowhere near Imlerith and that really dissapointed me
I was disappointed with this boss fight. Irmeleth was a lot harder. I played on the difficulty before death march and it took me over a day to get lucky enough to evade all of his rapid teleports but killed eradin on the first try. He didn't have the teleport mechanics that made it difficult. Which made no sense because irmeleth was a general and eredin is the king of the wild hunt. Should have been reversed.
***** To be honest, I didn't think any of the wild hunt generals were particularly hard. I beat the game on Death March and killed Imlerith and Eredin on my first try and Caranthir on my second. Superior White Raffard's Decoction was a godsend!!! I found some of those Witcher Contracts to be WAAAYYYY harder...lol
+Cojultad i would like to see Eredin vs Imlerith , they also say that Imlerith is the best warrior of those 3 elfs, but Geralt caught im off guard. and Eredin is the King is not necesery stronger than Imlerith.
I love the contrast between how Eredin and Geralt treat their defeated foes. Eredin shows his cruelty by tossing Crach's ax back to him, forcing a mortally wounded man to continue fighting. Geralt, by comparison, after soundly defeating Eredin, kicks his sword away as he tries to reach for it. It's as if he's saying, "You've lost. This ends now."
I actually thought, he was giving him an honorable death, considering he's a Skelliger. He tossed him the axe to go out in a fight and even asked him for last words (although that might also been as some sort of mockery), but I stick with my first intuition.
@@arachnidoverlord6302 That twisting the sword really surprised me. Didn't expect Geralt to do something like that, especially since Caranthir isn't that evil anyway.
I played it on the hardest difficulty and I really think he should do more damage. His magic was too easy to evade and the only problem was his teleport + fast attacks. But because he did practicly no damage with it, it was easy to heal it with Quen. They should boost his damage in next patch at least, the previous one (elven mage with staff, idk the name) was much harder.
What to u mean practically no damage hhis magic attacks tok a third of my health maybe it's because i have weaker armour and am playing in death March plus enemy upscaling this bright isharder than canthair
@@fleuttre4510 I fought him on death march yesterday. I was level 34 and he was one of the easiest bosses in the game aside from some of the witcher contracts I did later on in my playthrough. Hell, the basic enemies I fought leading up to him did more damage per hit, being about a third of my health because, you know, death march. And I cant speak to the damage of his magic attacks, because none of them ever got close to hitting me. They are all exceptionally easy to dodge, and even if you are having trouble getting close to Eredin to hit him, you can just throw a dancing star at him, or one of the other bombs he is weak to. I can only assume that you rushed the main story and were super under leveled in the fight, because anybody with a decent amount of levels, and a passing knowledge of how counterattacks work can beat this boss.
First time I played this I figured something out, but now I'm playing on Broken Bones and he kills me with that magic attack. He's doing no damage to you at all. Was this on normal?
***** in a fairly realistic fantasy such as the witcher, I find it funny that the big bad Eredin, the leader of omens didn't even manage to make geralt bleed.

Lolicage Ohhh...but it SO MUCH MORE satisfing when you manage to kill him in Death March after SOOOOO many attempts.... I even did a victory dance!! " I fight for those i hold dear..."
First try on death march i got him down to literally zero health and the 2nd portal that takes you back to the ship wouldnt let me through, i just got bombed by all the blue shit n couldnt see anything, was well dissappointed but got it done 2nd time.
Man when he got him the eye and then stands there all cool, that was a moment I'll remember from this game. Also for those complaining, this is on a very easy difficulty. On Death March one of Eredin's blows will take maybe 20% of his health away.
I wanted to keep it, because I thought it was important (when I got it, it thought it would be an awesome sword), but unfortunately, it's for lvl < 25. Didn't use it even once.
For people who thinks is smart saying this game shits on Bloodborne... Stop that BS. I recently played both and they are both freaking amazing, 2 wonderful proves of what the AAA industry is still capable of. I personally prefer BB, but in the end, it come to personal preference... So just enjoy both (sorry for bad english)
Bloodborne is about killing and getting better every time. It hasn’t got any kind of story to get into which is kinda normal but I think Witcher 3 is more complex and much easier to get used to. Bloodborne is a constant challenge. They feel similar but are very different.
James Bell oh gosh. Don’t be a fucking bellend. I’ve finished Bloodborne twice. What I meant was that the story in Bloodborne can’t compare to Witcher’s. The game is not efficient in telling you the story etc. A lot of side and random npcs around that will be ignored cuz you simply had no idea they exist. Bloodborne is a good game but the Witcher is simply better with its story and basically everything else.
Mr Unknown you realize a story can be told by different types of narrative, right? The Witcher series handles the narrative much like a movie or a book, in which you have to pay attention to the characters and events. Bloodborne is completely different; it handles the narrative as a mysterious set of pieces that the player has to put together. In BB, every little thing tells you a story, even items like keys have descriptions. To understand the whole lore of BB you would have to pay attention to a lot of details that aren't just throw in your head, and because the game talks about different planes of existence, dreams, the human mind and other things the way the game handles its story is very fitting.
RagingAsianGuy Probably wasn't Crach's. Probably some random weapon laying around. Crach has all sorts of exceptional weapons, I doubt he took a lumberjack's ax with him against the Wild Hunt.
I did Eredin on my first try, staying at almost full HP without using any healing potions. He was just easy. His ranged attacks were very easy to dodge and his normal attacks were again easy, I just pressed alt when he started his combo, got behind him and attacked or I just waited for him to strike his heavy attack and stopped it with a quick one. It took me like 5-10 mins to beat him, but I took almost no damage. Oh and the Quen sign really helps if someone's struggling at this boss.
Did anyone notice how because he had no depth perception after his eye was poked out, he couldn't perceive how far away Geralt was from him and he swung too late and got killed?
Easiest boss in DarkSouls/Bloodborne is tougher than Eredin fight or the whole Wild Hunt bosses, this is one thing CD Project didn't really work hard on it.. all of his movements are predictable and easy to dodge no matter what difficulty you're playing the game, they showed us how strong the Wild Hunt is when they break thro Kaer Morhen and nearly destroyed the castle but then making them easy to kill? Just doesn't make sense. I love the game so much that's why I'm annoyed about this point.
1:00 if crach just waited another 10 or 20 seconds geralt could have saved him shame he died i really liked crach really nice guy a true friend to geralt 😢
To people saying he's easy: He's not fucking easy. This guy played this on Normal difficulty at the highest. Try fighting this boss on Death March. Then you can try and call him and easy boss.
I just finished on Death March and have to say, indeed, that he is not that hard. I found Imlerith a good bit harder because he has a slightly bigger melee attack range. Also, Imlerith's attacks take half of your health bar if you get hit - compare that to Eredin. The only thing Eredin has is an incredibly large health pool, which won't get him very far. (In my opinion though, the hardest boss in the game is the werewolf in one of the low-level quests when you're level 5. That may be partly because you don't know the battle mechanics well enough then, but still.) The performance of this player in the video though is complete trash.
I completely agree. Imlerith was a bitch to beat. I think people are saying this boss is easy because this player in the video played like complete trash.
To the people saying this boss was easy...Eredin is not easy, you are too good playing! Let me explain: Out there there are people who can beat Dark Souls without dying. Is it because the game is too easy? No, it's because they are too good playing it. I had to fight this guy five times, because I committed some mistakes and he has some attacks that killed me with two hits, but then I focused, played better and kicked his ass...Caranthir, now that was an easy boss fight...
I wish open world mmorpg would fight a little more like fighting game. For Examples; Real time individual move, jump, duck, left hand punch, right hand punch, left kick, and right kick. That alone allows for a lot of real time decisions, and you wouldn't be locked into a repetitive combo that's always the same. Sure there's a lot of "set moves" but still it's set, you can't make do anything until the combo finishes, which results in the boss being on the other side of the map and you are still swinging combos at nothing but air.
Yes the last boss fight was disappointing but they redeemed it with Blood and Wine. Also I noticed how when Eredin strikes down Crach, Geralt does so in a similar way with Eredin.
Imerith was a joke as well for me actually. And that one boss fight with Kiera wasn't hard it's just annoying when his health goes up. When I learned his strategy, it became easy.
Witcher 2 scarred me. Every time I watch Yrden being cast I just get flashbacks of my stress when fighting the Kayran and Síle shouting "TRAP IT WITH YRDEN" and for some reason it never fucking worked.
I laughed so hard when Eredin was just like "this is getting cramped let's go somewhere more scenic" and tosses Geralt through a damn portal, his least favorite mode of transportation. RIP Crach

I think he's an effective villain, even if his armor has more character than the elf wearing it.
ryaan Asady I'm disappointed that your longass comment only got 11 likes
Stop making excuses for bad game design, its a well known fact that towards the end of witcher 3 they had to rush the game due to constant delays. You can even see it toward the end off the main story telling, everything was just getting rushed. I hate seeing stupid comments like these that try to add some esoteric view to a character to a character that was never intended in the first place. Witcher 1 gave eredin beautiful exposition and came to geralt as his harbinger of justice and evil toward the end of the game. He showed geralt there is no black and white choice, there always has to be a sacrifice despite what the player may think. Your comment is essentially saying “blah never talks because force of nature and evil, doesnt need to” well than might as well apply that dumb rationality to every underdeveloped character in every underdeveloped game.
ryaan Asady bullshit this final boss was a very horrible bad design period, secondly stop making excuses for a rushed ending of the game
I agree with what you say, but they fould have made the boss fight a little more fun. The boss fight was kinda boring
I've seen this reddit post before saying the exact same thing lmao, not many agreed with it either. It's just an excuse for poor writing. CD Projekt Red even admitted to not having enough time to spending on the character, so no. It is not "intentional".
the way geralt stabs his eye is just so god damn badass i get chills everytime
The funny thing is that Eredin said to him "come on show me your spins and twirls I want to watch".
Well Geralt showed him lol
Was i the only one dissapointed with this boss fight? I still feel that imlerith was a way more interesting boss fight, and the cutscene were Geralt obliterates him was so fucking badass and satisfying that it made me believe that they saved the best for last with Eredin but it was nowhere near Imlerith and that really dissapointed me
I agree!!!
I feel the same way the fight with eredin was ok but i honestly thought the fight with imlerith was much more challenging.
cenasux115 imlerith boss fight was bad ass I spent most the fight drunk
lmao, imlerith bossfight felt more like a final showdown tbh.
I kinda liked both equally though but the cutscene for imerlith was more badass
2:31 technically it would have been game over for Geralt as Eredin just re-enacted 300 with that kick.
4:53 Hahahaa, "WHAT NOW YOU PIECE OF FIIILTH?!"

+Cojultad A king is not necessarily the best fighter in his country. Right?
+Reguire in the books it says that eredin got beaten by a teenage Ciri, he's not a great fighter. Imlerith is the better between the 3 of them
Thunder Zboub well, thanks for the spoiler
I love the contrast between how Eredin and Geralt treat their defeated foes. Eredin shows his cruelty by tossing Crach's ax back to him, forcing a mortally wounded man to continue fighting. Geralt, by comparison, after soundly defeating Eredin, kicks his sword away as he tries to reach for it. It's as if he's saying, "You've lost. This ends now."
ryanspears1986 he didnt force crach to fight tho..
Geralt twists his sword in Caranthir almost as if to gloat. Both are bad given the right circumstances, as with any person
Eredin respects Crach as enemy, Geralt was tired of Eredin, so he kicked his sword, because He considers him as unworthy asshole
1:14 I love the way he says "Witcher..."

"But ill do so afterwards..."""as you expire.."""" Literally the only reaosn i ever search this cutscene on UA-cam.
JPal
True
Does anyone else get the chills when he puts the mask on and says that line 1:32
This is second time he fight Wild Hunt. First in The Witcher 1, now in The Witcher 3.
How much did took you to get to the end?
***** looks like the "powerful" king just got rekt by a witcher, not so scary now is he.
Sephelutis Lucifus Every villain be rekt by heroes, nothing new.
***** in a fairly realistic fantasy such as the witcher, I find it funny that the big bad Eredin, the leader of omens didn't even manage to make geralt bleed.
Also werewolf confirmed stronger than wild hunt king kappa
Sephelutis Lucifus Neither was Jaquis. But in prison in TW2 he did bleed.
"Damn it, Yen. I was about to torch those hounds and slay every one of them. I'm so close to being able to use my new silver sword! Then you yank my ass out of there."

That's the funny part. The armor is more relevant than his dialogue. And sure he does look like sauron.
Ya’ll really thought this juiced up elf stood a chance against the white wolf?
Once you beat Caranthir you're good to go.
Canonically, Eredin should’ve been Geralt’s toughest challenge. They made him too easy to beat for some reason.

Still waiting for Eredin to drop that asmr...
The most underwhelming part about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the actual WIld Hunt.
I don't know why but I always loved Eridin's parries, looks very skilled. The animation for him was fantastic 👌
Man when he got him the eye and then stands there all cool, that was a moment I'll remember from this game. Also for those complaining, this is on a very easy difficulty. On Death March one of Eredin's blows will take maybe 20% of his health away.

Crach an Craite
I used "Winters Blade" to avenge him.
I wanted to keep it, because I thought it was important (when I got it, it thought it would be an awesome sword), but unfortunately, it's for lvl < 25. Didn't use it even once.
Who is here after the witcher season 2
You can’t even compare this game to bloodborne. Those people doing so are either retarded fucking nerds or children
I find both games so different :))
That eye jab from Geralt was so tasty.
Gives me chills when he says "as you expire" like damn he has a sexy voice

Why can't a king have a better fucking axe
RagingAsianGuy that axe looks like lumberjack, also he got rekt.
RagingAsianGuy He's not a king.
Sephelutis Lucifus
Intern Joe He has money and power.. and that's all that matters
RagingAsianGuy Probably wasn't Crach's. Probably some random weapon laying around.
Crach has all sorts of exceptional weapons, I doubt he took a lumberjack's ax with him against the Wild Hunt.
1:14 start "Holding Out For a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler during thins, and it makes it awesome
Geralts armor looks like links armor from the legend of zelda
Eredins such a badass. Always get goosebumps when he says "Any last words?"
It's very nice to see how geralt didn't gave a shit about crach dying
Didn't even notice that cuz I was crying myself.
Eredin: "As you expire"
Geralt: 3:55 *bonk*
Netflix: This is what Eredin is supposed to look like. Not some skinny homosexual that doesn't look like he could even lift the sword he's carrying.
Eredin: Witcher, I was hoping you would...
Geralt: You play Gwent?
I love Eredins voice sounds so intimidating
I did Eredin on my first try, staying at almost full HP without using any healing potions. He was just easy. His ranged attacks were very easy to dodge and his normal attacks were again easy, I just pressed alt when he started his combo, got behind him and attacked or I just waited for him to strike his heavy attack and stopped it with a quick one. It took me like 5-10 mins to beat him, but I took almost no damage. Oh and the Quen sign really helps if someone's struggling at this boss.
Jon Snow the White Wolf vs The Night King. The fight we've expected, the fight we've sadly never got.

Witcher: *slays Eredin*
Eredin: OOOOF
Toad Prince alone in Heart and Stone expansion is already enough to put the whole Wild Hunt to shame
Piss off I play the game to enjoy not to suffer before I kill someone
Leo ْ Final bosses should be somewhat hard, dark souls easiest boss is easy as shit, the final boss shouldn’t be easy like this
Definetlybut the game is story driven. It's not supposed to be hard.
Le Fromage imlerith should have been the last boss lol.was way more fun.
Nithral took me 4 fucking hours to beat on Death March xD
Le Fromage Eredin was very easy for me on Death March. Didn't need any healing or Quen. I have used mastercrafted Ursine set.

Sometimes I open this video just to hear eredin's voice lol same with kaer morhen battle ending.
you can say whatever you want about bossfight itself, but this music is pure masterpiece
This is facts
To the people saying this boss was easy...Eredin is not easy, you are too good playing! Let me explain: Out there there are people who can beat Dark Souls without dying. Is it because the game is too easy? No, it's because they are too good playing it. I had to fight this guy five times, because I committed some mistakes and he has some attacks that killed me with two hits, but then I focused, played better and kicked his ass...Caranthir, now that was an easy boss fight...
"As you expire"
MAN THAT LINE SOUNDS SO COOL
1:33 AS YOU EXPIAARRRR
I wish open world mmorpg would fight a little more like fighting game.
For Examples;
Real time individual move, jump, duck, left hand punch, right hand punch, left kick, and right kick.
“What now you piece of filth!” 😂
That wolf’s ROAR when Geralt fatally strikes him. 5:20

Yes the last boss fight was disappointing but they redeemed it with Blood and Wine. Also I noticed how when Eredin strikes down Crach, Geralt does so in a similar way with Eredin.
My hardest boss fight was the Wild Hunt guy you kill with Keira, christ that regen phase was annoying. (Note this was ng+ on death march)
he was a joke compared to ilmerith. i also played on death march.
Yessin A For me Imlerith was a joke. death march too
Imerith was a joke as well for me actually. And that one boss fight with Kiera wasn't hard it's just annoying when his health goes up. When I learned his strategy, it became easy.
