Thanks for keeping the 4 🌹 content coming ! it’s super informative and hope u continue w it . u also do an Incredible job of breaking everything down and describing everything. thanks
I’ve only had the 4 Roses small batch select, and liked it. I want try OESO, OESV recipes just from the description from 4 Roses website sound like my jam. Having you break down the flavors from different recipes makes me wanna try their other recipes. Keep 4 Roses content coming!! I don’t think 4 Roses gets the attention it should from other whiskey tubers.
dude, you're the freaking palate artist! You paint a picture on my palate, sorry if that sounds super weird. But seriously, love how you dive into the art of it all
Hey Brian, this is great analysis of the different types. I have had limited exposure to 4 Roses. You have peaked my curiosity and will be bottle popping the ones I have not gotten to yet. This one is a definite rewatch.
I am currently in the wormhole of watching your reviews and they are tremendous: the style, the content and the overall visual effect. I also am a hat fiend so am enjoying the variety there too!! As far as 4R SiB goes, I've only been able to try different "standard" 100 proof ones OBSVs all I believe (NN 30-4 J & HE 66-3 P).
You have the best Four Roses content on UA-cam. Can you describe your experience with the B & E mashbills and do you find the differences to be consistent amongst recipes?
That was definitely some inside baseball… great comparison though! One thing… your overlay text with details about the whiskey, particularly the 4R breakdown, was difficult to read. It needs to be larger with greater contrast.
The large chart or my info per barrel? If the info chart, it's just pulled from Four Roses' website, you can view it also here: fourrosesbourbon.com/our-recipes/
Can you further explain what a 4R's single barrel "RUN" is? is it specific to a recipe, warehouse, age or a combination of things? How many barrels are typically in a "RUN"?
Totally - When I mean a "run" I mean barrels from the same warehouse number, side of warehouse, rick, and in a lot of cases tier - basically the sister barrels of a given bottle. PS-58-6A, 6B, 6C etc. There are up to 22-23 barrels in a "run", if every rick position is filled. A bit more removed but similar is when from same warehouse, side, rick, but maybe jumping down a tier or two. So now we are seeing PS-58-5's and PS-58-4's release from stores. While all three of these barrels come from different "runs" with different characteristics, I do have multiple bottles/barrels within these runs, so even hyper-focused subsequent videos could be, say, five barrels all from the same run and how they still differ.
@@abandonbourbon Would love to hear you talk more about runs and and the subtleties and differences between them. For instance is there a rick position, warehouse side, tier, etc. that you enjoy more than others when you compare over the years? Do you seek out certain picks more by their recipe or the run?
@@abandonbourbon I guess just overall recent runs .. I am a fan of TS-85 oesq, which I haven’t really liked Q’s in the past. On a side note, pretty sure I saw you at cox creek Friday. I was there for the MM release
@@jeffberner6083 Yes I was there! Which did you grab? I think the RS-24 OBSQ run has changed folks minds about the recipe, but I have limited older run experience to know how it compares. The barrels have been pretty different from one another, but still have some similar flavor pockets. Compare what I mentioned in this one with the other OBSQ on the 7th Tier channel, but I also have a few others even more different. If anything - I've noticed the slight mint, slight herbal (usually licorice) slight baking spice and oak profile be similar in some of the new OESFs, OESOs, and OBSQs all, making it fun to try but more just hits home roses tastes like roses. I've got one of those TS-85 but haven't opened it yet, but I picked a OESQ a few years back so don't mind that recipe at all.
@@abandonbourbon nice man! I’ve got a rs-24 4 BevMo pick coming, so looking forward to trying it out. I went with the tier 5 oesk, which was my 1st choice .. I’ve had a couple small pours and really enjoying it so far .
@@jeffberner6083 My friend brought a 5 from the GS over and it was the most "oesk" of the run if that makes sense - balanced in the flavor pockets the run has had, really drinkable. I grabbed the K also but haven't opened it yet - I plan to soon though. I have high hopes for it, hopefully not too high.

Great video! I have a HW55 4L that I haven't cracked yet. Now I'm excited to try it!

Have an OESF, but only says barrell 15-21. What level (1-6) would that translate to?
What exactly does the front label say?
Any info on SS 50-1F.
I haven't seen any single barrels here in Austin. I wish our market had more.
How do you compare RS-24 obsq compared to other recent runs ? I keep hearing good things on it
with other OBSQ runs or just other runs in general?
