    Rich, what is your tip to avoid ripping the hands on the pullups even with the handgrip on? My technique is not the best, so i'm guessing that's the problem. Thanks! Greetings from Brazil!

    • @josealbarran5409
      @josealbarran5409 7 років тому +1

      Mikael D G K try practicing more maybe? I really wanted to know something like this when I started crossfit, but I just started practicing a lot more in my pull ups until my hands got used to it, now I do get them ripped from time to time but just a small portion and only in the places where my hand is already used to the bar.

    • @clap5
      @clap5 7 років тому +1

      My hands get ripped when doing high volume as do most. If your alittle heavier you might have that problem regardless. I use grips from Bear Komplex with the 3 finger holes. They work great! As you can see...Rich also uses them as well.

    • @mikaeldgk
      @mikaeldgk 7 років тому

      Jose Albarran
      Yeah, I think with more practice my grip will get stronger and my hands won't slip. But I already noticed that i'm evolving, now I only rip my hands after 50 reps or more...and always on the same spots.

      Wish we could have great brands like Bear Komplex with a fair price here in Brazil, everything here is so expensive, for example, the nano 6.0 here costs about 500 bucks, it's hard to get good equipment to train without going broke hahaha

    Rich, what happens when you get injured and you can't train for a week or 2, for example you twist your wrist, would yo still do squats and core workouts?

    • @jeremyvillegas5019
      @jeremyvillegas5019 7 років тому +1

      Juan Ignacio Salinas That shouldn't be a question dude, just get out there and do it 🤘

    • @alemagnum1
      @alemagnum1 7 років тому

      I have a pretty bad cut on my hand and I'm afraid that if I train it might bleed again T_T

    • @06livefast
      @06livefast 7 років тому +3

      Aches and pains are a part of training. If you tweaked your wrist, take a week off of any pressing and pulls that might affect it and work on squats, go for runs, do assistance work and mobility, but get the blood flowing because that will help with the natural recovery process. If it's broken, you'll know, if not, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Training with high volume and functional movements can take its toll on your body even if you have perfect form on the movements, rotator cuff pain from high volume high frequency pressing is normal, just lay off the pressing, tweaks in your wrist from heavy cleans where you couldn't get under the bar quick enough happens, just take it easy on the wrist for a few days and you'll be fine, pains are a part of training. Injuries are something you want to let heal because if you don't, they can become chronic and will flair up all the time. Constantly assess the damage and move forth.

    Not "pull-ups". Those are "kipping pull-ups".

    • @steveornelas2956
      @steveornelas2956 7 років тому

      William Bryan you're accomplishing the same task using a different method. Stop it already

      Steve Ornelas how when your using momentum

    • @williambryan5188
      @williambryan5188 7 років тому

      Steve Ornelas In a way you are but you can't honestly call a kipping pull-up, simply a pull-up. How else can you differentiate between the 2??? I've heard a real pull-up referred to as a strict pull-up and that's fine but you can't do that and call a kipping pull-up a pull-up.

    • @06livefast
      @06livefast 7 років тому

      It's the same task in terms of movement, but not the same task in terms of strength training and muscle activation/ time under tension. Kipping pullups emphasize the stretch portion of the pullups where you are using your lats, then use the momentum of the kip to move your body through space, where you complete the pullup using your arms and back. The kipping pullups makes pullups easier in terms of fatigue and the ability to do more in a given time frame, however, they are still a skill that is very effective. For example if you are doing hypertrophy training, and you just did a bunch of barbell rows and your back and biceps are completely exhausted, kipping pullups after wards may be beneficial using the extreme stretch at the bottom to stretch the fascia and muscle, then a very easy pullup focusing on contraction and form, as to pose to doing a few sets of low rep pullups when you're fatigued. Also a different stimulus than always doing strict or weighted pullups. Also you can do more reps than strict.. which is why if you see a workout programmed with 3 rounds of 30 pullups with 400m runs between rounds it wouldn't be wise to try that strict. If you're wanting to get stronger, stick with normal or weighted pullups, however, Crossfit isn't all about having big lats and 1 rep maxes, you actually have to be fit.

    • @williambryan5188
      @williambryan5188 7 років тому

      I agree with almost everything you said. All I am pointing out is you can't call what they are doing in the video "pull-ups" when they are "kipping pull-ups".

    • @nas5858
      @nas5858 7 років тому +1

      mateohouse123 The point of doing pull ups with very strict form(no bouncing) is to build muscle right? but these guys don't give a shit about building muscle they simply want to do the most repetitions in a certain limit of time
