I love that he gave actual numbers. I feel like so much content is put out on this subject and nobody ever actually tells you any numbers
Agreed.
Started my business in 2004. This is refreshing because it's exactly how I do my pricing. Net 6 figures all day long with this strategy. I'm charging $899 for my base SEO package. Run everything thru stripe, custom page for each service with super simple sign up process. Spot on dude.
Anyone can do it man. That's whT people dont realize
this channel is so helpful idk how i’ve never come across this before
i don't understand why you only get less views when you give so so much value in every video. Thanks mate!
I appreciate that!
This was super useful. Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video mate. Keep ranking.
Hiya Jordan! I have to say the amount of value you provide on your channel alone is crazy! I’ve checked out a few digital marketing coaches who are either too general or simply don’t explain things well. Keep it up! And I look forward to signing up for your course in the future!
Thanks so much! We look forward to having you
Wow! Super helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Jordan. Thanks for this video.
I am currently writing a proposal for a client who wants social media management services. I had to go back to the drawing board with my old pricing. I've never really done a full comprehensive pricing of my social media services. I've used the per hour model before and the per word model for writing content. I used to charge $50 per 500 words (Changing to $100 now since that seems more than reasonable from your video) for articles, etc. I've definitely learned quite a few things reading articles today and watching this video. When I first started my freelance business I was definitely in a place where I comprised in order to have clients to build my portfolio. Now that I am no longer in that place of desperation, and one of my biggest goals this year is to scale my business, I need to revamp my pricing to really make what I'm worth.
Thhhaaaankk you !!! Most formative straight to the point video on SMMA pricing 👐
Thanks Jordan. Working on building my SMMA now and this video answered a lot of simple questions I've had.
Happy it helped!
7-10 years ago Upwork's prices were 1/4 to 2/3 under market rate, but not anymore! The past 5 years they've gone up every year worldwide. You can no longer hire a decent contractor outside the US and get away with charging double. They've all raised their pricing. Both Upwork and Fiverr's rates have become increasingly unreasonable. And I charge double the rates you mentioned in your video. Sure, you can still find some (low cost) but it's a hell-of-a-lot more difficult. BTW, I agree with you on everything else. Nice work here, thanks! :)
Yes it has changed a lot. You can still find people but it is harder I do agree
This video was very useful! I was wondering, I work for a franchise and they want me to take over marketing. Will these prices be applied to that area as well?
20 to 30 % is so small specially with small business. I just recommend getting a set price like $500 for budgets from 1,000 to 2,000 and then go up from there and then start taking around 20% when budget is 10,000 and higher. It just makes more sense
Such great information!
Glad you think so!
I subscribed as soon as I read "Cereal Entrepreneur" 😩😆
Same! 😆😆
Super glad this popped up, I been waaayyyyyy selling myself short let's just say that lol
Same!
The info in your video and pricing guide is priceless. Thanks for the incredible value.
Very helpful, thanks a lot Jordan.
Thank you what did you like best?
Incredible value in this video, thank you very much sir!
I am so glad you enjoyed it. What was your takeaway?
@@CerealEntrepreneurJordanSteen I found it to be a great starting point to work from. Would it be possible for you to explain/create a video on pricing services based on a business's customer lifetime value? Or, what are your thoughts/experiences on this type of pricing structure?
You bring so much value Jordan! Thank you once again! I only just started my biz, and have a $2k client, and am currently pricing my second...this helped A LOT! As it can be very stressful! I happen to be a qualified film maker, and have always been good at social media and anything digital, so i have a lot to offer, yet I'm struggling to figure out what I should or shouldn't be doing/offering, and trying to be mindful of my time :) But once I have a steady income in this work, I have chosen YOUR course as the one to do! :D Thanks again, from Australia!
Sindy Wilson sure thing sindy ;)
are you still doing SMMA?

Really helpful stuff Jordan, thanks for sharing !
really good video I learn a lot I will be making video on working with my clients.
Thank you so much Jordan for all the value you provide!
Amazingly helpful video. But I have one question, how does your email marketing consulting look like?
What do you mean?
@@CerealEntrepreneurJordanSteen At 7:13 you say that you would do $250 - $300 a month for email marketing consulting but for managing it you would charge $500 a month. So my question is what exactly is email marketing consulting?
Your way of describing all in this video is in fact fastidious, each of us can be able to easily understand it! Good 😳😳
Thanks for all the free content.
Thank you for watching!
THANK YOU 🙌🏽✨ super helpful & to the point 😁
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! What is your niche?

this is exactly what i needed. thank you so much !!
Happy I could help :)
Highly useful info.
Thank you
I'd like to know if you update your plans according to the campaign? For example, maybe this month my client doesn't need a pro video and I can just shoot something simple but next month we plan a better video production which will cost me more. Would you charge differently on that specific month or is it better a flat rate?
I would definitely charge more.
Awsome content dude! Question - do you use customer debit/cc for billing ads spend or do you simply have your own debit card (on each client account in your mcc account)? You mentioned about making commission on the ad spend.... whats the best approach? Regards - Ray
They should always have their own account and use their card. Just get a credit card authorization form
This was so good I liked it on both of my UA-cam profiles :)
I had been trying to get a straight answer on how to charge for some of these mini-services like just posting content to pages or basic content creation and this is the best I've seen. Thanks much.
+Jay Shields haha I like to hear that
Jay Shields I agree
Nice Kitchen!
It's a good content 😉 got clarity ☺
Do you tell your client about the additional ad spend management fee? Shouldn't that be included in your original package?
This is the first time I’ve ever heard of taking a percentage of ad spend on top of the monthly service fee
Tedsting82 exactly it sounds good but the business owner is gonna wonder why pay a monthly fee AND a percent of the ad budget
Justin Peyton yeah i agree, the ad spend i feel should be completely separate from management fees
Hey man thanks for this video i really learned a lot from it cheers
Thank you for the information. I was precise and clear.
Simplified Info! Thanks Jordan
Lia Morrell happy to help
Hi Jordan,
Do you have a client portal? a dashboard for your client to keep track of their current activities and goals?
Cheers!
I was working on a Digital Marketing Agency, and the last thing that I was doing, was implementing Asana to manage clients and it's awesome.
You can see Trello too and decide which one fit better for you ;)
Cheers from Chile
So when your meeting a potential client, do you assess their needs and offer a specific package? Or do you give them the options of different tiers? Also, in another video you showed your different tiers with your first tier being $997. If somebody wanted ad spend on top of what a tier 1 package offers would you just add it on top of the price of tier 1 or would you require them to go with your tier 2 package that offers ad spend. Also in that video you showed your Tier 2 ad spend being between $10-$20 a day. Is that included in the tier 2 price or is that added on top of the tier 2 price?
What is the best package to start getting training from the channel? I am a beginner and want to learn from the bottom up.
I have videos starting with starting an agency. I would start there
If you are already charging them the $1000 why take another 20% from the ad spend? Shouldn't all of the money they allocated for ads go to the ads?
No, if you are putting in the work to put up the ads, then you need to get paid for it. The $1000 is for all the other work you are doing that month.
SteroidUnicorn what exactly are you charging the $1,000 in the first place for? Just reviewing negative keywords and generating reports?
If I'm understanding it right, the $1000 is for the base package to include whatever services they need (seo, email marketing, managing SM) and the %20 is for doing the add portion of the service. So If they want to spend money on PPC it costs %20 of their funds to manage the ppc. And if they want more they pay the $1000 for the other services. Am I right Jordon?
Placing ads in lets Facebook needs specific knowledge and research work that not much people know
So its a personal skill that has value
Also if placing $1000 ad credit without focusing on specific audiences (niche) the outcome or ROI is less effective
20% may also means your power to make this ad successful.
Amazing as always
+Daniel Muilenburg thank you!
Great work dude!
Your absolutely right
Hey Jordan, thanks for the info. In regard to managing Facebook, for example, what exactly do you include in this each month? One post/week? More than that? Social listening? Etc? Thanks!
Erica Tucker it's different for every customer
Thanks for this video! I think I have a much better idea of pricing services now... I've been asked to continue managing the social media and email marketing for a small organization (little nonprofit museum, non-govt affiliated) with whom I've previously worked in an administrative role (but am stepping down from that role, just doing remote digital marketing now). Thus, I'm trying to figure out what to charge them moving forward.
Was thinking $500 or so a month for email marketing (through Mailchimp) and all their social media (FB, Twitter, IG). Does this seem like a fair rate, guys?
It is hard to give a hard number on that. You need to look at your overhead to see what it will cost you and then charge for your time. Also! Keep a look out in my blogs and videos I will have some more pricing information coming out soon.
@@CerealEntrepreneurJordanSteen Thank you, I certainly will!
Great content.
Would love to know how do you manage and plan for multiple clients?
kekuleh1 basically focus on operational work flows for your business and make sure you only take on jobs you can handle. Don't promise something you can't deliver
Guys I still kinda need help with the pricing in email marketing
I want to start and agency but I want to know more about the applications used for email marketing... I will be paying for them or Will my client have to pay. And if my agency is going to pay do I have to get a SMTP an then get an app so things are easier or??
You would be paying for the software, but you would bake those costs into what you are charging your client.
Some of the software we using is
GoHighLevel : www.gohighlevel.com/main-page?fp_ref=cereal-entrepreneur
We use this tool as it is much more than just a CRM/Campaign tool, but you would have to get an SMTP with it. We recommend using Mailgun for this.
ActiveCampaign : www.activecampaign.com/?_r=B7R75W3F
If you are just focusing on emails for your client then this is a great tool for that.
You can get the pricing guide from this blog: cerealentrepreneur.academy/complete-guide-to-pricing-digital-marketing-services-for-your-agency/
Thank you sir
Now THIS video was fire and good shit on the new intro
+CEO Villarreal thanks bro
Question, when you charge people monthly, do you call every costumer at the end of the month? Or you have like an automated payment on your website?
Hi :) I just want to know why do you charge a % of the ad spend on top of the 1000$ management fees ? If it’s management fees for both ? :0
Simple! thanks.
Happy to help
Please, what do you have to say about pricing on the company website? Is it right to show or keep it secret till when asked?
I would recommend not putting it on the site because each package should be customized to each client
I have a question: should I run their ads in their social media platforms or should I create a special accounts for the purpose of sending their ads. For example if a client don’t have Snapchat account and they want to run ads on Snapchat what should I do?
Create an account for them
Hey Jordan, for the other expences like aweber monthly subscription etc, what do you do? Do you make the costumers pay them or are they included in the 500$ for the email marketing fee?
That needs to be included in the price you quote them so you should know ahead of time what services they're using. Try to ask these questions in the 1st meeting with them
Heres an idea for your next video. If you could share which social media platform works well with which niche
That's a great idea! Thanks!
@@CerealEntrepreneurJordanSteen My pleasure
good content, thx
You're welcome
So where can I find the project managers you were referring to any specific website?
freeeup.com/cerealentrepreneur
What exactly does management fee mean? You mentioned that ad spend % would also be added to the management fee. Wouldnt all the ad spend go to their ads 100%?? Great video! Thnx
You have to create and spend time on the flow of the ads that is the management fee
Aye bro, all I want is a business plan template.. Recently launched my Social Media Marketing Agency and having a few issues with certain areas of my plan.. do you have a template for social media marketing agencies that I can use or follow??
For a business plan or an audit?
Thanks for the reply.. yes a business plan template.. Example if you have a cake business.. ull have a business plan, with executive summary, company structure etc..
@@MrMko-tg8ks quoting from the video: "theres no template to it, everything u create should be completely customized to fit each business...."
if u have the balls to start an SMMA, u gotta have what it takes to execute it out as well.
Yo
Been watching your content for a month now. Great stuff. Got a question you may be able to shed some light on hopefully.
One of my products that I launched sold super well. I was raising the price every few days from $35 all the way to $55 and still was selling like crazy. I only had 3 other competitors. So here was and is the concern. The item was an electronic kids light and it came with a remote. I got to over 8% returns due to defects. Customers said the thing just wouldn't turn on. So Amazon took down my listing. Meanwhile I had another batch finished in China waiting for my final payment to be shipped. I haven't made the final payment and have just been stewing around trying to figure out if I should even go threw with this product again. Main reason I am nervous is that I have 25k in 2 new products invested being manufactured right now that I am confident will sell very well for quit sometime. I am scared that Amazon would possibly shut my account down if I go through with the lights again and get another over 8% returns due to defects. What is your take ? Is shutting down a sellers account something that Amazon could or should do due to a 2nd run of over 8% defective products ?
I want to still sell the lights but not if it will put my account and other product investments in danger.
Thanks for any insight
+WF my game isn't really the whole amazon business thing. Is say that if there was a defect that you shouldn't buy the product again, but that's just me. I do more with digital marketing in general than amazon
are you performing any of these services yourself or just finding people using Upwork?
This was good info but a few questions. I just started my social media marketing company and sourced a killer Outsourcers firm in the philippines.do I go to client first, show then the services I offer, benefits of those services and then let the Filipino firm tell me what they will charge me and then add to that my price and send the proposal?
Kristofer Milhauser in a general sense, yes
Kristofer Milhauser im from manila

Hey! I am new to this whole digital marketing service thing and am only 16, and I am looking into it. Mostly in Facebook ads for local businesses. If I email or get a local business to take up an offer for me to advertise for them, what do I really do at that point? How do I negotiate a deal?
ua-cam.com/video/JxecGb--Cuc/v-deo.html this here should help and the free audit video I have. This will help you get prepared
Hey Jordan, how did you know which ads were appropriate for the corresponding industry? Was it just through experience? Thanks!
Definitely experience
Thanks for this video!
+DJ SLANK〽an sure thing man
Where have you been!? thank you soooooo much!
Oh I've been here lol
I run a small web design business making around 1-2k a month and would love to expand however I have no knowledge on the other services such as ppc, social media marketing. I only have very limited seo knowledge which my clients are aware of before I build their sites. Would you recommend I learn all these other services or just stick to my speciality and outsource the other services? I'm finding it extremely difficult to know what do next to expand and how to even offer the other services. I watched your other video about why agencies fail and my main issue is the lack of industry experience unfortunately. Thanks!
yelshamusic I do recommend that you learn the other services and at least be able to manage two or three of them on your own. You should know how all of them work cohesively though so that you can build the campaign strategy and make sure it incorporates properly. If you ever want to expand to something more then you should definitely learn those services. Have you checked out my academy?
This is Awesome! We're a digital agency here in India and build apps and websites. If you want a mark up and work together as you mentioned in your video let me know!
Hey! Idk if you're still in the agency space building apps and websites, but I too have just recently went full on with my digital marketing agency. Hi! I am freelancing for a an agency and I am having a hard time determining my rates. I do digital strategy, ad implementation and management and creative strategy/devicing ad concepts. I priced out digital strategy, implementation and management based on the hours I predict it would take by size of the account (which is probably the wrong way) but when it comes to creative, developing the ads, the time varies and the amount of time that goes into developing creative as well as selecting the assets isnt contingent upon the size of the account so I'm not sure how to price that. Also to mention, the agency takes on small scale clients with ad budgets of $500 (start up companies) and agency takes their cut, so it's difficult to determine what is reasonable at the same time getting paid my value. Can you help?
Solid!
What platform do you use to manage all this? (social, email marketing, landing pages) Do you use Hubspot or something similar?
Like for planning the content?
Not for planning but just for managing it all. All the social advertising, I would imagine your driving that traffic to a landing page and then capturing and managing all those leads. Thats 3 steps which usually all have there own software or platform to run, manage, track and capture. Just wondering what you use or prefer?
can you update this video? thanks
it has been updated
After change management fee can still charge ads management fee?
Yes, absolutely.
Hi so a client once asked me what the probability of making a sale when they decide to do digital marketing with me and I wasn't really sure of what to answer. They also asked like what their ROI will be if they spend lets say XXX amount on digital marketing and ad spend. Can you advise on this?
Great content, keep up yo ! (y)
Great video
+dave lynch thanks dave
I've experienced challenges with service fees when it comes to having unpredicted promotions from clients. It's the time that is not so easy to calculate into monthly management fee. In this case, I'd say that the management fees are too low and that gives headaches.
What do you think about a deal such as: Minimums management fee + % of earned revenue? If I can scale the clients business (ecommerce), then I receive more money for that, which in my head makes it win win, as I make more money for them and they are willing to pay more.
If that works with your company and will cover your overhead it could be a win win for both you and your client.
Let's say a furniture store bought a $500 package from you. (facebook branding)
Do you include X amount or creative content work (graphics/gif) in the $500 package?
Or it is just basic management.
Sorry, but the question is a little confusing as it sounds like the $500 package you are selling is for branding?
If you are selling a $500 package for branding, then yes you should define what is included in that package.
ie. Logo creation, color scheme, font style, etc. (Essentially create a branding guide for them.
However, if you are asking if you charge the customer a $500 package for facebook ads, then that depends. If your client gives you a bunch of crap to work with then obviously the ads you setup might not perform well. If your ads don't perform then they aren't going to continue paying you right?
So you can do some creative work, but don't go overboard. We have put several ad campaigns together that we have made creative for just using image search and 1-2 hours of creative editing.
Hope this helps
I just have a question in 1000$ for management is graphic designing included?
thanks!
It really just depends. Again that is just a framework for choosing services. You should mold what services you provide to fit that budget.
Mars Maagad bro are you from philippines?
Jordan you say we need to know what package works best for their bisiness. Where do we get this data?
It comes down to understanding what their revenue is like, how many locations they have, whether their product is high dollar or not- basically, an analysis of how much money they make.
This is all information you should be collecting in the first meeting with them.
Ohhhh dope
I wonder if you are open to white-label your SEO? I run an SEO agency of 14 strong. Just curious.
