Wow. I'm only 1.5 minutes in and I have learned so much. I hadn't ever heard it put like this before. I have tried to learn about how to stop eating when I'm not hungry, but this is so simple and makes so much sense. Great content!! And time for another video with your mom too. 😊
I really love this video because it definitely addresses my personal problem with overeating and the reasons why I do. However I realized that one big factor among the ones mentioned in the video is being tired from not having enough sleep. The tiredness especially lets me lean toward high caloric food (my body signaling the need for energy) and also lets me be too tired to decide for any other rewarding activity. Could you maybe make another video addressing the relation between sleep and appetite? Another thing I realized is that some rewarding activities are always coupled with food. Like watching a movie at home with my partner always is combined with some kind of comfort food and snacking. And also meeting friends or going out is a lot of times accompanied with having food or a piece of cake or something and often times I’m actually not hungry but want to enjoy the social moment and not be a person who doesn’t order food. I don’t know how to deal with that well. 🤔
I see what you mean! Maybe you can reduce the amount of food little by little while you enjoy the other activities. As for sleep, I've added your idea to the list, but in the meantime this video might help! ua-cam.com/video/Nojx3Bl8SdA/v-deo.htmlsi=yjQ9jogGmDVvD6R9
It's just so easy to do so, if we are being honest... But I have started recognizing this behavior in my older years, As I have just turned 60. So thank you for this knowledge and ways of dealing with in my own life...
As always, great thoughts and advice. From time to time, whenever I feel down on myself, I make a long list of all of my good points. I make sure that these out number my bad points.
I have found with me that the moment I apply any food rules however small, food all of a sudden turns into an emotional tool with me. Without any food rules, food looses its value as an emotional tool, and I am much better able to just eat when hungry; but I don’t think about food or obsess over it or anything else.
Yup. My brother killed himself and it’s still hard to deal with. I ate and gained almost 70 lbs. I also have PCOS so the weight gain was QUICK. Now I can’t lose it.

When I’m stressed my appetite is zero (I found your video on what to eat when nothing sounds good sooo helpful for this). I see this topic in the broader context of needing multiple support systems I.e. having friends, family, hobbies that are based on self care and building up your own self esteem and the power of your own inner voice that you can lean on in times of need. Food can stand alongside these other supports as a source of emotional comfort but it does not need to dominate (nor should it).

I totally agree!
I eat when someone I love die and it’s really hard not to… But I will work on it…

@@PearlM38 I totally understand and I’m sorry for your loss..
I'm so sorry. It's ok to cope in the ways that feel best/easiest. One thing at a time.

Ask yourself; am I really hungry right now?😊
Yes! But that can be hard at times

Same with me. When really stressed or upset, my appetite for food totally vanishes
I absolutely agree with you!
