[LYRICS]
[Intro]
Go, Krist
[Verse 1]
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
And all the flowers are everywhere
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be there
[Verse 2]
Goodbye Papa, please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
And I don't know all these words
I had boggy turds
With my BB gun I would kill birds
[Chorus]
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time
All our lives, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the world that we reached
Were just starfish on the beach
[Verse 3]
Goodbye Michelle, my little one
I was the apple of the shining sun
Another apple out of reach
All my tears are salty
I think now I was taught to weep
[Chorus]
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
All the hills that we climb
Were the seasons out of time
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hill on the beach
Were just starfish on the beach
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climb
Were just seasons out of time
Oh the joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars that we reached
Were just starfish on the beach
This feels like as if this video was taken in an alternate universe where Kurt continued living and Nirvana was still around. Calming and depressing all at once.

Lol welcome nirvana fan 😘
I cant believe i've been listening to this version all my adolescence and I just realized ten years later that it was a song by french singer Jacques Brel all along. And I'm a god damned french myself.
@@sofaking1472 The great Jacques Brel was belgian in fact...cocorico from Bruxelles 🙂

They did it a lot and Kurt loves it
1:58 It’s so cute to hear Kurt laughing.
2:00 and Dave calling Kurt on stage so hilariously. 😂
I loved that at the 2:00 mark. Was wondering when that was recorded
i cried watching this, seeing kurt and dave smiling together and them all having a good time in the video, god bless Kurt’s soul.
Kurt said this was his favorite song
Oh yeah? Maybe I didn’t phrase it well. I saw a video that said it was his favorite song, but instead, he’s actually saying it’s one of the songs that makes him cry. My mistake!
@@TM97427 Nah, Metallica's guitarist said that himself but I think he's lying cause that's not the kind of music Kurt liked lol

Yess
The melody is so simple yet so catchy at the same time
honestly i feel like it’s cause it’s one of kurts favorite songs.
Yet sad and depressing
Agree.
It surprises me intensely to know that this song is a cover! It has a dramatic charge that feels very personal. It looks like a farewell message Kurt left for us. Someone who left, but claims to have enjoyed good times from him. Even with life's ups and downs, he seems to say he was happy - seems to say he's grateful for everything.
"Goodbye, Michelle, my little one" I like to think of this sentence as Kurt's goodbye to his daughter.
Even though he didn't write it, it all fits perfectly into his legacy. It's a very emotional song... Goodbye Kurt. You will always be remembered.
Do you like The Doublejumps? They remind me of a more chill version of Nirvana
@@MassiveFish-hp4pm Personally, I didn't notice many similarities. "Lazy" was the only one that reminded me a little bit of Nirvana, I believe because of the vocal tone - I thought the song was really good, by the way. "Peaceful Grin" has such a relaxing vibe...

honestly this is a song that describe kurt really well as a person, he wasn't just this guy that's always angry and yelling bc of his stomach pain.
I can only imagine their fourth album sounding like a mix of Leadbelly, Daniel Johnston, Filter, creating a hybrid of Rock, blues, and outsider music. It’s amazing how this song sounds like an epilogue to their catalog.
"Think of me and i'll be there"
Yes Kurt, we all do

Yea bro, I’ve been watching a lot nirvana videos, it feels nostalgic. Kris seems to have never gotten over Kurt. Everybody wears nirvana shirts but don’t even know the gems they don’t play on the radio. So much good songs. Kurt cobain was murdered, RIP Kurt. We miss you.
yes indeed good way to put it. Man I always heard that Kurt was pretty acustomed to playing the drums and that he would have become a drummer instead, and I nevercouldfind footage of him playing, but it looks so weird...which is sad. its sad that we only know Kurt the way we see him in recordings. We barely ever see Kurt.. only Kurdt (if you know what I mean). So, its sad. But its also so weird to see the grohl playing bass and krist playing guitar. Man, RIP Kurt. And best wishes to Grohl and the foo fighters on their 10th album! Cant Wait! And I hope Krist is doing well and finding happiness in his life.

Kurt was actually a surprisingly good drummer
Drums were his first instrument, but his timing was not good so he switched to guitar. Maybе he just liked the guitar better. Drums are way more physical.
Was his first instrument in nirvana actually. Nirvana started as a CCR cover band. They found some work in bars doing it but they adjusted the lineup and moved onto the Nirvana we know
Kurt's drum is so warm. I feel beatles from it.

These guys are ultra talented. They can turn a positive song to an ultra depressive one.
this is how the song is supposed to be. Eerie and yet contented.
Honestly dont find it that depressing, with the random videos of them seemingly having fun and such. there's something soothing about seeing and hearing this.
Listen to kurt Cobain's cover of 'and I love her' by the beatles, makes it really creepy
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes tried to make it slightly less depressing, and musically they achieved that, but the lyrics themselves are out of the gate super depressing.

O: I was five when he died
Like a dark and eerie Beatles song
I love it
This takes me back to my early twenties, i was painting while listening to this on repeat all day long and my grandmother was laughing at me "we're going to fall asleep with this lullaby!".
She's gone many years ago now but it always makes me smile to think my dear old grandma called a nirvana song a lullaby
It is weird seeing Kurt on drums, Dave on bass, and Krist on guitar but remember they were also Beatles fans and they had to know that it wasn't always Paul on bass, John on rhythm guitar, and George on lead guitar. And Dave has shown that he can play guitar.
krist also played guitar on unplugged when they were doing the meat puppets songs
I get simultaneously uplifted and bummed out whenever I watch this. When he says “goodbye my little one.” Makes me sad considering his death and not being able to see Frances grow.
It is very sad! It makes me cry thinking of it.
Yeah it’s really sad 😕
You could see it here, Kurt with a clear head, loved playing with Dave and Krist. I wish he would have leaned on them more.
The interesting thing about this cover is that a lot of people like to think NIrvana was covering this song ironically or something... but apparently Kurt loves this song when he was growing up... for him, he was performing it straight and sincerely.
Here on Kurt’s 54th birthday. R.I.P my friend :(

“Goodbye papa please play for me

this is such a comforting, wholesome video. It kinda makes you look at it as if they never became the gigantic, enormous and financially sucessful band they did.
