Hearing this song makes me cry. Just knowing that it was the last one he wrote too 😢. This man was no doubt a legend. Standing up for human rights was one of his best qualities, as well as being a phenomenal musician. RIP Kurt. You are still so loved.

Yes it was absolutely the highlight of that year 4me and any of friends that were true fans. I wish they would play this on our rock station in Knoxville.
I got goosebumps on top of goosebumps. not to mention this song kicked the shit out of anything being released at the time. when this hit, it was so intense seeing this video words cant describe.
it wasnt out of nowhere. it was rumored to exist for years. a version they played live leaked to the internet years before it was released and then the official song leaked months before the actual release ..they even played it on the radio. courtney and nrivana sent letters to radio stations threatening legal action so they stopped. i avoided hearing it tho till the cd dropped in late 2002 and still waited till someone gave me the cd at xmas ...and it was amazing.

I knew about the radio play leading up to it (never heard it, like yoruself) and I heard it on bootlegs many years before they released the studio version.... i just had no idea the quality it was recorded in. That video was taken during the concert where he played Love Buzz, jumped into the crowd and crowd surfed, and ended up slamming his guitar into the face of a bouncer who tried to help him back onstage as he thought he was being aggressive. 3:10 the end of the song almost mirrors what happened after Kurt's death, Dave still plays confidently providing the backbone for the song, reminiscent of the way he stuck around after Kurt's death. Kurt's vocals stay around for a little bit only to completely cut out at 3:18 and while all of this is going on Krist's bassline can be heard very quietly almost mirroring his sorrow after the death of his friend.

I don't care what anyone says this is the saddest Nirvana song ever in my opinion.
Years after Kurt died and this song came out on radios people burst into tears and vibed while doing so. It felt like the band was back after his death, it felt like Kurts soul came back to make one last song. all the memories fans had with him just sinked into them just like what's happening in this video, all the clips forming together of past memories. It felt like closure of his death. For me the song is basically his legacy song his ending of a chapter/ book.

Kurt was planning on divorcing Courtney Love. This song is about her and their toxic relationship he wanted out of. .... pretty much most women make their men feel this way. Many people believe Courtney was the one who ended his life. I don't agree with that. I believe someone more powerful wanted him gone, and Courtney knows who and why, and won't say. The same with Dave and Chris.
To this day Chris is a destroyed man, No more jokes, never smiles, unengaged, and looks very guarded, like if he says the wrong thing, he'll be next.

I cry every time I hear this song. Knowing this was his last song before we lost him. He was one of a kind and put a smile on a lot of people’s faces. When the vocals become stronger it reminds me or others of the pain he suffered. I’ll always have the time to listen to nirvana even if it’s almost 40 years old.

I hear ya, he wasn't built to be in the spotlight and have so much fame with his mental state.. it must have been so hard for him, fame and money doesn't care depression, the last month of his life were horrible on him, having Courtney come to rehab to tell him he's a horrible father and dropped Francis on her head while he was high was a horrible horrible thing to do.. personally I believe that visit and statement was the straw that broke the camels back for him.. I wish he never got involved with Courtney. I believe had they not dated he would be alive today.. he never realized his worth as a person, I think he thought he was lucky to find courtney but never realized her manipulation and how she didn't deserve someone like Kurt. He thought he was ugly and didn't deserve anything.. I always wonder what kind of music Kurt woulda made.. he said he wanted to do a solo acoustic album going in a different direction than nirvana.. judging by unplugged I can only imagine how absolutely amazing that album would have been ... This is one of my favorite(& arguably one of the best) Nirvana songs ever. Not only did it help me through some rough times, but the sheer amount of meaning it holds for the band and their fans is incredible. It's one of those songs that feels like every line was written for me--yet it's fascinating how people interpret it and how the song's significance differs to them. What a heart-wrenching, powerful, capturing send-off for such a fantastic band. Thank you, Nirvana. Sending so much love and support to fellow inspired fans, the Nirvana crew and families, Dave and Krist, and Kurt--wherever you are, I hope you're doing well.

I grew up in the Seattle area. I was 17 when Kurt died in 1994. I went to one of his last concerts in Seattle in Jan 1994 and was at his memorial service at Seattle Center in April 1994. He was very influential on me as a teenager and I was devastated when he passed. What an amazing legacy he has left. Rest in peace Kurt.

I was born and raised in Grays Harbor, Washington. Aberdeen is where Kurt and Krist are from. Krist was from Aberdeen as well as Kurt but Kurt bounced around in his school years. He attended Montesano High 10 miles east of Aberdeen where he met Buzz Osborne from the Melvins. Buzz set up Kurt and Krist with Dave years later. The rest is history. I was lucky to see how his hometown reacted to his success.
I wish he made a few more albums. He was a great songwriter, everything he wrote was good

Nikola Maticki Yes, it is actually the very last song recorded by Nirvana in the studio, and was taped a few months before Kurt died. It's always been my favourite Nirvana song, and to me it shows what might have been had he lived.

i remember almost hanged myself when my girlfriend & baby left me. I drove to walmart to buy rope and this came on 104.7 THE EDGE as i sat in parking lot. I never went in, I went straight to the library to DOWNLOAD this song. I had on repeat all night and I'm alive and well today. THANK YOU NIRVANA FOR SAVING MY LIFE!

I got to see the Nirvana exhibit at the MoPop in Seattle. Something about seeing his sweater in a case, the pictures, his hand written notes. Seeing all of them as individual people and not just some famous band. Having grown up in the 90s and Nirvana being such a huge, everyday part of my teens, it was a very unexpected emotional experience. I spent an hour in that room with a lump in my throat, fighting back tears. If you.ever have the opportunity to visit it, I highly recommend it.
when you listen to this song with no bias, the lyrics become very harrowing and paints a very vivid image about where kurt was mentally in 1994

Kurt at one point said that he admired R.E.M and said at least one future album would be inspired by them. Check out Do Re Mi for what that could have looked like.

The Velvet Underground struggled to sell any of their albums, yet they were one of the best bands of their era. In utero sold less copies than Nevermind, but in my opinion, it was much better, though that is subjective.

The song is legendary and heartbreaking at the same time, in the lyrics we feel the tortured soul of Kurt and in the instrumental we feel the pain of his death and the end of the group, so many memories evoke this song for me it is one of my favorites from Nirvana
