Love your videos Andrew! You have introduced me to some really wonderful painters here. 😊 Thank you so much. Unfortunately some of these are out of print but I’ll keep an eye out.
Some great books there. Heres my top 5 - 5 - Degas: The Complete Etchings, Lithographd and Monotypes 4 - Tarkovsky - Film Stills, Polaroids and Writings 3 - Robert Longo - Lumunious Discontent 2. Robert Kipniss - Intaglios 1982-2004 1. Federica Galli - Green Grand Tour
Great selection Andrew I have a few John Blockley books and a couple of Joan Eardley but didn't manage to get a book by Fred Cuming but I do have two Dvd's by him that I play over and over what a great man and artist Fred was.
Really enjoyed this video thanks for sharing Andrew! Also a big fan of Diebenkorn so I was happy to see that in your top 5. The big scoop for me is John Brockley, I did not know of him before and looked up his books and his work - amazing, I am going to enjoy that for some time. And also a huge fan of LAOTY so am excited to see you in this year's competition when it finally airs!!
Thank you very much James. If you like watercolours John Blockley is a good artist to learn from. Diebenkorn is something different and I love his style. Hopper is another who I really like
Hi Andrew ... nice to see what art books inspire your creativity ... I particularly like Joan eardley and Cummings I can see alot of their influence in your paintings ... Also i think Turner was a great artist that you have a similar style to and there are some good books on him ...thank you for sharing your books!
Un très grand merci pour le contenu super de cette vidéo. Je viens de découvrir votre chaîne et à commencer à regarder vos vidéos. Bonne continuation. Je pense que ça va m'aider énormément à démarrer le paysage.
I can't say I have a 'Top 5' favourite art books, but I would thoroughly recommend: Andrew Wyeth Autobiograpy (introduction by Thomas Hoving) and the two Edward Seago books, by Ron Ranson (both are quite expensive now). They have to be my three most worn out art books.
Every landscape artist should have Carlson's guide to landscape painting. Paint The Sea In Oils Using Special Effects by E John Robinson is also an excellent go to book
Hi Andrew ! I don't know why my comment was not sent. I repeat thank you for this useful and pleasant video. I love Fred Cuming paintings, he is very inspiring. And now because of your video I am very attracted by Joan Earley. I appreciate also to discover the book alla prima. Now I want your book maybe coming soon to the market. Is the portrait photography by Madeleine? It's a beautiful portrait. I know that she is skillfull at photography. My best wishes to you 🙏✨
Hi Jasmine Thank you so much 😊 I hope you can find some books by these amazing artists. Lots of inspiration here Madeleine didn’t do the photography in my book but she is very capable 😃
It was also interesting that you mentioned Jon Redmond. I was in a workshop he taught a few years ago. I believe Al Gury was his teacher at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
John Blockley's books are what brought me back to art!!
Very good books by a master watercraft artist

I really like Turner. I will do a similar video in a year’s time and we’ll see if my top 5 is different as I add more to my collection 😃
Thank you very much for this video- it’s always fascinating to see what inspires an artist to paint in their style!
My pleasure - glad you enjoyed it 😊

Thank you for the recommendations. It’s really difficult to choose 5 out of so many great books
This was so great I snapped up Poskas book on ebay for 5 bucks. Looks awesome
That is awesome - really great book
Thanks for the the note that this book is on eBay! I just ordered my copy!

There is a UA-cam channel called LearnFromMasters where is a great collection of Fred Cuming paintings showing.
@@Jasmine_Shelby_art thank you for this link Jasmine - I will take a look
I very much liked Al Gury's other book "Color for Painters: A Guide to Traditions and Practice"
Thank you, I’ll look into that one

@@jwfleck64 I love Jon Redmond's work. He goes under the name Downtubeshifter on Instagram
Nice top 5. But I think Rowland Hilder must at least be on nr.6.
Yes Roland could easily have made it to number 6. Maybe even into the top 5 if I was doing more watercolour
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
