I'm an apartment maintenance man, this video was incredibly useful. Thank you!
An apartment robber? Ok
Yea... A maintenance man... Same...
I actually just searched for this video to send to my new technician that’s on call so it does help
me too old tenants vacated the unit with and left the keys inside and the actual lock is not on our naster keys 🤣
Me too haha !
Just got back in to being a maintenance tech for an apartment complex and had never had to change out the deadbolt without keys. This video was incredibly useful and thank you for showing us how!
Pretty crazy this is the only video, website, article what ever, using this method. SO FREAKING SMART, good job.
Thanks so much for this video. Had a deadbolt on a playhouse for my children which we haven’t been able to get into for close to 4yrs because we never had a key. After hours of trying other UA-cam methods of picking the lock I finally looked for a drill method. I’m glad to report that the playhouse is finally open after following your instructions!!!!!! Thanks so much 💪🏾💯‼️‼️‼️
Glad to hear this video helped! 🙂
Dont lie Shanon.
Kids are all too old for the playhouse now lol
uh did your kids out grow them by then?
So simple yet so effective. I just bought a property with a locked garage and instead of calling a locksmith I went to my toolbag. Thank you for saving me money!!
I do cabin maintenance and this info will save me from damaging my way into a locked out cabin. Appreciated sir.
Use a 1/4’’ drill bit. It fits perfect into those screw mounts. And on some of the deadbolts there is a plate that covers the bolt holes. When you start drilling the first hole that plate will pop off revealing both bolt holes. Pretty easy after that.
should the drill be spinning clock wise or counter clock wise into the screws?
@@boysshootingclubpodcast6457 probably back ward since you're trying to get it to spin out...on some deadbolts on the inside the thumb turn sits over the screws...but if you put enough force into you can push them out....
@@boysshootingclubpodcast6457
Right righty, lefty loosely. Right is drill forward, left is drill backwards.
@@jonnybeanbag damn it’s already been a year since i busted that lock
@@boysshootingclubpodcast6457 clockwise. The drip will cut the tip of the screw and then unscrew it.
You da man! THANK YOU! My deadbolt took a crap on my shop door at my house today and I couldn’t get in. Did this and was in almost instantly. HUGE thank you! 👊🏻🍻
Great "how to" video ! Simple right to the point . Loved it.
Thanks. I needed this today and had no idea how I could get into my locked room short of demo-ing the whole door. You saved me beaucoup bucks and time.
I do property maintenance and one of the things I have not done yet is drill out a deadbolt. But this is useful to know in the event that I will have to. I'll definitely be keeping some of the old deadbolts that I replace to practice on.
Sam, great instructions. I must have had a cheap deadbolt as it took 30 seconds with a cordless drill. Concerned me how quick and easy it was so i bought Medeco Maxum 11TR503-19 for all doors. Great instruction video.
Sam, your awesome man. Thanks for the info and sharing your knowledge.
Thank-you thank-you. I lost the key. This saved me from spending money at a hotel or waiting for someone else to help at midnight and when it was cold outside. Definitely this route worked for me and long term easier to fix. Lesson learned. Be responsible with keys
Just used this method today. 30 seconds and I was in! Thanks for posting.
I was just locked out for 2 hours and this video nails it. I hit those two screws and pop it went off. It was freezing out. Thank you for the help in the middle of the night!!!!!
Awesome man, I used this after I had given up and it worked, literally in less than 2 minutes.
Thank-you!!!! I don’t know why I didn’t think of this. Thank-you for sharing! I was trying to come in on an angle, use a jig, none of it worked. I screwed a piece of 1 x 4 - making sure the holes from the 1 x 4 were covered by the new deadbolt. Perfect 👍
This may be my first ever comment on UA-cam but I had to tell you that this method worked amazingly for me. Took me about 2 minutes to drill both sides and the lock popped right off! Thank You!
My man. My name is Sam too! Tenant changed the locks on me. Your video is my preparation while waiting for the Sheriff to come. Hope it works as smooth for me as it did you! Thanks!
Very helpful! It took about 20 min. for me, but it works PERFECTLY as shown.
1) it worked! thank you 2) it worked! i have zero confidence in the security of my home and property!
Super useful! Thank you
Good info after watching your video I did it myself in less than 2 minutes , thanks
Thanks bro. Worked perfect.
I have a few deadbolts to drill out this weekend. I watched other videos of this and this looks most effective.
Thanks for this video, saved my job...lol
Thank you for that great tip about drilling the screws out I will subscribe 👍
thanks sam this worked perfect my man good tips and tricks brother
worked like a charm, thanks for sharing
Thanks man since last night my daughter locked her room with the lights on, she's 4 she didn't know, it was my fault because I bought the home but no keys for the locks were provided for any of the rooms so lesson learned I'm thankful for this video nothing else would work since they damaged the lock before no card would open the door. Buying new door handles.
Nicely done! 👍
Great video! My deadbolt cylinder came out and drill is locked inside garage but will get a new one and new deadbolt save trip from locksmith
I've been locked out of my apartment for almost a week now...thank you for this video!! 🙏🙏🙏
I also am an apt. Maintenance man and I've had to do this 3 times but the drill buts are never hard enough to drill out the ends of the screws so I have to beat them loose with a punch h and a hammer. Even then they don't let go so I have to reach in with needle nose pliers to break out the slide and move it out the way to pull the bolt back. The only slack I get is when the bezel comes loose.
Thanks for the great video.
great tip!
Thanks! Excellent!
Just did this ourselves. Thanks
It was very helpful thanks
Awesome!! Thanks Sam.
What size drill bits do we use???
Bought a house and they never gave keys to a storage area... super annoying but I am hoping this will work!
I sure hope this works. Garage door breaker is in the garage, it popped. Haven't had the key to the deadbolt in 15 years, and the normal knob broke about a month ago.
Cobalt drill bits cut like butter when they are new but they do go dull pretty quickly
Use a small flat head and pop the front cover off, then you can see the screw holes, use a smaller size drill bit and it’ll catch on the screws and basically unscrew them. I’ve done it many times, I can open a deadbolt in 10 seconds.
Make a UA-cam video about it :)
Thank you so much
Fast Easy. I have lock picks but this is so easy to drill out those bolts it is not worth the effort to Pick and Re key. Drilling thru those bolt was like drilling thru butter it when that quick I just perched a home with no keys Now I do pick the knob but dead bolts drill and R&R Thx
That was amazing 🎉
Thank you Sam
What about the bottom lock?
Does this work for any deadbolt?
Thanks, my freinds lost her key and I use your methode and change the Weiser deadbold in 2 minutes.
Great aiming
Thanks!
That was smart!
Genius!
I like it thanks
Just broke in to my bosses office in less than a minute using this video. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to remove a deadbolt. 👍🏽
Thank you
Put some small hardened ball bearing down the screw holes when they hit the ball bearing it will spin and deflect the bit. High security dead bolts have anti drill plates. Mul t lock, medeco and assa to name a few.
what size bit
WTH! Man just guessed where the screws were! bang on target too.
what kind of drill do you use
Superb...better than calling a lock smith and think they are god! Thank you!
What drill bit do you use?
Thanks bud, very helpful
i have a kwikset auro smart lock deadbolt. this did not work for me. what worked is drilling straight into the keyhole (which gets to the deadbolt itself) and then turn counter clockwise as if unlocking the door manually.
hopefully this saves someone from having to call a locksmith like i did!!
Hey do you mind if I share this with my Maintenance Team?
I just drilled out 2 deadbolts in less than 3 minutes. My holes were dead nuts on, drilled out the screws and the dead bolt just fell to the floor.
I do property maintenance, I'm not a burglar.
THANKS'
Try a Defiant next time. I always have a problem with those. Kwiksets are easy.
So says the drill is locked up inside the house you have to go to Lowe's or home Depot to buy a drill?
If you can't borrow one...........yeah.
no, click your heels 3 times....seriously.
Las Vegas!!
My deadbolt lock doesn't work. While twisting the key, the tumbler just got pulled out.
I used a flat tip screwdriver (as an improvised key) and twisted the mechanism inside and opened the door.
😅 That's pretty scary! So much for security!
@@MoreThanMaintenance well... it was... old.
twisting the cylinder breaks the bottom pins...those things are made of brass and typically don't just break off...
Just a bundle of personality
Like they say, locks only keep honest people out!!!
What size bits? This is important!!
1/4
Dang, my key doesn't work! Where's my drill? Oh. It's inside.
And if you run across some I installed, your drill will speed up and the bit will stop cutting. Ball bearings tend to make those things happen.
I have to drill out a deadbolt today for a client who doesn’t want to pay for a locksmith.
Is there any company that is hiring locksmith Expert, if yes please connect me.
How to Break in to Somebody's House in Less than 2 mins, lol
This is a US-only type of bolt
My attempted ended with 86 swings of framing hammer 😂
"the pin will drop..."
You know how the fasteners work but have no idea how the lock operates.
Still, good video.
Need this video to go to my ex apartment, get my stuff out from from that shitty place🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've been drilling for two days. Please help
Use the right drill bit. Carbide.
@@BD90.. cobolt ?
That looks smaller than a 1/4 " drill bit?
I tried picking the lock it did not work I need more practice it was my 1st time 😭😭🤣😂😂😂🤷 Soo this is my next step..
Ive been locked out for a week
Doesn't work in 2 mins I been at it for a half hour drill battery went dead😡
Sounds like you need new drill bits.
@@MixedMedia33 lol idk maybe they just cheaply made🤷🏾♂️
I can open the door wit a crowbar in 20 seconds
it's less destructive to destroy the lock than the door and frame
this is another way to open it without drill, use a hook
This is why you don't buy Kwikset.
No one is safe
I get into deadbolts in less than 30 seconds bro
;
What a cheap level 2 deadbolt. Its a bit harder with a commercial lock.
Take off that cover plate that says kwikset on it!!! You can pry it off with a tiny screw driver or a knife blade! It will expose the screws!! You messed up man.
Lol I was gonna post the same comment. I was trying to show a new hire some videos on how we drill out locks and I was amazed that almost no one knew to pop the faceplate off and expose the open back end of the threaded mounting screws. Then simply use a bit thats slightly smaller than the hole so you don't strip the threads. Drilling in on the keyhole side means that you are drilling out the screws on the knob side. Apply forward pressure going at the screw slowly until you feel it moving. if there's a wood floor on the other side you can hear the screws drop. This method if by far the easiest and allows you to rekey and reuse the lock if you have the cylinder cradle.
this is gonna sound stupid but does the drill have to be set spinning right or left???
So I had a kwikset plate pop off and didnt expose any screws tonight. And trying this method took forever. I must have been using the wrong drill bit sizes
