  • Can you believe that a black man talked 200 KKK members out of the klan? Hear how Daryl Davis managed to do it in this Incredible Critical Thinking Stories episode.
For years I used to have a lack of critical thinking myself. I used to believe many things which had little evidence or truth behind them. These beliefs led me to decisions which did not turn out to my favor. Eventually I discovered critical thinking and changed my life for the better. Now I choose what I believe in with much more care. Make better, more informed decisions and enjoy the results. Yet it doesn’t take much time to see that many people still fail to separate true information from false. That’s why I created the Practical Critical Thinkers channel.
If you are looking for a critical thinking channel - look no more and let's create a culture of practical thinking together!
In this channel you will learn what is critical thinking, various critical thinking skills, find critical thinking exercises, learn how to use critical thinking in a debate, learn about the best critical thinking books out there, find critical thinking tutorials what results a lack of critical thinking has and much more.

Know of this guy from his Rogan appearance. Great, mindblowing story, that gives insight of the psyche of bigots and even somehow humanizes KKK members. Also amazing how much difference one man can make. A subject that defenitely deserves attention like this. Great stuff!

Earlier in 2020 Daryl was supposed to participate in an event in Pennsylvania that hosted a number of people that were speaking on political issues. Antifa threatened to burn down the theater that was hosting the event. The event still happened at another location but it was not as big or successful.

@@Rokasleo Antifa members believe society are divided in groups and that all people (except for Antifa's own members) are fully and completely defined and determined by the group they're a member of, so that there are no individuals proper, only the groups themselves. Hence, that breaking the groups who do wrong things, so that their (former-)members are forced to move into better-thinking groups, which will in turn fully determine them, is the only proper way to stop those wrong things from reoccurring.
Evidently that's not how Antifa themselves describe their own thinking and motivations, but it's close to what happens in practice if you look at the movement from a bird's eye perspective.

Most ppl, and especially militants, are not doing it for rational reasons, but rather emotional motives, so they will never stop and think and respect a person even tho this person thoughts you cannot respect.

I love this video. I find myself doing the same with radical left people -- you engage with them, you get your point across, but in such a way so that they are actually heard and considered. Like Jesse said once in that interview video sometimes it's "better to be kind than to be right". You share your thoughts. You let them have time to let it seep in. If it is something self-revealing, they will come around to their senses. No fighting required.
Oftentimes, though, they open their eyes, but because their habits and cult-like social circles and influences around them do not change afterwards, _they_ close their eyes again and change back to what they were. I haven't been able to find a way to constructively deal with that regression problem.
I said I do this with radical left people, but I have also done the same with radical right people, as well as other radicalized individuals (not everything is "left" and "right" -- those are overarching and oversimplified terms for the sake of quicker communication at the expense of accuracy). It's just that radical leftists are _extremely_ common nowadays, and became normalized.
