It’s about time. Black American to make a distinction between the various American ethnic groups. I agree with black American because of that but I most definitely do not agree with being considered a hyphenated American being something in between a full American and something else. We are one of the three foundational populations of this country and have been here before it was even a country.
@Trenton Veselka Well, black American fits our ethnic group better than African-American. Because we're not citizens of the African continent. There's other people in the world whose names start with a color. Black American describes us as the black ethnic group of the United States. It's much better fitting for a foundational group of a country than it is by putting an entirely different continent on the name of that foundational group.
Im Black American and im not going to deny my bloodline. Im from SC. Gullah /Jew/ Americo Liberians are my ancestors. When has America ever accepted us? I agree that we are all Americans, but we are also people of color from the darkest hue to the lightest hue and even in between. We are people of color. We are not all black. Some people of color have passed for white. We are accepting of the term black because of the "one drop rule " meaning if you got one drop of black blood then you are black.

I agree that we are all Americans, but we are also people of color from the darkest hue to the lightest hue and even in between. We are people of color. We are not all black.
