My understanding was that Mengele preferred to experiment on twins, especially identical twins, because their genes were similar enough that he could experiment on one twin and use the other as a control subject to better compare the results. It seems even that was granting this monster more logic than he deserved.
It was said he treated one of the two twins very well and the other was tortured in his experiments. In the end, both were killed so the bodies could be examined to see what effect, if any, the experiments produced.
The pain that the parents of these poor children had to endure, knowing their children weren’t with them, scared and going through pain at the hands of these pure monsters. Appalling.
there is no inherent justice in his world if this man spent his last days living in south america chilling in his pool, not feeling guilty, and didn't die a horrible agonizing death.
As a twin myself I find this truly disturbing and disgusting. Imagine being that much of a horrible person to throw away a baby, because it’s not a twin. Or the sewing together not working like I wonder why. Truly truly awful
The most important thing Eva did was, after many many choice words towards him, she forgave him. And mentioned that forgiving is an act of healing oneself.
I am distantly related to Josef Mengle, and what he did was horrible beyond comprehension. I'm kinda sad that some twins survived those experiments because they have to live through all of that trauma.
And yet no-one will bat an eye at North Korean concentration camp or Xinjiang Uighars concentration camp. Maybe 50 years later we will look back at them and how how people could be so indifferent towards the sufferings of others.

The fact that he was never punished and lived his life for 34 years after the end of WW2 is just sad and of course his excuse was he was just following orders
Dr. Mengele was nothing but a serial killer. If only there was a head doctor there who genuinely loved biology and medicine that would have been more careful with their experimentations, we would have propelled medical science to even greater heights
We need to remember that these things took place. So it’s good in a sense that we don’t hide away from it. It is fascinating to know how evil a person can become.
I think during that era, in Germany, during that war, humanity at large showcased precisely, exactly how horrible it could be. This was the point where we were at the absolute, searing apex of the terrible things humans could do. There is no condemnation for the past that can be put to fair and just words.
Anyone else hear the "dye in the eye" part and have a cringe pain moment? I mean it hurts getting an eyelash or shampoo in your eye but dye? And I imagine it being injected by needle and being tied to a table and watching the other people get different things injected and slowly one by one dying and you can hear them screaming in pain and you know your about to do the same but you don't When its finally your turn everything goes dark your alive and yes it hurts but not to a point where you feel like your dying and you live but your blind and your eyes are always in pain and dry and when this happened you were young and less then a year later you and your twin die Only me? Okay
Man, I was really hoping you'd be able to debunk that story or something. Not that I'm a Mengele apologist or deny that he was a horrible person, but to think that people actually were put through such horrific, nightmarish things is difficult to swallow. I just don't want it to be true.

I'm from Germany, and I am more and more in shock because of our country's past and the monsters it has produced. On the one side Mengele was nice to the kids, kinda like a father figure. A guy that couldn't harm a fly. And on the other side he was this! A degenerate A degenerate monster! Doing experiments like he is working on Frankenstein's Monster, if you catch my interpretation. He really was an angel. An angel of death.

I live in Brazil, and to think someone like that spent their last years in the same country I grew up in absolutely disgusts me.
The only doctor who manages to fail every single experiment he does.
Documents of a lot of his experiments were probably burned
If only what you are being told about Mengele was true and not false.
But there will be justice in the next life. No one truly escapes crimes of this level.

The most important thing Eva did was, after many many choice words towards him, she forgave him. And mentioned that forgiving is an act of healing oneself.

And I imagine it being injected by needle and being tied to a table and watching the other people get different things injected and slowly one by one dying and you can hear them screaming in pain and you know your about to do the same but you don't
When its finally your turn everything goes dark your alive and yes it hurts but not to a point where you feel like your dying and you live but your blind and your eyes are always in pain and dry and when this happened you were young and less then a year later you and your twin die
