  • Some feel the Quest 3 VR headset is one you should buy right now, others feel like the Quest 3 is one you should not buy right now - why is that? Let's dive into what makes the Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality headset a winner, but also a few things that make some feel like it's a "loser." If you're questioning whether you should upgrade from a Quest 2, or Valve Index, or Vive, or Vive Pro, this video may help you make that decision. Plus, with the QUEST 3S recently announced to come out later this year, how does that impact the value of the Quest 3 today? Come on in, and let's VIRTUAL OUR REALITY!

    Let's Virtual our Reality! 😉👌
    I ❤ my Quest 3.
    I was also blown away how much better it looks with these lenses. The Fresnel Lenses shouldn't even exist. Speaking of which, if the Quest 3 "S" has Fresnel Lenses. Then the "S" must stand for stupid! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

    I was looking for a VR headset and I've seen the pico 4 I was like okay that's an option and I've seen the quest 3 which is what I was going with and then I've seen PSVR2, And imagine the laugh I had when I realized that you have to get a 700$ console on top of the headset itself, and then I was like okay surely it has some features that would give it an edge if Sony made it that way....oh boy I was wrong, needless to say I liked the pico 4 and I ended up buying a quest 3 waiting to get it soon this month

    • @jollyjulian
      @jollyjulian  6 днів тому +3

      Yes - I love the journey you went through there! The PSVR2 - while I've never used it (partially for the reason you listed here), I think the best thing it has going for it are the haptics. But, after the pancake lenses of the Quest 3, it's hard to look at a headset that doesn't have that. And the PICO 4 - I've also not been able to try, as it's not available here in the United States. Plus, I worry about the gaming library not being very big, however, if for mostly PCVR, that doesn't really matter. I do hope to get my hands on a PICO headset someday, and really compare with the latest Meta..... thanks for the comment!

    The pancake lenses in the Q3 is the exact reason why I never went back to my Q2. The visual quality is outstanding. 3D movies on this thing are incredible, and I have ZERO interest in getting a 3D laser projector anymore. I just pop that thing on my head and watch movies in my own theater.

      I'm SO right there with you! The ability to be in a huge theater with a great screen without the cost of building one - AMAZING! And I love being able to bring friends into BIGSCREEN VR with me to watch things - including friends who live no where near me in the real world. Thanks for the comment - and here's to many years of great use of the quest 3!

    It took a while, but I really got sucked into Asgard's Wrath 2. I'm so glad I got a head strap with a battery because a play session in that game is double that of any other vr game I've played so far and I'd hate to have to charge the headset when I'm not ready to stop slaying monsters.
    I sweat while playing that game, my arms ache like I'm back in gym and I'm pretty sure I've lost weight because my six pack is more defined 😂.

      I love this so much, as well as the other comments on it! Yes, the fitness aspect of VR is incredible - working out without realizing it, and having so much fun doing it. And ASGARD'S WRATH II is a really great game, especially with the fact it's "standalone" and doesn't require PCVR. I have to get back into it - I really want to! I've only played probably about 2 hours of it, and can't wait to get in it again! Thanks for the comment!

    "We don't have such thing as a headset that you put it on, and it feels like you're not even wearing a headset."
    The Bigscreen Beyond says hi. This is a headset which is on the market today which has the attributes that you say we're years away from. Despite its tiny size, its FOV is similar to the Quest 3. It also has pancake lenses, but it has much higher resolution OLED displays. While expensive, it is a superior option for PCVR only usage over the Quest 3.
    I own both. I use the Beyond for PCVR (which is most of my use), and I use the Quest 3 when I travel or to play its exclusives. The Quest 3 feels like a fat pig and its display is a little fuzzy by comparison after using the tiny Beyond.

      @@SargonDragon I’ve watch many reviews on this Big screen Beyond and from what I’ve gathered. The only thing ‘’Big’’ about this HMD is the Regret you will have after buying it.
      1. You have to scan your face with an iPhone in order to place an order for one. So they can custom make a 3D print a face cushion for you and you alone.
      2. The inter-pupillary distance has to be set by them and them alone. There is no way to adjust it on your own. So if they’re off the image quality suffers.
      3. It’s the smallest PCVR HMD yes, similar to wearing swimming goggles on your face. We all know that isn’t comfortable for long periods.
      4. The OLED panels are flawed by Glare.
      5. It cost $1K
      6. No Audio included.
      7. Pancake Lenses are Tiny as well which provide small FOV. Yes, smaller than the Quest 3 💯 facts!
      These are the Negatives that I have gathered and are enough to keep me from ever getting it. I wouldn’t trade my Xreal Air 2 Pro glasses for one. But, If you enjoy it. That is all that matters…
      I went with the Pimax Crystal Light for my PCVR HMD they were already the Champions in the FOV department. Now they’re the Champions in the Best Visuals offered in an PCVR HMD at the cheapest prices. 💯 facts!
      The Quest 3 is 🏆🥇 it offers the Virtual Reality experience without needing a powerful pc to use it and so much more. It is the best bang for your buck. 💯 facts!

      @WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe great overall points.
      Pretty much all that you mentioned w the Big screen Beyond is what dropped my interest, and I even already have base stations from my Vive...but I also don't want to have to buy Index controllers...((Vive wands suck for most games, especially for FPS shooters that I prefer)
      The Quest 3 has been my overall champion hmd too, for price and great clarity, resolution, and solid FOV...and I use it almost totally for PCVR. It's great...though I miss what I feel is better tracking on my Quest 2. Yep, some issues with Q3 tracking, even in same conditions as with my Q2.

But, now that I have my Pimax Crystal Light~ Wow, Best Visuals I have ever seen in VR I am playing on a 4090 PC using my 2.0 Base Stations and Valve Index Controllers for Tracking. Love the convo happening here! I've looked into the BIGSCREEN BEYOND a bit, and I do see the benefits. Still worries about smaller FOV. One saying it's the same as Quest 3, one saying it's not. I thought I'd heard it was smaller. But, still interested, as I am (sort of) with the Pimax Crystal. I just don't like Pimax as a company, due to lots of promises not delivered and poor customer service. But I have heard peeps saying the Crystal is a pretty great headset. Thanks for all the comments here - want to see where this conversation goes!

      @@jollyjulian The Beyond has a different approach than other headsets on the market, and so it has some unusual drawbacks. It's the only headset which is custom made for the user like this. Its optical design is reliant on that, and it is unusually sensitive to eye positioning. When the fitment customization isn't quite right, it throws this off, and the display quality tanks with aberrations becoming very prominent. This affects everything from glare to FOV making it bad.
      There are a lot of reviews out there from people with fitment problems trashing on the Beyond. This headset has excellent customer service behind it though, and if you have these problems, they will eagerly work with you to get it right. So you'll see a lot of these reviewers later post an update that is very positive after swapping out for a unit with a different IPD or getting their cushion remade and suddenly the Beyond comes to life!
      The company claims that historically they get the customization right with 85% of their customers on the first try and that the 15% who don't was expected. They relate it to buying clothing over the internet. Sometimes the fit isn't quite right, and customers need to swap for a different size, etc.
      Note that the replies to my comment are coming from people who have never actually tried a Beyond themselves. They've heard things which are either out of proportion or just wrong. For example, the Beyond at 127g is multiple times smaller and lighter than any other VR headset on the market. _I can almost wear my Beyond inside my Pimax._ And yet they believe it's somehow less comfortable for long sessions?
      I actually own all of these headsets, and it is frustrating for me to read comments like that.
      Meanwhile, Bigscreen Beyond is becoming more and more prevalent among hardcore VRChat users for a reason.
