The amount of knowledge this man has is incredible!
Was just thinking the same thing. I know it's his job to know this for customers but he's encyclopaedic !
But he doesn't know his spray rails from his stringers😂
@@nigelwooldridge615can't see the wood for the trees
Anticipation for Part 3, noticed the quality of the plywood cores shows every detail is important
He has such pride and knowledge of all the products and processes to complete the job….amazing
The director giving the tour’s enthusiasm is infectious, which explains his own success within a company as successful as Princess. If I’m ever lucky or successful enough to be in the market for an 80 odd footer, I’m ringing him
He seems like he sincerely loves what he does and takes a lot of pride in his job. The best bosses know the product from the ground up but also know that their builders are their bread and butter and in part one he made sure to say so.
This is why AQUAHOLIC is at the forefront of boating videos. Well done Nick.
Thank you!
Screwed, glued with tongue & groove. Nothings going to move or, importantly squeek! - What an impressive quality organisation and the staff are so knowledgeable.
All looked good up to 11:06, not sure the split laminate wood would pass quality control, I'm sure they will replace 🤔
@@andyb9127 i see that too
What’s really amazed me was the mass production woven into one person spending over a week building one cabinet..
Fantastic insight into how they’re made
I'm glad that you are enjoying them 🙂
What an incredible company and their British 🇬🇧. Cutting edge technology and good old fashioned craftsmanship. The attention to detail is insane. Can’t wait to see the engine rooms being installed. Amazing job Nick.
Thank you!
The logistics… getting the right pieces built, prepped, all in the right place and at the right time… magicians!! Such a great tour!
I always find your yacht reviews pretty fascinating but I have to say Nick that you have surpassed your self over the last two weeks. These Princess yacht ( I hate to just call them factories) design, part manufacture and assembly plants has been absolutely fascinating. A total triumph. Really looking forward to next week.
That's lovely to hear 🙂
By far your best series, Theres not really many videos showing this. And its a great advertisement for Princess.
I'm glad that you're enjoyed them 🙂
Impressive and fascinating. Thank you to Princess for this tour. Looking forward to the next installment :)
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
Princess looks like a company you would be proud to work for.
This factory tour will gain them new orders, that's for sure,win/win for both of you!
This is a brilliant series of videos Nick.
Well done to both you and Princess. You for making them and Princess for having the foresight to show how their boats are made.
I'm glad that you are enjoying them 🙂
Blown away by the size and scale and quality of each and every process, and that goes into a Princess yacht.
Fantastic look at the different stages of boat building. So many skillful craftsmen/women. I can't get over the number of carpenters😮. Thank you Princess and of course Nick 😊🥂
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
At the beginning of the 1960's I started life as an apprentice joiner and ended up making the furniture in a Caravan manufacturers. There was a system of preparation by wood machinists but no where near to the same level. Each carpenter was always given the same pieces to assemble so he could make each item almost with is eyes closed on auto pilot. No doubt a similar practise takes place in this massive furniture shop. I am suitably impressed
You must hate Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond then. 😛
@@dangermouse8466 What have they got to do with manufacture
@@BarryRudge Those 3 destroyed everything you worked for. 😛 As fun as they were to watch, I felt they never pushed the envelope. They should have stepped up their caravan destroying game by destroying the manufacturers. 😛
Maybe because they've always trash talked factory workers? Not sure. @@BarryRudge
Incredible amount of work going on. You just take everything for granted when your touring a yacht. Now I will look at them in a different light. Thank you for showing us around behind the scenes Nick. Look forward to part 3
Nick,
When all four have aired can you re-release the entire series as a continuous long form “movie”? I’d literally rewatch the whole thing. The best brand shown by the best boat tuber. Incredible work
Thanks for the upload Nick. The tension from last week was killing me. I couldn't bare any longer. Another brilliant and fascinating episode. Thanks.
The belly of the beast! I'll be enjoying your Princess tours with a completely different perspective going forward, Nick. Thanks to you and the company for making this happen.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
Worked at Newport st in the late 80’s, totally different operation now, I remember fitting a winch from inside the chain locker on a Riviera 46, thanks Nick for getting this access and sharing. Great series!
Loved that 46 Riviera - beautiful boat!
Was waiting patiently for part 2. This guy knows every detail about everything. What ab asset to Princess Yachts. Hope his boss gives him a nice bonus
Absolutely fascinating. You can easily see why Princess cost what they do, and have the well deserved reputation. It would be very interesting to see comparable tours of facilities for mid and lower range lines. Thanks, Nick, for this amazing look at their operation. To think, I wasn't interested, initially. Now they are some of my favorites videos you've done.
I'm glad that you are enjoying them 🙂
You can tell he loves his work and proud of the company he works for what a great tour you are having .
Glad you're enjoying them 🙂
I have a new appreciation for what it takes to create one of these stunning yachts!
That tour of the Machine Shop brought back some memories. In my youth I trained on Milling Machines and Capstan Lathes both manual and CNC. I worked as a Turret Punch Press and Press Brake operator and a Drilling Machine operator/programmer on Printed Circuit Boards. Another great installment of this behind the scenes tour. I had a giggle at 16:25 when you are walking between shops there was a random tiny Palm Tree in the background!
Once again I am amazed at the skills and workmanship involved at building these yachts. Never realized what was involved. Can't wait for the next installment.
Another great video Nick 👍
Thank you!
Very impressed with the Director of Princess leading the tour and spending his time with you. His appreciation of his workers' talents say so much about his company.
Quite the logistical achievement to keep all these processes and plants in sync! Certainly does shine light on why luxury boats ARE indeed expensive! Can't wait for the next installment to this series!
Superb video, I'd be happy sweeping their floors 4hrs a day 3 days a week on minimum wage just to be a part of my favourite yacht manufacturer, absolutely stunning to see all the parts being made and assembled. 👏👏👏👏❤️🇬🇧
What an amazingly diverse and resourceful operation! That they manufacture so much of the boat themselves is really impressive. Thank you so much for such a close look.
Glad you're enjoying them 🙂
Utterly fascinating! So glad you were able to make this documentary!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Again, awesome Nick. Thank you for this VIP tour.
My pleasure!
If I was younger I’d love to work for this company in the design office, bringing a qualified electromechanical design draughtsman it brings back memories. I’m now a Quality Assurance manager but too old now to change companies (64 moving to 65) and retirement.
A great series Nick and would love to see one on Steel ships.
I can genuinely see awards being won for this series of vlogs. Truly outstanding content, well done Nick and Princess!
What an impressive company, to build luxury yachts in basically mass production, but still incredible attention to detail. Looking forward to part 3. Great tour Nick.
I'll never set foot upon let alone own a yacht of any kind, but I really appreciate the work that goes into Princess yachts. Nothing is mass produced crap, it's all hand made/finished and built bespoke for every yacht. This is incredible. Thank you for taking the time to take this tour and upload it for all of use to enjoy.
This has to be the best factory tour ever. Your man certainly knows the detail.
Brilliant stuff, Nick. Absolutely fascinating. Can't wait for part 3! Thanks very much
Blimey Nick. You’re drip feeding us 😂.
Absolutely amazing the sheer scale of the Princess operation. Really enjoying this series. Looking forward to the next one. K
Coming soon..!
What a joy to see just how these wonderful machines are made. Only NB gets this kind of access! Keep helping all dream sir 👍👍👍
Now I know why these boats cost as much as they do. 35000 man hours per boat is quite something, not to mention all that attention to detail and craftsmanship! Keep up this style of video Nick! We approve!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Princess continues to amaze, real furniture customized for each yacht and it’s owner.
The attention to detail is remarkable it’s no wonder they are a market leader
Thank You for the tour Nick
My pleasure!
Brilliant Nick. Just amazing the dedication the carpenters alone and the rest of the Princess crew have. I worked, some say I was employed 😄in the aviation business for over 30 years. There were really high standards there and a lot of great and talented people there. But the Quality at Princess is astounding. Cant wait for your next installment. Some more companies like Princess and you can put the Great back in to Britain.
I hope this man is well paid. His knowledge my well be irreplaceable.
I understand why these yachts are so expensive. The engineering that goes in to them is astounding. But, just as impressive is the skill required to actually build them is incredible.
It would be interesting to see a similar tour of a "lesser" brand's operation. I would like to compare and contrast processes used. Also, seeing the operations at a brand like Heesen would be equally fascinating. I would be particularly interested in seeing how Northern European builders achieve perfection in fairing and paint work.
All on all a very fascinating series. It is a nice change from a simple tour of a boat. I have certainly gained not only an appreciation for the reason yachts cost so much, but why it takes so long to build them.
Masterful video(s), Nick!!!!
Glad you're enjoying them 🙂
Loving this 🫶🏼 Part one finished so abruptly 😂 happy to see the continuation 🌟
More to come!
I love the fact that this chap can look at the smallest or largest component and know which boat it belongs to. Truly fascinating Nick. I am absolutely glued, screwed and tongue and grooved to this series!🤣👍
What a fantastic tour, hats off to such a perfect operation. These days it's so nice to see a British company doing a job so thorough and such quality. I keep banging on about Fairline which I absolutely love but you gotta respect these 😁👍🏴
It's so nice to see something that's prior to your boating enjoyment. And it really crystallises the skill and effort that goes onto building a super yacht.
Thank you for bringing this to us, it's an absolute watch !! 😊
Glad you're enjoying them 🙂
Great episode 2. Thank you Nick. Looking forward to the next installment!
Next Sunday! 🙂
Ive been to hundreds of factories and companies and i always request or get a tour. I love the guys like this man who know everything about everything. Great tour.
Absolutely superb, what an honour to get a guided tour from such a knowledgeable bloke. Living the dream Nick.👍🏴
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is an amazing series and a huge thanks from me to Princess for the access
It is so nice that they let you film everything, very interesting! I am a boatbuilder myself and I have visited boat factories but in a much much smaller scale!
I caught the line where he said the drawers and other pieces are cut from the same piece of wood so they can keep the grain patters in the layout which is extremely cool but also, several years back now, in the very first video i watched on this channel or about boats in general, nick actually made mention of it and even zoomed in with the camera to show it better. I remember him woundering outloud if it was on purpose or not because that level of detailing would be absolutely insane. The boat was a Princess. From that video on, every tour nick does, ive looked to see of i could tell if the grain patterns line up and that is one of the measures i use for deciding how much time and effort were put into the build. They are clearly not all built the same but i love that i just had a full circle moment where the gentleman doing the tour said that it is 100 percent on purpose and it just made my day.
Epic factory tour Nick. This has been one of your most amazing series to date. What an incredible operation! .. very much looking forward to the rest.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Love this little series Nick, the scale of the operation is mind blowing!
Glad you're enjoying it 🙂
Loving this series and your host that taking you around is wonderful and very knowledgeable, cant wait for the next episode
Glad you're enjoying them 🙂
Brilliant part two Nick. Fantastic. What a company Princess are. The scale of the production process in producing these beautiful yachts is amazing. The level of workmanship that goes into each boat. You can understand why they command such a high price. Hand made. Beautiful craftsmanship. It has been a pleasure to watch and the chap certainly knows his stuff doesn’t he. Top marks to Aquaholic again Nick for another fabulous video and thank you for sharing it with us all and for all the time and effort you put into these videos. Really appreciated. Take care.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
@@AQUAHOLIC 👍
What an excellent series this is! I'm looking forward to when I can binge watch them one after the other. Great work Nick. Would it be worth to you to see if any other manufacturers would allow or give you this sort of tour? The workshops all look like the workers enjoy their work, and you can tell that they take pride in what they are making and/or building. Very very interesting stuff. Thanks for showing us and a big thanks to Princess Yachts.
Great video's.
I may well do 🙂
Having trained as a cabinet-maker half a century ago, I'm very impressed to see modern high-tech machinery reproducing age-old techniques to make such exquisite hand-made furniture and fittings. This is a superb series - well done Nick!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Thank you Nick, this has been an incredible visit, massive thanks to Princess for allowing you an all-areas tour, and being able to film most of it.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
Fascinating series Nick.
Really hope this gets the viewers it deserves.
Should be a must watch for any potential boat buyers and those starting in the industry... 👍
Thank you!
Unbelievable the amount of work and skills that go into these yachts, great video Nick 👍
Thank you!
Fascinating video, thanks for making it! And such positive PR for Princess. I love that they make so much in-house.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am loving this series, so much to see, so much to take in and the attention to detail is amazing. Really looking forward to part 3.
Glad you're enjoying it 🙂
Great episode! Thanks for part 2! Keep those cameras rolling Aquaholic team! 👍👍

Absolutely amazing, quality and craftsmanship at it's finest.
What a star asset the director must be for Princess. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow! Can't wait for Episode #3! I do hope the assembly line is featured!
Of course! That's where we're going next 🙂
What an unbelievable company, I am blown away by the quality
I’m impressed with the engineering, quality and knowledge
Princess produce fabulous boats, its really interesting to see all the amazing details of all the types of wood used and the machines used by the firm to produce the different woods for the different type of boat. Fascinating.
I'll never look at the furniture again without thinking about the light but strong furniture. Thanks Nick and the enthusiastic gentleman who took you round.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Thank you, Nick, a really fascinating series, I can’t wait for the next episode!
Another great video. The scale is staggering 140 odd carpenters. You can see the workmanship and time that goes in to making the furniture. Incredible. Nick you forgot to wave.
I said on the last video, I will say it on this one…. Fascinating. I am LOVING this mini series! 🎉
Amazing craftsmanship! The sheer size of those top decks! Thanks Nick for the great upload!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The wood shop workers are the unsung hero's of the industry!
Holy Shit! I cannot wait until next week. The machinery alone just to make parts is incredible. I'm truly blown away.
I just want to say "massive thanks" to Aquaholic for presenting this 3 part series. Cheers!
You're very welcome!
Absolutely love these types of videos Nick! Such a great peek behind the curtain.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
I’m eating humble pie already having commented frequently about overpriced yachts and thinking how can they produce such exquisite quality vessels so reasonably priced!
This series of vlogs are “fantastic” Nick and many thanks to Princess for their cooperation in making them.
Glad you're enjoying them 🙂
You're doing exceedingly well keeping up, Nick! The director is knowledge, on speed............
I’m blown away. As a retired accountant, I could see a fleet of accountants, bookkeepers, tax accountants, cost accountants, IT professionals, all working behind the scenes to keep the business afloat. The overheads associated with boatbuilding are just enormous. Project managers, sales people, office staff, marketing staff, legal staff, the usual HR types, naval architects, designers, engineers, auditors, the list goes on. Load all these on top of the people actually doing the building, and you have one expensive boat. Don’t forget the executives and board members. They also add to the cost of a yacht. So do the sales commissions. 2,700 staff? Holy Moley!
This is an amazing series, Nick to be able to see first hand the whole process. Kudos for having the means to secure this for us. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Having worked in factories like box trucks, train cars etc for 2 dozen years, I have to say that's very impressive. They make an astounding amount of the boats themselves instead of buying parts, which means it has the same quality. It's also very clean and well organized.
WOW this bloke astounded me his knowledge about every part there's thousands and he knows them all he is definitely werth his money lol looking forward to the next that should be another epic video your brain must be fried taking all this info in Nick
Wow, again another incredible episode,if I'm ever fortunate enough to afford a Princess yacht, I'd have one in a heart beat ,the British craftsmanship is incredible. Looking forward to in next instalment in the series.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Another great episode! Can’t wait for the 3rd installment! Thanks, as always Nick for bringing this to us!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Staggering. Cannot fathom how or who organized this absolute ballet for producing these wonderful boats.
Absolutely fantastic video.. Proud to see beautiful quality English craftsmanship thriving and surviving in a modern world.
Great stuff Nick. Absolutely mind boggling logistics and planning involved.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant Nick, looking forward to part 3.
Thanks Nick , so fantastic too see the scope and Quality of workmanship at the Princess workshop.
My pleasure!
Wow. Amazing set-up and excellent tour guide 👍
What a way to start the week! 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
hat? It's sunday, last day of the week.
Fantastic insight into the process behind the glamour! Did anyone else notice the split wood in the unit at 11mins 11 seconds, hopefully quality control would pick that up!
That’s just mind blowing that they literally make everything in house…incredible quality of production.
Hey Nick, thanks so much for this behind the scenes look… This is mind blowing, so much going on when building one of these boats. I think I’m gonna tuck myself in with a good book now 😉
My pleasure!
Absolutely fascinating series Nick, can’t wait for the next instalment. These could be your most successful videos yet!
I'm glad that you enjoy it 🙂
