The moment Sesshomaru saved her from the arm thing in the woods, but let her land in a bush was when I realized they didn't have a guardian bond. He encouraged her to take care of herself I stead of coddling her. They made each other stronger by giving each other a safe place to be weak.
Sesshomaru’s mother being the apparent exception at the moment. She apparently didn’t take a human lover from what we could see, both in the manga and the anime.
When i was a kid i always thought Sess looked at rin like his pet. You let them be free and happy but u still care for them (how i would look at my puppers). Now obv i see it more differently xD
The show was called Inuyasha, with Sesshoumaru introduced as his mean older brother. I thought that Sesshoumaru acting like a "surrogate older brother" to little Rin and learning: kindness, pity, sympathy and patience through that experience, taught how to be an 'real' brother to Inuyasha. I thought that was his redemption. Hmmm interesting.
i havent read the manga so i dont know what Sesshomaru says but in the anime Sesshomaru says "i'll do another test, i'll use the Tenseiga" after he brings rin back to life Sesshoamru then states "Tensegia you compelled me to save a human life today"
If Sesshoumaru never saw how happy his brother Inuyasha was for taking care of Kagome, which helped Inuyasha Inherit the tessaiga. Then I’m Sesshoumaru would have still continued to hate humans where he wouldn’t bring Rin back to life.
Rozie Won Sesshoumaru also knew Inuyasha loved Kagome when he first saw Kagome with him since I remember Sesshoumaru said it to Inuyasha when they were all in their father’s Skeleton where the Tessaiga was, even though Inuyasha always denied that he loved her.

I noticed early on that he wasn't a bad guy, I mean I'm pretty sure if he really wanted to kill inuyasha he could have. He took to ren way too quickly. And I could be mistaken but I don't remember him ever killing any innocents. Yes he killed demons or villains, but I honestly don't remember him truly being evil, just mean and seemingly heartless. But I think that yes he was mean, but the heartlessness was an act.
@Sonic the Artist so you didn't either see the end episode or you didn't understand. Before Sesshomaru receive the blade made by himself, he was inside a cocoon made out of demons. At the same time, InuYasha steps in trying to help his brother (yes he says that no one else but himself is going to kill him... But we know that both swords are made as a balance... Like Jin - Jang .. so they can't kill each other) Their father knew that the day will come that Sesshomaru will have his own blade, and he was concerned about the devastating power he might have at this point if he never feels love or compassion in any form. That also why Sesshomaru's sword didn't help him when he got his arm cut off, but later did protect him from the attack. In order to maintain peace, both brothers need to learn to get along. At the end of the last episode, you see Rin living in the village where InuYasha and Kagome, and all other friends with families are living. So he trusts his brother with Rin's protection... It's not said, but if someone would attack Rin ... Inuyasha and his friends are there to protect her till he arrives. (That you can see in the manga only ... That the episode about 6months after Kagome came back and a Root - demon attacks the village... And of course Sesshomaru arrives) So if he is willing to die to protect Rin... But let's her live with his brother and friends... So it's understood that he knows that she would be save with them and she has protection.
As a kid I didn’t even realize that this beautiful character development. At the time I was 6-10 so I watched it and it didn’t pick up on me because I was to young to understand character development. I’m literally begging my friends to watch this beautiful masterpiece with me. I will tie them up and bring them to my house if needed.
I am excited to see more of his development in the sequel knowing he'd take a human as a wife and fathered two Hanyous. It's like him saying he finally accepted InuYasha as his dear brother. 🤣

Why is everyone surprised though? They foreshadowed this hard through the whole series. Sesshomaru's mother even made a joke saying he is like his father for his interest in a human girl. Also there was literally an audio drama which locked it in even more.

Also when Kagome falls in episode 22 of Final Act , Sesshoumaru wouldn't catch her ( when he fight Inuyasha in his youkai form ) and only said "What A dumb " when looking at Kagome and literally to everyone
Well I think the reason Inuyasha barely does that with Kagome is because she has priestess powers and can protect herself vs Rins a child and is completely vulnerable so if she’s in danger it’s understandable that he just drops everything and runs to protect her
@@HetaliaKaye yes and no?? kagome can DEFINITELY protect herself but inuyasha is also learning his strength through the entirety of the series (which is the same as her). they are growing together. rin's also completely vulnerable, yes, but the thing is, sesshomaru started out as a completely selfish and self-centered person. him holding rin's life, a mortal life of an orphan child (aka a life that wouldn't have been missed in the human world anyway), above ALL else is different because for the literal first time, someone is as important to him as *he* is important to *himself*. before, since rin is weak, he would've accepted her death as a "survival of the fittest" ideal. but rin is the one teaching him compassion, so that's why he's constantly going out of his way for her, and why he's been going out of his way for everyone *she* deems deserving of compassion (like kaguya, for example).

In my reply I was implying that I didn’t agree with this statement saying that Inuyasha doesn’t have to come to Kagomes aid every time because she’s able to defend herself and Sesshomaru always comes to rins aid because she’s a child and can’t defend herself. She travelled with Sesshomaru for less than a year, and then he left her with Kaede so she could learn how to live with humans and choose what she wanted to do when she came of age. Rin always had her agency, and Sesshomaru made that explicitly clear multiple times throughout the series. It was always by her choice that she stayed with him. Have you watched/read the series in it’s entirety?

Rin may die long before Sesshoumaru, but in many ways she is very right when she says she'll be with him forever. There's a chance she's the first person he's ever cared for and it's obvious she means a lot to him. She'll be in his heart for all eternity TwT
That is the thing. She is human, once she gets out of the tree of ages she will continue to grow old and die. I don't want thaaat. I was thinking of a possibility that there may be a chance for her to age slower...but I don't think they intend to do that
I think that after she gets out of the Tree Of Ages, Sesshomaru, Towa, Setsuna and maybe Rin herself will go on a mission to find a herb or plant to MAKE her immortal, just like Rin found the plant to save Jaken when she was a little girl! I think there’ll be more than just this one season of Yashahime, I mean, Inuyasha went on for 8 seasons! Sailor Moon Crystal had a few seasons, and that was just telling the same Sailor Moon story that we already know so I definitely think there’s room to have more!
Also Jaken is the underdog of the series lol he’s put up with so much. Shoot, the fire that the twins were caught in, he probably had something to do with it. 😂
If Jaken did have something to do with the fire, I wouldn't mind if the following also happened, one day an adult Rin was so hungry, she mistook Jaken as a frog, and cooked him as a meal.

If anything, he would go out the way to treat them like the princesses they are, especially they're the princesses of his lord. The only person he'd have problem is Moroha. Because of how the relationship of the brothers were, and how InuYasha treated Jaken at one point, for example: "Hey Jaken, you're kind of stretchy," any child of InuYasha would not be welcomed.

An interesting note about Sesshoumaru’s second fight with the monks: At first when the main monk blasts him with that big spiritual attack he reaches for Tōkijin, presumably to kill them. But then he hesitates and sees that Rin is watching. Only then does he release his sword and decide to just flex on the monks without actually killing them, presumably because he didn’t want Rin to witness him killing humans that for all intents and purposes were just trying to help.
In my opinion, Sesshomaru treated Rin as a precious companion and not as a child. And in this new series, Rin got older and to all those who questions the age gap......bruh he's a yokai that means if his children are half-demon, the mother is most probably gotta be younger than him and i dont really see why some are so adamant about measuring yokai age in human standards.

He only ever sees her at face value-as Rin, a human. Are there any episodes/chapters where Sess remotely suggested that he's going to take care of Rin so he can marry her when she got older? If there is, I was unaware of it so please give the ep./chap. Also, in the drama CD (supervised and approved by RT), he said that "You can examine your heart at your own pace." He's clearly both implying that Rin can take her time and he's also going to respect her decisions (if ever she did not want him). Thus, he left Rin with Kaede. Sesshoumaru is not a shallow character and I'm kinda pissed off that there are people like you who seems to not see that. Sorry.

Most of the time you can see Rin getting left on her own. Gakken and the dragon pet was just there to guard her. She was left to do what she wants. WDYM grooming
I also love the fact that Inuyasha could've killed Sesshomaru back then but Tenseiga protected him and he "randomly" teleported to where Rin is (or where she could see him eventually) at that time. I can't help but think that the Tenseiga chose that area so that he could meet Rin. Maybe something that Sesshomaru's father "pre-programmed" in Tenseiga before giving it to him. I mean, there are lots of times when Tenseiga acts on its own to guide/protect Sesshomaru so, maybe it was really Inu no Taisho's doing behind the scenes... Idk 😂😂
Um the villagers used to beat Rin up and chase her out the village and she stumbled upon Sesshomaru in the forest after they chased her away how would his father know which direction they would chase her in? and Sesshomaru only protects her because he feels bad about seeing what the villagers (not just kids but adults too) were doing to her and then she gets mauled to death by Koga’s wolves, it was truly sad to see a sweet child suffer so much with seemingly no one to protect her and showed he wasn’t as cold as he lets on, not because he was destined to be in love with her WTF and the original writer of the series has gone ON RECORD to say that Rin and Sesshomaru have a father/daughter relationship WHY are you fantasizing about a 10 year old child with a 600+ year old ancient being? cartoon or not that’s freaking weird and gross. They waited for Kagome to turn 18 and come back to be with Inuyasha in the original so no it’s not “the times”. The original writer did not intend for Rin and Sesshomaru to be romantic in any way. And Rin liked Kohaku.
I believe Rin is the mother when she comes of age during that time. So that would be about 16. If she’s isn’t the mother, they would have to great lengths and explain how Sesshomaru would interact with another human female. These are my two favorite characters from the show and I love writing fanfiction about them.

The mother for Towa and Setsuna is more than likely Rin however we will get a definite answer once Yashahime is released (hopefully within the first few episodes.) I'd honestly be surprised if it was anyone else but we shall see! The possibility of a romantic relationship between them sparks a huge controversy in the community, majority from Western viewers. To me Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship in the anime/manga never came off as father-daughter/older brother-younger sister although neither did it give any sign of it being romantic. You had these two characters who formed an unlikely bond built literally around them saving one another in their own way. It is just so simplistic and pure; there is no expectations set from either side about what should or shouldn't be, what they are or are not. They accept each other for who and what they are which is what helps them grow, learn, and bring out the best in each other. It is purely platonic and its honestly what I love so much about it. Rin stayed with him and Jaken for about a year before going to live with Kaede in the village once Naraku was defeated. During the time she accompanied the two for the most part she was self-sufficient when it came to taking care of herself. Sesshomaru's role throughout that time was pretty much just protecting her and when she got kidnapped coming to the rescue. Jaken would go with her to keep an eye out while she was looking for food or stay with her to keep her safe whenever crazy shit went down. Actions that showed he definitely cares greatly about Rin, clearly has her best interest at heart but nothing that ever insinuated he saw her in any way that was philial or nonplatonic. I wouldn't be devastated if Rin wasn't the mother of the twins but if it is officially confirmed I am all for it. Fans who are focusing too heavily on this just need to have faith in Rumiko Takashi and the team working behind Yashahime.
Yeah I agree! He also brings Rin gifts like kimono really pretty kimono. Sesshomatu wanted Rin to live and grow up in a village until she grew up. That's what I think. Yes all signs are pointing to Rin at this point but still don't know for sure. Either way I love Setsuna and Towa already so I can't wait until the show premiers! :)
Thank you! I've been saying that for years! As you said, Sesshomaru's and Rin's relationship is completely undefined and can grow in many ways. Saying they had a clear father daughter relationship is just not true. They actually travelled together for well less than a year and then Kaede raised Rin. I admit that their relationship could have grown into a father daughter or into a romantic relationship years later. Both are likely and I for one prefer them becoming a couple. Just the idea of the very sweet little human Rin, with no powers or fighting skills, taming the heart and soul of the most powerful and badass characters in the show, is just a great story in it self. It shows we don't need to be powerful in the traditional sense to end up a truly powerful character through love and compassion.
If you've ever seen the anime movie "Hotarubi no Mori e", you will see somewhat of a parallel between Hotaru and Gin's relationship and Sesshomaru and Rin. Like Rin, Hotaru meets Gin (a non-human supernatural being) when she gets lost in a forest when she is a little child (6) and they form a close bond. Every summer as Hotaru grows into a woman, they begin developing romantic feelings for each other. Their relationship is how I see SessRin.
The only way for the mother not to be Rin is if Sesshomaru slept with a different woman(so out of character). Or some woman drug him and took advantage of him(also out of character) 😂😂😂

For who believes that Kagura will be brought back to life, it is impossible now as the author, Rumiko herself considered her long dead and thought her death scene was overplayed, (Source: Inuyasha Wide). And to those who believes that Kagura and Sesshomaru has a thing, the author and the seiyuu already cleared this, Rumiko plans Kagura to have an ' unrequited love ' and Ken Narita (Sessho's VA) said Sesshomaru only felt compassion for her. Also Rumiko said that, Sesshomaru only 'appeared' to be angry about her death because of classic shonen plot/vibe, and it is easier to pull it off on Sesshomaru. (Source: Yashahime Gallery).
@@lalahadams1061 Sesshoumaru saw her as an valuable ally, not an love interest. Even so he when to her when she was dieing hoping to save her with the tensaiga. Kagura wanted to be free from Naraku- in death she got her freedom. Her main goal in life was to be as free as the wind, not to be tied down to another man no matter how much she loved him.

It just doesn't make sense to be some random human. Rin has touched Sesshomaru's heart. Sesshomaru ages slowly while Rin would age. I think they got together when Rin was 16.

Same I never saw them a father daughter or brother sister relationship. It would be great if that was the case considering the time frame. People tend to forget that this was quite normal back then. Hell this type of relationship still occur nowadays though for obvious reasons it’s quite frowned about for good reasons.

And he'd help her if something threatened her.She found her own food and stuff.Also,Kaedeh told him she should spend time with humans so he left her in the village,only going back time to time to bring clothes,ect.So you can't really say he "babysat" her.

What I especially like about their relationship is that he is one of the strongest yokai and he has this incredible connection with one of the most simplest humans he could have found. There is nothing particular special about Rin, she is a peasant, an orphan, is not especially beautiful, and has no special power. She has an enormous heart, is brave and caring, and that was enough. It was everything he lacked and that made him more powerful. It is actually incredible. He goes from hating all humans and his mid-blood brother to being a total different person after her and has a goal and stopped being aimless and becoming more powerful because of her. Rin and Kagome were always my favourite characters. It was only natural that he could only love her. They never behaved as father/daughter. It was always an exchange of equals which it says a lot about how important is her existence to him, a Yokai. Him leaving her in Kaede’s village foresees their development. He will always give her the choice, and she will always choose forever with him, which probably it is why he loves her. Even if it means trouble. He has and will live thousands of years. She will only be a glimpse in his life, and become the center of it. The name of their daughters Towa and Setsuna, represents this duality, “moment and eternity”. Really perfect writing.
I loved Rin the moment she appeared on screen but when she gave Sesshomaru that toothless smile...😢 she became my favorite. Can I also add that her sass with Jaken is something I LOVED in the show! 😂😂😂 Something about little Rin talking down to him is hilarious to me, especially because they have this almost rival relationship with each other. Its like they're competing for Sesshomaru's attention and approval sometimes which is so cute and funny! 😂😂😂 Point is, when I watched Inuyasha it got to the point where I literally wanted every single episode to feature team Sesshomaru (Sesshomaru, Rin, and Jaken). Rin is just the best and Sesshomaru became the best and Jaken just adds the best...together they just make the best team in the show and all anime and no one can convince me otherwise.

Absolutely. Even the one who was a father to Rin could be Jaken, because he did take care of her as one. I thought it was good that Sesshomaru left her in the village with Kaede so that when he returned, Rin already had more mature fellings, it was a rather long "test", where she barely saw him according to the author. I hope that Sunrise or the people who work at Yashahime bring us their love story, how then those feelings of LOVE came up from both of them in an OVA.
I don't know...I don't feel a reluctant feeling about accepting a romantic relationship between Sesshomaru and Rin. He always gave her the choice to be with him or not. And the drama CD shows his true feelings, but also respects any decision coming from her...I don't get the grooming stuff some people bring up and their relationship was never a father-daughter type.
Wife husbandry is a very prevalent trope in Japanese literature, people (Westerners) just have to get over it. For this to be retconned for their sensibilities would only work to degrade the depth of the story. Anyways this is literally feudal Japan.
I think people forget that Rumiko Takahashi says that, if human, Sesshomaru would be 19. Rin is about 9-10 ish... Sesshomaru ages very slowly, but even if he did age, A 10 year age gap doesn't make him a father figure...and as couples go, a 10-ish year age wasn't uncommon back then...even now ( when legal)... It's not child grooming if given the fact that he ages much much slower than humans do, It would take only a few years before Rin would be in his biological age gap and feelings could form... But, I think the anime +voices make him seem much older...like mid twenties...
So I was very curious if Rin being the mother of the twins would be morally appropriate and possible so I went and did some minuscule research and some basic math for the timeline. By the time the twin girls were 14, Rin would be 31 years old because she was 11 years old at the end of the series Final Act. 20 years after the final act, the twins are 14. Then I subtracted Rin's age at that time (31) from the current age of the twins (14) and she would have been 17 years old when the twins were born. I'm not saying she IS the mother but if she were, she was definitely not "adult age" according to our moral standards but back in that time period, she would be be considered "of marriageable age". So say she did marry Sesshy maybe around age 16 which might I remind you was considered "of age" to be married back then. It would make sense and be very possible. I can only hope the marriage came first. But who knows?

There’s one episode that a girl likes miroku and says shes ready to marry and have kids and aome/kagome thinks just this that the girl is younger than her probably 15 and then she says something like oh right this is the past it was normal back then and is both surprised and amazed at the maturity of the girl
Japan's age of consent is lax compared to the U.S. Heck, the age of consent over here is 17 in somes states. So, Rin having kids at that age would be fine. Its nothing extreme like if they went with whatever age those feudal times deemed fine for marriage.

Even if they did get together when she was older, he knew her when she was a child and I feel like that would be the same as conditioning a child into a romantic relationship for when they turn older. I am so stoked for Yashahime tomorrow! I started watching Inuyasha the night it first aired on American television when I was 9 years old. I just want to say that, as a child, I NEVER thought of Sesshomaru and Rin as father/daughter. I just saw them as close companions. As I grew up with the show, I started to love the idea of Sesshomaru and Rin ending up together when Rin was OLDER, not a child. I wrote sooo many fanficitons about them and drew tons of fan art. I still remember when the drama cd was released and I was so happy it included a recording of Sesshomaru basically proposing to Rin. Now we should hopefully have confirmation that Sesshomaru and Rin did end up together! It was never “creepy” or strange t me, even as a kid. I knew Rin would grow up and they would fall in love. I just cannot see Sesshomaru ever becoming that close to any other human. I’m shocked people in the Inuyasha fandom would prefer that. I would be devastated lol. I think another reason their relationship is normal for me was because I watched “The Thorn Birds.” The protagonists fall in love in a very similar way.

Exactly! I also wrote fanfictions though they were more of short stories but only from Rin's perspective during her stay with Kaede. I never thought of their relationship as creepy either even when I was a child as all I saw was a kid following a demon lord who became one of his companions. And since he left her with Kaede, and is not with her for the majority of her life, I think the idea they ended up together is plausible
And yet fans are still saying if she’s the mom, the creators would be “turning Sesshomaru into a groomer”. I posted something on tumblr about this. First of all, I never saw them as a potential couple when watching the show, because Rin was still a KID. It’s only when I saw fan art of them as adults that I started seeing the potential. And then the sequel came and I saw all these hints of Rin being the mom. Look, if they don’t like it, that’s completely fine. But it doesn’t change that fact that some of them are falsely accusing people of encouraging pedophilia for liking this couple. Saying things like, “you don’t see the potential in their characters. All you see is a sad girl who needs a big bad demon guy to lift her spirits enough for her to fall for him and for him to empragnate her and fulfill your gross fantasies when she gets old enough” What does that even mean? That I think they have no opportunity for character growth because I like their couple?? Sure. Because that makes sense. I agree 100%. Well put. Their relationship was pretty much left blank at the end of the series. It was just made clear that Sesshomaru cared about her above all others and that's it. That love could have grown into a father/daughter relationship or into a Romantic relationship. Neither option is "wrong".
Brienne Phillips You’re acting like Sesshomaru was in a scenario where he met his best friend’s daughter, knew her thoroughly for like 15 long years while she was a child, and then decided to ask her out on a date when she turned 18 or something. Which I understand would be gross. But that’s not what would be happening in the sequel if Rin turns out to be the mom. He didn’t spend that much time with her or got to know her all that much. He wanted her to stay with Kaede when she was still a kid so she could properly be a free person since traveling with him was obviously too dangerous. Yes, he visited her occasionally of course, because why wouldn’t he? That is not him taking advantage of her AT ALL if they end up together in the future.

Someone addressed to be from a translation in a Japanese Magazine that Rin will appear halfway into Season 1. And will appear in season 2 if they make one. Also heard Sesshomaru will have a bigger role. And Inuyasha and Kagome have minor roles in Yashahime.
@Kuooii One of the animators actually drew pictures of her as a teenager with Sesshomaru for a calendar. Not sure if she will look the same. But she didn't have her side ponytail her hair was long and tied back like ow Sango's was when not in her demon slayer outfit.
Great video. In the Final Act, even Sesshomaru's mother noticed that Rin is very important to her son. "All this fuss over one human girl. He's become like his father in the strangest ways" The only comparison you can draw here is Sesshomaru/Rin's relationship vs Toga/Izayoi's, another youkai/human romance. That is a huge foreshadowing.
I honestly never saw a father/daughter relationship between Sess and Rin. I always thought theirs is a relationship that is unconditional and I could never quite place it-could never put a name as to what kind of love. Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship is absolutely the reason why I realized that RT is a magnificent storyteller. How can she make me feel a form of love that is hard to name? I knew that there's romantic love between Kagome and Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku; a familial love with the Higurashis, Sango and Kohaku; Philia between Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, and Sango. But what about Sesshoumaru and Rin? I had a hard time describing the kind of love between them. Lyk, y'know, the fact that Sessh respects Rin's autonomy amd doesn't treat her like a child but almost an equal??? And Rin's loyalty and trust to a great demon??? If Rin's not the mother of the twins, that's fine with me. Only if they are going to introduce someone (with justification) who Sesshoumaru loves more than Rin because it would be too sad for the mother if clearly, Sessh cares for Rin more than her. It would also be too out character for Sessh if he banged just anyone lmao. Let's not throw his character development because it's one of the best aspect of the series. Spoiler ahead: Ep 4 had SessRin moments. If Sunrise is using these two as marketing strategy only to get us hooked, I'll flip.
I think Rin and Sesshomarus relationship would look less like grooming if it was shown from a view point that he simply saved her as a girl and then left her in the village with kaede to grow up and if they can successfully show their relationship beginnings it would be an easier pill to swallow. I could say many things about this relationship, write a book for sure, but just small comment, that appeared fresh in my mind while listening to that video. I like and it stand outs to me, that little moment when Rin was running away from wolves. She didn't know Sesshoumaru that well, he wasn't talkative and was distancing himself from her. He never protected her before. But she was running while looking for him, searching INSTINCTIVELY for his protection. And she somehow KNEW that even badly wounded, Sesshoumaru would take out those wolves no problem and that no doubt, he will. Make of that what you want...
I think another reason that Sesshomaru doesn't attack the monks is because somewhere inside he was probably hesitant to violently kill a group of humans in front of Rin. She's never really looked at him with fear, but that might have changed had he chosen to kill the monks.
How about the part that when the second time Rin died from entering the meido world, Sesshomaru was willing to do anything to save her, and after Sesshomaru took Rin out of the Meido Zangetsuha, Sesshomaru was secretly sad and his mother brought Rin back to life. After seeing Sesshomaru's reaction that he was shocked, he seemed to be secretly happy as Jaken said. Just like Inuyasha, he was hiding his tears to Kagome's death, so as Sesshomaru to Rin's. Sesshomaru can control his emotions better than Inuyasha, but the way Sesshomaru also touched Rin on her face seemed somewhat more romantic than a father-daughter love or friendship love, too.
I don't know how I missed this video but now that I found it , it was amazing. You totally get their relationship. Rin was not groomed but cherished and given every opportunity to live with her own kind or stay with Sesshomaru. He always gave her a choice, I am so glad you saw that. It is a love story that is not as strange in Japanese lore as it would be in our western stories. Rin is valued above all things to Sesshomaru even at a young age. That is why he gave her the choice to return to him. When she was matured. I love their story so much, to me it is a wholesome look into the heart of an all powerful demon male who could have anyone and chose a simple human girl with a pure soul.

I think things like flight and transformation are more full demon abilities. The only (natural) half demons we've seen are jinenji and inuyasha and for the most part they are very plain. Their actual demon abilities are kind of limited. I could be wrong though! We will see :)
The thing that really sells Sesshoumaru's and Rin's relationship is that there is no unnecessary stress, tension or dysfunction. It is just respect and underlying sense of compassion that is present between them. For that reason, I do enjoy the bond that they have and I do wish that there could have been a spin-off show involving them. This is completely opposite to Inuyasha and Kagome where they would develop feelings but then go back to their old bickering, squabbling, and grumbling ways with Kagome "sitting" Inuyasha for little to no reason at all. Hence, InuKag has always been my biggest NOTP of all time. In order to give Rin the family she has always wanted, I would let Inuyasha dump Kagome once and for all, let him join with Sesshoumaru to be Dad Number Two to Rin because Sesshoumaru is already Dad Number One to her and have Ayame be happily wed to both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha as Rin's mother. Just toss in Dai, Roku, Kai, Shiori, and Shinta, and they will be Rin's siblings with Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha being her little sisters. And there you have it, Rin's happy family complete with two strong dads, one brave mom, three older brothers, one younger sister, and one younger brother and a whole lot of synergy. Don't look at me, it's the AU headcanon impulse speaking in me.

i havent read the manga so i dont know what Sesshomaru says but in the anime Sesshomaru says "i'll do another test, i'll use the Tenseiga" after he brings rin back to life Sesshoamru then states "Tensegia you compelled me to save a human life today"

Before Sesshomaru receive the blade made by himself, he was inside a cocoon made out of demons. At the same time, InuYasha steps in trying to help his brother (yes he says that no one else but himself is going to kill him... But we know that both swords are made as a balance... Like Jin - Jang .. so they can't kill each other)
Their father knew that the day will come that Sesshomaru will have his own blade, and he was concerned about the devastating power he might have at this point if he never feels love or compassion in any form. That also why Sesshomaru's sword didn't help him when he got his arm cut off, but later did protect him from the attack.
In order to maintain peace, both brothers need to learn to get along.
At the end of the last episode, you see Rin living in the village where InuYasha and Kagome, and all other friends with families are living. So he trusts his brother with Rin's protection... It's not said, but if someone would attack Rin ... Inuyasha and his friends are there to protect her till he arrives. (That you can see in the manga only ... That the episode about 6months after Kagome came back and a Root - demon attacks the village... And of course Sesshomaru arrives)
So if he is willing to die to protect Rin... But let's her live with his brother and friends... So it's understood that he knows that she would be save with them and she has protection.
As a kid I didn’t even realize that this beautiful character development. At the time I was 6-10 so I watched it and it didn’t pick up on me because I was to young to understand character development. I’m literally begging my friends to watch this beautiful masterpiece with me. I will tie them up and bring them to my house if needed.

Well I think the reason Inuyasha barely does that with Kagome is because she has priestess powers and can protect herself vs Rins a child and is completely vulnerable so if she’s in danger it’s understandable that he just drops everything and runs to protect her

before, since rin is weak, he would've accepted her death as a "survival of the fittest" ideal. but rin is the one teaching him compassion, so that's why he's constantly going out of his way for her, and why he's been going out of his way for everyone *she* deems deserving of compassion (like kaguya, for example).

In my reply I was implying that I didn’t agree with this statement saying that Inuyasha doesn’t have to come to Kagomes aid every time because she’s able to defend herself and Sesshomaru always comes to rins aid because she’s a child and can’t defend herself. She travelled with Sesshomaru for less than a year, and then he left her with Kaede so she could learn how to live with humans and choose what she wanted to do when she came of age. Rin always had her agency, and Sesshomaru made that explicitly clear multiple times throughout the series. It was always by her choice that she stayed with him. Have you watched/read the series in it’s entirety?

I think there’ll be more than just this one season of Yashahime, I mean, Inuyasha went on for 8 seasons! Sailor Moon Crystal had a few seasons, and that was just telling the same Sailor Moon story that we already know so I definitely think there’s room to have more!

Sesshomaru is totally the best character and his love for Rin was so warming. I love Rin too, she is such a lovable character.
An interesting note about Sesshoumaru’s second fight with the monks: At first when the main monk blasts him with that big spiritual attack he reaches for Tōkijin, presumably to kill them. But then he hesitates and sees that Rin is watching. Only then does he release his sword and decide to just flex on the monks without actually killing them, presumably because he didn’t want Rin to witness him killing humans that for all intents and purposes were just trying to help.
In my opinion, Sesshomaru treated Rin as a precious companion and not as a child. And in this new series, Rin got older and to all those who questions the age gap......bruh he's a yokai that means if his children are half-demon, the mother is most probably gotta be younger than him and i dont really see why some are so adamant about measuring yokai age in human standards.

Most of the time you can see Rin getting left on her own. Gakken and the dragon pet was just there to guard her.

I also love the fact that Inuyasha could've killed Sesshomaru back then but Tenseiga protected him and he "randomly" teleported to where Rin is (or where she could see him eventually) at that time. I can't help but think that the Tenseiga chose that area so that he could meet Rin. Maybe something that Sesshomaru's father "pre-programmed" in Tenseiga before giving it to him. I mean, there are lots of times when Tenseiga acts on its own to guide/protect Sesshomaru so, maybe it was really Inu no Taisho's doing behind the scenes... Idk 😂😂

Um the villagers used to beat Rin up and chase her out the village and she stumbled upon Sesshomaru in the forest after they chased her away how would his father know which direction they would chase her in? and Sesshomaru only protects her because he feels bad about seeing what the villagers (not just kids but adults too) were doing to her and then she gets mauled to death by Koga’s wolves, it was truly sad to see a sweet child suffer so much with seemingly no one to protect her and showed he wasn’t as cold as he lets on, not because he was destined to be in love with her WTF and the original writer of the series has gone ON RECORD to say that Rin and Sesshomaru have a father/daughter relationship WHY are you fantasizing about a 10 year old child with a 600+ year old ancient being? cartoon or not that’s freaking weird and gross. They waited for Kagome to turn 18 and come back to be with Inuyasha in the original so no it’s not “the times”. The original writer did not intend for Rin and Sesshomaru to be romantic in any way. And Rin liked Kohaku.

The mother for Towa and Setsuna is more than likely Rin however we will get a definite answer once Yashahime is released (hopefully within the first few episodes.) I'd honestly be surprised if it was anyone else but we shall see!
The possibility of a romantic relationship between them sparks a huge controversy in the community, majority from Western viewers. To me Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship in the anime/manga never came off as father-daughter/older brother-younger sister although neither did it give any sign of it being romantic. You had these two characters who formed an unlikely bond built literally around them saving one another in their own way. It is just so simplistic and pure; there is no expectations set from either side about what should or shouldn't be, what they are or are not. They accept each other for who and what they are which is what helps them grow, learn, and bring out the best in each other. It is purely platonic and its honestly what I love so much about it.
Rin stayed with him and Jaken for about a year before going to live with Kaede in the village once Naraku was defeated. During the time she accompanied the two for the most part she was self-sufficient when it came to taking care of herself. Sesshomaru's role throughout that time was pretty much just protecting her and when she got kidnapped coming to the rescue. Jaken would go with her to keep an eye out while she was looking for food or stay with her to keep her safe whenever crazy shit went down. Actions that showed he definitely cares greatly about Rin, clearly has her best interest at heart but nothing that ever insinuated he saw her in any way that was philial or nonplatonic.
I wouldn't be devastated if Rin wasn't the mother of the twins but if it is officially confirmed I am all for it. Fans who are focusing too heavily on this just need to have faith in Rumiko Takashi and the team working behind Yashahime.
Yeah I agree! He also brings Rin gifts like kimono really pretty kimono. Sesshomatu wanted Rin to live and grow up in a village until she grew up. That's what I think. Yes all signs are pointing to Rin at this point but still don't know for sure. Either way I love Setsuna and Towa already so I can't wait until the show premiers! :)

Thank you! I've been saying that for years! As you said, Sesshomaru's and Rin's relationship is completely undefined and can grow in many ways. Saying they had a clear father daughter relationship is just not true. They actually travelled together for well less than a year and then Kaede raised Rin. I admit that their relationship could have grown into a father daughter or into a romantic relationship years later. Both are likely and I for one prefer them becoming a couple.
Just the idea of the very sweet little human Rin, with no powers or fighting skills, taming the heart and soul of the most powerful and badass characters in the show, is just a great story in it self. It shows we don't need to be powerful in the traditional sense to end up a truly powerful character through love and compassion.
If you've ever seen the anime movie "Hotarubi no Mori e", you will see somewhat of a parallel between Hotaru and Gin's relationship and Sesshomaru and Rin. Like Rin, Hotaru meets Gin (a non-human supernatural being) when she gets lost in a forest when she is a little child (6) and they form a close bond. Every summer as Hotaru grows into a woman, they begin developing romantic feelings for each other. Their relationship is how I see SessRin.

For who believes that Kagura will be brought back to life, it is impossible now as the author, Rumiko herself considered her long dead and thought her death scene was overplayed, (Source: Inuyasha Wide).
And to those who believes that Kagura and Sesshomaru has a thing, the author and the seiyuu already cleared this, Rumiko plans Kagura to have an ' unrequited love ' and Ken Narita (Sessho's VA) said Sesshomaru only felt compassion for her. Also Rumiko said that, Sesshomaru only 'appeared' to be angry about her death because of classic shonen plot/vibe, and it is easier to pull it off on Sesshomaru. (Source: Yashahime Gallery).

Kagura wanted to be free from Naraku- in death she got her freedom. Her main goal in life was to be as free as the wind, not to be tied down to another man no matter how much she loved him.
I really hope Rin is thw mother. The mother has to be human for the twins to be half demons. I can't see another human filling that spot other than Rin.

Same I never saw them a father daughter or brother sister relationship. It would be great if that was the case considering the time frame. People tend to forget that this was quite normal back then. And he'd help her if something threatened her.She found her own food and stuff.Also,Kaedeh told him she should spend time with humans so he left her in the village,only going back time to time to bring clothes,ect.So you can't really say he "babysat" her.

No Kagura didn't have any chance, the relationship with Rin was locked in and heavily heavily foreshadowed throughout the whole series.

What I especially like about their relationship is that he is one of the strongest yokai and he has this incredible connection with one of the most simplest humans he could have found. There is nothing particular special about Rin, she is a peasant, an orphan, is not especially beautiful, and has no special power. She has an enormous heart, is brave and caring, and that was enough. It was everything he lacked and that made him more powerful. It is actually incredible. He goes from hating all humans and his mid-blood brother to being a total different person after her and has a goal and stopped being aimless and becoming more powerful because of her. Rin and Kagome were always my favourite characters. It was only natural that he could only love her. They never behaved as father/daughter. It was always an exchange of equals which it says a lot about how important is her existence to him, a Yokai. Him leaving her in Kaede’s village foresees their development. He will always give her the choice, and she will always choose forever with him, which probably it is why he loves her. Even if it means trouble. He has and will live thousands of years. She will only be a glimpse in his life, and become the center of it. The name of their daughters Towa and Setsuna, represents this duality, “moment and eternity”. Really perfect writing.
I loved Rin the moment she appeared on screen but when she gave Sesshomaru that toothless smile...😢 she became my favorite.
Can I also add that her sass with Jaken is something I LOVED in the show! 😂😂😂 Something about little Rin talking down to him is hilarious to me, especially because they have this almost rival relationship with each other. Its like they're competing for Sesshomaru's attention and approval sometimes which is so cute and funny! 😂😂😂
Point is, when I watched Inuyasha it got to the point where I literally wanted every single episode to feature team Sesshomaru (Sesshomaru, Rin, and Jaken). Rin is just the best and Sesshomaru became the best and Jaken just adds the best...together they just make the best team in the show and all anime and no one can convince me otherwise.
another example would be when Rin fell from the cliff after getting the medicine for Jaken, he swoops in out of nowhere and saves her

I dont really understand those who argue that SessRin is a father-daughter image and shouldnt been married and have kids. SESSHOMARU WAS NEVER BEEN A FATHER TO RIN!!! RIN NEVER EVEN LOOK AT SESSHOMARU AS A FATHER FIGURE! He even let her live in the human village where she grew up as an adult and patiently waited for her. If Yashahime won't have enough screentime for their lovestory, then I believe they deserve an OVA for that.
Absolutely. Even the one who was a father to Rin could be Jaken, because he did take care of her as one. I thought it was good that Sesshomaru left her in the village with Kaede so that when he returned, Rin already had more mature fellings, it was a rather long "test", where she barely saw him according to the author. I hope that Sunrise or the people who work at Yashahime bring us their love story, how then those feelings of LOVE came up from both of them in an OVA.
I don't know...I don't feel a reluctant feeling about accepting a romantic relationship between Sesshomaru and Rin. He always gave her the choice to be with him or not. And the drama CD shows his true feelings, but also respects any decision coming from her...I don't get the grooming stuff some people bring up and their relationship was never a father-daughter type.

I think people forget that Rumiko Takahashi says that, if human, Sesshomaru would be 19. Rin is about 9-10 ish...
Sesshomaru ages very slowly, but even if he did age, A 10 year age gap doesn't make him a father figure...and as couples go, a 10-ish year age wasn't uncommon back then...even now ( when legal)...
It's not child grooming if given the fact that he ages much much slower than humans do, It would take only a few years before Rin would be in his biological age gap and feelings could form...
But, I think the anime +voices make him seem much older...like mid twenties...

So I was very curious if Rin being the mother of the twins would be morally appropriate and possible so I went and did some minuscule research and some basic math for the timeline. By the time the twin girls were 14, Rin would be 31 years old because she was 11 years old at the end of the series Final Act. 20 years after the final act, the twins are 14. Then I subtracted Rin's age at that time (31) from the current age of the twins (14) and she would have been 17 years old when the twins were born. I'm not saying she IS the mother but if she were, she was definitely not "adult age" according to our moral standards but back in that time period, she would be be considered "of marriageable age". So say she did marry Sesshy maybe around age 16 which might I remind you was considered "of age" to be married back then. It would make sense and be very possible. I can only hope the marriage came first. But who knows?

I am so stoked for Yashahime tomorrow! I started watching Inuyasha the night it first aired on American television when I was 9 years old. I just want to say that, as a child, I NEVER thought of Sesshomaru and Rin as father/daughter. I just saw them as close companions. As I grew up with the show, I started to love the idea of Sesshomaru and Rin ending up together when Rin was OLDER, not a child. I wrote sooo many fanficitons about them and drew tons of fan art. I still remember when the drama cd was released and I was so happy it included a recording of Sesshomaru basically proposing to Rin. Now we should hopefully have confirmation that Sesshomaru and Rin did end up together! It was never “creepy” or strange t me, even as a kid. I knew Rin would grow up and they would fall in love. I just cannot see Sesshomaru ever becoming that close to any other human. I’m shocked people in the Inuyasha fandom would prefer that. I would be devastated lol. I think another reason their relationship is normal for me was because I watched “The Thorn Birds.” The protagonists fall in love in a very similar way.

Exactly! I also wrote fanfictions though they were more of short stories but only from Rin's perspective during her stay with Kaede. I never thought of their relationship as creepy either even when I was a child as all I saw was a kid following a demon lord who became one of his companions. First of all, I never saw them as a potential couple when watching the show, because Rin was still a KID. It’s only when I saw fan art of them as adults that I started seeing the potential. And then the sequel came and I saw all these hints of Rin being the mom. Look, if they don’t like it, that’s completely fine. But it doesn’t change that fact that some of them are falsely accusing people of encouraging pedophilia for liking this couple. Saying things like, “you don’t see the potential in their characters. All you see is a sad girl who needs a big bad demon guy to lift her spirits enough for her to fall for him and for him to empragnate her and fulfill your gross fantasies when she gets old enough” What does that even mean? That I think they have no opportunity for character growth because I like their couple?? Sure. Because that makes sense.

He didn’t spend that much time with her or got to know her all that much. He wanted her to stay with Kaede when she was still a kid so she could properly be a free person since traveling with him was obviously too dangerous. He's become like his father in the strangest ways" The only comparison you can draw here is Sesshomaru/Rin's relationship vs Toga/Izayoi's, another youkai/human romance. That is a huge foreshadowing.

I honestly never saw a father/daughter relationship between Sess and Rin. I always thought theirs is a relationship that is unconditional and I could never quite place it-could never put a name as to what kind of love. Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship is absolutely the reason why I realized that RT is a magnificent storyteller.
How can she make me feel a form of love that is hard to name?
I knew that there's romantic love between Kagome and Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku; a familial love with the Higurashis, Sango and Kohaku; Philia between Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, and Sango.
But what about Sesshoumaru and Rin? I had a hard time describing the kind of love between them. Lyk, y'know, the fact that Sessh respects Rin's autonomy amd doesn't treat her like a child but almost an equal??? And Rin's loyalty and trust to a great demon???
If Rin's not the mother of the twins, that's fine with me. Only if they are going to introduce someone (with justification) who Sesshoumaru loves more than Rin because it would be too sad for the mother if clearly, Sessh cares for Rin more than her. It would also be too out character for Sessh if he banged just anyone lmao. Let's not throw his character development because it's one of the best aspect of the series.

I think Rin and Sesshomarus relationship would look less like grooming if it was shown from a view point that he simply saved her as a girl and then left her in the village with kaede to grow up and if they can successfully show their relationship beginnings it would be an easier pill to swallow. I could say many things about this relationship, write a book for sure, but just small comment, that appeared fresh in my mind while listening to that video. I like and it stand outs to me, that little moment when Rin was running away from wolves. She didn't know Sesshoumaru that well, he wasn't talkative and was distancing himself from her. He never protected her before. But she was running while looking for him, searching INSTINCTIVELY for his protection. And she somehow KNEW that even badly wounded, Sesshoumaru would take out those wolves no problem and that no doubt, he will. Make of that what you want...

I think another reason that Sesshomaru doesn't attack the monks is because somewhere inside he was probably hesitant to violently kill a group of humans in front of Rin. She's never really looked at him with fear, but that might have changed had he chosen to kill the monks.

Sesshomaru can control his emotions better than Inuyasha, but the way Sesshomaru also touched Rin on her face seemed somewhat more romantic than a father-daughter love or friendship love, too.

I don't know how I missed this video but now that I found it , it was amazing. You totally get their relationship. Rin was not groomed but cherished and given every opportunity to live with her own kind or stay with Sesshomaru. He always gave her a choice, I am so glad you saw that. It is a love story that is not as strange in Japanese lore as it would be in our western stories. Rin is valued above all things to Sesshomaru even at a young age. That is why he gave her the choice to return to him. When she was matured. I love their story so much, to me it is a wholesome look into the heart of an all powerful demon male who could have anyone and chose a simple human girl with a pure soul.

I think things like flight and transformation are more full demon abilities. The only (natural) half demons we've seen are jinenji and inuyasha and for the most part they are very plain. Their actual demon abilities are kind of limited. I could be wrong though! We will see :)

The thing that really sells Sesshoumaru's and Rin's relationship is that there is no unnecessary stress, tension or dysfunction. It is just respect and underlying sense of compassion that is present between them. For that reason, I do enjoy the bond that they have and I do wish that there could have been a spin-off show involving them.
This is completely opposite to Inuyasha and Kagome where they would develop feelings but then go back to their old bickering, squabbling, and grumbling ways with Kagome "sitting" Inuyasha for little to no reason at all. Hence, InuKag has always been my biggest NOTP of all time.
In order to give Rin the family she has always wanted, I would let Inuyasha dump Kagome once and for all, let him join with Sesshoumaru to be Dad Number Two to Rin because Sesshoumaru is already Dad Number One to her and have Ayame be happily wed to both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha as Rin's mother. Just toss in Dai, Roku, Kai, Shiori, and Shinta, and they will be Rin's siblings with Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha being her little sisters. And there you have it, Rin's happy family complete with two strong dads, one brave mom, three older brothers, one younger sister, and one younger brother and a whole lot of synergy.
