    Arrrgh damn it I was supposed to include my Patreons' names in the credit scenes to this video but I forgot :( So anyway here's a HUGE SHOUTOUT to all of my patreons : Nick Satoria, Edrenn, Brian Curry, Theo Ionescu, Jonas Wigertson, Greg Barnum, Phillip Cowperthwaite, Pantheon Percussion, Chris Samouce. Your support means so much to me and it's been great conversing with you guys and hearing all your feedback, I hope to give back to you more in the future!

    How does Matt come up with these kick drum placements ? Mind bogglingly amazing. This is totally doable now. No way I could have learned this without you. Thanks again.

      Matt works really closely with the guitars, most of Periphery's music has him trying to play everything the rhythm guitar plays with his feet which can get pretty insane :O And congrats on achieving this, it's no easy feat.

    These videos are so good. Periphery is my favourite band and im so stoked that your actually breaking down all the intricacies of their songs. Keep it up man. I'll be watching, and learning. Verse 2 is one section I've never been able to teach myself. This is coming from someone who doesn't have a drum kit. 😂 Anything is possible am I right?

      Periphery is my current favourite band too! Thank you for watching my stuff Spartan God and there'll definitely be a lot more Periphery on my channel. WHAO if you can do this without a drum kit, my hat and socks and shoes are all off to you Sir but yes I believe anything is possible :)

      Oh, great work detective haha, yeah it's one of the most common surnames in Romania, and aye, totally not striking that you've never dealt with Romanians

    Cant wait to start practicing this stuff! :) You are really good at making difficult parts accessible for everyone. Thats a really good quality for a teacher! I was wondering if you're a fan of Chon? Had been so cool to see a video or two by them on your channel, some of the drum parts are really fun to play and very interesting rhythmically. I would love to see your approach, and how you would break em down!

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому +1

      Hey yeah, the drum parts on CHON are pretty awesome and I was contemplating on a future CHON lesson but right now I only take specific video requests from my Patreons as a special reward to them but who knows, you might see a CHON lesson on my channel in 2018. And thanks Jonas for your kind compliments, I think I owe what I can do as a teacher to having been a teacher for 10 years now and I do enjoy teaching as much as playing :)

    Hey Wei Lung! What studio monitors do you use? Would you recommend them?

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому +1

      Hey I use the Yamaha HS5. I got them because I wanted something affordable and that gives me an accurate representation of what others with ordinary speakers or headphones would hear. I strongly recommend them because they've done a good job for me :)

    • @NathanKwon818
      @NathanKwon818 6 років тому

      Thakn you so much! That helps :) I've been searching hte market for some good monitors. Love your drumming!! Always so in-depth.

    I work it also... and i love this song. Realy good job! The second part is a real chalenge to me. Your snare is awesome ! what is your tune on TD30 ?

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      That second part took me about 20 tries to nail in a complete take for this video so I feel you. Anyway I'm using the 158 Stainless Steel snare on the TD30, with doughnutS2 muffling and inside 1 micing selected. But the sound of the snare also went through a compressor and reverb using the EZMix plug-in. Thanks for watching my video Vincent!

    0:48 I can feel the concentration and the difficulty of playing the right foot while having a clean left foot. I don't know if it does that to you too most of the time i have to incline myself forward to make easier... oh and great video again btw ! Do you find all the pattern ( like the 6 6 4 thing ) etc by ear or do you find them on the internet ?

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому +1

      Yes I sometimes lean forward subconsciously when there's a lot of footwork however I understand that's not actually good for your posture and shoulders in the long run, a lot of aches suffered so I've been trying to maintain my posture centered over my throne as much as possible, you can see from the video too that I try to pull myself back. I did this by ear, all my videos in fact because I learn so much more if I dissect it myself and it helps me get better and better at listening, understanding and transcribing stuff . Also I believe I am the only resource on the internet that goes into such detail but correct me if I'm wrong and if you find something like this online!
      Anyway Thanks for your pledge Ninjaddict, your request is currently 2nd in line!

    • @Edrenn-live
      @Edrenn-live 6 років тому

      Yeah but i think it can a bit dangerous for the back if we stay during a long time in that weird position even if it makes the songs easier to play ...
      Oh it's very impressive you must spend a very long time on each song then ...
      In my opinion yes you're the only one that kind of complete explanation (maybe Troy Wright too but it was more on how to understand polyrhythms )

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому +1

      Yes agreed, so let's protect our backs so we can drum longer and happier. Some songs I spend a lot of time especially the Animals as Leaders stuff, but some come to me quickly because I've had experience with the pattern or polyrhythm, or all the countless transcriptions that I did have helped me transcribe and listen and understand more quickly.
      Troy's an amazing drummer and teacher, I started watching his stuff before starting my own tutorial videos.
