Incredible Marc. Better than a factory finish, especially when you look at the care you take, i.e., seam welding vice spot welding, for added durability and rigidity. You're a legend pal!
One trick I use other than a welding blanket is keeping a couple of welding aprons handy … one to wear and one to cover any entry’s to the interior or to cover glass etc 😊
I found this series today and have watched all the episodes. I have a 1963 Amazon, so this is fascinating; I’m looking forward to the next instalment. Alan
@@SimpsonsClassics You mentioned in one of the earlier episodes that you couldn't identify the wire that passes through the steering column. That is for the horn; leave it in place for the time being because it is really difficult to thread up from the bottom if you remove it. If you need any more information about how things go together I'm happy to use my Amazon as a reference and send you photos or a description. Good fortune with the rebuild. Alan
@@alanothen3962 hey thank you yes I later found out that’s what it’s for I don’t plan to remove this but it made sense more when I had a look through the manual cheers 👍
Great to see this I'm on my second restoration on one of these. I have a 1965 estate going through the process. I can't see in the video but between the chassis rail and the tunnel sometimes there is a missing panel especially with the older ones that can start cracking, would be a much easier job with the engine out 😂
Oh cool sounds like you know your way round these. I am still learning with this one. I know where you mean I think someone else has mentioned this. Mine is in great shape so no worries there thankfully
For all that sound deadening does a fantastic job, it is a complete ball ache to remove! This car really shows how good Volvo build quality was back in the day when you consider this car has never been restored previously and yet it's still so solid.......an Austin 1100 would be in a dust pan 🤣
Couldn't agree more! Volvos are so well built they really are it still blows my mind how good this shell is compared to most minis seen on the channel aha
👍 miss my old Volvo Amazon 122s tho bought 20 years ago and sadly written off when someone reversed into it . But it did get my first Vw beetle . Built like a tank and great Dailey
Second side is always easier huh? just gives you more confidence to get stuck in. :D cracking work as usual ;) joined patreon to show our support! keep up the progress man! :D

Thanks Darren. I love working on this car and just want it to be nice when it’s done but a usable car. Cheers for watching
Love watching the mini’s but good to see some more of the Amazon too!
Oh I wish I could bring you more on this one buddy, there is a video coming out this week on this car so stay tuned.

Great idea I have done this in the past when I was in a tight little garage 👍

That inner wing looks so clean compared with the rusty one. 😍 😍
I know can’t wait to get them both sorted
Excellent work - enjoying this series
Cheers Ian glad your enjoying it 👍
Marc those Volvos are really built! (Even the fully rusted bits are stronger than any other car ha ha!) 🤣😂
Haha so dam true!
Love these Volvos, I had one fifty years ago. They handle much better if they’re not on bald crossplies!
Oh so nice to hear another fan of these cars. Yes many people have told me keep
It standard but swap the tires to something nicer and modern
wow, difference before and after great job Marc
Cheers thanks buddy

You’re doing a great job there fella! It looks quite a satisfying and too complex shell to work on! Can’t wait to see her on the road again
Thanks buddy I can’t wait to see this one on the road it’s literally a dream car of mine as mentioned 👍

Really should be using ear defenders / plugs using an angle grinder, you will damage your hearing... I did.
