Ben Gruenbaum Bidou was only recently discovered and we've yet to see results with it but most top smash 4 players agree there will inevitably be breakthroughs with it. The point is that the game is too new to make assumptions of what it will eventually become. Granted, I do think melee will always be faster due to L-cancelling and how much worse recovery tends to be in it, but Smash 4 I do think can potentially get as many or close to as many movement options as melee and from there the combos can be more refined and longer. Not much can be done about how easy grabbing ledge can be, but even then, a heavily optimized gimp game similar to smash 64 is also possible. I feel like the fact that right now there's so many arguments about Smash 4 being 3 stocks instead of 2 which was widely accepted a year ago shows that the game has sped itself up so far.
That's actually how it feels though I use to play smash 4 and still do but if you play melee more smash 4 does feel like it's in slow motion but I still love both games

It's interesting how similar the Smash and Halo communities are to one another. Smash64 = Halo CE. They're both kinda' clunky and quite outdated at this point. Everyone in the communities respects the originals, but they also don't get nearly as much attention as the other games. Melee = Halo 2/Halo 3. The games are considered the peak of competitive gaming within the series. These games are arguably the best in the series. These games are also buggy, but those bugs are actually a big part of the meta. The elitists for these games are obnoxious and close-minded, but there are some respectful fans. Brawl = Halo Reach. Huge 180 change from the previous title, these games have very not-so-competitive features. These games are also often the favorites among the casuals. And while they have their problems, these games actually introduced a lot of new players into the series with their popularity. Smash4 = Halo 5. The most balanced games within the series. They're not as competitively-focused as Melee/Halo 2, but not as casual as Brawl/Reach. It's an amazing step in the right direction from its overly-casual predecessor. The community is alive and well.

The reason so many people can catch up to th best with bad characters is because the game is simply easy.
funnydude1562 tech is what makes a game fast, not the physics (i'm implying here), Smash 4 has no tech, while Brawl does. I'm pretty sure if Melee had Smash 4 physics, but kept it's tech skill and Smash 4 had Melee physics, but had it's "tech" skill, Melee would still be faster

As someone who plays any Smash Bros. casually in general (because competitive tends to be a killjoy for me), I have one complaint: Smash 4 rolls need to die.
Official Plyz smash 4 and brawl are very different, if you've played BRAWL (DOWNLOAD A ROM GET A DOLPHIN EMULATOR or whatever it takes even buy a copy if you have a Wii U because Wii Us are backwards compatible) and play through the game Trust me you'll get annoyed at how the game is, now why am I not telling you whats wrong with the game? because it's mostly a subjective thing I actually liked brawl because it was a good game for the time and smash 4 felt alot like brawl but improved
We've started a Super Smash Civil War. We are against are own people. Deciding which game is superior. Damn, no matter what fandom I go to, its always the same.
I'm just glad Melee is different from Sm4sh and that Sm4sh is different from Melee. They both appeal to different audiences who appreciate different games. However, for me, Project M is simply the best out of all of these.
+Nathan Thoren Project M had potential, but the developers of it went over board with jank mechanics and repetitive balance. They essentially made every character a rush down monster, like Fox, even Marth who was about juggles and spacing was basically turned into fox. And with characters whos move-sets were so bad they couldn't fix, they gave them weird ass mechanics. Bowsers stupid armor, Lucarios move canceling. They needed to take what was good about melee and balance each character, but they ruined it. Now some guy is making a Project M of sorts for smash 4 , BUT get this hes doing on the 3DS, which is stupid as all sin. Your making a game that can destroy any controller that's not a GameCube controller, and even then they wear out eventually., and put it on a Fragile handheld. But yea project m got carried away with its Janky mechanics and flow charty combo system.

I completely agree with you. When I play against my friends it is so easy to run all over them. However, when I play against PR players, they trounce all over me. I'm planning on getting into Melee full time eventually, and maybe Sm4sh as soon as I have some money.
Good satirical video. I adore every Super Smash Bros. game, but Smash 4 is my favorite. I feel like I am better at Smash 4 than all of the previous games because it's just the right speed for me. My brain works a little too slowly for me to pull of neat stuff in Melee, Brawl is a bit too slow (and the tripping... ;_;), and Smash 64 doesn't offer enough for me today. When I play Smash 4, everything just sorta "clicks," y'know? I know there are some Melee loyalists out there who don't like the other games, and that's fine, but please don't look down on others for something so petty.

64: Haven't played much of it, but it's nice. Melee: Also haven't played much, but it's also nice. Brawl: First Smash game I really got into. I still love Subspace Emissary. Smash 4: Really fun. This is probably the Smash game I played for the longest. Ultimate: My favorite. I play it every day. World of Light is pretty neat.
That's literally me too, expect that I never played Melee in my life. I loved playing every other Smash game (along with 64, which I only played for a short time), Brawl was the first Smash game I ever played, when I was in elementary school, and I STILL love Ultimate!

+PKsparkelZ N-no...? Smash 4 was actually only slightly slower than melee, faster than brawl, in terms of frame data. Though because of all the patches, we'd need another ghost over comparison to see if that still holds true.

i agree! melee was my first smash game, so memories there. brawl was still fun because i mained toon link and performed decent combos with dair that bounces and bair that goes fast. smash 4s version of tink is decent, but i prefer brawls version. and smash 4 is the smash i play competitively currently

+The 64th Shadow the circle pad is way worse then the control stick. I can dash dance really well with the control stick but not the circle pad.
Noah Baldwin Might be worse for you, but for me the C-Pad is super tight and responsive. The Analog Stick just has way too much travel for me.

Stillemere I think Smash 4 has the best balance overall
Honestly i've played sm4sh since since the day it came out. And I like Melee, Brawl, and Sm4sh all equally. They all have their pros and cons.
While I can appreciate Melee players, for there amazing combo's I just find it more limiting. may not be perfect, but I see and can play more characters on a more serious level, and they can do more then just a few things. Meanwhile Brawl had tripping...

Official Plyz smash 4 and brawl are very different, if you've played BRAWL (DOWNLOAD A ROM GET A DOLPHIN EMULATOR or whatever it takes even buy a copy if you have a Wii U because Wii Us are backwards compatible) and play through the game Trust me you'll get annoyed at how the game is, now why am I not telling you whats wrong with the game? because it's mostly a subjective thing I actually liked brawl because it was a good game for the time and smash 4 felt alot like brawl but improved

I'm just glad Melee is different from Sm4sh and that Sm4sh is different from Melee. They both appeal to different audiences who appreciate different games. However, for me, Project M is simply the best out of all of these.
+Nathan Thoren Project M had potential, but the developers of it went over board with jank mechanics and repetitive balance. They essentially made every character a rush down monster, like Fox, even Marth who was about juggles and spacing was basically turned into fox. And with characters whos move-sets were so bad they couldn't fix, they gave them weird ass mechanics. Bowsers stupid armor, Lucarios move canceling. They needed to take what was good about melee and balance each character, but they ruined it.
Now some guy is making a Project M of sorts for smash 4 , BUT get this hes doing on the 3DS, which is stupid as all sin. Your making a game that can destroy any controller that's not a GameCube controller, and even then they wear out eventually., and put it on a Fragile handheld.
But yea project m got carried away with its Janky mechanics and flow charty combo system.

I completely agree with you. When I play against my friends it is so easy to run all over them. However, when I play against PR players, they trounce all over me. I'm planning on getting into Melee full time eventually, and maybe Sm4sh as soon as I have some money.

I adore every Super Smash Bros. game, but Smash 4 is my favorite. I feel like I am better at Smash 4 than all of the previous games because it's just the right speed for me. My brain works a little too slowly for me to pull of neat stuff in Melee, Brawl is a bit too slow (and the tripping... ;_;), and Smash 64 doesn't offer enough for me today. When I play Smash 4, everything just sorta "clicks," y'know? I know there are some Melee loyalists out there who don't like the other games, and that's fine, but please don't look down on others for something so petty.

I loved playing every other Smash game (along with 64, which I only played for a short time), Brawl was the first Smash game I ever played, when I was in elementary school, and I STILL love Ultimate!

i agree! melee was my first smash game, so memories there. brawl was still fun because i mained toon link and performed decent combos with dair that bounces and bair that goes fast. smash 4s version of tink is decent, but i prefer brawls version. and smash 4 is the smash i play competitively currently
