- Find me at coffeetime.fre... The internals of this small footprint Heat Exchanger E61machine
Review Website coffeeequipmen... If you want to find me or generally get some help...I'm at this little forum, it's actually called Coffeetime www.tapatalk.c...
The screws are mechanically torqued at the factory to prevent loosening them because of vibrations during transport.
The top heating plate is a compromise between radiant top vent heating and maintaining efficiencies by reducing thermal losses through convection inside the cabinet.
Placing a loop in the steam line would create a trap that would accumulate a shot of condensate that would be injected in your milk on every use.
The vacuum relief valve is to prevent the steam tank from pulling fresh water in through the pump and completely filling the boiler vessel with water, leaving no headspace for steam. If this happened you would have to manually drain the tank from the bottom whilst opening the steam valve.
Well I only help design them...
The upper cover with holes is not for ventilation. Obviously, it is for water dripping from the glasses that were clean and are warming
After 20 years and being involved in the design of many machines, I may be wrong and you may be right. I will leave you to ponder that one ;-)
Hi Dave, thanks for the explanation. I've got an issue with the MaraX v2 (black font version) the water, heat and the power button are flashing constantly. The water tank is sitting well, the boiler is empty and the pump is not taking water. Any idea?
That connector is called an IEC inlet, or specifically, IEC 60320 C14.
It certainly is, or even a kettle plug in common parlance.
Please get your hands on Mara X that is coming next month. Really exciting to hear your opinion about their new technology and to proof just how low is its noise
I am expecting final production prototype by end of the month
@@DaveCorbey Fantastic! Can't wait to see your opinion on it.
They may not have ventilation holes in top, so liquids or droplets from cups don't accidentally spill on to the electrics below.
I assume that was the thinking.
Do you have any idea where to buy the thinner clear tubes? I think they're 3mm ID / 5mm OD. I ordered a silicone one online but its way too soft and flexible.
If you are talking about the high pressure tubing...then you don't want soft silicone, you need the harder high pressure PTFE type...ebay have them.
Did you ever get the chance to explain why there are two solenoid valves? I just got a Mara and was looking at adding the Luminaire Automatic Add-on Shot Timer, but it only works with a 120/220v group head solenoid. Do you know if this would work?
It's in my written review of Mara and in the internal tour vid I think. If I remember rightly the used to use one to vent the brew circuit so guage read zero after brewing
I don't think the automated shot timer would work as it probably needs a solenoid operated E61 group and not a lever one. Unless it is just a timer and doesn't stop the shot automatically. I would have thought wiring it to the brew switch would be better
@@DaveCorbey Thanks for the reply Dave! I will have to check out written review, I know I did when I first got my machine. It is just a timer and turns on and off when the solenoid is activated. Here is the link to it if you are able to check it out: prima-coffee.com/equipment/luminaire-coffee/shot-timer
It's mentioned in the follow-on video: ua-cam.com/video/511_89SWpwU/v-deo.html
Hello, I wanted to ask about the electricity, what are the details, in order to know if the available electricity is suitable for me?
I think they do Europe and USA, don't know about Japan?
After having this for a year would you recommend it? I’m interested in purchasing one I just want to make sure it’s reliable.
It's fine, but these have been superseded by the MaraX, a huge improvement. The one in the Video is pretty much as good as any standard HX machine.
@@DaveCorbey Hey Dave, I can get the PL62S much cheaper than the MaraX. Would you say it's worth spending extra for the X? Or would I be satisfied with the PL62S?
Hi Dave! Awesome video. Would the PID version be better? If so, how much better would it be? Many thanks!
Hi Dave great video, do you know any great links to repair these units? As mine has stopped flowing with water. I've replaced the pump as it was cheap to do, but don't think its a pump issue I could be wrong. I just need to know where to start, am gasping for an espresso 😂😀☕ Cheers hope you can guide me...
It could be limescale rather than a fault.
@@DaveCorbey Can I put limescale remover in the water tank? I had problems with the new pump, so I put the old one back on and got the water flowing out of the grouphead, but won't boil water. Also the pump stays on, am not sure how long to let it run for so I turn it off, as not to damage it futher. Also now that I have a spare pump, do these pumps need priming? Or to do anything special with them, as I can't get water to flow out of the pump. As its new I don't think its faulty, just user error I can't think what.
@@DaveCorbey also thanks for your reply👍😀☕
@@Zandebrew if for any reason it thinks the boiler needs filling the pump will run and the heating elements won't come on until the probe tip in the boiler touches water.
@@DaveCorbey That makes sense so how long should I let the pump do its thing for?
