I went to see Marco Mendoza live in Hull last November, his guitarist, Ivan Keller, used the Blackstar Dept 10 Dual Distortion pedal and it sounded great, he is an amazing guitarist too. Met the band before and after the gig, Ivan is a very down-to-earth and humble guy. Anyway, great review, and keep up the good work 👍🎸🎶
I have 4 HT100 heads. Although I don't care much for the clean sound the distortion sound may be the best factory distortion channel I've ever heard. ISP all the way to the right, top distortion channel without the voice 2 button pushed in with the gain at about 2 o'clock through a 4x12 V 30 loaded cab....... 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤯🤯🤯
That's what I'm talking about man 👌 the HT Dual was the heart of my board for years of studio sessions and gigs, and it never let me down. Turned a hot rod deluxe into a 3 channel monster. I snapped up one of these dept 10s a few months back and it's even better. They don't just have the sounds, they have the great feel that I feel is lacking in most distortion pedals.
Can something like this also be used to give a clean push to the crunch or distortion channel of a tube amp for that sharp metal tone like a tube screamer or the Boss SD?
U r the best Cameron Cooper. Not only r u a phenomenal guitarist (EVH), u r an honest salesman. Watching and listening 2 ur amazing skills over the years, I purchased an EVH replica (red/black and white striped series🎸 I just wish my EVH would stay in tune like urs does in all of ur videos🤟😉
Learn to set it up yourself. There are many videos on YT that show you how to set up a Floyd Rose, change strings, adjust the springs, & set the intonation, etc. If you learn to do that, and it's not rocket science, you can make it stay in tune. I go nuts with the FR sometimes, but because the set up is always right on, it holds tune great. All my buds freak out at how long I stay in tune with all the whammy work!
Surely you can figure out how to change the valve! I bet it is no trouble at all. I have a Blackstar HT5R MKIII head. The volume pot went screwy, and I had to replace it. It wasn't that hard at all. It was laid out quite well for an inexpensive tube amp. The first thing I do when I get any amp is upgrade the tubes, unless it has high quality tubes to begin with. Cheers mate!

So great to hear a guitar, on UA-cam, that’s actually in tune. I always feel like I have a head cold. That HB sounds uncontrollable. The Charvel has better note definition, but at that price…
