NEW Dark Shadows Back to the Present - Barnabas Goes Back to 1796
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 сер 2022
- After telling Julia the whole story about what happened the last days before he was chained in his coffin in 1796, Barnabas is able to transcend time and return to 1796.
The role of Vicki is now played by Carolyn Grove.
A classic example of the subtle skill of melodramatic soap entertainment by incredible skilled actors and actresses! Not over done…mixed with shakespearean style but rich in pathos…totally addictive to watch…Dark Shadows…was the best I have ever seen. Of course Jonathan Frid and…all… of the cast were superb and made it unique 😊 Thank you…for being…kind…to us 😉🧛🏻
Yes, indeed, what an absolutely wonderful job Jonathan Frid and his cast-mates did. I love the time-travel episodes. The whole show was just plain good. My thanks, to all of them.
Where can I buy episodes of dark shadows on video. Walmart doesn't carry them
They're like old friends.@@beverlywoade5348
Best soap series ever been on TV.
or ever will be. I love Barnabas - the first 'good vampire' Lifelong fascination with the genre.
Best television drama series ever; and for several reasons never be matched

Long live Dark Shadows 👑
VERY INTERESTING AND OUTSTANDING THILLER!!!
I enjoy these clips! Thank you.
26:12 - Nice little fib on the part of Barnabas. He just appeared out of thin air. That's one very cool thing about vampires. So is shapeshifting. 🐺🦇
so if he could turn into a bat why dint he leave the coffin long ago?
@@marilynwillett804 - Barnabas' father (Joshua) knew that a cross would render his son powerless -- unable to shapeshift or vanish -- so, Joshua ordered Ben Stokes to affix a cross to the inside of the lid of Barnabas' coffin. Although it wasn't presented on the show, Joshua might have even read some "binding" rites over his vampire son's coffin.
@@walterfechter8080that stayed true until 1970 Parallel Time when Will Loomis showed Barnabas the huge cross inside his coffin before chaining him in it for almost a month
Oh that's true.@@walterfechter8080
The Jonathan Frid rave was special because there wasn't much of a cinematic record of him on TV before or after Dark Shadows. Many actors got their starts on DS. Frid stepped away, and wasn't in many films afterwards. 😢
'you cant will yourself back into the past!' 'why not? this is dark shadows i can do what i want!' 'how will you get back?' 'the writers will bring me back!'
Julia always had to endure Barnabas and his obsessions with other women ...
Julia as well the truth to be told I hated her character but she was completely devoted
@@h.l.asolomonov7674 I loved her character ❤
The last time I watched this was 53 years ago, I was 9 and I'd run home from school, it was on at 3:30, I walked about a mile to school, nowadays they'd probably take buses.lol
Yes and are too overweight, we were all slim and active.
Yes. I remember hurrying home. But I lived two blocks from school. This was a popular series among many young and old. It was filled with handsome & beautiful cast members. Even though it had no rivals, there was another series which followed afterward called, "Strange Paradise." The story originated in the distant past unlike DS starting in the present. It didn't last nearly as long but perked my interest for a while till it was cancelled. Dark Shadows was a phenom!!!
Vampires who Time Travel on the next Al Calivechi Show.

Other than the strain of having to do entire episodes almost as if they were live, it had to be a blast for these actors to just get to be as hammy as possible!
I've always thought this 😂
Except some didn't get to do it (Frid and Parker in particular)
@@melodiefrances3898 I feel they both had their moments
I never thought Dark Shadows acting as "hammy." It was Shakespearean. Today's Actors are very "flat" by comparison. Actually, most of today's Actors CAN'T ACT or Over-Act!
@@FilPol-yu1es Well Frid straight-up WAS a Shakespearean actor and it shows. When I say "hammy" it's not a criticism....I love it! The writing and the show call for it.....the 4 soaps left don't really have too many Great parts
Not hammy at all. Frid din't think so either. He did his best and never thought it to be camp. IF he was dramatic I guess it was because he was used to acting on stage and not before a camera.
His obsession with Josette was cured
If I wear in barnabas place I wouldn't choose going back to the future I'd stay in the era where I belong
You could be right 👍 !
Yes.
Seems like he could have gone back and saved his mom too ...
My mom remembers this back when she was in high achool
Because I have never seen the series, I'm often left wondering what is going on. The children talk about a game they are playing, Quentin, and a room. What is going on with them?? Barnabas can time travel? I guess in soap operas like Dark Shadows, anything can happen! Jonathan Frid was a very good actor, and his Barnabas is so superior to the one Johnny Depp played in the movie. Yet, both are quite interesting characters!
~Janet in Canada (and, No, I have not seen the movie, either)
Quentin's ghost was haunting Collingwood, especially with the children. No one knows why at this point in time, but it is leading up to a BIG story 😊
@mastersadvocate
BC traveled in the past through the efforts of spirits from the past. Victoria Winters did so through a seance (of course, a spirit spoke through one of the attendees, Vickie being the one) The game the children play is contacting Quentin by entering a certain room in the west wing (a room Quentin once occupied in the 19th Century Collinwood) Many years afterward, the west wing became the forbidden wing, the area where the restless spirits of the family roamed.
Also, the series delved into some other strange themes and different topics. Wonderful for a good three years. But after a while it'd became ridiculous and the ratings fell. Lasted till 1971. That was also the year the movie based on the series hit the theaters. . . "House of Dark Shadows." One major difference: vampire Barnabas Collins was no longer presenting as the guilt-ridden bloodsucking night walker. He was truly in it to win it. I won't say anymore until after you see the movie. It's really, really good!!
I wish Carolyn Groves had been able to remain taking over for Alexandra and Betsy, she was very good.
Well this doesn't make sense vampires don't cast their reflection in the mirror because vampires are not supposed to have a soul.
6:43 How is Barnabas showing up in the mirror?
I believe he has been cured since Adam?
How many people remember a movie 🎬 journey to the center of the earth 🌎 Ben was in it with James mason / pat boon 😅
Barnabas; there is summer in Maine, why always taking your coat?
@marilynwillett
Because it's 18th Century cool!! They didn't have derbies yet.
Silver bullet? That's a werewolf not a vampire!!! It might've killed Quentin or Chris Jennings!
Actually a silver bullet can kill a vampire in Dark shadows
@@brandongary8234 Guess so!
A silver bullet can kill a vampire if shot directly in the heart.
@@gothicshadowstgg It can kill werewolves AND vampires in DARK SHADOWS...
@@brandongary8234 in popular culture outside of Dark Shadows, anything made of silver can kill werewolves and vampires. Well-known examples are: in the Wolfman, the title character is beaten to death by his father with a silver-headed wolf’s cane (like Barnabas’). In House of Frankenstein, the Wolfman was killed by a silver bullet fired by his gypsy girlfriend. In Curse of the Werewolf, the Wolfman was killed with a silver bullet fired by his uncle. In The Monster Squad, the Wolfman and Dracula’s Brides were killed by silver bullets fired from monster-loving teenagers
Their David looks like a Hippie
Geer Garson is great in this episode
This was the 2nd Vicky....boy she wasn't as good was she?
I liked Carolyn Groves and she was the 3rd Vicki. Betsy Dirkin was the 2nd. Alexandra was the best, but I thought Carolyn Groves did a good job.
@@gothicshadowstgg I missed these episodes. I never saw any other Vicky. Alexandra was the one and only.
¿ Another Vicky ????
For a couple of episodes they had another Carolyn, I din't like that either.
@@marilynwillett804 I think it was one episode with a substitute Carolyn. We can be thankful the top actors never had substitutes stand in for them
Barnaby Bones lives, is Buddy Edson in this story
