Too bad EA don´t do games anymore, they do services that can make them more money through DLC´s, loot boxes and other fun and exciting stuff. Two eagerly awaited SW games was in the pipeline but both got canceled and we got Battlefront instead. =(
Dragonstar No, there was just the trailer. RC came out around the time Lucasfarts started to ignore their fan base and produce games like Force Unleashed, which nobody asked for, over games that were wanted, like a Battlefront 3, or Jedi Knight series game. RC got dumped even though it had a really strong cult following amongst the fans.
I actually LIKE The Force Unleashed. (1st not 2nd. 2nd sucks in gameplay, but has a compelling story, so I tolerate it.) its one of my favorite Star Wars games. Empire At War would be another. Republic Commando obviously. and lastly would be KOTOR.
Dragonstar That’s fine, but Force Unleashed was a game that nobody asked for, and got a lot of mixed reviews. Whereas almost every fan of RC and Jedi Knight was begging for a sequel, and never got one, because Lucasfarts started money grabbing, which is also what forced KOTOR 2 to be rushed out before it was completed. Obsidian does good work, it’s not their fault the game wasn’t finished. RC got next to zip for advertising, the only reason I knew of it was because a demo for it came with KOTOR 2, which means that only fans of KOTOR were sure to see the game. Why so little advertising? Money, and no faith in the relatively new developers behind the game. The game did not sell well, not because it wasn’t well received, but because it wasn’t advertised like other titles. Just Lucasfarts shooting themselves in the foot again. Same goes for no Battlefront 3. All we have for that is Call Of Duty: Star Wars edition thanks to EA. Lucasfarts was crashing before Disney (Kathleen Kennedy) and EA got their hooks into it, those two just put the last nail in the coffin.
I was playing a simple game called Valley. It wasn't my first playthrough, so I had a feeling I knew basically what to expect. That's when I found the Slenderman easter egg, and was so startled and confused I had to stop playing for a moment.
#1 tip for clearing Falmer dungeons: The only strat you need is to crouch at all times and prioritize surprise bow shots. Falmer have the best hearing in the game so they don't need to see you to pick up on even the slightest noises (i.e. drawing a sword, casting any spell, e.t.c.) The porblemo with them is, while they don't need to see you most of the time, that's because they *can't* see you at all. So you can just sidle about in crouch mode practically anywhere you want and get away with the most outrageous bow shots time and again by standing in places where sighted creatures normally have the upper hand.
Oh yeah, the cradle. That was unexpected and horrifying, but so far in the game and well done I pushed myself through this. I think I have to play this again!
“Let’s just say it’s a good thing that Gordon Freeman is a silent protagonist..” Oh, Mike, clearly you haven’t watched Freeman’s Mind - just wait until Ross finally reaches Ravenholm.
Doesn’t the same exact thing happen in the newest Tomb Raider movie? Trapped in cave, coffin full of a disease, and that same disease turning people into zombies.
Giygas was scary, but honestly it was the Cave of Ages and The Past leading up to the final boss that scared me as a kid, specifically the music. There's no going back, no saving, you're a robot, every enemy is a nightmare and that goddamn creepy music. O_O
In the Dishonored 2 level _The Good Doctor_ ; Hypatia transforms into some kind of werewolf like feral human. I was definitely not expecting that to happen.
That scared the shit out of me. especially when I forgot the code and had to replay the whole sequence and I couldn’t kill her bc I was going for a no kill playthrough
Antonio Brother I'll one up your trivia. One of the first recognized female mathematicians was called Hypatia of Alexandria. And lemme tell ya, there's some hex to that name, considering what happened to her and Dr. Hypatia from D2.
+Billy Siravo jr. Well, here's a quote from wiki for ya: "During the Christian festival of Lent in March 415, the parabalani under the leadership of a lector named Peter raided Hypatia's carriage as she was travelling home.[84][34] They dragged her into a nearby church known as the "Caesareum",[84] where they stripped her naked and murdered her using ostraka,[84][85] which can either be translated as "roof tiles" or "oyster shells".[84] They tore her body into pieces[84] and dragged her mangled limbs through the town to a place called Cinarion, where they set them on fire.[84]"
Really? You didnt expect another horror level in a thief game? And the level is an asylum? Isnt it like... The tradition in thief games? What i didnt expect... Was the hospital, the horror house, the forest and the haunted hotel in vampire the masquerade bloodlines... Most of it is seduce that, sneak past that, fight this giant monster, solve that puzle, slaughter a bunch of humans that are almost completly harmless... But noooo. Lets make you shit your pants by making you walk arround the creepiest settings ever, against monsters that are either impossible to harm with any weapon or attack, teleport arround you, have minions chasing you while you figth them, etc...
kenan yenen well... In the game the ghosts can kill you with traps, poltergeist, settin you on fire, etc... While you cant do ANYTHING against them... Also, there are lots of creepy aparitions, and other stuff that you cant know if it can hurt you or not first time you play... Basically...
I actually liked frostflow lighthouse...mostly because all the chaurus eggs made me *rich.* poisonous invisibility potions? So valuable....so valuable.
If I remember correctly (it has been YEARS since I played in all fairness) you get several hundred chauros eggs. I was also going through dawnguard dlc at the time (against the vampires), so I was getting vampire ash on a regular basis. Vampire ash and chauros eggs produce and invisibility potion (that also has a stamina poison effect), which is valued at 40-60? (or I could use those lunar butterflies, if I caught enough) So yeah, to me, it was incredibly worthwhile.
To be fair, I was pretty low-level when I found the place. I hadn't encountered Chaurus or the Falmer before, so I had to listen to them making those horrible noises as I first investigated the scene without knowing what I was getting into. And then in the caves proper both Lydia and Barbas somehow managed to get separated from me. And then I encountered the giant Chaurus, which I think I recall killing me a few times. It was not a fun time.
Loved Republic Commando. Hopefully some day we'll get that next book and/or game with Sev being the original rebel soldier. A game with Kal Skirata and the null arcs, along with Bardan Jusik, Etain and Omega squad would be cool too, fighting the empire to make their way to freedom to have a secret place to call home.
Solsteim in Skyrim literally made my character leave till they were a "high enough level". So I'm surprised the Lighthouse was referenced bytes not the sea of slimy tentacles. But to each their own.
How about *all* the Scarecrow levels from Arkham Asylum? Especially the last one where Scarecrow decides to break the 4th wall and bypass Bruce entirely and fuck with the player directly! Fake game crash, script flip of the beginning cut scene, fake death and then you have to fight Scarecrow *twice* to get out of it! Forget the frightening visuals I thought my game was broken! Not cool!!!!
I actually thought that the Ghost Ship mission in Republic Commando was Star Wars zombies 😂 (RIP Republic Commando 2, RC will always be the the best Star Wars game IMO)
The Metroid series seems to have one of these in every game. Super Metroid had the wrecked ship, which seemed to be infested with ghosts. But more importantly, you couldn't use the save point because the power was off, and the nearest one was quite a ways away. To turn the power back on, you have to defeat Phantoon, who's basically the result of Lovecraft and Giger having a brainstorming session, and is pretty tough to boot if you're not prepared. Metroid Fusion had everything with the SA-X, but most notably the bit where you have no choice but to encounter her and run like hell, because the last time you were able to save was before a rather tough boss. Metroid Prime has a bit where you fight your way deeper and deeper into a Space Pirate lab, pass by a bunch of contained Metroids, and fight through the most difficult combat encounters up to that point. Then you get the thermal visor, which for some reason shuts down the power, and thus most of the lights and the barriers containing the Metroids. At that point you have to fight your way back out through the Space Pirates, but now with Metroids popping out at you, and it's also pitch black unless you make your eyes bleed with the thermal visor. Oh, and you also haven't saved since before you entered the lab. Because Metroid games like doing that. Metroid Prime 3 does something similar, except now the Metroids you release can phase through walls. So that's great. And Metroid Prime 2 just gets straight to the point and opens with you investing a Galactic Federation distress signal to find that, surprise!, they're all dead. Or at least they are until they start waking back up as zombies.
You just reminded me of so many good moments. Love the metroid series, ever since I played super metroid on release day on snes. Them were the days, that menu music was creepy enough lol
Thief 4 was just calling back to the Shalebridge Cradle from Thief: Deadly Shadows(aka Thief 3), also known as the only level in any game I've ever played that scares me to play in full daylight, and the only time ANY game has made my brother scream and required him to stop playing for five minutes to get his heart rate back under control. The atmosphere was INCREDIBLE. (Actually the whole game was incredible, Deadly Shadows is one of my favorite games, you should go play it. But Shalebridge is a left field nightmare.)
Hated the beginning of Ghost Ship. Just... The way that poor clone died... Eugh... Honestly, I found it so much easier when the Lizards properly turned up and those god damn robots were replaced by regular Droids. Even the Destroyers were better than those bloody suicide Static Droids...
It's like Delta squad never played Dead space. Come on an abandoned space ship? The star wars universe has a bunch of terrifying creatures that we don't know of it could be space zombies.
LOTR war in the north had a nice little brisk walk through a haunted cemetery. The entire game was probably a bit more horror than what they were going for.
Hoo-boy. The RAS Prosecutor. The worst thing about it was how scarce Ammo was - the only usable weapon was the ACP weapons, because you’ve run out of everything else.
Only people who played the game all the way through would know this. I played it on Hard on my last play through, and I can confirm this as 100% accurate.

Frostflow Lighthouse got me too. I was playing as my Redguard when I first came across it. At first I was expecting Bandits then I screamed when I saw Falmer at least my Redguard gave The Falmer what was coming to them.
Republic Commandos is so underrated. Was way above its time when it came out.

When i first heard them i thought herobrine was in my world. You know, 2010 times
@@luckylovescats same here bro xD
Ikr
*eerie noise intensifies*
We don’t talk about the cave sounds
Yeah...That Part of Star Wars: Republic Commando scared me too. I just hope Delta Squad won't try that again
Tarlo The Boar I could see it on the thumbnail, I didn’t know why it was there. That’s because my body repressed it, deep, really deep.
I'm a simple man, I see republic commando and I click.
IronEmperor same
Same
Indeed. Love that game. Hoping for a remaster at some point.
I'm betting Imperial Commando comes out before Half-Life 3.
What about Subnautica? Oh look at the lovely view! Guess I'll go exploring the crashed ship and...wait what was that sound...OH MY JES- [censored] ..................guess I'll go craft some new pants
A haircut that is intended to look at bit messy and wild and suddenly everybody gets excited xD
Well, to quote Ellen Rose, "I'ss good!"
I see republic commando I upvote
I see a comment about Republic Commando,
I upvote.
I see upvoting, I upvote.
Well that got meta fast.
VG Philosophy yes, yes it did.
*I'm a simple man*
I would also suggest the geth ship from Mass Effect 2 Overlord.....the tension was so thick that it was a relif when I start fighting
Mike, love the T-shirt. Jane, love the new hairstyle.
Also, thank you for making sure I will never sleep properly again.
Can we all agree we need a sequel to star wars republic commandos ?
Too bad EA don´t do games anymore, they do services that can make them more money through DLC´s, loot boxes and other fun and exciting stuff.
Two eagerly awaited SW games was in the pipeline but both got canceled and we got Battlefront instead. =(
Unfortunately it isnt canon anymore since disney took over. It is one of my top 5 of all time so it kills me knowing we wont get another.
TheYorkshireTom I know but it was so great when it came out
It was amazing, i would love more of it in any capacity. Even a remake/remaster. I miss it.
Rampaging Noob well the game is on steam so I find myself replaying it once a year
The shadow temple in Zelda ocarina of time was terrifying
Mention of Republic Commando in 2018?! Even if Imperial Commando is dead, at least Delta Squad is still in our thoughts!
True
wait Imperial Commando got released actually?
Dragonstar
No, there was just the trailer.
Dragonstar
That’s fine, but Force Unleashed was a game that nobody asked for, and got a lot of mixed reviews.
Republic commando was such a great game
Where the hell is half-life 3. Playing through 2 and it episodes and realizing there will never be 3 is unexpected horror
The true jumpscare was seeing my own comment in this video!
Love absolution too.
I was playing a simple game called Valley. It wasn't my first playthrough, so I had a feeling I knew basically what to expect. That's when I found the Slenderman easter egg, and was so startled and confused I had to stop playing for a moment.
There is a Slenderman easter egg in Valley ? Man, I HAVE to play that game again, now !
Valley looked so nice, innocent, and fun then got creepy as hell out of no where and got very serious.
#1 tip for clearing Falmer dungeons:
The only strat you need is to crouch at all times and prioritize surprise bow shots.
Falmer have the best hearing in the game so they don't need to see you to pick up on even the slightest noises (i.e. drawing a sword, casting any spell, e.t.c.)
The porblemo with them is, while they don't need to see you most of the time, that's because they *can't* see you at all. So you can just sidle about in crouch mode practically anywhere you want and get away with the most outrageous bow shots time and again by standing in places where sighted creatures normally have the upper hand.
Moira Asylum has got nothing on Robbing the Cradle from Thief 3. Anyone who played that game when it came out probably still has nightmares about it.
Myrmidon I only play the Cradle during the day now. Made that mistake the first time....
Question; Did you encounter the watchman while in the asylum?
I do
Ah, yes. Everyone's favorite combo.
Oh yeah, the cradle. That was unexpected and horrifying, but so far in the game and well done I pushed myself through this. I think I have to play this again!
Sure, Delta Squad did split up, but they still slaughtered a horde of lizard-men.
Michael Davis this is true
best line in it is when Boss goes i'm far more scarier than u to the lizard-men.
Michael Davis But they missed one. Mark.
“Let’s just say it’s a good thing that Gordon Freeman is a silent protagonist..”
Oh, Mike, clearly you haven’t watched Freeman’s Mind - just wait until Ross finally reaches Ravenholm.
Oh man that’s gonna be a treat
that Uncharted one really got me the first time I played
iilostboiii when I first played is turned of the tv and didn’t play it because I was afraid of the dark * I was playing at night
Lol ikr? I was also scared of it, I was young and wanting to play an adventure game! :(
Same 😂
Doesn’t the same exact thing happen in the newest Tomb Raider movie? Trapped in cave, coffin full of a disease, and that same disease turning people into zombies.
Me too... I still remember I couldn't get past that nazi base for weeks because I was just too fucking afraid encountering them
How about the end of Earthbound... Finish off your chippy aliens vs small-town-USA JRPG with some no punches pulled cosmic horror why not..
Andy Mcp giygas is spooky asf
To be fair the game gets creepier as you go along, so it's not just the ending that's creepy, it's just the creepiest bit.
Giygas was scary, but honestly it was the Cave of Ages and The Past leading up to the final boss that scared me as a kid, specifically the music. There's no going back, no saving, you're a robot, every enemy is a nightmare and that goddamn creepy music. O_O
It is 2018 now. No one pays attention to cosmic horrors anymore.
Andy Mcp A-GODDAMN-MEN!
That moment when you already have trust issues, added upon by the one Marine from Halo CE that tells you to follow him and then gets blown up.
RIP Cryo lab tech Thom Shephard. You will be missed
In the Dishonored 2 level _The Good Doctor_ ; Hypatia transforms into some kind of werewolf like feral human. I was definitely not expecting that to happen.
Sithu Aye has a song called hypatia, it has very nice guitar
That scared the shit out of me. especially when I forgot the code and had to replay the whole sequence and I couldn’t kill her bc I was going for a no kill playthrough
Antonio Brother I'll one up your trivia.
One of the first recognized female mathematicians was called Hypatia of Alexandria. And lemme tell ya, there's some hex to that name, considering what happened to her and Dr. Hypatia from D2.
I just picked up dishonored 2 and I didnt even know this could happen. No kill run ftw
While the video was really enjoyable, all I could focus on was Jane's awesome new hairstyle.
You include Moira in here but completely forget the Shalbridge Cradle from Thief 3? That was haunting horror at it's finest.
RIGHT?!
There would be no Moira Asylum without the Cradle.
Thief: Deadly Shadows. Shalebridge Cradle.
Ooo! Jane got her hair cut! Nice!
Ravenholm is literally my favorite gaming experience of all time. I want a full game of Ravenholm!
Yeeeeeesssss!
What s/he said!
what kind vampire afraid of ghosts .
kenan yenen well... In the game the ghosts can kill you with traps, poltergeist, settin you on fire, etc... While you cant do ANYTHING against them... Also, there are lots of creepy aparitions, and other stuff that you cant know if it can hurt you or not first time you play... Basically...
The velociraptor in the museum. I defy you to find anyone who didn't unload their clip into that thing.
I actually liked frostflow lighthouse...mostly because all the chaurus eggs made me *rich.* poisonous invisibility potions? So valuable....so valuable.
Yeah. I didn't come across it too much later in the game. It wasn't really scary at all.
(or I could use those lunar butterflies, if I caught enough)
So yeah, to me, it was incredibly worthwhile.
Dont forget the buff to healing spells you get, if you like handling semi-digested human heads
Chrona Trigger i got i think 800 before Jenassa and I were both at risk of being encombured
Something I like to do is whenever I find a unsettling area in a game, I act mildly annoyed.
Me: finds Nipton
Also me: o goddamnit.
Any Vault-Tec Vault except Vault 21. "Oh, crap ... what happened in here?"
I'm a simple man. I see RC 1138 in the thumbnail. I click
Brian Durio same
You click what? Tell us!!
Mike's face during that scream... that's why you guys are my favorite. :)
I came because I saw republic commandos in the thumbnail.
Same
Vode an!
The Orphanage room from Mila's otherwise upbeat level in Psychonauts was...deeply unsettling.
Solsteim in Skyrim literally made my character leave till they were a "high enough level".
So I'm surprised the Lighthouse was referenced bytes not the sea of slimy tentacles.
But to each their own.
how about the first Scarecrow level from Arkham Asylum? That was terrifiying
Not cool!!!!
thunderstudent agreed, my former self wasn't ready for such a thing
thunderstudent they took the PsychoMantis 4th wall break in MGS and juiced it up in Arkham. Really damn good.
Arkham is kinda a horror game though
That’s definitely big facts
I was about to stop commenting here because I never make SOTW.
But then Jane’s new haircut happened and here I am.
I actually thought that the Ghost Ship mission in Republic Commando was Star Wars zombies 😂 (RIP Republic Commando 2, RC will always be the the best Star Wars game IMO)
No, the freakiest thing about banshees is that they are pregnant.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat
Are you serious
Did you check? Maybe just reelly fat.
Pretty sure that's a beer belly.
hot
RC was released way before Dead Space
zombies vs full body clone armor = going to a nursery home and promising people the cure for old age is biting you if they pull their last tooth out
hairypancake I know. It's a joke
Dirpy Turtle read the project blackwing novel. Armour is no match for a horde of zombies, even in Star Wars ;)
The IT this is true but that CAP shot gun was pretty good though
William_BroBrine Yeah, but the AR was terrible.
Only people who played the game all the way through would know this. I played it on Hard on my last play through, and I can confirm this as 100% accurate.
Gauntlet knife. If you're running backwards, you can get in one or two good hits with your knife before they can hit you with theirs.
I dont know, the Pistol wasnt quite Halo CE magnum levels of good but it was alright
Does Lavender Town from the old Pokemon games count and the piano from Mario 64? asking for Ruby because she's scared of Jane
Sun would like his girlfriend back, Yang Xiao Long.
@Yang
Tell her to get over it!
She froze a dragon, she doesn't get to be scared anymore!!
That's what i said and she said to me she's more evil then Salem and hid under the bed with a bag of cookies, unless we force rubes to watch every video of Jane
Nothing wrong with Bumblebee. If only Sun would stop crying about it everything would be fine lol
Well monkey boi can challenge me to a basketball game even if he sucks at it
I remember playing Republic commando as a kid, that shit was terrifying. It all starts off with the drones, then the ambient music.
Then a random green dude jump scares the shit out of you.
Jane's haircut looks awesome
Jane if you stopped leaving soulless husks in the lake maybe just maybe, people wouldn't think it was haunted.
AJXSJS You
The first encounter with the SA-X in Metroid fusion. No thanks.
Yup. One hundred percent agree.
HOW DID I FORGET REPUBLIC COMMANDO?!?!? I would've suggested it had my brain not fried at the moment I needed it!!
I played HL2 as a kid and Revenholm was a traumatic experience.
Vaas Montenegro That... Actually explains a lot
I watch these videos for 2 reasons: games stuffs and the accents. Love you guys!
i remember 10 year old me being terrified of playing through ghost ship on SWRC
"The Cradle" level from Thief: Deadly Shadows is definitely high on my list. WAY worse than Moira's in the newest Thief.
Thief before the reboot was scarier overall imo
Even just the haunts from the first game are enough to say that
@@silverhand9965 You're absolutely right with that
Hahah I still have nightmares about The Cradle!
I've never played the older ones but fell in love with the concept of Thief with the new one. Worth it to go back and play the originals?
@@StudlyFudd13 it's absolutely worth it. They're better than the reboot imo
Jane, your new hairstyle looks great.
All Hail Jane's Majestic New Hairdo
Just love that Uncharted was the first time I saw a villain being practical when it comes to cursed treasures. Why bother with trinkets when you can have a weapon worth nations.
Halo 1 when u meet the flood for the first time
kevin Kelb was in the first video
JorgeFabrizio oh
We all make mistakes. I probably made 12 just driving home today.
Frostflow Lighthouse got me too. I was playing as my Redguard when I first came across it. At first I was expecting Bandits then I screamed when I saw Falmer at least my Redguard gave The Falmer what was coming to them.
