@@gustavoaffonso8942 Lol not sure if you are memeing or serious, but all these cards are far and away much, much too powerful too exist in any format that isn't vintage, and that is only because that is kinda the point of vintage as a format. And Mind Twist is the most powerful discard spell by a mile ever printed, it would be the best card in legacy by a wide, wide margin. Legacy would literally be just the Jar combo decks vs the U/B/X Mind Twist decks and that is it.
It honestly starts off *sorta* reasonable (mana drain and twist are... plausible, even if risky) but gets laid on a little thick by the time you get to academy
Yeah I was fooled until I saw Bazaar. I witnessed an Ichorid abuse the crap out of that land when I first started playing magic in 07/08. The opportunities for dredging and then putting the dredged cards BACK in the graveyard each turn is DIGUSTING!
@@AncientHydraGaming wait what? What does dredging mean? Sorry i have never really been that into magic, im trying to understand why bazaar and some other cards were so good
Goblin Recruiter, Mind Twist, and Earthcraft can probably all come off. Goblin Recruiter and Mind Twist don't do anything Swamp -> Dark Ritual -> Entomb -> Animate Dead don't do. Just grabbing Griselbrand allows you to draw your deck -> kill opponent because you drew 48 cards on turn one. In order to Goblin Recruiter into Goblin Ringleader turn 1, the fastest way is to go for Food Chain and using a 1-drop. That still involves getting 4 mana (3 for Food Chain and 1 for the starting creature) across 2 different colors. And you still need a 3-drop to bridge the gap between Recruiter and Ringleader, or even more mana acceleration. In other words, you need 4 cards to start (Recruiter, Ringleader, Food Chain, 1-drop) and then you still don't have the mana. And then you can still fumble the combo, like if your opponent counters the Ringleader. Now you have no cards in hand, no creatures, and the top of your deck is a bunch of goblins you can't cast. If your opponent counters Animate Dead or Entomb, no biggie: you're only down a Dark Ritual. Mind Twist is in a similar boat. Probably the best you can get away with is Swamp -> Dark Ritual -> Cabal Ritual -> Mind Twist. It's 3 cards to make your opponent discard 3 cards, and then you have to hope your top decks are better. Dredge is just going to laugh its ass off, especially when it gets to finish dumpstering you with Cabal Therapy. If you had just gone the reanimation route, you'd have one the game with a turn 1 Griselbrand or Elesh Norn or Blazing Archon. Earthcraft is an easy to setup, low-risk combo that curves out. But again...it's not really doing anything other established decks don't already do. Elves already does infinite bullshit and has more synergy within the deck. Squirrel's Nest is really "meh" on its own. 2 + 3 CMC combos are a dime-a-dozen. Painter is a more resilient, easy to setup combo that turns Red Elemental Blast and Pyroblast into strictly better Counterspell. Anywho, just my two cents.
i love how he acts like dredge and reanimator are just dominating the legacy format when talking about the cards that discard and then he gets to bazaar of baghdad

Had menon the first half, untill he mentioned tolaria academy and remember that the reason it got banned was because of the combo with it, voltaic key, mind over matter, time spiral, among other cards in order to draw your entire deck AND get enough mana to make your opponent draw 1 million cards from his deck by playing stroke of genius and targeting the opponent. You could potentially win on turn 1.

When you said that Necropotence thing I was genuinely upset for a second. Then the lightbulb came on, but you really sold it until Workshop, I was ready to fight for Necropotence over a 7 month old video!
I've been digging through your old videos. Had no idea about legacy cards except when you started talking about necropotence I was like "huh In all these other videos it seems broken" you got me
love all the cards in this video. I remembered when I first started playing during unlimited my friend played me with a deck with 4 sets of mox/lotus for mana source and 4 time walks. might not be legal but sure was fun to play. oh yeah cards were not worth $$$$$ back then so it wasn't that hard to trade for cards. until price guides came out and magic changed forever.
"Tolarian Academy won't even be good!" It's good with the moxes and artifact lands. It would not only see play but dominate in the Narset Timetwister Karn decks.
I know this is an April Fools vid, but there was some talk within the Legacy community to see if Mana Drain would actually contribute significantly to the format, seeing how relatively efficient the format is. Also, Mind Twist and Earthcraft were also discussed as cards that would probably be okay to unban.
Lol, some of the stuff actually does make some sense and I think probably the one unbannable card in this list might be Mind Twist. Tolarian Academy and Bazaar of Baghdad really sold the joke. those cards are BUSTED. hahaha
Memory Jar could be so broken, cheap mana to cheat it out quickly (mox diamond, lotus petal, dark ritual) or tinker it into play. Sac jar and use lions eye diamond plus more petals, rituals, mox diamonds for mana then yawgmoths will or another jar, keep getting mana and cards, get through entire deck and play Megrim so each hand of 7 discarded by them is 14 damage. oh wait, most of these cards are banned. Play chains of mephistopheles, anvil of bogarden and megrim in this type of combo deck and watch your opponents head explode
I’m glad someone else here knows why jar is doing life behind bars. This card is low key the least likely to come back and sad to say but that’s for really good reasons. This card doesn’t even need that much to become a problem, I wish I had it for izzet turns
Great video! Cant wait to play my workshops that my grandpa found in an old garage garbage bin! But seriously, Memory jar, mind‘s desire, goblin recruiter, yawgmoths bargain, zirda, frantic search could be unbanned today and nothing would change.
The problem with mishra's workshop is that it allows you to play the most degenerate artifact lockdown spells even more consistent. City of traitors, ancient tomb, and the workshop? No thanks. And the bazaar is just....dredge will be out of hand and it's gonna force the meta to play gy hate main board. Just like in vintage most decks do.
I think Earthcraft was banned because it’s a combo with squirrels nest and such. I still agree with your assessment though. It’s way less broken than like, alluren.
Nikachu talking about mind twist: this is gonna backfire you if you use it against dredge or reanimator. Nikachu talking about baazar: DRAW 2 DISCARD 3, THIS ISN’T EVEN PLAYABLE! WHY ON ESRTH WOULD YOU PLAY THIS?
I was doing some work with videos playing in the background as noise and tuned in just as he started describing why Necropotence should get unbanned and rewound the whole thing. I don't know much about legacy, so for a split second there I thought the power level of Legacy spiked beyond my comprehension. Favorite lines I think are "It doesn't even tap for mana" and "if it causes issues just unban stripmine."
As someone who hasn’t played MTG in a decade but who loves your content, I was quite confused watching this video. “Huh”, I thought. “A lot has changed!” But when you got to Necropotence I was like “hoooooold up, something isn’t right here” and went straight to the comments. You got me, sir.
On Library of Alexandria "Tempo loss" - How often do people play a fetch turn 1 and wait until their next turn to cast brainstorm + shuffle? No one is complaining about the loss of tempo there. Tolarian academy - Dude, this card can make 4+ mana on turn 1 off 0-mana rocks like opal and lotus petal, and mishra's bauble. you don't want this card unbanned. Did you just argue for necropotence off the banned list... ._. you know you can destroy your own necropotence after you draw a bunch of cards off of it. Force of vigor. stop itt... DO NOT ARGUE FOR MISHRA'S WORKSHOP!! You don't want legacy to become what vintage used to be. Vintage is vintage and legacy is legacy. Stop it before you hurt someone!!!
Necropotence was a sleeper, for ages it seemed like a bit of a weird card. Then people figured out the true power of it, a truly dangerous card indeed in the right decks.
3:40 Eathcraft into a bunch of Ornithopters and Memnites, Crimson Kobolds, Kobolds of Ker Keeps...err..Shield Sphreres...and uh... and boom, Beastmaster Ascension or something?
Lmaooo I lost it at the memory jar one. Great script dude, really funny. Especially skillful trolling in that the first few cards could actually have an argument.
I'm a complete noob to Magic, never played a game. But I've been watching a lot on it recently. I would get endlessly frustrated if I only drew lands, and I would get endlessly frustrated if I never had enough lands. I quite like Hearthstone and how you just get mana every turn regardless of what you draw. Is there a mode in Magic where you have a land deck and a separate everything else deck? And you draw one from each every turn? I feel like I would be much more likely to actually play the game instead of just lurk on UA-cam.
There was a combo deck in legacy that used bizarre o f Bagdad and won on turn 2. It's been a while since I saw it, but it dredges hard and then somehow got a 12/12 with infect and trample onto the field.

@@amberlee4536 yeah, it's kinda ridiculous but all magic formats only allow for certain types of strategies, and commander is the one where you aren't allowed to do things that stop people from playing their deck by making it so no one has cards in hand or things like destroying their lands. which is kind of understandable but at the same time it's not a co-op game it's one where you're trying to beat everyone. but no one cares what we think, they just wanna do what their deck was built to do, and i can understand why hullbreacher was annoying
I was like: Huh library getting unbanned? That's a bold statement. It's limited to 1 in vintage and sees play in some of the more fair vintage decks. But like maybe? Vintage has enough fast mana it can catch up. . .
Then I was like: mind twist is on the legacy ban list? Huh that one might be safe. . .
Then we got to mana drain and I was like: no one in there right mind would actually seriously suggest unbanning that monstrosity. . . Oh it's April 1st. And everything after that was just some variation of absolutely broken. He even mentioned nettle sentinel with Earth craft which is part of the reason it would be HILARIOUSLY busted in elves. Nice touch.
At this point, Library is softbanned in Vintage for being FAR too slow for these times.
@@Finngrinder It isn't as ubiquitous as it once was, but you still see it in a lot of the oath of druids and storm decks, as well as in some of the control decks and some of the more fringe decks like stand still.
wotc should unban all a those and ban every squirrel cards in legacy. so op
I mean earthcraft is already banned, and it's primarily a squirrel card
I know this is april fools, but counterspell occasionally is a 1-2 of fringe playable and the only deck i can think of that could consistently abuse the colorless is stone blade, even then im not impressed, also come to think of it, what decks could even abuse earthcraft that it would be bannable?
Worst case scenario you unban them and strategies emerge around them and they happen to be a bit too powerful and you just ban them again, best case scenario you have a larger card pool and it creates new and interesting strategies
i dont even play magic so i was convinced and do not know why the cards should actually be banned
I watched through the whole video paying very close attention and listened to everything he said. Thought he was absolutely freaking insane. And then I checked the comments and noticed when it was posted. Well done.
I love this video.
To be fair, Library is bad unless you're playing Lands.
I was almost convinced, then you started talking about Tolarian A and it hit the fan. However, only after this video I realized why I subscribed to you, even when I am not doing this normally. Like every channel has its own humor and style (basically taste differances), your channel on the other hand has not only great humor, but I think you are very charismatic person in general. Listening to you speaking about my favourite game is always great as you are always making a point (even if you are sometimes extreme) and I am always learning something new. Keep up with the good work, pandemic is the best time for content creators to get their audience so hopefully your channel will blow up. Till the next video :)
I was on board until bazaar then I was like... okay this is the april 1 video
When you said that Necropotence thing I was genuinely upset for a second. Then the lightbulb came on, but you really sold it until Workshop, I was ready to fight for Necropotence over a 7 month old video!
It took me until tolarian academy and necropotence to realize it's April 1st lmao
I've been digging through your old videos. Had no idea about legacy cards except when you started talking about necropotence I was like "huh In all these other videos it seems broken" you got me
When this is in my recommended list on April 16th and I think Nikachu's taco went all floppy.
love all the cards in this video.
I thought Nikachu is going insane until I look at the date
I viewed and listened to this video as a grandpa video.
Loved the video. Most of it was actually kind of convincing which clearly shows how crap at Legacy I am
"Tolarian Academy won't even be good!" It's good with the moxes and artifact lands. It would not only see play but dominate in the Narset Timetwister Karn decks.
Here in Italy we had a little tournament named "unlimited power" where we removed some cards from the banned list, and it was fun!
Shahrazad should be unbanned in all formats, print it in a standard legal set so it’s in every format even.
squirrel nest earth carft in a blue green shell to cover the combo
I know this is an April Fools vid, but there was some talk within the Legacy community to see if Mana Drain would actually contribute significantly to the format, seeing how relatively efficient the format is.
Also, Mind Twist and Earthcraft were also discussed as cards that would probably be okay to unban.
Lol, some of the stuff actually does make some sense and I think probably the one unbannable card in this list might be Mind Twist.
Tolarian Academy and Bazaar of Baghdad really sold the joke.
those cards are BUSTED.
hahaha
You had me goin until you got to Bazaar. Then I got suspicious. Then I realized what day it was. -_-
Ya, got to Tolarian Academy and raised a sharp eyebrow at that one. Then Necropotence and I literally said out loud in a heavy sarcastic tone "OK..."
Im watching this almost 3 weeks later and was about to lose my shit. Then I saw the upload date. Well played.
RARE Mind Twist is banned
COMMON Hymm to Tourach: "Am I a Joke to you?"
I was so confused when watching this but then I looked at the upload date. Well played...
Necropotence in an elf life gain deck could be a play
WHY ON ESRTH WOULD YOU PLAY THIS?
bazaar would allow dredge to combo out on turn 3 almost every time constantly turn 4
This is the April fools that keeps giving all year round.
Pfft. Historic is the new Legacy. Bring 👏all👏 those👏 to 👏US 👏
Because that "format" will be a total joke 😿
When you got to tolarian academy I became a bit suspicious but boy did workshop and baazar make me question your sanity
It felt like you were trying to hold in laughter during the Bazaar of Baghdad part.
oh you have no idea how much laughter got cut from the final edit...
Stop it before you hurt someone!!!
dude you got me so good with the april fools joke. well played.
Thank you! definitely unban Tolarian Academy and Mishra's Workshop so Artifacts have a chance again.
Necropotence was a sleeper, for ages it seemed like a bit of a weird card. Then people figured out the true power of it, a truly dangerous card indeed in the right decks.
By "the right deck" you mean "a deck that can pruduce 3 black mana"
Why the hell did I believe this, very well spoken and played 🤣
3:40 Eathcraft into a bunch of Ornithopters and Memnites, Crimson Kobolds, Kobolds of Ker Keeps...err..Shield Sphreres...and uh... and boom, Beastmaster Ascension or something?
So I got to watch until Bazaar (although Necropotence was super suspicious) then I had to restart the video 🤣🤣. You got me there.
as a dredge player i definitely believe that bazaar needs an unban immediately
I had a lot to say about each card you showed off but then I scrolled down to see it was an April Fools joke. Good one!
Some people had a lot to say and then edited their comment a few days later “wow you really got me”
As the video started I hadn’t considered when it was released... and when u started bashing the library.... yep u got me!!
Sorry, this variation of Magic doesn't exist. At least not to my knowledge.
There was a combo deck in legacy that used bizarre o f Bagdad and won on turn 2. It's been a while since I saw it, but it dredges hard and then somehow got a 12/12 with infect and trample onto the field.
It’s just called “Dredge”
you had me going for a second there but then I remembered what day it was
yall thought this was a joke halfway through, I was confused when he started talking about library right away.
at 8:52 you can hear the start of a laugh.
conclusion: unban all.
When he’s doing Library and he says “On the draw what are you going to do take your whole turn off to draw a card?” I was like uhhhh yaaaa that’s bad how??
I know a little bit about Legacy so I was following your pseudo-logic; you even got me thinking about trying to fit in Memory Jar in my mono-white Bomberman...
Nmh god the sarcasm alluded me the whole time. I was about to go off
I thought he just had no understanding of legacy, his confidence really sold it, well done
