Love this channel, I’m legally blind so cannot wait for this to be fully autonomous so I can buy one to have freedom and be able to do what I want without taking an Uber or finding someone to give me a ride 49 years old I’ve never had a license Then legally blind since seven years old, this is probably the greatest era in history to be alive
I am going to start disengaging every time it uses its turn signal early so I can report it and hope they’ll fix it. I also just did a 98 mile drive around Akron and Salem taking my parents to see Christmas lights. Mix of interstate, city and very rural roads and I never had to disengage.
@ yes. It is a HUGE leap from 12.5.4 which was in the car when I picked it up a couple weeks ago. It also really impressed my dad (and me) when we started the trip. We pulled out of their road and it accelerated up to about 50 and as another car was approaching from the other direction the car slowed down rapidly and we thought at first it was phantom braking but it saw the black car parked sideways in our lane with no lights on before we did. It then signaled and went around smoothly.
@ It’s funny you mention that because I have had several situations in which FSD spotted something before I did too! That is the ultimate goal for autonomous cars, and I’d say it’s doing fairly well.
@@dangflo Yes! Tesla started to reintroduce front facing radar into their newer fleet of vehicles, mine included. However, I do not believe they have reintroduced the ultrasonic sensors into their cars.
Teslas use vision only in their current cars. Older cars such 2022 Model Y have parking sensors and radar, but you can turn those off in the software to just use Tesla Vision. We have a 2024 model 3 and 2022 model Y. No appreciable difference between vision and sensors in the Y, and the 3 the Tesla Vision is excellent. I believe Tesla only use the other sensors in their development vehicles to calibrate the cameras in 10:46 the software.
@@DriveElectricToday While HW4 cars do include an input for 'radar', I don't think anybody has found an active radar unit on a HW4 car. I don't remember if the unit has even been found on anybody's car. I remember Dirty Tesla and others testing the old radar in various ways, so I'm confident that if the new system goes active there will be plenty of videos testing it. The new radar is believed to be some sort of HD variant. I believe it will be used for detecting speed bumps, potholes and parking lot curbs, etc.
Hmm no it’s definitely not intentional. I wonder why that is happening as I’m making sure the clippings are removed in my edits. I am uploading a new video shortly. Do you mind letting me know if you hear those same clippings in that video? I should have it up within the next 1-2 hours.
@DriveElectricToday you can't remove clipping. Once audio recordings are clipped you can lower the volume but can't recover the out of range information. Simply put: The damage is done, you can't revert it, regardless at which volume you save the file. You need to go into the settings of your camera or microphone and lower the audio gain, to avoid that the recordings clipped in the first place.
@ ah yeah that’s kind of what I’ve been doing. I’ve been using CapCut for post editing, and I reduce the clipping where I can. I just uploaded a new video. Wondering if the audio is ok there?
Great question - So I have my max speed offset value turned down to 0% and my offset value set to +5 mph. This ensures that no matter what the speed limit is, my car will only go 5 MPH over the limit. On the other hand, if you set your max speed offset to, say, 40% you’re essentially allowing the vehicle to have more dynamic control over the speed. Both of these values (max speed offset and offset) have a direct link. Since I have my max set to 0%, my car will only ever 5MPH over. I’ve been playing around with this for a few weeks now and am still trying to find the sweet spot. In my opinion, the recommended max offset of 40% is simply way too high. What are your thoughts?
@@DriveElectricToday I am not sure where to set the offset at a 5 mph setting? I only see the offset percentage. Guess I am not seeing that on my setup. I have 13.2.2.1 on M3 dual motor, 2024 Highland.
@@DriveElectricToday I am only setting it up using the “offset percentage” in FSD options. I haven’t looked at the Autopilot settings. Maybe that is my problem? I didn’t realize the offsets in the Autopilot settings affected FSD? Pretty new owner, took delivery 11/9/24.
Ah gotcha! Yes, within the autopilot settings on the touch screen, you’ll see those two options. The “max speed offset” and “offset”. Both of those play a role both in FSD and autopilot. Let me know if you can’t find them. I’m happy to help troubleshoot with you. Those are definitely important to setup!

Thank you for your continuous support! It’s so amazing to hear stories like yours. We are getting very close to that being a reality for you!
13:17 That was amazing! One of the thing where FSD was really struggling, but we need more examples!
Agreed!
I like the middle camera view as the headcam makes me feel dizzy. 😆
Thank you for the feedback! I will incorporate more of the cabin view!
You are absolutely right about the unintended false signals to anyone in the business exit lane. It was dangerous for me at least once.
100% agreed. I can’t help but wonder if this is on Tesla’s roadmap to fix or not. It can potentially have major implications if not addressed.
