@@Snakearm_ I don't even need to make a video to answer this one. The DS sprites definitely have a certain charm to them, but I'd say nowadays the 3D models are pretty dang good. Especially from what I've seen of TGAA.
FINALLY. Maya is probably one of if not my favorite characters and this game barely gives her any credit. The only time I could ever remember the game acknowledging her was at the end of bridge to the turnabout, giving her two lines about “staying strong for pearls”. SHE DESERVES SO MUCH MORE

For example, her dead sister, shes next leader of the fey clan, she almost DIED cause she got kidnapped once. And after she got kidnapped she just brushed it off saying “pearly could bring me back”. I just think that the game should have showed how these affected her more is all.

I believe Maya's gluttony is not because of hunger, but Maya trying to heal her pain of losing so much. It's not uncommon for those dealing with heavy emotional pain to binge eat
You know I never realized how much the original series refused to let her have any happy moments. Like even on the small scale, she likes Steel Samurai the suit actor gets arrested, she wants to see a circus, the ring matter dies. They really never let her get a break. Also not important to her character but I find it funny that after being M.I.A for two games when she comes back in Spirit if Justice she gets accused of murder twice in one trial and almost a third time in the last trial. They really had her make up for list time.
Maya is by far the strongest character in the series. She's been through so much yet still manages to put on a smile, have fun, and continue caring for those she deeply cares about. It takes strength to rise from tragedy and continue to move forward.

Maya never gets a break, does she? Seeing it all laid out like this does put into perspective just how much shit Maya goes through. I would argue that there's significant development worth mentioning to Maya's character in Bridge to the Turnabout, though, and that her character development doesn't finish in Justice for All. In Bridge to the Turnabout, we get a closer look at her relationship with her mother and how she feels about not even remembering her mother's face, and by the end of the case she's lost her mother AGAIN, before she even had the chance to realize this mysterious woman was her mother! She nearly got murdered by someone using her mother's body! She's very deeply affected and visibly traumatized by this, yet decides to hide her own trauma and inner turmoil for the sake of Pearl. Plus, there was the whole thing of her trying to protect Godot in her testimony - even though he, technically, murdered her mother. I'd say that these developments are important enough to deserve mentioning.
In-universe Maya: Tragic and unlucky. Masks an inferiority complex or depression with a chipper personality. Been saved by Mia and Phoenix out of a toxic family situation, but still gets into a lot of issues due to bad luck. Stays a loyal friend to Phoenix even beyond her promise to Mia. Fandom interpretation: Funny burger Yaoi girl.
I think the real crazy thing is Maya's ability to stay strong despite everything. When she's not framed for murder, kidnapped, or having doubts about her own ability. She is one of the most peppy characters. Despite everything she bounces back up again and again.
this is one of the main reasons why i love maya so much. many people only see her as "annoying" or a comic relief character, but she's just following the advice mia always gives to phoenix - to smile through your hardest times. maya is constantly going through hardships and she always puts on a brave face and smile in order to reassure the ones around her. even in bridge to turnabout, when maya watches her mom get murdered, she still puts on a smile because she KNOWS it's also a very difficult time for pearls. they've both lost their mothers in tragic ways. phoenix, maya, and pearl all bond over their shared grief throughout all of their trials together, and i think its so beautiful. they all became each others family and they still have fun and entertaining moments through all of their hardships. maya is such a great character and i feel as though people overlook her way too much.

Just a small correction, Gregory Edgeworth's spirit didnt name the correct culprit of his murder, Yanni Yogi really was innocent, as the killer was Von Karma, and Gregory simply didnt know as it was dark inside the elevator, so he assumed Yanni Yogi was the killer
This is why I'm so in denial with Mia's death since completing 2-2, It didn't bothered me once I was just shocked, but now I put myself in Maya's shoes and I can't think but that she is loosing pratically everything, sure there's good things ahead for her like her becoming the head of the Kurain village and all but that doesn't bring back her sister ;-;
I love Maya and she's one of my favorites characters in this series. But it sucks she faces so many tragedies or becomes a suspect. It sucks in the anime Maya didn't hold on to bullet evidence. It's a shame

Maya used to be my favorite character. But the more I replay the games, the more I started to dislike her childish behavior. And then in SoJ, she gets accused of murder again, and it was at that point I realized Capcom couldn't make anything else of her than the scapegoat of literally anyone else. Yuck.
