Echeveria are just amazing specimens aren't they? A few summers ago vandals destroyed my gardens, I was more disappointed with the broken pots than the beat up plants. Most plants took a full season to recover, but my succulent garden just kept on pumping out pups. My pincushion and brittle prickly pear cacti stay outdoors for the winter with my sedum and hens and chicks. While my echeveria, kalanchoe and schlumbergera come indoors for the winter. I like the aesthetics of the plants that have had time outdoors. I suppose you could call it a weathered look? I was gifted a tiny pot of cacti and echeveria about 20 years ago. They multiplied so well for me that I took interest in including them in my yard during the spring and summer months. With some research and making friends that grow succulents my love of these wonderous plants flourished as well.
Oh goodness Kris! That is wonderful. Honestly, us humans can learn so much from these plants - patience, resilience, grit. Well, I have learned a few and continuously learning. They can play up with my emotions sometimes too.. haha.. Thanks for sharing, you have got a great history with your plants and lots of story to tell about them. Kudos to you!
