HOW TO MAKE FAST-DRAINING SOIL MIX | Let’s Experiment!!! | Agavoides Arrangement
I saw the process of a clipped leaf growing into a healthy little seedling-so fascinating! I was wondering, after these few months, will the original big Cotyledon tomentosa grow new leaves at the cut area? And will it be obvious that it was clipped? Maybe this could be an interesting idea for a future video! Hopefully, I'll get the chance to buy a large Cotyledon tomentosa someday and try propagating seedlings myself.
At the dollar store there are these small kits with metal wire to hang up picture frames. I used that to make my "floral gorrote" with a key ring on each end. You use pliers to squash a washer thing to lock the wire. I can now behead any thing with ease . It's just my partner thinks my tool is weird and questionable ;-)
oh the key ring makes it easier! And well, whatever works, right?
fantastic work thanks … i have a couple of old mugs that i want to upcycle into plant pots but don’t have a drill. perfect time to use my little hammer
Hammertime! lol
How much for the favors??
There are different prices for the favours depending on type and design. Best to visit our website www.SucculentSocial.com.au Thank you
All succulents every beautiful and healthy
Is there a part two? 😊
I will try my best but it might towards the end of the year when we do clearance and reset after the busy Christmas orders. Thank you for your patience.
The crushed terracotta is a brilliant idea. However, baked terracotta is also quite porous, meaning it likes to suck up and hold onto water. However, you can take this into advantage, as this could possibly act as a water reserve, which then slowly lets water back into the coarse soil whilst not water logging the soil.
No i jak ich tu nie kochać? 🥰
Hi. Does this work on plastic?
Satisfying! I love it ❤❤
What do I do with the healthy strings?
Hi. you can either pot it in a separate pot so you have a new plant or just put together with the rest so you have a fuller pot. ☺️
Wht kind of soil mix you used
We create our own mix which is combo of potting mix, sand, perlite, husk, fertiliser..
Can you tell me if the single Dolphin nodes grew into a sting or died?
Hi. they will have roots and turn into new plant. I always throw them in the original pot so they will grow fuller.
Are you placing the dry cuttings into a dry mix and leaving it dry for 3 weeks or so?
Yes, around that time.. 3 or 4 weeks (depending on the season) is when they grow roots. And once roots are out, we slowly introduce water.. ☺️
Holaaa 🤗🤗🤗 que preciosidad de suculentas felicidades por tu colaboración tan bella 😊😊
Thank you. Muchas gracias!
Beautiful succulents 🌱🌵🌱🌝👍
@@gardentours thank you.😍
Can i use potting soil and perlite to pot them?
Hi. Sorry I missed your comment. Yes of course you can. Perlite is good for retaining moisture and also getting the mix more coarse. Sand will be a good addition too.
Do you peeps do markets? ✌️
No we do not. All orders are either via our website/ etsy or via emails. 😊
Thank you so much for the helpful video! Now I know how to save the almost dead parts, but how do you use the healthier parts? (Still green, looked healthy but roots are not ok.) I researched little bit but I am confused. Thank you in advance!
Hi. The healthier parts are easy. Just put in soil as well and they will root.. they will root faster than the almost dead ones.. 😊
@@SucculentSocial Thank you so much! Yes, I put them on the dried soil, did not water at all. Some of pearls are shrinking now. When should I give them water? I am afraid they may die by the dryness on the soil before rooting...
My dark prince got accidently beheaded with it's first shoot up. It has 2 layers of leaves will it continue to grow taller after it scabs over?
Sorry I asked before I got to the end of the video 😊
Beautiful yard!!!
Thank you!
The terracottas are so adorable!
Thank you..😍
Lovely video. Thank you very much.
Thank you
Hi there! My little bears paw was in my west facing window during the day. He was growing a lot of leaves but the leaves were sooooo compact new paws weren't getting enough sun and they were looking pretty flat and not plump. I moved him to my bookshelf a few feet from the windows a few weeks ago and they've stretched a little and now I can actually see the stems and where I might trim in the future for propagation. I see yours looks like its more stretched out than my plant.. do you think he was sun stressed and now he's happy stretching out a little? He's putting off tons of new paws since moving to the bookshelf. I'm not sure if I should move him back to the window or leave him on the bookshelf.
Hi there. Looks like your plant is happy where it is right now. I’d say keep it there till it grows the pups. Then you can propagate. But if you feel that they are getting too leggy, then slowly introduce more sun. All the best.
Made me so happy to see that plant made it
always satisfying.😍
Congratulations; he is adorable 😊
Thank you so much 😀 We are obsessed with him.
My bearpaw's leaves are so compact I can't get to the stem to trim him. My paws aren't nearly as plump. I hope he'll get more plump as he gets bigger.
Hi there. Yours must be a wonderfully compact bunch of paws. If you want to get them to be less compact for the purpose of propagation and cutting stem, take them off the sun for a few days, they will elongate and thus will create space for you to reach out to the stem. Then just slowly introduce again to sun after propagation. I am sure yours will be plump as they get bigger, just ensure you got a nice soil in there that will help them store in more water. All the best!
Just one last question Sorry, does pot size really matter and if yes how to choose the right one?
Yes, pot size will matter. Too much soil will retain more water, hence prone to rotting. Less soil will result to unhealthy plants (less nutrients). On our products, the depth of the pot is about 10% more compared to the height of the succculent. Same thing with the opening, around 10% more of the width of the succulent.
Salamat Po! Is it true that the soil has to be amended to suit the weather conditions to the place you are currently in? Or just follow the proportions mentioned for all types of climates? Thank you Sir for sharing this video.
Hello! From experience, our soil mix works in different seasons (we’re located in Melbourne). Our winter is wet so we just don’t water them a lot (sometimes once a month). Important to note that the mix must be well draining. If you are in an area of high humidity, you may want to observe the water retention of your mix. If it does, then you may decrease your perlite and/or coconut coir. Hope this helps.
Thank you for Sharing your garden lovely collections beautiful succulents 😎😎🌹🌹❤❤
Thank you as always Jillian!
Waw very very nice sacculenta garden l from nepal
So nice of you. Hi from Australia!
I clicked on this channel by accident and im glad to stay the full 12min. Grt video with details care tips. I just got this green star guy and some lithos, can they be pot together in a shallow pot? Thanks! 😊
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching our video. I am not the best person to answer about lithops but usually lithops are planted in isolation but if you want to combine it with another plant, best to combine those with same water needs and same dormancy. Shallow pots will be great for those with shorter roots. Thanks.
Echeveria afterglow, blue sky, black prince, neon Breakers, and several other hybrids/cultivars will produce a terminal inflorescence. It's usually just the hybrids, shaviana and cante are species, and you rarely see it in species.
That is so interesting! Thanks
what kind of cement is he using?
He is using just the general cement from the trade stores.
Can we just talk about how adorable this interaction is between these two partners? And thank you so much for this easy to understand explanation and demonstration. I will be trying this, as I frequently find flower pots I’d love to use that do not have drainage holes! In fact, the more I like the pot, the less likely it will have drainage holes, it seems 😂
You are so kind! Thank you so much. And I agree with you the gorgeous ones usually do not have holes! But nothings can stop you now. 😍
very nice lovely plant
Thank you so much. I have a drill but I will try this technique. I have many ceramic pots without holes and this will allow me to transplant a lot of my succulents.
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
@@JoanneBowker Thank you
your work is perfect and beautiful.
@@OrigamiManiacs Aww, you are too sweet. Thanks
Where to get the silicone moulds?
You can buy from online shops like ebay, amazon or aliexpress..
@SucculentSocial Yes, thank you. I found them in ebay, Temu, and Amazon too. Thank you for the tutorial is was great.
What kind of plant is that?
That is a Echeveria elegans
Very informative video you need to make more.
Thank you, we will. We just had a new baby so videos will have to wait for now but once I am more settled, we will take advantage of maternity leave. 😃
I was never taught much, if anything about plants. I love them so much, bear paws are my favourite. This is incredibly helpful, what may be common sense for others isn’t for some. I appreciate you teaching me about the cuttings and trimmings!! ❤
Glad it was helpful! 😄
Trader Joe’s cinnamon powder yay! Love this video btw you’re a life saver!
Aww, glad it was helpful! 😃
I’m making some home decor and desk organizers. Do I need to seal them? If yes, which sealant would you recommend?
Hi. If I use them for plants, I do not seal them as I want them to be as porous as possible.. But if you need to seal them, you can use one for pots and ornaments.
use a concrete sealer like the one used for stamp crete
Can you use play sand? And what type of concrete? Like what materials should I buy from the big box stores
Hi sorry for the late reply. Yes, you can use play sand. then mix with concrete and water..
Your arrangements are just beautiful ❤
Thank you so much! 😍
Your arrangements are soooooo beautiful ❤
You are too kind. Thanks. 😍
Do you wash or seal them after making please.
yes, we wash them but the seal will be depending on what we use them for. If putting in candles, we seal them. For succulents, we don’t so they can remain as porous as possible..
@@SucculentSocial thank you. This has been so helpful.
Great video! Does the stump endlessly give babies?
yes, they gave babies..☺️
