- Can you VLOG on the SONY A7iii?
So I am constantly on the search for the perfect 'VLOGGING' setup, and at the moment I am limited for options... so can the A7iii be used as a solution? I took it away with me to find out!

The Sony A7III can definitely be used for vlogging. This video is a great example of that.

This was a great video. Really interesting to see the iPhone versus the Sony.
I’ve no flip out on my canon and been curious how to shoot solo b-roll style!! Wondering should I use the iPhone or camera, looking forward to the next one! 👌🏻
Solo b-roll is the worst! Ha ha though you can make it work if you get the right angles and maybe add some zooms to add dynamics in post when editing? Might be a good video idea… ;)
I've got the A7iii and use a 16mm lens and that does the trick. Have enough room to work with, especially making sure I'm in shot. Plus I use my phone as a monitor as I can adjust some settings with the sony app.
Failing that I use my old trusty panasonic SD90.

This video was very engaging, like the authenticity man. What lens do you have on the Sony? I have the a7iii with sigma 16mm f.14. Debating on what to do for my upcoming trip to Thailand... I was considering picking up a small vlogging camera but now wonder if I should just get a nice lens instead..
So Sorry i'm just seeing this! In this video i am using the 16-35mm 2.8 GM I would say its up there for vlogging as i think the focal range def gives you that variety, however it is a beefy lens! Though i think there is a new version out which is smaller and lighter... Although for a trip and vlogging, the new ZV-1 cameras are producing stunning results in a small form factor! Hope you have an awesome trip and hope I'm not too late in responding!!

I've been enjoying using my a7c + crane m3 since day one. But I don't vlog haha. Nice video!
That’s a shot it! Maybe need to get my hands on one to try out!
@@CraigStellar Crane M3 doesn't fit most cams due to that big EVF (it works, but won't be too freely for moving around), but a7c has a small one so it works perfectly. (Yet they didn't let the M3 to control the a7c using cable, which is unreasonable)
I don't think i would be using it on a gimbal anyway but good to know it doesn't control
Being in the hills I definitely wouldn't want to be lugging a big camera around but the audio ain't great on the phone. Can you use a lav mic with the iPhone?
I could use a lav but that might not pick up others around me talking and it’s an extra step when putting the video together to sync it up

Thank you! In this video it was mostly the legs off my dji ronin s and a manfrotto ball head ha ha keeping it short and stubby but perfect for a desk setup!

Uhh, you didn't answer the main question: what lens should I use for vlogging? Do you use compact maybe 30 mm lens, or you choose huge 24-70 zoom lenses?
Sorry! I like to use a zoom to get a bit of variation, but think the perfect distance for full frame sensors is 16-24mm so maybe the 30mm is a bit too close in my opinion especially when hand hold

Yeah I like the days out vlogs, shoot days and trips up mountains all good fun. Yeah that’s what I’m thinking in terms of the flip screen.
Great quality camera I have the same one . I wanna vlog with it but I can’t stand the stabilization . If you buy a lens with stabilization it’s not as good as a Sony zv-1.
The stabilisation isn't my issue to be honest. Mainly the fact I can't see myself to monitor without additional 'bits' Does the zv-1 not have a crop?

But I love it
I got the ulanzi gimbal for it
So should I vlog from my 14pro max or get a camera ?
Depends on your budget/ style you want to go for, the iPhones have their limitations in terms of control/ focal lengths, but it is def doable! you can get a relatively good ‘vlogging’ camera fire less than an iPhone 14, and you get interchangeable lenses and don’t have notification/ phone calls coming through when your trying to film! Ha ha!
