      Depends on your budget/ style you want to go for, the iPhones have their limitations in terms of control/ focal lengths, but it is def doable! you can get a relatively good ‘vlogging’ camera fire less than an iPhone 14, and you get interchangeable lenses and don’t have notification/ phone calls coming through when your trying to film! Ha ha!

    I’ve been going back and forth between the prvke 21 and the prvke lite. I’ve started to lean more towards the lite because I can actually see my gear in darker areas (wedding receptions, night events etc). Having the tan interior, everything pops. I’ve also come to realize the lite version holds more camera gear than the 21L since it doesn’t have a removable cube. When packed out with the same gear and extras, the 21L was able to hold an extra puffy jacket. The bags are also not waterproof but water resistant. Was caught in several torrential downpours in a 3 hour period on a hike in the 21L (weather called for sunshine, shouldn’t have believed it lol). Water eventually got in the bag, outer pockets were soaked and interior was very damp. Camera gear had some dampness too but was not a concern. Would definitely do it again but highly recommend the rain fly. Great video, I’m definitely subscribing and can’t wait to see more! ✅

    • @CraigStellar
      @CraigStellar 5 місяців тому

      I hadn't thought about the benefits of the light interior! makes total sense! As for the waterproof/ resistant point, I had mine out in heavy rain a few weeks ago for a whole morning and it didn't let any water in... that I noticed anyway! Thanks for watching! and glad to have you subbed!

    This video was very engaging, like the authenticity man. What lens do you have on the Sony? I have the a7iii with sigma 16mm f.14. Debating on what to do for my upcoming trip to Thailand... I was considering picking up a small vlogging camera but now wonder if I should just get a nice lens instead..

    • @CraigStellar
      @CraigStellar 9 місяців тому

      So Sorry i'm just seeing this! In this video i am using the 16-35mm 2.8 GM I would say its up there for vlogging as i think the focal range def gives you that variety, however it is a beefy lens! Though i think there is a new version out which is smaller and lighter... Although for a trip and vlogging, the new ZV-1 cameras are producing stunning results in a small form factor! Hope you have an awesome trip and hope I'm not too late in responding!!

    I've got the A7iii and use a 16mm lens and that does the trick. Have enough room to work with, especially making sure I'm in shot. Plus I use my phone as a monitor as I can adjust some settings with the sony app. Failing that I use my old trusty panasonic SD90. Love the video my man!!

    Uhh, you didn't answer the main question: what lens should I use for vlogging? Do you use compact maybe 30 mm lens, or you choose huge 24-70 zoom lenses?

    • @CraigStellar
      @CraigStellar Рік тому

      Sorry! I like to use a zoom to get a bit of variation, but think the perfect distance for full frame sensors is 16-24mm so maybe the 30mm is a bit too close in my opinion especially when hand hold

  • @overallomniscience
    @overallomniscience 2 роки тому

    Yeah you can't really compare this to a DSLR. All your gripes seem to be because your not comfortably with the level that this camera/cinema cameras in general sit at for price stuff. I had this same line of thinking when I bought a gh5s when it first came out. Image looks great and everything is so much cheaper, why need a red? Until I started working with red and arri cameras ACing and DPing. The Komodo for all intents and purposes is a cheap camera. Your getting a camera visually on par with helium/Gemini (according to CVP althought I think the highlight rolloff is nicer on komodo) for 10k-15k for everything. Although you're complain about lenses doesn't make sense because RF mount is the most adaptable mount next to E mount so just buy an adapter or speed booster and have a 6k full frame beast. I don't know if you just don't have the patience for the proper setup times, boot times and everything in the normal commercial and film world, but based on this video it sounds like you just want a doc camera in a DSLR body, which is fine. Get an FX6 (the FX9 is a piece of shit camera) (Komodo/helium owner)

    • @CraigStellar
      @CraigStellar 2 роки тому

      Thanks for the input! I totally agree with everything you are saying! Like you mentioned the set up times and the type of shoots I have on the regular (not all) don’t allow for much of that which is what I’m getting at. The rf lenses I totally agree too they are very versatile but you cannot adapt them to Sony or vice Versa to use with my Sony for photo work, so I would need to have doubles with different mounts which I would need to invest in but like I mentioned in my video, could I put that money to something more practical that works for me you know?, I have rented in the past but for quick grab and go shoots it’s not ideal. But anyway thanks for the comment! Glad you love the red systems! They are awesome and my experience with them has been great! I have been looking into the fx6…

    Hey Craig I 100% agree on traveling light. Am traveling with one body Fuji X S10 ( APSC ) a 16-80mm Zoom and a 23mm prime. The 10L Peak Sling looks like a great size, I have a smaller Peak Sling but it’s too small. Over the last 50 years I have enjoyed using lighter gear…makes using your camera fun and less burdensome. I like the Peak strap easy to carry with either a prime weighs <21 ounces or with the zoom <32 ounces. When on a short walk especially street with my prime I will stay inconspicuous and only use the wrist strap. Cheers !
