Superb playing as usual, Rob. You got the ride bell accents, you got the hi-hat doubles, AND you threw in some improvisation as well....basically you GOT IT! I'm very jealous!! Rob :)
Super super super sweet. Thanks for sharing. Stewart has a composers heart, as his parts not just '2 & 4' snoozes or crazy all over the place aggressive nuttiness. I was feeling a little down, but man you made my day. Simply wonderful
+davidbspamboy Thanks, man. And you're welcome. Actually, within a couple hours of posting it when I did, Stewart saw it and tweeted me. Greatest day of my life.
Perfection!! A spot-on cover of a brilliant performance by my favorite drummer. The Police are why I play music. Thanks to you for sharing in that passion for their genius.
Smooth feel and great performance, Mr. Brown! LOVE that Stewart himself tweeted about this and name checked you! What a feeling that must have been. Got a question: I don't hear the original drum track under your playing and would love to know how you did that. Were you able to extract that somehow off the track, or is it turned way down?
+Mark Rhodes HUGE Police fan, man. What made my life was that Stewart actually saw this and Tweeted me some very nice words. I think I was unconscious for about 2 minutes. 😑
+Carlos Rueda Thanks, Carlos! The trippy thing is that within four hours of this being posted, Stewart (as in 'Copeland') saw it and actually Tweeted me some pretty nice words! I almost had a heart attack, man.
Spot on my man - great effort, you make it look so easy too. Some times I get really down because i'm not progressing fast enough.......then I see something like this and it reminds me just why i'm playing in the first place!
Dear Rob, Would you consider doing a cover of the live version of this song from the "Old Grey Whistle Test" performance? Literally my favorite video of the police playing ever. It's so refreshing to hear a drummer talk about what makes Stewart's style so unique and can actually play like him as well as you do. I'd really love if you could talk about his use of tempo shifts, namely speeding up slightly to drive phrases forward. He does it a bunch in the live version I just mentioned with such nuance and subtlety. Anyways, thanks for your wonderful videos! Best, D
Very good your accents! They quide the bass parts and the melody of the song in a pleasant way. Great playing! Stewart would be satisfied with you I suppose.
Amazing! Just wondering though at the end why you didn’t alternate the rack tom in like the recording. You might if just wanted to do it your own way. I loved it.
Hi Rob, congrats for your videos, very useful!!! (especially about tuning toms and snare!!!) Have you tried the 18 Paiste PSTX Swiss medium crash??? Because I like your Swiss Alpha and Im looking for the same sound in Paiste... thanks in advance Rob..
Ooohh thanks Rob for your quick response... Ill take your advice, but I think those PSTX swiss crashes have a nice trashy sound... Ill try them.. and by the way... let me tell you... your 15" Signature Dark Energy Hi Hats sound FU....ING AWESOME!!! hehehe... greetings from Perú, man!!!
Hey rob, maybe you want to tilt the snare forward a bit. Makes it easier to do rimshots using traditional grip. Just my 2 pence. Otherwise, good cover!
+Anthony Aird Still viewable on desktop and laptop, man. They just put a mobile device restriction on it for copyright laws. Sometimes that can happen.
+Sober Jams! Some of the early stuff is challenging to play with just because Stu's playing is just friggin' ferocious on those tracks and it's enough just trying to keep up without falling all over yourself; like how he plows through tunes like Peanuts and Deathwish. But yea, tempo wasn't his strongest link. Especially live. Still at the top of my top 3 biggest influences, though. I don't think I've ever played through a song with an artist live or in the studio without ripping him off at least three times.
Excellent! Unreal how Stewart tweeted you afterwards! Great stuff!
Superb playing as usual, Rob. You got the ride bell accents, you got the hi-hat doubles, AND you threw in some improvisation as well....basically you GOT IT! I'm very jealous!! Rob :)
Good playing.thanks.I played percussion in highschool.

So good. I’m working on this great tune and it’s weird / rad “Copeland” grove in the verse. You inspired me to keep at it.
You've got a unique feel man! Congratulations from Brazil !! I really like your channel, you post only very useful stuff! I'm a fan! hahaha
+Lucas Schroeder Rossi Thanks for watchin' the channel, man. Shout out to 🇧🇷!

A perfect performance cover bro.
Copeland is the most flowed drummer in the world.
Fabulously smooth, solid & in-the-pocket.
And since I made this comment, I covered this song. Very unique groove pattern.

+ibernalq You'd be happy with either the Thin or Medium. The Thin would probably be closer to my Alpha, though. Try 'em both and grab the one you dig.

Hi Rob! Precise as always!! Tell us, is that a medium OR thin swiss alpha??
That’s a medium

May I make a request? How about all of Zenyatta, straight through?! Droooool...
Hey rob, maybe you want to tilt the snare forward a bit. Makes it easier to do rimshots using traditional grip. Just my 2 pence. Otherwise, good cover!
so do u tune ur Yamahas the same way as you tuned the toms in the tuning video
Every single time, man. No real reason for me to do it any other way 🙂
I play this and driven too tears for fun sometimes
I was saving it and now it's gone! Aaaargh!

MMMM MMMM MMMMMMM!
How fitting you're wearing a bob marley shirt playing a police song..
Ottimo ma aggiungerei più passaggi sui tom👍🏻
Solid!
