What a lovely chap to be behind such a horrific game! I'm very much looking forward to Trench Crusade and would 100% be here for more content about the game.
.....LOVECRAFT IN TRENCH CRUSADE.....oh man mike, dont leave me hanging! Thank you again for this vid Jordan, love your stuff, especially the raw nature of the interview were the person answers in the heat of the moment. keep up the great work :)
Great interview! Great to see the importance and value of art in a fantasy setting being fully appreciated. It's what drew me into Warhammer in the first place, and I think that's true for a lot of people
First!! I’m a backer for this project at the moment and I am so excited for this project and IP and I like so many others are so excited for the future! Thanks for doing this interview Jordan
Cool guy His Trench Crusade illustrations are amazing (The Chorister and the War Prophet are especially brilliant) Very good to hear the Kickstarter was so successful!
I am kitbashing trench crusade at the moment of typing. I have never felt as inspired to immediately make models than after taking in all of Mikes amazing art. Also helps that the rules have clear roots in mordheim!
Re: Warhammer Online, it’s funny to hear him talk about that project as one of my friends was the lead character animator on that game. When he says, “5-6 of us went to some convention in Maryland” well, that was Games Day and one of the guys you went with was my long-time buddy Jeremy. Lol. Also, that’s the only video game I’ve ever purchased the Collector’s Edition for and it came with an art book full of concept art. I’m sure his work is in there , I’ll have to dig that out, look through it and see if I can find his stuff! The free version he mentions is called “Age of Reckoning” and it’s pretty fun! Just like I remember the game from back in the day. Last time I played there were a decent # of players too, so it was good times. - Joey Jar Jar.
Great to interview Mike Franchina Jordan ! Excellent choice and very timely for Trench Crusade. The game is a proper renaissance of the golden era of GW :)
Just sat watching this Kickstarter tick down in it's final 90 minutes and it's currently at £2,550,000 (or about $3.24 million). I originally just went for the book but after seeing the 40K battle boxes got another price rise I got the STLs for a whole TC faction instead.
How mike feels about diablo 1/2 being so different to D3 is how i felt and it really put me off the diablo franchise. Its so cool having an artist put into words what i couldnt explain.
Gorkamorka is a fantastic game that I believe GW dropped for a number of reasons, they failed to sell their stock well and now most importantly GW doesn’t want its customers to be kit bashing miniatures because they not only want to sell their products but they also want to control the physical size that fulfills their IP and all that nonsense… What a brilliant interview with a true artist 🧑🎨 nice work Jordan 🫡 I liked Mike more until he said that the US version of The Ring was better than the Japanese one 😮
Main reason is money as always, the translation first dips and left over stocks in foreign language left a huge mark. So much that they are still fearing over producing and fill their inventory needlessly. I dont think the kitbashing was ever an issue, Gorkamorka was made in a very short time and the kitbash encouragement was a patch for the issue of not having enough models to produce for gorkamorka.
IMHO the original Ring ending was better. I'm guessing they changed it for the American version because they thought we self-centered westerners can't understand sacrifice anymore. FWIW, I think the Japanese messed it up with Ring 2. It just threw away the internal logic of the curse, which was the interesting thing in the original.

Mike was so lovely to chat to, you’d never guess he was manifesting demons on the battlefield!

It’s a really exciting time for TC, I was very pleased Mike could find a moment to chat!
I've watched a couple of interviews with Mike, and one thing really stands out: He needs some damn curtains for that window.

Another great conversation!
Cheers Dave!
Great interview - looking forward to this game
No skaven in Old world, and no awesome specialist game alike GorkaMorka. Why I have given up on GW. Now I have Trench Crusade! EVEN BETTER!
Another fantastic interview. I’m trying my best to ignore to Trench Crusade a bit so I don’t get sucked in as it looks awesome 😂
