@@LAHFaust The title of "Principality" is a reference to Ephesians 6-12, definitely not a mistake. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Still think it woulda been cooler and worked better if the setting started in World War One going centuries forward (especially since some things like the templars didn’t exist yet) but the lore they do have is really cool
I wish the Christian faction(s) would have more esoteric aspects to it. Hermeticism was a Catholic invention, after all. And now that I'm thinking about it, the heretic forces should realistically be more like Chaos from 40k, with more temptation and less "you will actually just have a miserable life and guarantee a permanent residence in the least savory afterlife possible." I suppose it isn't about religious accuracy, though.
All of the lore is stated to be propaganda made by the Church. That doesn't mean it's all false. But I imagine there are reasons that people join the heretics. They must think it's possible for them to get something for it.
The heretic forces seem to play into the arrogance of their followers, especially stuff like the hell knights and plague knights, promises of power n stuff, but certainly could use a bit more spice especially like Tzeentch or Slaanesh of warhammer
I concede it would be neat if there were very small groups of gnostics, hermeticists, Kabbalah mystics etc. In the same way it would be neat to see small groups that broke off because they still wanted to believe in their old gods. Those would be rare but they could like, have some cool weapons that are super effective, but the Church looks down on people using them because they're made by the sinning pagans. You could do more with the mystic sects of Christianity and Judaism because they probably wouldn't be as loved if they really fought a whole war about 4 nails vs 3. But they could be the equivalent of how people view fortune tellers today. Not favorably, not respected as a "true prohet" but people still seek out their mystic knowledge and sigils and its *kinda* tolerated, especially if they also have some mercenaries representing might be a similar situation in that one to the Irish faction that they let some of the old Druid superstitions fly because they're such good fighters.

Its obviously completely different. Theres super soldiers created from cloning of a religious icon, different legions who specialize in types of warfare and weapons, giant super soldiers in power armor, machines that require an absurd amount of "just hang the pilot from hooks", some people go into a different dimension and get warped into super soldiers for the demons. I mean, what similarities do you even see?
If you get a hold of some existing crusader models from any number of model peddlers, you could do a full game of this set in The Triclavian Wars, which I find rather fun. It could be this community's very own Horus Heresy.
I hope that after this universe gets officially established, we get more factions. I would love to see the armies of the Holy Roman Empire, the Papacy, etc.
Grimdark setting that completely disregards human populations. "Millions died in the fighting, and then a plague was released where tens of millions more died, and then millions more died fighting that!" Good god, how did the medieval population keep up?
Keep in mind its millions dying over the course of 800 years of largely static and siege based warfare. With much of the fighting being confined to an expanse of land stretching only from Egypt to the Levant. Most of the rest of the World is fine and most of the church factions are foreign soldiers come to due battle with Hells legions.
... and The Lord looked upon the grim'n'dark suffering of the people and The Lord said, "AYO Y'ALL NEED TO GET FUCKIN." ... thus, the people fucked and were fruitful.
Holy shit, they made what weird online dudes 15,000 layers deep into CK3 and HOI4 total conversion mods think the catholic church is going to be like into a game.
Played a couple of games, it's honestly too much fun, we almost pulled an all nighter playing 3v3, Demons/ heretics vs the Human factions. I played the Court and had so much fun. I can't wait to get the faction and paint it, and see how this whole thing transpires. I need books, games, and all other media set on this amazingly tasteful world
I'd love to see some minor factions. I know there are some references to Jewish Knights and maybe even Pagan warbands, which as a practicing pagan, I'd love to see even if it just a minor one, a band of Pagan warriors fighting the legions of hell in the name of their old gods.
Definitely had a similar idea when one dude in the thread had the idea for incorporating the more "mystic" types of Christianity. Like gnostics and Kabbalah practitioners are there, but they're not given much respect and are viewed the way we view fortune tellers in the modern day (always found it interesting that whether you're a scummy teller doing witchcraft or a prophet of God just...based on how much people like what you say), but people still occasionally go to them and its just tolerated solely because they sometimes send mercenaries. And it'd be neat to see pagan groups that are basically nomadic because when there's literally heaven and hell they're obviously heretical for not believing. I thought it might be neat for them to have like really good weapons or something though even though the church-government doesn't love people using weapons made by pagans. I can maybe also seeing them kidnapped for the forces of heaven/hell because as they DON'T believe the demons have less power over them....but for the most part they're equivalent to the super minor 40k xeno factions like the Jokero or the Yu'Vath or the Hrud that basically don't get much info and aren't playable. Ooh! Or Maybe they could be well known for taking in deserters from the church military because they're so ignored and disliked
Love your video! As a small constructive nitpick: If you have to deal with german sources and encounter the weird letter "ß" the transliteration "ss" - _"Stoßtruppen"_ expressed as _"Stosstruppen"_ rather than "StoBtruppen" - would be preferable because that's precisely what the increasingly obsolete pseudo-letter ß or originally "sz" is meant to express, a sharper "s" -sound. It's similar with umlauts - they are also indicating two merged letters, _a+e=ä, u+e=ü and o+e=ö_ so just omitting the dots amounts to leaving out a full letter. Here you can simply replace the umlaut dots with a following letter "e" instead and it would be perfectly correct, even required in banking or crosswords and the like. 😅
@@KateriYTIt's not about pronounciation - hell, you are certainly doing a better job than I ever could in that regard. I was referring to an instance of written language including a perculiarity of written german I would stumble over if it wasn't coincidentally my first language, that's why I explicitly framed it as a minor nitpick. I thought the hint that you could just type "ss" rather think about how the hell to transscribe "ß" could get appreciated by somebody dabbling into such things, and I certainly would because replacing a combination of letters with another random letter because it bears some superficial similarity just isn't a matter of pronounciation.. I still appreciate the work you put in and still subscribed because it really wasn't meant that personally as it appearently came across.

"Hoping to earn the privilege of dying on the Wheel" is such a fantastic line, it says a lot truly about the Pilgrims in general.

@@a_rat_named_mouse making a long story short: the discord server that the trench crusade crew is using got flooded by a good number of the people that got mad at the whole female custodes thing in 40K, these guys started to feel a bit to "at home" and started posting their weird stuff.
Since the server is a small thing the mods got scared about the whole situation, since it was a loot of new people and went panic mode banning them left, right and center, and then the usual suspects of UA-cam vultures decided to make videos about the whole debacle.

This is an amazing setting(s). I don’t care for war games, but an rpg set in this world, in any point in the timeline, would be incredible.
Hurrah more trench crusade content
Wait, if New Antioch is a Principality wouldn't it be ruled by a Prince? If it were ruled by a Duke it would be a Duchy.
I picture the Metachrist like Lilith from Evangelion, this massive, tortured creature nailed to a cross, forced to endure its flesh and blood being harvested to feed the war machine.
Yeah by a prince, he probably just made a mistake
@@LAHFaust The title of "Principality" is a reference to Ephesians 6-12, definitely not a mistake.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Still think it woulda been cooler and worked better if the setting started in World War One going centuries forward (especially since some things like the templars didn’t exist yet) but the lore they do have is really cool
Just started the video but I already appreciate the explanation of "what this video is/isnt". I feel more videos should do something similar
The Knights of Avarice would be a great minor faction for you I think
Honestly both the heretics and the Christians could use more occult and esoteric stuff in their lore imo
Not favorably, not respected as a "true prohet" but people still seek out their mystic knowledge and sigils and its *kinda* tolerated, especially if they also have some mercenaries representing might be a similar situation in that one to the Irish faction that they let some of the old Druid superstitions fly because they're such good fighters.

timeliness different, maybe in tc universe templars were founded in 420 ad we don't know yet seeing as the lore is still incomplete
The knights Templar was actually founded in 1099 on July 15 after the siege of Jerusalem. The placed their encampments on the temple mound hence the name Templar. 1118AD was the date it was recognized as an official order heraldic knighthood by the Pope

Fear and hunger in a 40k year crusade
Idea for a Asian faction:
The Brotherhood of Hong, inspired off of the Taiping rebellion where the leader of the group believed he was the younger brother of Jesus Christ.
This faction works very similar to Adeptus Mechanicus, with a heavy emphasis on repairing vehicles and architects, along with fielding experimential weapons.
Oh my gos that would be so cool
@AldoMattiaSchiavone another idea I had was one for Japan, I know some Samurai clans were Christian or Catholic due to outsider influence and wanting a access to guns, so what if the entire nation just became Catholic or Christian? Being an alternative history and all that

Since warhammer is an amalgamation of a ton of other peoples IP I could see how other games would seem similar to it
Warhammer has a very specific image and flavor to its world. Inspired by bunches of stuff? Sure. But no one inspi made them build a religiously psychotic grimdark space sims but the creators. This game is absolutely taking direct inspo from Warhammer, which practically invented the genre of "Religious space war Simulator". And that's ok. This game doesn't seem similar. It is. And very likely on purpose. @@tennesseedogpack

*millions and millions of bodies*
Keep in mind its millions dying over the course of 800 years of largely static and siege based warfare. With much of the fighting being confined to an expanse of land stretching only from Egypt to the Levant. Most of the rest of the World is fine and most of the church factions are foreign soldiers come to due battle with Hells legions.

Yo this is sick
oh, i am a new sub. I look forward to seeing more my dude =)
If I had a dollar for every mispronunciation comment 💀
