What about camera events being recorded, do those show up? Or are those missing too? I don't need 24/7 recording with solar but I was hoping I could still have the nest cam record motion/events/packages while on solar. Can you confirm please? Thank you!
Great Video! I had no idea there were all these options. Just to confirm, with the 3 in 1 floodlight mount has no remote or manual controls to adjust the brightness, length of time or sensitivity of the light?
Great video, thank you! I have 3 cameras outside. Might try the gutter mount/solar panel. Was wondering your thoughts on Nest Secure no longer available after April 2024? Not sure what to do? Thanks
I never had a chance to use Nest Secure but that certainly is a bummer. I can't remember what the ADT promo offer is but it seemed like a pretty great deal that allows you to try out for 1 year for free.
Great review. Question, could I mount the gutter mount upside down?? There's an ridge underneath my window still that would be perfect, I think. If I retract the solar panel as much as possible it shouldn't obstruct the view of the camera? Approx how much does it all weigh together (mount, camera and premium solar panel)?
How is streaming live view for you? I couldn’t put my nest router closer to my camera unless I drilled a hole in the exterior wall and it is choppy and laggy. The recording’s and notifications are great. I use nest Wi-Fi. Thanks.
It depends on the day. Some days the cameras load up instantly and other days I am stuck waiting for way longer than I wand to to see the feed, but it does eventually load.
The only others I have set up is a Wyze cam. The streaming feed from their app works well and it was just added into the Google Home app but haven't seen any better performance. I have been looking into Reolink as a good option.
@@TechWithBrett I’ve got Wyze and eufy up and recently my google home app marked them as cameras but can’t get the feeds sadly. Hoping that resolves soon.
Awesome video, thank you. I had no idea there were ethernet adapters for cameras like this. Our whole house is wired for ethernet for an old school Lorex system that we had many years ago before the age of wireless cameras. All of those cables are still run through the whole house to various points outside, I just never had any ability to plug in newer cameras into those cables because they all require regular power. I'm definitely going to try the POE adapter
Oh man, im in a wheelchair and cant get the cameras down to charge them, only last about 2 weeks now and i have to call my brothers to come help me. I want to get the solar panels but im wondering will jt record events at least? Or else whats the point?
Yes it will record events just like when it is on battery power, it will just be getting a charge through the day from the solar panel. If you want consistent recording it would need to be plugged into a power source.
Just a reminder to people looking to do this is that if the battery fails on this camera it won't bypass the battery. My battery is failing and the camera cuts out constantly and shows no battery even though it is always plugged in using the weatherproof cable
@techwithbrett Can you please tell me how good the microphone is at picking up sound/people talking when you’re in your yard and not only 2ft from the camera? I’m curious to know if you can hear a conversation between people talking at normal volume in your yard or if it doesn’t pick up anything being said?
@@TechWithBrett no I live in Ireland. I have 2 of them one does work fine plugged in the other says plugged in but no infinity ♾️ sign. Im using the 5m outdoor cable from Google. I've contacted them about it and they won't replace either the cable or the camera really disappointed in it
None of my cameras acknowledge being plugged in while recording nor do they show up on the camera profile always runs off battery regardless of being plugged in
@@TechWithBrett Thanks. I was trying to avoid drilling through a brick wall to get constant power to my cameras and I thought this will solve that problem. Looks like I am back to square one
So there is no way to get 24/7 recording using solar? darn... I just bought the camera and solar and its getting here tomorrow. I was hoping that it would record 24/7. Welp, back to the drawing board...
Don't waste your time with this. It's amazing how disgusting these new Nest cameras are as you can literally walk upright up to it and it can't even see you.
Check out all the products shown today here: amzn.to/3mMpeX9
It's sad that the 24/7 solar still does not record full time.
Thanks!
Thank you!
I have this brand solar panels on two of my blink cameras for about a year now. They have been flawless.
Solar Best upgrade, great review 👍
It is pretty awesome that it can keep the Nest Cam charged up.
Great video. I installed solar panels from a different company and they are not working out. Good to know the 3.5 ones work well.
The outdoor indoor battery camera does not last 4 months. It only lasts about 2-4 weeks which is an aggravation.
lower the quality and events
Great video I wanted to get the solar panels but without the ability to record 24/7 😢 I'm out
And I am subscribing great job

Hey Debra! It has been awhile since I have seen your name. I hope all is well. Thanks for watching!
I have the Wasserstein for my Wyze Outdoor camera plugged into tree about 25 feet away on my backyard.
How'd you do that with a 13' cable?

hey do you by chance have a link to the tri pod used in this video?
Do you want the one I put the Nest camera on or one I use for my actual video camera?

That is great to hear you have cables already run. That makes the upgrade super easy.
I read Lorex as Lorax for a second and was VERY confused lol
How do I get 24/7 recording if not near plug - travel battery?
great job! thank you. Keep up the good work. I'm a big Nest fan. Only one thing I have to go back and forth from the Nest app to the Google Home app.
Have you tried migrating any cameras to the Home app yet? I will make a video on that soon.
@@TechWithBrett Hmmm no sir! I didn't know you could that. If you can do that, That would be awesome!
Annoyed that Google didn't use a USB-C or micro plug for their cameras so we're not forced to buy an overpriced Wasserstein solar panel..
$50 for a solar panel that’s compatible with a google camera is overpriced?
the avg price for panels is ~30$ so yes.
Does the Floodlight work with a premium solar panel? or does it only work with power grid?
It only works with being wired into the power.
@@TechWithBrett Thanks!
Thanks for the helpful and instructional the video!
Any chance you would list the settings that gets you 4 months??

how do you still connect this with the solar panel if the connector on the camera itself do not match?
It looks like you might have received the wrong panel. You might be able to look up a converter cable.
Meters?
