I'm a knitter crocheter and cross stitcher for over 40 years. I have never seen this "fusion". Make a crochet fabric then cross stitch on it. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant way to add images to crochet without having to figure out how to color change! Especially with yarn that is difficult to see the stitches! Thanks for sharing 😊
Tips for cross stitch! - cut a length of yarn about the length of your arm. - weave in the tail when making your first stitches. - every few stitches, hold up your project and drop your needle (still attached to the yarn) it will untangle the yarn. You can carry on once it's stopped spinning. Happy crafting!!!!!
@@myshestudio no worries!!! I always used to do that to, and found that tip somewhere and always have to pass it one when I see someone doing the same teehee. It really makes it a lot more relaxing!! 💕💕
@@myshestudio don't worry! It's a common mistake when starting cross stitch. Because we tend to take really large amounts of thread (yarn in this case) in order to avoid having to constantly make knots/weaving in ends. But having such long strands just makes it easier for the thread/yarn to get tangled more frequently. I'd say for large scale projects (like this one) or when making a border, cutting the length of your strands maybe twice the length of your arm can help too. Also, cross stitching in the same direction can help make the back neater and saves a bit of yarn so it doesn't run out so fast.
Hey.. ive got a question if you dont mind.. Should i always weave in the end before starting to use a new piece of yarn? Or is there a better way where i wont have tangled yarn at the back of my work?
you're a lifesaver!!! I just finished a tote bag with tapestry crochet and it was a nightmare when I had to make color changes 😭😭 it didn't turn out the size I wanted but I was so not making another one, but after your video I will try making a bigger one using the cross stitch method, so THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing 💖💖💖
You're welcome!! This technique is sooo much easier than tapestry crochet (it's a nightmare to me as well 😭), hope you enjoy making your next tote bag with cross stitch!!! 🥹💞
I made a little frog!! It’s not my creation but I found a pixelated pic online!! They are cute!! The way you do the stitching really makes it cute!!!❤️❤️❤️
I love pixel studio for tapestry and cross stitch. I use the dithering tool to darken my pixels while i work. Theyll be marked out but i can still see the pattern.
Since you’re doing it this way instead of the traditional crochet along with multiple yarn, I highly suggest glue on the back to keep the yarn in place, like what people do with rug tuffing. I might try this but I prefer crochet weaves along.
I love you for doing this. Watching graphgan w.e made me cry hahahah I just wanted a cute hello kitty on the project im making and it's super hard with 100% crochet technique
Love the tutorial! Would you advise using this method for a pillow? I’m just worried about how much yarn would be needed in ratio to just switching the colours? I love this technique but I’m not too sure 😅 Can’t wait to see more videos from you!
Thank you so much!! ☺️🫶 I'd say that if you know how to switch colors easily in crochet, it might be better to use that technique instead of cross-stitch because you'll save yarn haha this technique is really for those who find it hard to change colors (like me 🥹🤭)
Thank you so much for sharing! I want to make a gift for a friend, but the pattern I created is very detailed and I'm afraid that with tapestry crochet the edges will look ugly 😅 your technique looks much easier and cleaner looking and the explanation is very easy to understand (unlike other tutorials I found)
Hi myshe, ohmigosh! I’m so, so, SO happy I came across your tutorial ❤❤❤, been looking for something like this for ages. I was wondering if you’d be willing to make a tutorial on how to sew a piece of fabric BY HAND on your finished cross stitch crochet project? I have no sewing machine and I’d love to learn how to line something like this, pretty please?
Ahh, thank you so much for the feedback! 😍 I’d love to help with that! I’m finishing up this week’s tutorial but after that I’ll definitely work on recording the hand-sewing tutorial for you! I’m so happy you found the tutorial helpful, can’t wait to share more soon! 💞
The brand is 'Melissa' but honestly I just use it because it's the only one local shops near me sell. If you can't find this one, any other could work ☺️❤️
Hi! Are you talking about the base or after adding the colored pixels? My base doesn't line up perfectly either, some rows lean a bit to the right and others to the left, but once I add the colors you can't really tell :) let me know if this helps!
Thanks for sharing your design..may i ask when making the rows of single crochet at the 5th and as i add the rows it become narrower, pls help. Thank you
Hi! The piece might be narrowing if stitches are accidentally skipped at the start or end of each row. Make sure you’re crocheting into the very first and last stitches to keep the width consistent. Also, try to keep the tension even, as pulling too tightly can make the work shrink. If you'd like feel free to send me a photo on Instagram, it's easier for me to spot the issue that way! :)
@@myshestudio thank you so much it's so kind of you to help. I do cross stiching and it's the first time I saw your design I didn't know you can cross stich on crochet they are so cute i will make the spider man design for my grandson. Thanks again..
Oh no! Are you talking about the base or the cross-stitching? If you have IG, feel free to show me a picture in DM. I'm curious to see it and help you! I'd suggest trying a smaller hook, but I assume you've already done that since you mentioned 'changing hooks.'
It's heavier than just changing colors, so if you know how to do both, I'd suggest using the 'traditional' method of color changes. I have a cardigan with the back made of cross-stitch, and I still love it! (Though I'm not sure if the whole cardigan made with cross-stitch would feel too heavy.)
Yes, exactly! If your design is 70 by 90, that would mean 70 stitches across and 90 rows. Each stitch and row will correspond to a 'pixel' in your design. If you’re not entirely sure about the height, you can leave the crochet unfinished, and add more rows if needed, even after you start the cross-stitching. Does that make sense? 😊
@myshestudio thanks so much!!! That makes perfect sense! Yes I was thinking about working from the bottom up so if I need to add more rows I can just add more as I keep progressing upwards. Thanks for responding!
Yup! It feels "stiff", I wouldnt recommend for a blanket unless you want to create small pixel designs only. If you want I can send you an up close video on IG, it's probably easier to decide if it works on your project or not! ☺️

Pixel Studio to create new designs, and Pinterest for inspo/existing pixel designs :)
