Oh my goodness, you DID do a full tutorial!!! I will be watching this ON REPEAT and learning along for the upcoming days and weeks to come... NO JOKE!!!
hoo boy, probably shouldnt have started with such a large custom pixel grid for my first time + with wooden hooks haha thank you for making this! have been looking to get into this for a while now, love how its turning out! 💙
Thanks Kat! It's just what I was looking for, I had been wondering for a while how I can hide the base color, but until now I hadn't found anyone who could explain it.
Thank you !! I have been trying to find simple and clean explanation of Tunisian crochet + crossstitch and this checked the box, finally. I do want to ask, if you have multiple colors, would you recommend floating ?? Or simply using less yarn and tucking it in as you go along?
Thank you for the update! Question why go down a hook size for the hook? I watched a few videos on the simple stitch (that you recommended in the previous video to do), and one says to go up a hook size to prevent the curling. I wasn’t sure the rationale for going down.
@@raer7907 my rationale for going down in hook size is to make it easier hide the fabric underneath when cross stitching! i find it helps make the cross stitches look tighter/more square as well. yes, it absolutely will curl before cross stitching, but after cross stitching it will lay flat
@@L1LL3RS they do! i have a set from amazon and even if its a bit too small, these hooks have stoppers at their end so the yarn is able to scrunch at the end of the hook
Hey Kat- any recommendations for tunisian crochet hooks? Brand, material (wood, plastic, aluminum), in-line or tapered? With or without cords? Do the crochet hooks themselves come in different lengths? I'm gonna need to go online and start looking asap lol
@@thethriftyfawn i bought a set off of amazon! mine are metal tapered hooks with stoppers at the ends and no cords. im actually not sure if they come in different lengths! im pretty sure there is just 1 standard length for them and theyre pretty long (like the one i used in the video) i hope this helps at least a little🫶🏻✨
@@katsscorner Would you consider leaving a link for them in the video description and/or pinned comment? Could be helpful for viewers who are not familiar with these hooks 😊
would cross stitching make the piece more "stiff"? i want to make a blanket and im stuck between hybrid floating the yarn or giving cross stitching a go. im just worried the pixel pieces would be hard or stiff lol.
@@shellyshelly71 1- it depends on how much effort you put in! if you weave them in like i demonstrated it will be neat but if you dont weave them it will be messy. 2- i would imagine using this for tapestries or patches in which case the back wouldnt be showing!
could NOT get my eyes off the Joseph mousepad 😭

@@himewillow i used less yarn and tuck it all in, but ive seen others who float! its mostly personal preference
Awesome, that's what I wanted to know, thanks ! I can't wait to try it out in a stardew valley crops tapestry for my office ☺️

I want to make a crochet tapestry with that is 50 by 50. Do you know if they sell hooks long enough for that?

you should be famous
Famous in progress is what she is 😊
Is there anything special to do for the left and right edge for cross stitching?
@@willowuwu2948 nope! just cross stitch to each edge and it should straighten out naturally

@@jekvarnell2438 unfortunately it does get more stiff, but i dont know how it would look with a softer yarn- i am using acrylic
