Lifetime windows user here and i bought a space black m16 m3 pro two weeks ago. Got used to it faster than expected. Supurb screen, sound and quiet device. 20hours of battery life without any problem. MacOS needs some tweaking and tuning with a few opensource and paid apps. Yes it's a bit heavy but i don't care. Expensive? yes. Is it worth it? yes.
Usefull thanks
What did you do for tweaking and tuning?

I have m3 version, do u really get 20 hrs backup?
What all work you did on ur mac, and u got 20hrs of battery backup?
Not me watching this video with my new M3 MacBook Pro I bought yesterday 😅
M3 MacBook Pro or M3 Pro MacBook Pro?
Yeah I’ve been loving mine, I’ve only got the 11/14 core version and it’s beast. Destroys Davinci resolve and adobe after effects for what I need it for.
I got mine yesterday too lmao. I got the M3 pro 11/14 core 512gb and have it on installments with the apple card
Same here. I bought 1 month ago. Just love my mac😊
@@SharrodVisualsYeah. That's the configuration I'm looking to upgrade to. I currently have a late 2018 intel based MBP with the i5 and 8gb ram. I for sure am do for a newer faster laptop. How does the new laptop handle thermal wise? Can it stay cool even when used on lap? Thats one of the main reason for me upgrading to a new one.
First time Mac owner here and I have zero regrets switching over to Mac OS.
Does yours come with OS Sonoma installed? Could you check and tell?
@@LS-wt4vp yes, Sonoma 14.1 for me
Great Video Arthur!!!
Mine is coming tomorrow 🙌🏾
I will be going with the macbook M3 Pro for its longevity. All the other new features are a plus. Would also like to start doing some drum covers and editing videos.
I have an intel MacBook Pro from 2017, it’s getting really old and senile. Should I upgrade to the M1 MacBook Pro for cheaper, and maybe sell it and upgrade to m4 next year? Or jump to m3 and feel regret when m4 comes out?
I want to purchase the m3pro or max, currently I do not own an apple laptop at all. For me it is important that ii can hold it fore 8 years or longer. Main purpose, Davinci and Photoshop. What do you reckon? 700 EUR more for the max instead of pro?
Just picked mines up today after returning the 15 inch M3 air.
What should i choose between a macpro m3 24 gb ram, 512gb ssd and macpro m3 pro 18gb ram 512gb? Same price but different ram and chip. I do code but not really heavy, however i want to keep this mac for like 5 years lol
I have an early 2015 macbook pro with intel and am getting the macbook m3 pro which I think is gonna be a great upgrade!
Definitely let us know how it goes for you and what you are using it for regularly. I recently "upgraded" from my late 2015 MacBook Pro 15" 4-core i7 intel to a 2019 16" 6-core i7 intel. I went to Best Buy yesterday and came across the 2023 14" 14-core M3 Pro and I am torn now hahaha. Sense would say to get the M3 Pro but ..... I'm old school so why fix what hasn't broken yet, and if it's not broke then don't touch hahaha Anyway, good luck and I would be interested to know your experience(s).
@@CubanFireball81 that’s why I haven’t upgraded yet. My MacBook still works fine but it is getting slower and I can tell. And I will!
You didn't know that you will see dust on dark surfaces? That is why I always go with silver option.
The M3 is an M2 + 15% speed + far better Blender developed 3D graphics. The 15% speedup comes from the first gen 3nm tech from TSMC. TSMC is now working on at least 3 new versions plus possibly a 2nm line. Apple is driving the 3D graphics for both their Vision and gaming programs. During M2 development, it was found the M2 3D graphics were getting hot and draining the battery, so Apple put the M1 graphics back into the M2, fired lots of people and joined the Blender Consortium to sort things out. These two lines of development (TSMC and Blender) became the M3.
@arthurwiner where did you buy your glasses?
I'm having a unique issue recently. I have a M3 Macbook Pro. For video backups, I bought a 16TB external drive. From other drives, I copied about 12TB of files onto that one 16TB drive and, afterwards, the drive would not remount when being reconnected. It remounted in the beginning. I checked. But, after putting about 12TB onto the 16TB drive, it wouldn't remount. I thought it was the Seagate drive, so I bought a Western Digital 16TB drive. Exact same thing happened. Copied some files over. Unmounted it. Plugged it back in. Remounted fine. When I was done copying over about 12TB of files, it wouldn't remount.
I found one other person on Reddit experienced the same issue. Tried all the silly (or concerning) Apple suggestions, like plug it into another slot! But, nothing helped. Anyone else having this issue? Don't know if there's a TB threshold for external drives that isn't supported by this M3 Macbook Pro.
Could you share How is your battery life ? Because I am going to buy a new laptop, I am a C++ Dev, and want to try a macbook pro m3 16, and watched other of your videos that talk about battery life.
hello, thanks a lot for this review, please, I 'm editing with a lots of effects, green screen and background removal in Movavi, and my Macbook air M2 18GB is freezing, lagging all the time, even emptying the optimization files folder..So I consider to buy a macbook pro, but…which one? and would 36GB ram be enough? thanks a lot
Hey! I bought the m3 pro with 36RAM and it's really smooth. Sure more Ram - better. But I think 36GB Ram is really good and enough to cut videos while use some tabs, Spotify,... I tested a bit and the RAM but also just have the laptop for 4 days :)
I don’t really need the performance, but coming from a gaming pc with an 4k OLED monitor I could never go back to 60hz on an LCD Panel.
Hi, Thanks for the video.
I still using my 2017 iMac 5k with 8GB AMD Graphics for my video editing work.
Is M3 Pro good enough or should I buy M3 Max instead?
Thank you
Pro will be just fine. It will be many times faster than what you have right now.
Great video. I updated because I am coming from an intel chip 2018 early year 13 inch. I have a purchase of the m3 16 inch purchased and awaiting its delivery. I am hoping that I will love the upgrade after 6 years. I believe that get an over powered unit for my practical use gives the MacBook a longer life with updates, technology and demand. Cheers 🎉
Hard for me to upgrade my m2 air 13”, it’s lite and pretty solid when I comes to performance.
8 months ago, I was using just a normal acer aspire with I5-10th gen and with self upgrade of 20gb RAM. I throw android studio, vscode, kubernetes, docker, WSL, vmware. one thing I say it is quite laggy when I do everything at the same time or any such workload. Then I thought, should I buy any apple product such as mac pro or mac air. And then, one day. I decided to give Macbook Air 2020 with M1 chip with 8GB RAM and 256gb ssd a chance to live with me. I was impressed despite it only have 8gb RAM, it can withstand everything i said above. not as good as Mac Pro I believe. but it still enjoyable doing such workload without feeling lagging and not responding all the time. That is why I'm here today, to see whether I deserved an upgrade or not for Mac Pro (probably M3 Max) for future proof. at least for 5 years.
If any of the workload I said above is to heavy for such workload, do I deserver an upgrade? comment below.
FINALLY NEW VIDDD!!!
Confused between the 14 inch m3 pro, 512 gb, 18gb vs 36gb or the 16 inch m3 max 14c/30c,36 gb 1 tb ssd. My needs are 4k video editing, lightroom and photoshop. I want the max but if m3 pro is enough, I don't want to overspend. Please help me make the right decision.
5:50 - Why not use Windows in a VM? Then you could also even run an eGPU? Surely the M3 Pro has the power to do that comfortably...?
I'm using Aftereffects (mainly making 2D motion graphics) and considering studying C4D. What would you recommend?

Been using M2 air 13" for 5 months and 0 regrets so far well done Apple.
Same for 15’’
Had an m2 air for 8 months and it just wasn’t doing that well for me. I sold it and switched back to my mbp early 2015 one. Thinking of upgrading to m3 pro though.
Same here. I had a 2016 MBP and went with the air this time. It does everything I need including editing in davinci resolve. I like the thinner MB Air better.
@@m.a36what was wrong with it? Performance? Size?
@@committed2thecoreIf it wasn't for the several complaints across the internet about thermal throttling I would definitely go for the Air.
It's thinner, lighter and looks way better than the pro version imo.
I'm sticking with my maxed out M1 Pro 16" until it dies
5 years? I’m just coming up to replacing my MacBook Pro 2013.
My wife is still using my old 2012 Macbook Pro without any problems.

Man I need some suggestions now, as I am planning to buy a Mac soon and I need it for next 7 to 8 years max, so is M3 pro a good choice or base M3 MacBook Pro is enough .... Though I need good storage so in the end it's coming to MacBook Pro M3 pro..... Any suggestions or advice guys and yea I am a student.
Either go with M3 Air or M3 Pro. The M3 is pointless.
@@ennuiedactually the m3 is not pointless because it still beats the air in display, ports and having a fan for sustained CPU power, plus speakers. But yeah, m3 pro is the way to go I guess
I went M3 max instead of M3 pro. Previously I had a 14in M2Pro, and M2 mini. There was little value in upgrading to the M3Pro. The is no perceptible difference between the two. The M3 max came with all kinds of bonuses, you can feel the power difference even in browsers, productivity apps, and virtual machines. However, you can really feel the battery life loss too even in low power mode. You can feel the difference in screen brightness and frame rate on the M3 max. Invest a few hundred bucks more if you can for the max. If not, strongly recommend the 14. M2Pro!!!
How much gb ram did you go for?
Do you consider $1200 a few hundred bucks? 😂
@@OShackHennessy he’s talking about if you consider going for the m3 pro then he would recommend going for the max instead :)
@@prodyjuj yes I know, and the difference between the two base models is $1200
@@OShackHennessy oh okay😔
is it also good for game developing ?
Yes. Even better, you won't be competing with the Microsoft hegemony for customers.
Been a windows user for years. Currently in college and needed a laptop that's powerful enough and very good battery. Decided to give in to apple and bought my first ever MBP which was the 14 inch M1 Pro. Missed gaming, Sold it and bought a G14 2022. Realized that it's a good on the go gaming machine. But work related stuff + uni. It's very bad. Horrible Battery Life, Not as fast compared to it being plugged in for a charge. Sold it, Bought a MBP 14 Inch M3 Pro. Currently typeng this right now with it and boi. I LOVE IT! I will not be selling this thing anymore. I have no decided to just buy a computer if I wanted to game. Keep my work/uni related life separate from the gaming haha.
Thank you very much for sharing. That's exactly my scenario!
I would say that my g14 2022 is a decent machine but no more than that.
Not because it's bad but because it's an expensive mid-term imo:
1 - As a gaming machine, lacks of the power and cooling features of a desktop.
2 - As a laptop has an inconveniently heavy and big power brick plus miserable battery life.
Does yours come with OS Sonoma installed? Could you check and tell?
Or you could study, and buy a gaming company when you graduate.
@@LS-wt4vp yes! It does
@@oakacc952 exactly this 🙌
I don't comment on videos but wanted to here; I appreciate this video and your angle. I might do a light video edit very rarely but bought this M3 Pro for office work and web browsing. I struggled between this or waiting for the M3 Air 15 next month. I ended with the M3 pro for the future proofing, screen, ports, external refresh rate, and color. It's hard to watch all the video reviews because while I get the unit is focused to content creators and so, there are normal office uses like me that want a great device and will pay the extra few hundred after you consider the Air 15 price after Ram and SSD upgrade. $300 more for future proof and the screen… absolutely in my opinion. I traded in my M2 Air 13 as the screen was a little to small so I know the abilities of the air
M3 pro for videos and office is way too overkill to say the least. If what you were after was a larger screen the 15' air M2 was definitely the way to go, the performance gap is very small between M2 and M3 and in your workflow (of watching videos and office) very much unnoticeable.
If you cherry pick features like 120hz refresh rate then even the MacBook pro with the M3 was a better deal, at that point you are just paying more for performance that you won't need at all. If I were in your case I would go for a MacBook Air with M2 and 512/1TB storage .
Same opinion here. Paid extra/wasted the $$ so I could get the 36G to run parallels and a Windows VM because my Windows laptop has been less than 100% reliable. This is more than enough machine, but buy once, cry once is sensible advice because it's not upgradeable. My previous to the previous laptop was a Lenovo X230. I was able to upgrade to SSD, 16G and Windows 10. The replacement was maxed out, I had high hopes, but two years later, regrets. Survey says, Apple has the best hardware. I think it'll meet my needs for 5 years.
Exactly what I did too lol considering the price after upgrading the MacBook Air.
Hi, I'm having a hard time looking for M3 Pro 8K HDR 60fps editing here in UA-cam. Can it playback and edit 8K HDR 60fps? I'm using MacBook Air M1, I'm planning to upgrade with right budget.
Grab the M3 Max for that and do a RAM upgrade.
I think even an m2 air will give you tremendous boost here. The hardware media engines make a huge difference in video processing, but they’re not on the m1 airs but every chip after.
@@semperfitygaming5619 need a ton of RAM to do 8K60 editing. MacBook Air only tops out at 24GB of RAM.
Did you face a color-chipping issue in Space Black?
I have it and I didn’t. I’ve had it since launch
Do you have any scuffs, scratches or discolouration on the space place ?
you didn't even watch the first minute of the video. 😂😂😂
@@mavfan1 did he talk about it ? Specifically or did u fantasise?
What's absolutely crazy about the M3 processor compared to the older Intels, is that a fan never turns on even when you're doing intensive CPU workloads for short amount of time. The older ones you could fry an egg on them and they would sound like a jet engine. If you get one of these make sure you buy as much RAM as you could possibly afford, you may think that 32 gigs is it ridiculous amount but you'll thank yourself later.
Cleaned my space black MacBook Pro once in 3 months 🤣. Maybe it’s the flock lined case it lives in that keeps or clean.
Planing for M3 Pro. Is it a good choice for music production, guys?
It's incredible for music production Hope that helps!
I’d go for a refurbished M2 Pro, some people say it’s better for music production because there’s more performance cores. Unless you’re always on the go and need better battery life.
yes I'm using mine just for music production and runs smooth and fast
@centereddev @centereddev yes, I watched a video on this regards too. Also, my other opinion is to go for M2 Pro, with 16gb, 12 core CPU (out of which 8 p-core & 4 e-core), which has 19 core GPU too?
@@centereddevdepends what people..are those people in a full time band and having deals with labels ? I doubt that a solo artist would feel a difference. You can get by even with the airs
Is 8 gigs of ram enough for a student???
Love mine
I will be using my laptop for uni, a lot of internet surfing, etc, but I also want longevity (at least 5 years). So I know I will have to go with 16gb ram, and since 256gb is too low, the 512gb SSD upgrade as well for the m3 MBA. From there its only abt 400 higher for the M3 pro MBP, which has a better screen, more ports, a faster processor, etc. Is it worth getting the MBP or should I get the MBA?
Only if your course is multimedia or you need to do 3D rendering or coding. The Air with bumped up RAM should do well for most uni tasks, even some video editing as side projects. And you may not think it in the moment, but the "slight" weight difference of the MBA is a plus factor for students or anyone who's constantly on the go. It's not gonna be "slight" if you have to lug the thing around for hours and hours.
@@ongjanette I will be doing Economics for undergrad so i guess the air is better? update to the price though, I could get the MBP m3 pro for 1850, which means it is only 350 more than the air
@@zaidarafath7859 if you can afford it, always go for the higher priced better-spec'd model. And for me that's 16RAM/1TB at least across the board. I know reviewers always say external SSD would be cheaper, but really, who wants to attach a dongle drive everytime you open your laptop? 😝 Now, whether Air or Pro, it's down to what you can afford or what will make you happy. 😊 Sometimes, for long term use, one can always shell out a few hundred bucks more. But never more than the cash you have on hand. That "few hundred bucks more" has several tiers Apple can upsell you with. 😝
@@zaidarafath7859i had an air 2018 macbook. Since the last 2 years it had been working great with many hours on it. After that things got crazy. Battery is weak, the fan goes crazy and its crazy slow most of the time. amazing how a choice of colour can take so much time on a video to buy a laptop : ). is that so important ?

I am very excited to upgrade in a few weeks to the Macbook Pro M3 Pro!
Writing this comment on my 12 year old (!) 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (back in the day it was the first time Steve Jobs introduced the retina display) which i bought when starting college in 2012 for a wopping 2700 euros of student money. What a journey it has been for me with this device! It stood with me during my 6 years of college, i wrote my master thesis with this laptop, i wrote my girlfriend (now wife)'s master thesis with this laptop, i started my first wedding photography business with this laptop around 2018 which made me a ton of money and now currently my wife is using this laptop for her own baby photography business that she started and she still using this laptop for professional photoshop editing! UNBELIEVABLE. It's crazy to look back on the journey! But it's time to move on, I am sure the Macbook Pro M3 Pro will be worth every penny over the long run too and i hope to write a similar comment in 2036!!
I’m going from no laptop to needing one for video editing
Can you please compare M2 max vs M3 pro? Which would be better?
for what?
The M3 is an M2 + 15% speed + far better Blender developed 3D graphics.
I just got the Black macbook and im wanting to keep this for manyvyears to come future proof wish me luck. Long term better investment

The battery is completely false, I bought my MacBook Pro m3 only 2 weeks ago straight from apple and it only lasts me 3-4 hour on blender.
I am an intel based mac user. Finally made the upgrade.
is this 144hz
18GB of RAM is just not enough for 4K60fps video editing. Premiere Pro ends up hogging memory, it used 18GB of RAM working with 4K60fps videos. Thats with zero color correction and just doing voiceovers on the video project. You'll need 36GB of RAM for that. If you do crazy color corrections or something complicated, grab the M3 Max and upgrade the RAM to 64GB or 128GB of it, depending on what you're doing, work off the external drives.
I like mine (2 weeks old) and I’ll probably only use 50% of its power and don’t care, it’s gonna be able to handle the next 10 years

When you said we should perhaps wait until the M 5 comes out.... I had a chill run down my spine! Why? Well, in the Star Trek series/universe, there was a remarkable computer known as the M-5 Multitronic System. This advanced artificial intelligence was designed by the brilliant scientist Dr. Richard Daystrom during the mid-23rd century. We all know that many are saying that AI...or rather, artificial intelligence might be the end of us all. Wouldn't that be funny if by the time the Mac M 5 is released.... it will be a completely new AI computer laptop!!! If Scotty were here.... I would asked to get beamed up!!! Ha ha.....
For anyone having or have experience with MacBook Pros, what are everyone’s thoughts of trading in an 15 inch m2 MacBook Air for the M3 Pro Base version?? I was thinking of getting 32gb ram but I’m sure 18gb ram would be perfect for everything + multitasking right??
I'm watching this on my 16inch MacBook Pro m3 pro lol
Is the macbook pro with 11 cpu and 18 gpu with 18gb of ram good enough for editing 4k videos and creating thumbnails?

"Faster SSD degradation" - yet you have no data on such a claim. Are you caught up in some sort of spec war? How likely do you think a MBA SSD will fail after say 5 years, or 7 years? And the proposal to "future proof" is another spec war talking point with little support in reality.
