Writing and acting are different things. A straight man playing a gay man in a movie takes a job from a gay actor. People should realize this problem from the frauds who acted in old westerns and portrayed native characters and they continue to be a problem today. Cody Iron Eyes and Sacheen Littlefeather whose real names were Espera Oscar de Corti and Maria Louise Cruz, respectively. They took jobs from actual natives and doubled down on their appropriation. Is black face ok to y'all? It's just acting! No writer can tell the same story or come up with different characters, but anyone can act. Would you two have laughed about this problem if we were still in the 1500s? Ya know, when women were played by men because we weren't allowed to act? I love this network, but y'all need to think more about some things before y'all say and giggle about. People of a certain race or background were not always able to act. If you're a woman and can't acknowledge the problem with taking cultural jobs away from the people of that culture then maybe you should visit and listen to minorities?
