Finally recognition for the cadets 2015. I feel like I've been solo glazing that show for 9 years. Absolutely insane demand and achievement, especially that hornline. Up there with the most difficult and impressive shows in "modern drum corps" with crown 2012
I totally agree with Allen about BC 2015. That show has been my favorite show of all time since the first time hearing it. I can’t watch the ending without getting full body chills. Such an impactful show
This is the kind of content I’ve been dying for. Should have said something. Do this for drums, all sub section, all brass subsections, and guard and subsections. PWETTY PWEASE!!!?!?!?!????!?!?!??!??
I was a freshman in HS back in 2014 when I was first introduced to Drum Corp. (I like to describe this as the golden era) As I’m listening to this video, It feels like I’m sitting down with you guys reflecting over all the wonderful memories. You guys touched on all of my favorite shows and even the people who inspired me growing up. Kendall has always been my favorite drum major. SCV Mello line in 2017 is UNDERRATED! Kinetic noise is as innovative as it gets and stands the test of time. Felliniesque 99.65 almost feels like an unreachable mark to this point. I CAN KEEP GOING HAHAHAHA
if there’s anything i would wanna see it’s probably you guys reacting to more indoor percussion shows!! I would love to see the way you would approach stuff like that!!
All these segments are on a constant rotation for me! I’m glad that even as just a spectator, I share these opinions and obsessions over these specific videos with you guys! Keep it coming!!! Can’t wait to see more!
The first time I saw Bluecoats at the opening show in 2015, I couldn’t believe my ears. Nothing had ever sounded anything like that show up to that point. I distinctly remember having to grab my friend on the shoulder in the theater when the synthesized trumpets led into the first impact. I cannot stress how completely unheard of that sound was; myself and everyone I heard talk about the show said it was a game changer, and it totally was, even if it’s not as remembered as I wish it would be. I didn’t realize one of you got to march it, and I am forever a little bit jealous.
Can we go back much further? 1996 Phantom Regiment hornline was unbelievable. The chords they put out in the closer were pitch perfect. The amount of sound produced was deafening but in a good way. I truly believe there has not been a closer like this since. People were throwing their babies as the show ended.
That Crown moment is my all time favorite for CC. I really hated the show design from trampolines to frisbies, it was just a bad design until the closer. The music, however, was just perfect. Thanks for showing it. I downloaded it just for the music.
Would love to see a part 2! This is one of my favorite hornline videos for tone and balance: 2010 SCV Brass Line Sings Chorale w/ T Andre Feagin @ Walnut, CA
Not a BD fan at all, but OMG that was freaking amazing what they did in 2017. I just remember watching it in person and was like, no one is going to beat that.
I was lucky to have one of my caption heads for open class to have marched SCV 2017 and 18 as well as one that marched Phantom 2008. I got so good in the two season I marched with them teaching us.
Crown 2014 was insane it’s like they wanted to give a middle finger to the whole world and say “you cannot write something harder than this”, and then just incase that wasn’t impressive enough “oh see those trumpets and mellos? Yeah those are our tuba players”. They had something to prove and they did it.
👀Speaking of scv mellos, you're talking about folks like Ben Caroll, for sure (Carrol? forgive me). He played the le mis solo, (god tier shit, most all otm). He told us about how he trained for that year. Started most days with a banana and black coffee, ran a bunch of laps then picked 'er up first thing and busted that shit out. Like every day, all season. Claimed it was so that he'd always be nails. The results speak for themselves, i think. He's a monster horn player too which is way im glad you mentioned their horn like quality. Big intervals, rips and licks! Vanguard is always good to the mellos. They function like horns in their writing and they deliver when it counts. IYKYK🤑 i digress. when you mentioned their mello lines, it made me remember, and I had to throw some respect on ben and all the scv mellos.
Alan I want to know if you remember meeting me at the McDonald’s after the Broken Arrow show in 2017. I kinda freaked out when you and malik walked in😂😂 still have the picture. Thanks for being so dope
Yall should watch the video that crown has out there as to how they make their tunning notes as one and how attention to detail they focus on tonguing and attacking the note
Love the content guys! As an old timer who marched in the early 90’s, I’m curious if you guys have any favorite hornlines from the 80’s/90’s? The lines may not have been as dynamic as now, but there still were some pretty incredible hornline moments. Especially when you consider what a lot of us were playing on.
Kyoto Tachibana, world's most talented highschool marching band, will be back in 2025 to make the US Rose Parade great again🥳🎉 ua-cam.com/video/q4s_SvR7jno/v-deo.htmlsi=dC9lgtw8M-isMBvb
funliner hype house ?💀

MAN IVE BEEN SAYING CROWN 2014 IS THE MOST UNDERRATED SHOW FOR YEARS
I read this comment right before they announced it in the video lol
@@essdsadad6793 oh shit i should join funliner i commented before watching the video 🤓🤓🤓
Bad show, god like brass
they just weren't as hot on the move, but great book great players
Drum line placing 7th didn’t help
Having a space to just geek tf out; Funliner might just be the most important channel in dci history for members and alumni.
YESSSSSSS HES HERE!!! GOTTA GET MY GOAT MALIK IN TOO!!!
It’s so funny watching yall light up at every moment and become a little brass director with all the hand things
*brass hands*

SCV 2018 needs a segment. From a spectator standpoint, the most INSANE experience I've had with live drum corps, that mello line especially...
the beginning of the closer is soooooo addicting to listen to. i don't think any hornline can pull that part off the same way scv did
Loved seeing it live. Rumor has it the mello sustain is still ringing throughout the halls of Lucas oil…
I totally agree with Allen about BC 2015. That show has been my favorite show of all time since the first time hearing it. I can’t watch the ending without getting full body chills. Such an impactful show
The Crown 2014 section with only mellos and trumpets almost made me cry it was so good
I have listened to that exact crown 2014 lot video on repeat while I was doing homework, it's just that good lmao
The mutual lock-in at 19:04 is so real
Alright, we officially have 2/3 of the band back together
You're spot on about 2015 bluecoats. It's like the forgotten show because it's in between 2 great ones.
I swear shows dont hit anymore like the mid 2010 shows do 🥲
This is the kind of content I’ve been dying for. Should have said something. Do this for drums, all sub section, all brass subsections, and guard and subsections. PWETTY PWEASE!!!?!?!?!????!?!?!??!??
Cadets 13 battery videos are my go-to, insane!!

the high brass feature is easily one of the best executed features of all time. Saw this at nightBEAT and wow!
i’d love for you guys to react to 90s-early 2000s hornlines
Specifically Cadets 2000!
@@cole_bh0373 YES YES!!
"That was clean" is so drum corps coded lmfao
if there’s anything i would wanna see it’s probably you guys reacting to more indoor percussion shows!! I would love to see the way you would approach stuff like that!!
Part 2 gotta include SCV playing simple gifts in the tunnel or whatever with insane acoustics. My fave video of all time lol
All these segments are on a constant rotation for me! I’m glad that even as just a spectator, I share these opinions and obsessions over these specific videos with you guys! Keep it coming!!! Can’t wait to see more!

the geeking out is at an "11" - & I love it!!
How is BD’s 2010 Space Chords video not on here?!?! 2Mil+ views and their 23rd Jim Ott… come on!
All in jest. Love the content, gentlemen.

so stoked this means we get more funliner! Lets go boys!

Wow, seeing the way allen reacts to familiar hornlines is so real i (attempt) to que with my hands its so much fun
OH my GOD?! This brought me back to that era and lord, not me geeking out too! And yes I would 100% marry 2014 Crown's mello book.
LOL
I was lucky to have one of my caption heads for open class to have marched SCV 2017 and 18 as well as one that marched Phantom 2008. I got so good in the two season I marched with them teaching us.
BD '14 trumpet here. Appreciate the love fam!
On man i remember being in the circle for that 17 system blue camp 😭 15 year old me was still shocked 😂
The 2015 shows both Bluecoats and the Cadets remind me of Roman Images from Star of Indiana 1991!
Shout out to CC 2014 (the final part when they marched in half time and sprinted their fingers is also one my favorite part all time)
I remember seeing that Blue Devils 2014 video for the first time and I always replayed the part with the closer
Geeked in the thumbnail
any video of Crown dropping the hammer is awesome. id love to see y'all react to and give insight into those.
90 Star, 85 Cadets, 12 Crown, 2000 BD are some you need to check out.
WELCOME BACKKK YESSSSSS
if you’re ever feeling down watch this video muted and zoomed in on the bottom left box
I mean you have to react to the classic crown drops the hammer video or to switch it up Cadets 2013 drumline is insane too
Cold attack clap 👏
Love this video! Keep it coming yall.
Tier List of the Carolina Crown tuning sequences over the years?
Missin Malik too 💔 saw him at BD’s GA Rehearsal this past season tho 😄
Please react to Scv 2018 and cadets 2013 🙏🙏
Crown 2014 was insane it’s like they wanted to give a middle finger to the whole world and say “you cannot write something harder than this”, and then just incase that wasn’t impressive enough “oh see those trumpets and mellos? fun fact, my show is litterwly inspired and takes things from crown 2014- it’s become one of my favs
React to Babylon again please 😭
Did they make a reaction video and take it down or am I imagining things
They did have one but it’s taken down yeah sadly
@@itsjay3853 yeah they did but this was taken down a long time ago
thanks for keeping me relevant E lol. Love the content
part 2 suggestion, crown 2008 opener (audio only vid on youtube)
I remember seeing that clip of BD 17 and hearing that feature. I knew they had the season in the bag lol
part 2 lets go
WE WANT MORE
Great video.
Can you take a look at some older horn lines?
Just some ideas:
80 Spirit
82 BD
84 Cadets
85 BD
90 Star
79 Guardsmen
78 Phantom Regiment
77 Cavaliers
76 Blue Devils
75 Madison Scouts
74 Muchachos
73 Argonne Rebels
72 Kingsmen
NISHIHARA BAND 2001! I know Everett went on a Japanese band period for a little and the show is nuts for a high school
Y’all should do most iconic solos/feature over the past decade (viral)
the hand gestures 👌

These picks all make sense but pre 2000s mello lines were actually insane for no reason
Very fun video!
I’m like number 999 😢
So are all DCI UA-camrs moving into a house together to make content?
I’m in
I would like more of these videos. 🫠
Yall should watch the video that crown has out there as to how they make their tunning notes as one and how attention to detail they focus on tonguing and attacking the note
Kinetic Noise is still my favorite Bloo show
My son was in this horn line 2012-2014.
Phantom 06 had the trumpets swap to mellophones during the ballad!!
Add the Carolina Crown 2013 and 16-17 lots, and it's a perfect list for me!
Prob my fav hornline vid ever: ua-cam.com/video/_YyveKmRTrw/v-deo.htmlsi=A5MGJIAX40y-bG0F

Actually it’s Joey who plays that as well. I would know.
