= FOR THESE FRACTALS I USED :
▪️- For the white background I used Artist Loft Flow Acrylic White from Michaels as the background... but ANY white acrylic paint seems to work (I tried at least 4 brands too, including Liquitex Basics and DecoArt Americana Titanium White with similar results).
Liquitex Basics Titanium White: amzn.to/2TG2gwe
▪️- The colors I used for the fractals :
Liquitex Acrylic Ink - Deep Violet
Golden Fluid Acrylic - Quinacridone Magenta
DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic - Titanium White (to make colors more pastel ... not for the background)
Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink - Teal
Liquitex Acrylic Ink set of 3 primaries : amzn.to/2UbVa73
Golden Fluid Acrylic set of 10 : amzn.to/2HJYjoO
Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink set of 12 : amzn.to/2FuQ1NR
▪️91 % Isopropyl Alcohol
▪️"Mystery product" ... watch the video to see what it is 😊
= My white background paint was mixed using my regular fluid painting mix:
- 1 - 2 parts paint to 4 parts Floetrol
Floetrol : amzn.to/2U2wZse
- I then add a little water if necessary to get my paint to be the consistency of really warm honey, or like heavy cream. The amount of water will depend on the type of acrylic paint you used ... Flow acrylic (runny like house paint) will need very little water if any, while medium to heavy body paint (thick like toothpaste) will need more water. Try to limit the amount of water that you use ... too much will break down the binding properties of the acrylic paint. How much is too much? Try to keep the amount of water under 50% of the amount of paint.
= Once my paintings dry, I spray them with a low odor, user-friendly, crystal clear, museum-quality varnish designed for acrylics, oils and watercolors. It gives a glossy finish.
Here is a link: amzn.to/2jGh3KO
When I want to spray a matte/satin finish instead, I use this: amzn.to/2fvgYF0
Thank you in advance for watching the videos, sharing them, commenting and leaving a thumbs up. Your kindness helps my channel continue and it is all greatly appreciated! May the alcohol inks, resin, and paints be kind, and may the pours be with you. 😊💕
Myriam, if I may address you as such. I have been painting for well over sixty years, always experimenting and learning new things every day. I have to say that this is one of the finest videos and commentary from you that I have ever seen. Superb work by someone that like me does not like to be beaten when striving to find new ways of doing things. Thank you so much for posting, every day is a school day. May I wish you well in art and in life.
Myriam, I am a retired science teacher, grades 7-12. Your scientific approach to understanding the reactions that paints have to non-paint substances are exactly what artists need to truly enjoy their work. Thank you for all that you do to solve the mysteries.
Thank god for people willing to risk blowing their houses up in the name of art lol. TFS
Ha... Art first! Structural integrity...eh!! 😄 It was my pleasure to share... And risk life and limb😂. Thank you for the grin! 💕😊

I love and appreciate the effort you've made to expand the possibilities for dendrites. Even more amazing is that you didn't use silicone, which then has to be cleaned off. Can't wait to experiment with your many great suggestions. Thank you, Myriam. I subscribed (I'd be crazy not to!)
Awww, thank you so much Vicki! I hope that this channel will be useful to you. 😘💕
You are just the best teacher ever! I love your storytelling quality while keeping to the topic. Without the just fill in silence with chatter about the weather and your upcoming doctor appointment, etc , everything you say has to do with what we're learning! Grateful!
Thank you so much Debi… I appreciate that very much! 😘 I try to make videos I would want to watch, so I’m super happy that that style works for you as well! 😊💕
Oh Myriam, you are the "mad chemist" of paint! LOL I love watching your demos. You're a lot of fun and so real. Thanks for taking your time to do all this for us.
Ha... I felt like a mad scientist running around the house collecting cleaners, and such 😃. I'm happy I come across well to you Eleanor... Thank you! 😊💕
I love you! So fun!
I need a shopping list!
Methanol! I work in a lab and we use methanol for a fixative for our blood slides. We also use Wright-Giemsa stain which is just beautiful! The patterns the repelling water and evaporation creates are stunning!
Where do you get those?
THAT'S where I saw it before! When I took microbiology in college, I always thought some of the stains were so pretty! Lol
LOL you had great time making this video, love to hear you laugh. Great video xx ;)
Making these is really like being a kid again... It's hard to keep the glee inside 😃. I'm glad it didn't sound too goofy. Thanks Paul! 😘
'Short of apple juice and milk'🤣🤣this is so cool to watch!
Myriam, keep up your experimenting. What a wonderful tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for being obsessive and figuring this out, and then sharing it. Your sense of humor is refreshing.
This showed up in my suggested and I just wandered in. BUT wow this is pretty cool!!
Oh my gosh Cinnamon... You have been one of my heroines for the longest time! I am delighted that you liked this... Thank you very much for taking the time to comment!! It has made my day! 🎉❄️💕😘💕❄️🎉
I know, I want to try it.
two of my fave arty ladies!
I just found Miriam too and I agree theartsherpa with Miriam, you too have been a great inspiration! Two talented ladies!
I am going to try making a few ATC's using these
I am so glad I watched this video. After watching I had to immediately subscribe! I love how Myriam keeps it so real. She is so funny, and easy to follow throughout her videos. I love how she isn't scared to experiment and use different things to get her work done. I love the pick idea to spread the paint. I have Bombay ink and acrylic ink, and I am so excited to try this for myself! I had no idea I had all the tools to do this project. Thank you Myriam!
Wow! That's really cool! I'm definitely going to be doing this!
I had purchased acrylic inks in error. Originally wanted to try alcohol inks. Tried a number of attempts to use the acrylic inks but nothing was satisfactory. Thank you so much, it has relieved my frustration and opened a new door of creating.
You're killing me, Myriam! Every time I watch one of your videos, I have to go to Amazon and order more stuff! lol. : )
I was just thinking the same thing! I'm like the mad addicted Artist at large.
Oh my gosh... I'm soooo sorry Jackie. I know what that's like .... I feel as if I live at Michaels... So many supplies, so little time! 😄 I hope you make lots of fun stuff. Thanks for the grin! 😘
Oh dear Tania ... I'm wondering if we should form some sort of support group. 😂 I'd happily be a charter member.
I thought it was me! I’m just starting but having so much fun, and the learning never stops, thank you.
Same here... I just spent a small fortune on inks, stamp cleaner and whatnot... :D Makers are dangerous for other makers LOL
Thanks for all the great info. Pigment can also move through water without using the white acrylic. Works better when the paper is at a sweet spot of saturation and dries quickly. Like a coated paper
These are beautiful. I'm pretty sure the chemistry has to do with the density of the "paints" vs the white paint.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! You do such a good job of explaining each step -- you're very enjoyable to watch and learn from. :)
How about adding the ink and alcohol in a squeeze bottle? That way you could make your drops smaller or larger by how long you squeeze the bottle. You could also do a lot of dots in a short period of time. Thanks, Myriam, for doing these experiments for us.
Ha... We do think alike Blaiz! I actually did try that while in my mad scientist phase (I'm rather squeeze bottle obsessed)... It certainly did work but the reason I went with the way I showed on the video is that the dendrite branches grow longer when you "feed" the fractal in tiny increments. I also prefer smaller centers... Putting a full, big drop causes a bigger center to form first, and THEN the branches start. It's a different look ... but definitely viable!
Thank you for always taking time to contribute... It makes this channel all the more fun! 😘💕❄️
Can alcohol inks be used?
Brilliant! It was like a combo science/art lesson! Loved it!
Ha... I love that! Thanks Diane! ❄️💕😊
You make such informative videos. I love them.. now I wanna try it! 😜
I think you'll have such a blast Paula! Thank you. 😊
Wow Myriad what a fantastic tutorial! I love how every different addition has a different reaction. I could play with this for hours lol. Thank you xx
Oh my gosh... I did... It was a bit addictive! I'm warning you in advance OK? 😄 Thanks for the sweet comment Sharon!
Sharon Walker yes, I've watched 4 time & am on my 5th!
I bought a pick too Myriam and it’s the best.. not just because it spreads so well but it catches the cheeky lumps. Love your experiments.. never stop please or laughing😘
Oh you're riiiiight Joyce!! That IS an awesome bonus ... I forget that sometimes. I am delighted that you're enjoying the channel. Thank you! 😊💕🎨
Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! The other day I mistakenly got some fractals in a dutch pour so I spent yesterday playing with adding alcohol to some FolkArt extreme sheen and it worked beautifully.
i just adore your video style.. informative and fun .. you are gem
That is so awesome to hear... Thank you very much for that Anna! 😊💕
Hi Myriam, can you get the same effect using Yupo paper ??? Love those "fuzzies". Thanks so much. Thanks also for NOT playing ANNOYING background music/ NOISE, I want to hear you as you give instructions .
Thank you! I have destroyed my entire house doing the same thing! I did discover that there is a tempra paint made by Dick Blicks called Jazz gloss. When it is put over acrylics, you get dendrites!
Ooooh...That sounds like fun and something worth trying when I get a chance. Thank you for sharing that Shelly!
This is really neat. Will this only work on a ceramic tile? Can you use it on a different surface?
Very cool idea! Maybe if you added some glazing medium to the acrylic paint, not the fluid brands, it would thin the paint enough and glazing medium won't dilute the pigment like water does. Thanks for the hard work and all your experimenting...TFS
Hmmmm.... Interesting. I will have to try that. Thanks for the suggestion and kind words Mary!
Omg you made me laugh!!😂🤣❤.." I tried everything short of apple and milk!!" Hahaha!!!
I’m so happy you got a good chuckle out of that 😁. Thank you for letting me know Gaylene! 😊💕
ok so ive been pouring & i have had fractals on my mental to do list. I am sure you just saved me so much time & fussing! Absolutely wonderful! Thank you for your time & sharing this excellent tidbit!
Truly a pleasure Nicole! Thank you for that kind comment! I hope you have a blast making these... They're a tad addictive, to go along with the addictive pouring! 😄❄️💕
Nicole Gagnon i
Fabulous! Awesome! Brilliant!
I've tried the more "traditional" method of drop-of-ink followed by drop-of-alcohol, and oddly enough, my experience was opposite to yours: I couldn't get it to work on white, but I could get it to work on other colours. - which looked lovely, but it is puzzling as to why they were different.
The idea of mixing with the alcohol beforehand, so useful; I just assumed that wouldn't work, because none of the videos I'd looked at did it that way, they all did the drop-separately method. Using a ball stylus... very useful. I can't remember whether I have one of those or not, but I certainly do have toothpicks, though the problem with toothpicks is that they do absorb some of the ink before you can add it to the paint surface. Hmmm, I wonder if an unfolded paper clip would work?
YAY!
Thank you so much Kathryn!! I don't understand why no one mixed the alcohol in either. Like you, I assumed it was because it wouldn't work since it was never done that way on video. While I was messing around I thought "well let me see what the issue is and why no one does it". I was shocked when a really pretty fractal appeared!! 😀
I'm very puzzled by your ability to get this to work on color and not white... The wheels are certainly turning in my head now.
About the toothpick this might help : If you have crazy glue in the house, use it to coat the toothpick. I do that to the bamboo skewers I use. The glue makes them totally waterproof and super easy to clean! You'll hopefully get more variety in size too. Once dry, the glue is not affected by alcohol at all. I think that with a bottle of crazy glue and a roll of duct tape I could invade a small country! 😂
"I think that with a bottle of crazy glue and a roll of duct tape I could invade a small country!"
LOL!
I feel like I'm getting a professional level lecture each time I watch you. So darn happy I found you.
Thank you for making it clear to me. I'me going to try it with food coloring.
I used to paint with food coloring by dripping it on paper and using a straw to blow it around. Now that I am on oxygen there is no blowing allowed, Your method makes it clear for me. I love dendrites.
I just came across your channel today and am ready to try your alcohol inks on yupo paper, since I already have some. When I saw this video, I realized that I’m hooked on you! Thanks for teaching so many “cool” techniques.
Oh thank you so so much for that Cindi! I hope you have lots of fun trying these techniques. 😊💕
You are such a clever boots. Great stuff here. Is the stamp cleaner anything like the Tim Holtz blending solution? That stuff is used heavily by some in AI paintings but it makes me nauseous and dizzy, so I came up with my own mixture of alcohol and propylene glycol. It’s soooo much cheaper and less toxic. I’ll try that stamp cleaner. You are rocking this, lady. I’m learning a bunch. And I’d never pick on you for using that pick. 😃 I’ve tried it and agree it’s the best. It just takes longer.
The main ingredient of the stamp cleaner (99.5 % of it) is the second ingredient in the Holtz blending solution (different names for the same compound). Given that, I thought for sure the solution should work for fractals, but it doesn't at all. But I haven't tried the reverse (to see if the cleaner could sub for blending solution). To be honest, the stamp cleaner is hardly noticeable if you only use one drop, but I think pouring it like blending solution would be just as unpleasant.
I agree about the pick taking longer but for some things it is worth the time. 😊 Thank you for the comment Cyd...I always like seeing your picture in my feed!!💕😘
Thank you for the info about making your own blending solution Cyd👍🏼. What ratio do you mix it and what strength of alcohol do you use?
Your passion is so evident. And youre right, this will be a great project with kids! A great introduction to DIY art, science and most importantly mistake proof...since youve tried so many variations and solutions!
Thank you Matthew! I think kids would have a blast with these and it could definitely lead to a fun science lesson. They might even come up with new ways to make them! I hope you have fun trying it yourself. 😀❄️💕
Dendrite fractals? Looks so much more like coronavirus! :-O
I love this! I have also been experimenting for this effect. I have found a couple of paints you might like! The Testors Aztek airbrush paint does this straight from the bottle, and this morning I found that Ranger Patina paint does as well! So exciting! Thank you for showing me how to do it with ink and regular paint. You rock.
Oh I love this!! Thank you for sharing! I'm gonna try this this weekend.
Excuse me...
"Dendrite Fractals" (I got it now!)
.... OHHHHHH Ohhhhh OHHHH
Try Glycerin instead of the white paint...
I use Glycerin (on top) my WATER, then add
the watercolor to that and get (yeah I get to say it)
"Dendrite Fractals"
.... and I also use (good) Food Color Gels tooo...
they look just like Watercolors... Try that too.
Oooh... I've never ventured much into watercolors but now you’ve got my head spinning! I thank you so much for that!
Would be sooo cool for Christmas /winter snowflakes
A great and extensive tutorial. I did not feel like speeding up the video at all. You're one of the best instructors.
That's so good to hear… Thank you very much for that super kind compliment! I really appreciate it!! 😊💕
i really appreciate your videos and your experimental willingness - and then sharing it all with the rest of us! Thank you so very much.
Myram, You are the best teacher! I'm doing this.
Thank you so much Valerie... I think you'll really enjoy it! 😊💕❄️
I am obsessed with dendrite fractals too and I have tried over and over different techniques but never really got good results. You Rock for sharing and I absolutely loved your video, now tomorrow I will be on a mission to try again :) Thank You!!!!!!!!!
That is soooo awesome to hear! I'm so happy the video gave you some new ideas! I hope your new fractals will be everything you want them to be... Let me know how they turn out! I'd love to hear. 😊❄️ Thank you for your super kind comment!!
WOW! Myriam, you've done it again. This is so amazing. I love it and think my art class at the library will love it! You are such a great resource. It isn't just the paintings. It's also the insight you give as to "why" you can or can't do something. I wish I could sit right beside you as you do these. I think that would be the frosting on the cake. Your beautiful videos are a high ranking second best. Keep on doing those wonderful things you do. Love, love, love your work, and your beautiful personality fills my creative well. Hugs and love for all you do for us!
Thank you so much for that Ann… I always appreciate your thoughtful comments!
Hi Myriam with a “Y”, I love working with your comb, wow, you are amazing with what you come up with.
I wanted to let you know that I tested this with the white on the black and it did work. The white ink I used was Matisse. Do you think the brand might make a difference. I tried using white ink of another brand and that didn’t work. All other colours were Liquitex ink.
Ooooh... I'm not familiar with that ink Debra, but will certainly keep a look out for it! My only guess is that maybe the density is different than other inks??? Thank you for that! I'm delighted that the comb is working for you. It was almost by accident that I saw how well it worked. 😄 Thank you for the kind comment!
majorly cool any way to transfer it to paper?
Hi Christonya! The fractals can be done on any surface that can stay level and can handle being wet for hours with the fluid layer of white paint. I do them on tiles for video demonstrations (because they're easy to wipe off when the paint is still wet). Once dry however, the paint will NOT peel off without destructive scraping. You could do it on silicone baking sheets, or wax paper though. On those surfaces, once dry, THAT paint skin should peel off easily and be transferable.
Some paper can be treated with gesso first to help make it waterproof... If the paper buckles from being wet it will warp or ruin the fractals that are formed. Other options might be acetate, transparencies, or Yupo "paper", which are already waterproof. I hope that helps a bit. 😊💕❄️❄️
That’s amazing. Can it be used on a canvases ?? X
can you use just the white pouring medium or does it actually need white acrylic paint added to that?
Dear Miriam, I am so glad that I found your channel. I love the videos I've seen so far. The dendrite technique with acrylic paint was new to me. (I did it on silk scarves years ago.) It's so nice to see your tutorials and listening to you is kind of comforting. You may not know, but you are also an excellent English teacher. Your pronunciation is so clear and easy to understand for those who are not native speakers. (I wish every child had a teacher like you.) Greetings from Vienna. Austria. 👋 Susanne
Oh my gosh... thank you so very much Susanne! My mom will be positively gratified to hear that... she has always been a stickler for speaking clearly 😃. I am just delighted that the channel is proving useful to you. I wish you endless fun and creativity. May you and yours be healthy, safe, and blessed this holiday season. 😊😘💕
“It’s the event horizon, if you will”.. to your discovery of when they stop dendriting
so, to be celar, you are adding the stamp cleaner to acylic paint only? I lost you on that part.
I loved that Dendrite Fractals technique - I`m just having trouble keeping UP with all the wonderful things I`m learning through various styles of paint pouring, etc.! Thank you so much for your efforts and the fun you inspire!
It is my pleasure Rosemary. I know what you mean.... There are soooo many things I want to try and don't think I'll LIVE long enough! 😄😂 Thank you for your kind words!
Could you let a base layer dry then overcoat with a clear medium of some kind and add more dentrites on top so they don’t meet a wall? The question would be is there a clear medium out there that would allow the paint and alcohol to flow...
You're brilliant! Thank you for doing the experimenting for us!!!
I have been crazy trying to find this information.... thanks so much....I lived this teaching....thanks so much...
Myriam, you are AMAZING!! Your gentle voice and simple instructions are ideal for learning, but it's your creativity that blows me away. I'm going right from here to my art table!
Oh my gosh... thank you Jill... What a lovely thing to say! 😊💕
PS I tried making fractals in my mixed media journal by Stratford. First I Gessoed, then added two layers of Golden leveling medium before pouring the white paint mixture to set up my play space. It worked fine, but one does need to be careful, more careful, about placing the drops. Hope that’s helpful! So excited that my dendrites worked!
Lol, I think you and I are very alike! For the thicker acrylics you could add a flow aid (to pre thin it) like we use in airbrushing for thinning acrylics without losing the quality of it. Another item that may be interesting to try is Windex or similar. People often mix window cleaner up with glycerine and water to clean out airbrushes used with acrylics. You can buy proprietary cleaners too of course.
I thoroughly enjoy the mad scientist nature that some of this brings out. I did try Windex in my crazy "try everything" period ... sadly no dendrites came up. But the experimenting continues! 😄 Thank you for contributing ideas! I so appreciate it. 😊💕❄️❄️
This is awesome!!! I've never run across fractals before! Can't wait to play. Thanks for sharing
This has cheered me up no end! I have been given acrylic ink for christmas (as requested) and then realised I'd actually wanted alcohol ink 🤦
You've showed me here, I just need the isopropyl and can get the effect I want-woohoo! Thank you, loving the fractals!
That’s awesome to hear... thank you Sarah! I hope you have a lot of fun with your new “toys” 😁. Get the highest percentage isopropyl you can for the best effect (91% or more).
Happy, happy New Year to you and yours!! ✨🎆💕🎇✨ 😊
I love these! I can’t wait to try them. I think snowflake coasters for winter and dandelion puffs for spring. So many fun options.
🤣🤣You sound like me, amazed by my art work & that I'm still standing 🥴🤠🤣🤣. Stay blessed beautiful 🌻💙💜🏴
Hi Myriam...I just looked for you on FB but no luck...one of your vids said you were possibly thinking about making a group...I soooo hope that you do...I will happily watch ads to keep you in supplies and sharing your WONDERFUL videos...ty ty!!
I love this and your ability to share.... and "everything just short of apple juice and milk"! 💞
I love this technique, and I'm like you...I'll get obsessed and experiment with everything in the house (I probably would have tried apple juice, too! LOL) I don't have all these products, inks, stamp cleaner, fluid acrylics. I'm a single mom on a budget and I paint with acrylic paint + my own glue/water medium, or sometimes Floetrol. Any suggestions on making fractal art without breaking the bank? 🤔
If you want to see my work I'm on IG: Catherine Hubbard Williams. I don't suck. Ha! My followers are growing by about 10-15 a day, not bad) 😄 Thanks for this tutorial! I'm excited that I found your channel, you do lovely work!!!
I got SOOO excited. I ran to my craft store and came flying back to only make giant blobs! 🤣 It seems that I missed the part about buying ACRYLIC INK vs Alcohol Ink...🙄
This is very cool! Thanks so much. Definitely going to get on THIS band wagon. I don't think you are stubborn or excessive,... but that likely says more about ME than about YOU!
BTW,... I recently learned that Alcohol ink contains resin. Who knew!!!
Can you transfer this to paper by putting it lightly on top, or anything like that??
Austin, TX USA
I came across Gina DeLuca's post (2018) and she referenced you, so I followed - and I love what I saw. Science + art equals the best video!
Thank you!
Have your ever mixed Liquitex Acrylic ink and Schmincke Aero Color acrylic ink? Did it go Kaboom or create fumes? I have an opaque Schmincke yellow PY74 which I would like to replace with a transparent Liquitex yellow PY74 to make a transparent orange.
Also, have you ever tried fractals on hot pressed water-colour paper instead of the painted tile you use?
Wow!! What a fantastic intro to this medium! You are a really good teacher 👩🏫. Thankyou so much🙌👏 I may have questions if that’s ok before I go and spend $$ on everything I’ll need. I hope that’s ok? So for the base, are you in canvas or a tile? If I get those little pre-prepped canvases do I just put down fluid acrylic in white, or do I put down regular white acrylic mixed down with floetral? Basically what does the base need to be. I e read your list everything else is clear. I’m just unsure as to wether you say you can just use a white pouring/fluid paint (just buy in bottle & lay it down) OR do I mix regular acrylic with the floetral? Eek .. I hope I’m making sense. If it’s too hard & to time consuming to explain, maybe you have a video of yours you could direct me to please ... either way, Thankyou for any help you can give. I always have trouble getting the right stuff, I’m remote so it all has to be online & gets frustrating when you miss just 1 or 2 things that you didn’t realize you needed to get etc. I’ve not seen this fractal stuff before .. I have NO IDEA with all the art & craft I do how it passed me by!? I’m a bit of a science nerd 🤓 so this blows my mind, yaaassss😂💗🙏🙋 Peace ☮️ from down under🤓
Reminds me of Allison Esley’s work. She’s on Instagram 713resinart. Have you seen her work Miriam?
I'm going to do this. I have lots of things to play with. I'll get back to you with my results ♥
You have to be the crafters version of Bill Nye the science guy!!!!Lol!! Tysmfs your research.💕💐 Great video!👍👏 Loved it! Are you a teacher or researcher by trade? You presented your findings so clearly.👍👍👍👍👍
Just LOVE your type of experimentation. I have spent my whole career working with accidental methods to invent new ways of working with art materials. Keep up the good work!

Awesome inspiring and soo much fun!! Don’t have the ingredients Downunder but loved watching it all, thanks! Subscribed some time ago, love your work and enjoyment in creating! God bless. Shaz in Oz.x
Where do you get artist loft FLUID Acrylic???? I went to Michaels and they don’t have it and hobby lobby doesn’t either. Is it called. fluid Acrylic?
I use high flow acrylic as well. Have you tried acrylic ink and alcohol on paper? Laying down a layer of paint, dripping or spraying alcohol, letting it dry, adding a layer of soft gel medium or gesso and repeating until you have typically three layers? It so pretty! By the way, I want you to know I LOVE, LOVE your channel! Your voice is so calming and I learn so much! I stayed away from alcohol inks for years thinking it was a boring, expensive medium. I started watching your vids on them and I think I own all of them now...haha! They are so calming aren’t they? I just saw you have a Facebook page! Yay! (BTW, I use your Amazon links all the time. I don’t know if it helps, but I do😊.) Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us. It is very much appreciated!💜💕 You are a very skilled and talented artist.
Ok. So I am confused. ...alcohol inks or alcohol acrylic "inks"?? Like, u can take acrylic paint and add alcohol = acrylic inks? Like u can do with markers+alcohol=inks? I dont have actual experience (too expensive) but have a love of the incredible effects! Thank you for your videos.
Fascinating! I realize this is 4 years old, but just found your channel because Steve McDonald mentioned you😻. My question is: does what you made on that tile come off as a skin? Have you used the fractals in art pieces as skins? Thank you for these experiments, from a new subscriber.
Brilliant tutorial Myriam; thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Much love and peace from Greenwich London UK.
Thanks so much! I discovered fractals by accident and had been experimenting (with limited luck). Thanks for the 'leg-up'.
Do I love this technique? OMG OMG OMG YES! One question, when doing this particular technique, you must use your white paint recipe as decribed above? If so, what can I use instead of Floetrol? White glue? I want to do this right now, but no Floetrol. Pooh!
On one pour I used black on the canvas. Then dropped dry gold & alcohol, mixed, on just outside edge of design. It worked! But where it hit the edge of my design, it’s flat. Then bloomed out. I’ve never had that happen again! Thank you for all your experimenting!!!!! ❤️
Extremely amazing. I cannot wait to try it. Thank you SO MUCH! glad I found you.
i wish people would quit calling every cool design a fractal. a fractal is an infinitely repeatable geometric object that is similar to itself on all scales
fantastic! i have same obsessive tendencies! i want to do this on clear plexi. trying acrylic mediums to see if it works and dries clear. any thoughts?
Thank you for sharing and teaching us this lesson in Fractals. I am new to this and this is fun. Huggles.

Could you please explain the difference between Acrylic Ink and Acrylic Alcohol Ink? I sit in rapt attention night after night watching your videos. Thank you so much.
Your video showed up in my list, thank you! I loved your information. Please show more tutorials and absolutely gorgeous techniques. I'll be looking for more ideas. Thank you again.
Hi again Myriam, sorry to bother you again, I am really struggling trying to get the initial fluid white acrylic layer correct, you mention a drop of the acrylic with about four drops alcohol, when you say drop can you, if possible, let me know how big is the drop? I'm finding when I put say a 'quarters' size drop down and then add alcohol it actually gets gloopy, I cannot seem to get the consistency you seem to have. Hope you can help 😕
Are you using a specific white paint??? Like can you use latex house paint or should you use like Plaid or Michael’s acrylic white paint. I went to your Amazon list and was not quite sure about the white paint ... also, you are working on tiles (?) ... have you done this on heavy weight cardstock??? ❤️❤️❤️
Loved this, but not having any success! Just blobs, no tendrils. Using heavy paper (not a tile), have tried thin and thicker layers of white acrylic paint as base, have tried various ratios of alcohol to acrylic ink because no joy with 3x alcohol to ink. Not sure what I'm doing wrong....suggestions?
Love it! Would it work if I used alcohol ink (mixed with isopropyl alcohol) on a white acrylic base? Guess I should just try it. Thanks!
I have followed your instructions and have NO fractals? Watered down white paint, fluid mixed with alcohol, and nothing? What am I doing wrong?
Mad Scientist! LOL
