    Wow…People are very ignorant on this board and I'd be deathly embarrassed to be you. Being vegan is about compassion, yes, but compassion relates directly to intelligence and understanding. If you lack sympathy for a fellow life form its because you're a victim of brainwashing, lack a certain level of intellect, or both. Veganism is not a belief system, its knowledge. Much respect for you Frank, from a fellow vegan.

    • @connorjones915
      @connorjones915 11 років тому +5

      Sorry the only ignorant person here is you. Claiming that you're more intelligent than all the nonvegans because you have "compassion". News flash the greatest minds of the world aren't vegans. People can have opposing opinions it doesn't make them intellectually inadequate. It's like an atheist saying everyone who believes in god are ignorant and less intelligent. That would make stephen hawking ignorant and less intelligent. Everyone has different perspectives and no perspective is greater than the other.

    • @leororen1

    • @TheCrystic
      @TheCrystic 10 років тому +1

      Connor Jones Some of the greatest minds in the world are vegans. Compassion is certainly a trait of more intelligent life forms. Stephen Hawking is an atheist, so your comparison is flawed. You've been brainwashed as most of us were and hopefully, one day you'll see sense.

    Man these comments are crazy lol... it's funny how people seem to only educate themselves to support their own arguments. So much closed minded conversation here. Clear stuff up.. eating farmed meat and hinted meat are different. Good for you alaskan, do your thing. Vegans shouldn't hate someone like this alaskan hunting for family. It's different than farming. Vegans need to realize they hate farming meat. That has the negative impact and the cruelty and all that. And meat eaters need to finally learn that vegans are at no risk of being protein deficienct. They have bean, nuts, seeds, pastas, bread.. and guess what.. VEGETABLES.. vegetables provide protein people. Through amino acids. A balanced salad can give you protein and may be easier for your body to absorb and breakdown vs what it has to do to digest meat... I eat fish.. but mainly am vegetarian.. so just my unbiased look at things.. have an open mind and understand some stuff better. And stop referring to cave man times, that is the past.

    • @nickcanclimb
      @nickcanclimb 10 років тому

      Vegans are also funny that they talk about nutrients and health.. but there are a lot of vegans who eat unhealthy vegan snacks. When it comes to health I am surprised that vegans focus on meat over what kind of processing has been done to the food. Organic fish caught from a river is healthier than OREOs.

    Dear Vegans. I'm not going to lie, I respect your decision to not eat or use animal products. That's cool. Big decision that requires a lot of will power. More than I have. But, I also love meat, so that's not for me anyway.
    Lesson in food: eggs that we eat are unfertilised eggs. Pretty much a chicken's period. Hence it is not 'animal cruelty'. Just a weird...fetish, I suppose(though not sexual).
    Now, the last thing. I'm not okay with all this propaganda on how eating meat is a 'crime'. I sure as hell do not go to websites saying 'Eat meat. It's good'. Though I do agree it's not a nice thing to know an animal died to feed you, I do not accept you shoving your vegan beliefs down my throat. I will eat animal body parts, that were ripped off the dead animal's bleeding carcass, if I want to. Good day.
    Also, brilliant bodies guys. You have my fucking respect.

      some vegans (such as myself) chose to do it due to health issues.

      There would be no "use" for many animals if we didn't eat them. Personally if the animals are kept and slaughtered in a humane way I am happy enough on a moral level. As for vegan diet being the best I strongly disagree... while its true that most people eat too much meat it is commonly agree that the best diet is a hunter gatherer diet (these diets vary but include lots of leaf vegetables and some small portions of meat or fish)

    • @aldwarcraft123
      @aldwarcraft123 10 років тому +7

      Millions upon millions of male baby chicks are ground up ALIVE every year by the egg industry.. that's why eating eggs is WRONG! They are not talking about the eggs sold at the store... but these places to breed hens for more eggs laying females... as a result, the males are useless and killed soon after they hatch. So yes. Non-vegans kill newborn baby chicks. Not to mention newborn baby cows. In fact every animal that goes to slaughter is no older than 24 months old... the age of a human toddler. Also. No such thing as 'humane slaughter'. It's an oxymoron. My anxiety has gone away, my heart palps have disappeared and I can run on 4 hours of sleep easily. The vegan diet is the best if you aren't a dumbass about it and eat properly. Sorry, but I am better than you, because I don't exploit the innocent for selfish reasons.

    I used to love meat and used to follow the mass media (eat meat, consume, work, follow the crowd, government is always right)..
    But after i started reading many books and learn about spirituality, i started appreciating all living things in this planet, either humans or animals.
    I do find very drastic and unrealistic to ask people to suddenly stop consuming meat.. we have been doing it for generations.
    But what we can do to make a difference is to simple cut down our meat consumption...
    If every human in this planet would eat less meat, thousand of animals could be saved each year and we could regulate more the farms to diminish animal cruelty.
    Is not normal that we kill millions of animals each year...we keep them enslaved all their life..
    If we want the earth to be a better place it has to start within in each and everyone one of you..
    and for the people that are still "asleep" animals DO HAVE SOULS... they have feeling and the are smarter than what TV tells you to believe..
    do your own research and just follow your heart.. you can make a difference by just eating less meat.

      @Cin9999 10 років тому

      Reginald Cooper
      yeah but as far as we know plants don´´t feel pain - animals do...sp what the fuck is wrong with you that you whant to kill them?
      i mean you need plants to live but you don´t have to eat animals

    • @hatedapostlecooper5169
      @hatedapostlecooper5169 10 років тому +3

      Dude I see what you are saying. I believe animal cruelty is horrible, but I love meat. I'm not saying kill them brutally, just humanely. The fact is plants live too. Even if the plant doesn't have eyes, and ears, it is still alive. Wouldn't you consider tearing leaves and branches off of a tree just for the fun of it an act of cruelty? I certainly do if the plant is living. What I'm trying to say is, do it humanely. The fact is that you have to consume life to live. How you go about consuming that life is what makes it right or wrong.

    • @Cin9999
      @Cin9999 10 років тому

      the fact is - killig thinking animals is much more horribel than killing a plant - and the animals on famrs n such have a very short poor live and die painful

    Vegans are more compassionate than people who eat meat, I don't think so, vegetables are alive before you cook them to eat them. As a matter-of-fact, plant life has the most complex nervous system of most living things, that means they feel it even more. So, just imagine the sounds you would hear if vegetation could scream. So vegans aren't anybody than us meat eaters. They just try to sound high and mighty.

    • @TheCrystic
      @TheCrystic 10 років тому +6

      Plants don't have nervous systems. They have a hormonal system that acts something like a nervous system. The distinction is sentience. Like humans, cows, pigs, chicken, fish, and most other animals consumed by humans have brains. A plant's system wouldn't allow it to feel anything because there's no brain attached. Meanwhile, cows, pigs, and chickens have a full range of emotions just like humans and can definitely feel pain.

    Nice video and awesome job on your dietary and fitness successes. I was on a vegan diet for 2 1/2 years. I found it difficult to get enough protein and keep my carbohydrate intake down so I couldn't get to the body fat % that I wanted. What do you eat for protein? I use to mainly eat organic wheat gluten and tofu myself.

  • @PhilKidding
    @PhilKidding 11 років тому

    Well for example, white mushrooms are 37% protein 50% carbs 13% fats. They key here is to eat enough fresh foods so you get your 40-60g of protein daily. If you calorie restrict, you're going to find it difficult.

    Mass has to do with how much you eat as a simple fact of thermodynamics; however this is not the case with contractile tissue mass. Vegan is not only less healthy; but it is suboptimal for bodybuilding due to protein sources with far lower bioavailability.

    you are correct, not everyone can be vegan. But if you live in Europe or North America, you can without a problem.

    Where does a cow get its protein? Have a look at the nutritional breakdown of plant foods. ALL foods have protein in them. You only need at most 2g per kg of bodyweight per day, so it's very easy to get enough eating plants (which includes nuts, legumes and seeds)

    I am a vegan, not nonviolent tho, cept' for the four legged. I fought in the cage and the ring. Strength to weight ratio is so important in the martial arts. I am taking notes I'm going to learn these exercises and be a BEAST! Wish I could find a step by step guide to getting there but until then i'll improvise. Any ideas?

    And you are right. Maybe if we lived in a time where eating meat is frowned upon then maybe I would have compassion and would choose not to eat it but that isn't the case. Do what you do.
