    I love this car - looks fantastic, and I'm so proud that BMW is taking the leap to try a new diesel like this, in our market. No they aren't the first, but I hope Jessi's right, in that this 335 will show Americans that diesel is more than viable. I've never owned one, but I'd certainly consider it. Great review.

    @ Marvarvelous - Only offered in auto because BMW doesn't have a gearbox that could handle that torque in a manual set-up. Even in Europe it's only offered in auto.

    awesome vid, i was looking at this car recently. one thing to note may be how much more torque you get from the diesel compared to the 335i

    Love the color and the good sized diesel engine. I also love the LED tail lights and turn signals. It would be nice if more LED's in cars. Diesel's are cleaner in some ways but often have less horse power than gas engines. I trust BMW to make sure the diesel engine doesn't hurt the cars performance.

    My "huge" F350 crew cab gets 27-28MPG, and my Excursion gets 30-31MPG.
    No, they didn't come that way from the factory - but, it didn't take much to get there.
    And my '90 Dodge Cummings Turbo Diesel still gets 27MPG - stock.... after 670,000 miles.
    It's a personal choice on what one does to their vehicle.

    • @mattlb0619
      @mattlb0619 7 років тому

      When the video was made, no. There is the 328d now, the 335d is no longer available.

  • @NOCARRIER416
    @NOCARRIER416 14 років тому

    @decamerondix no. The 3-series wasn't originally designed to handle this much torque, there are no manual transmissions on the market that can fit into the transmission tunnel that can handle the power. For this much torque you're looking at pick-up truck transmissions. (the 335d has more torque than a Dodge Ram for example.) Also in the review, the comparison of diesel gas price being more expensive than regular gas.... well, the 335i uses premium gas. Gas prices are almost the same.

    @birdman3120 We have all these huge for F350s and the like spewing black smoke and forcing us to constantly hit the recirculated air button. It's a far different experience from European countries where everyone drives tiny cars. So naturally, people scoff when they hear of a diesel-powered car. I'm guessing the i version will continue to greatly outsell the d version because of that.

    Reflecting to that, Thailand is also Diesel lover as you can see so many trucks and even a passenger. Last but not least, the reason they do love diesel is that it is because of subsidized price of Diesel. We assumed that Diesel is a commercial fuel which is meant many of commercial cars use. Unless, unlike the U.S., the price of Diesel is rather high than Benzine (Gasoline) In closing, they are horsepower lovers not "Torque of the town" lovers like those European nations.

    Diesel filters are useless within 3 years or so making it just as dirty as a diesel from the 80's. Here in Norway diesel prices and cars has been cheaper than petrol for many years as a measure to reduce carbon emission footprint. However, what used to be some of the cleanest air in the world is now absolutely horrific in the cities thanks to all these environment "friendly" diesels. The government is now increasing the prices on diesel again.

    @fvgotch Well thats cause here theres alot of stuff handmade, and germans want more for their work. If we used machines or cheap workers stuff would be cheaper, but quality would probably decrease.
    Also, since we live here and dont really have another choice than buying the overprices products we need more money ourselves.

    diesel is accepted in Europe for about 15 years (because of there good quality and it's comparable to gasoline only less rev but much more torque), can't believe the average american hold the '80 diesels character in mind...

    Diesel needs to be our primary fuel here in the US. Think about it, you can run a diesel on nasty ass fryer oil after minimal refining just like crude oils minimal refining into diesel which has much more BTU energy, engine life and MPG. YET diesel is MORE expensive than Regular which needs TONS of refining equaling less BTU's, engine life and much MUCH less MPG.
    Anyone have a logical answer for this?

    @lrtsuqa1996 Diesels are not unpopular. Diesels are hardly offered here in the USA. We put such a strict policy on diesels that car companies do not want them here. They would be very popular. We would love them here....dont believe what our government is trying to make the world believe. We would love diesels.

  • @nonyobussiness3440
    @nonyobussiness3440 11 років тому

    well, idk why won't you change it every three years or so. Diesel's tend to last longer and idk maybe you're country's standards are outdated. The government should require diesel filters to be changed every 3 years, do you guys have emissions? Also, with an increase in lower fuel cost and higher mpg people will tend to drive more kind of canceling out any added benefit.
