    We just sold our 335d. It was tuned to around 380hp. Owned it for 5 years and drove around 100.000km. The only problems were a small oil line on the turbo and a electric pressure valve for the turbo. So unsceduled repairs in 5 years were under 200€...

    A tuned 335d or 535d are very fast. They can stay with a gallardo or an r8 on a straight and leave many many sports cars behind. A stock type r isnt comparable lol.

    Good video Gato. I had my 335d tuned when it had about 20k miles, currently at about 60k miles. I recently removed the intake manifold to check up on carbon buildup, and I really had none. Every time I pump diesel I add some Diesel Kleen to the tank, I believe this is also what contributed to carbon build up prevention.

    Nice review. I’ve had my 335d for 3 years now and it’s time to unleash that monster. What did you do for exhaust?It sounded relatively quiet cruising down the highway. I just don’t want a straight pipe to be obnoxiously loud inside. Thanks for the info

    Gato I completed the build on my 335d. First the inter-related items that were serviced all at once! -Decarbonizing the intake, Walnut blasting the head/valves while the intake manifold is off removing the swirl port flaps and replacing with blanking plates ultrasonic cleaning the intake manifold Was completed. -Removing restrictions/recirculation system and installing ÄÄRodriguez EGR delete race Pipe. -Custom turbo back Exhaust built for DPF Down pipe and SCR delete and a super Tune compatible of 350+ wheel horse power and 550+ wheel foot pounds of torque. -Replacing the vacuum lines with upgraded silicone lines. -Oem Thermostat replacement. -Oem Fuel Filter replacement. -Oem Engine Oil and Filter change. -Oem Air Filter replacement. -Oem Transmission filter and fluid exchange. -Engine coolant exchange. -Rear differential fluid exchange. -Power steering fluid exchange. Stock intercooler and intake. Car is an animal now. Governors increased to 199mph!!! It’s just nuts will go 60 to140mph in like a blink of an eye 💨 I love this car.

DIRTY job but rather straightforward. Doing the valve cover, vacuum lines, and I'll have a freakin awesome car for the price of a shty econo box.

      Hey bud, here is the company I used to tune the ECU. Unfortunately, Bohl Diesel doesn't do 335ds anymore, since the EPA is getting militant about things and all that. The 335d was never available with a manual transmission as BMW didn't have a manual that would handle the torque of that motor that would fit within the space of the transmission tunnel. That was based on the standard output, a tuned motor with even more torque would present an even bigger problem. TBH, I think that the 335d is well suited to the auto.

    I just went for a ride in my friends 335d and it is a beast! It now makes 600 ft-lbs of torque, and 380 hp! It is insane! It spins the tires at 55 mph! 😂 and my God it sounds beautiful! It looks like any other bmw on the road, he hasnt done any exterior mods. It is white, no tint, stock alloy rims(looks on point), stock everything. The only thing he has done to it is a big ass intercooler, a downpipe with no cat, a new free flowing intake, and a computer tune. I wish I had that car and I'm only 13!

    Hi Bimmer Owners:
    I currently own a 2000 BMW E39 540i"A" CDN, Build: 10/99...bought 5 years ago and it currently has 267,500 km's!! I like the HP/Torque, which is pretty much stock! I have done a lot of repairs, added parts, but there is still many things I would like to change/add, but I feel I am at my $$$ limit of how much I want to keep spending to keep it working well and roadworthy!! Plus, it is my "Daily Driver" (I own a 2002 Honda CBR1100xx Super Blackbird)...that is my "Speed demon"..lol!! My question is: should I make the leap into buying and owning a 2009 BMW 335d?? I have been watching some UA-cam Vids and Reviews/Comments about the Car...Pro's & Con's, there seems to be more Pro's than Con's, but because of the crazy Emission Control Systems and the Expense of keeping it working properly is very $$$!! But, @flyingato and other Owners on here say there are some "Tuning" Mods that can alleviate some of the negative issues with this Car!! The Seller is asking $13,000 CDN and it has approx 235,700 km's (Is that a lot of Mileage)?? I hope some of you can provide some advice...;-) P.S.- I was also considering staying with the 5-Series, so I am also considering a 2010-2014 535d!!

I know the BMW 135I M sport package came with bigger brakes but that was about it i think. It's a bit confusing for sure, and you're not being nasty about it 😁 from my research, The M sport 335d had different wheels and bumper than the Sport, and a few other visual bits. The sport and m sport, for the 335d at least, did come with different suspension bits as well as brake ducts out front. FlyinGato So I did some research and you have the sport package which does have the "Sport tuned suspension" No package in the 335D came with bigger brakes. 335D did not ever come in M sport which is all visual items that your car does not have. I do have a question. I've been hunting down this car for a while and I found one locally for 7k. Car has 166k miles on it but its untouched and in great condition with claimed all highway miles. Do these engines and transmissions lasts for a long time if well taken care of? I plan on removing the DEF system, cleaning it up and doing a tune up on it and getting it tuned and the trans tuned. I feel like it is a very good price for it but there are others in the area now too. One for 10k that has 100k miles and one for 12k that has 96k. All look in great shape but if I can save up some money for mods and still be safe I'd prefer to go for that.

    • @FlyinGato
      @FlyinGato  5 років тому +1

      you have to check to make sure maintanance has been done. Things like, the transmission fluid changed at 80K, the harmonic balancer at 85K, vacumm hoses at 80K, intercooler inlet pipe, and brake fluids all changed. If you find a car at around 80K miles, expect to do all of that maintanance. Also, if they haven't been deleted yet, you need to factor in a carbon cleaning and an ABC delete into your budget.

    • @philhans7437
      @philhans7437 5 років тому

      I can do all of that myself easily. I'm a diesel tech at a dodge dealership. I suppose my main concern is cost of ownership. I do expect to initially shell out a couple thousand to do the shell blasting and all the mods. Egr, dpf, scr deletes etc. This would be my daily driver and I'm on the highway 80% of the time. Thanks for your answer.

    • @FlyinGato
      @FlyinGato  5 років тому

      If you can do the work yourself, get it, main thing then is the trans fluid, if it's not changed by around 80-90k miles, there could be trouble in the future. With that said, my 335d reached 120k miles, no issues other than the ones I covered, 38mpg highway is nice too, and the power...

    • @philhans7437
      @philhans7437 5 років тому

      That's awesome. I'll go check out the 100k mile and the 90k mile ones also but if there's plenty life left in the 166k then I rather get that and have money left to do mods. Thanks for your help. I really like all your 335d videos. All 3 of them are auto and I would want to do the trans tune so I would definitely do trans maintenance first. I wouldn't trade mine for an M3 either, for sure, I think it's the best 3 series of this century! especially when tuned. However, I do think the Type R is just more fun in the turns, in terms of driver feel and performance. My S2000 is even BETTER than the Type R. All three are a BLAST to drive, the 335d will smoke all my cars in a straight line though.

      I think he's using the 335d as a 3 Series comparison. But it doesn't even compare to a 335i with handling. at 6-cylinder diesel block is iron versus aluminum on the 335i. And handling a M3 vs a 335i is way different. I think you should test drive one.

      Most modern diesels vent the crankcase into the intake. When the engine sits for a little while, a small amount of oil collects on the intake valves and is burned on startup. My 6.0 powerstroke does the same thing has my 2013 X5 3.5d.

    2011 335d w 114K. My 2nd (1st was totaled). Owned the car since Nov. 2016 and spent well over $17K on repairs. That doesn't include BMW replacing the DEF tank under warranty. #2 Injector (2X), Harmonic balancer, EGR tank, $650 for a battery and "programming", countless other items, all pretty much pollution related. If you can't afford to do the alphabet conversion, stay away. This thing will slow bleed you out. If you like to meet tow truck drivers and mechanics, just hit the road in one of these. It has never made a trip of over 200 miles without the CEL coming on. My mechanics text me every month if I haven't been towed in, to make sure that annuity is still paying off for them.

    Not as exciting as the Honda Type-R or the S2000, lol. Mate, that BMW is in a completely different league to a plastic Japanese Honda in every facet.
    The two Honda's you talk of are cheap and tacky chav mobiles. That BMW 335d you have, amazing car, I am astonished you could even put a Honda alongside it, it is an utter insult.
    The BMW E90 sounds better, will be better built, looks better is not a pile of tin basically.

    • @FlyinGato
      @FlyinGato  5 років тому +1

      Honda and this BMW are two completely different products, for different purposes. For all out fun, it's Honda all day, but for pure grunt in the lap of luxury, this 335d takes the cake

    • @satoronsela1254

      @@FlyinGato You simply cannot put a plastic Honda in the league of this BMW, no way. That specific BMW, so the 335d E90 is probably the best BMW they have made in many years.
      Not only is the build quality solid, but the engine, the look of the vehicle, the way it goes.
      A Honda, any Honda should not be compared to this BMW. It may be quicker on roads that wind and curve around the Honda, but that is it. It is a chav mobile Honda and I am astonished you have pitted a Honda remotely in the league of a BMW 335d E90, ha ha, just crazy.
      I currently own a 340i Shadow. 1 year old. It is alright, but it is not as good as an E90 335i and certainly not as superior as an E90 335d. Honestly, I am well jealous you have that car, ha ha. They are so rare to find now, even in the UK, to find a low mileage one with say 30,000 miles is hard. I did see a silver M-Sport on a 2011 plate, saloon a bit like you're 335d with 34,000 miles on it and full BMW service history. Immaculate this car was, and I would have put a stage II exhaust on it and that is all I would do with it. I would not chav it up, but keep it almost original apart from upgrading the BHP and exhaust system, nothing else.
      Honestly mate, I love you're vehicle, ha ha. Your's is the SE version I think as well?. It looks so understated, but really it is a magnificent car and a real sleeper you have there. No point in chaving them up as well.
      You see some people they ruin them by putting aftermarket 20inch alloys on them which look shit, unless you have BMW original alloys anyone putting aftermarket rubbish on their BMW is a chav and has no respect for what this specific BMW is about.
      All that said, no I do not rate Honda alongside any BMW, sorry, ha ha. Plastic Japanese rubbish not for me.

      As someone who has owned a dozen BMWs and loves them to death, you're fooling yourself if you think the BMW will be more reliable than either of them. Both are going to be much cheaper to own and maintain, use less consumables (weight is a killer) and both will generally be must faster in anything other than a strait line. I've driven a track prepped 450HP 335d at CMP in Kershaw, SC. I've been on track with moderately tuned S2ks and ITRs and both will stomp the BMW in the corners. There's no way to overcome that weight... especially with how heavy the diesel engine is. They are all different tools meant for different jobs...

      He’s on Instagram and stuff like that. 500hp was about 10 hours on the dyno trying to get the tune right. It’s tuned by bevvo tuning and help from gbw tuning as he’s the bmw tuning god. Not sure on torque figures.
